At Society, Abby left a message for Mariah. She assumed Mariah would be going straight to Memorial after her flight landed, and she hoped there would be good news for Mariah about Faith. Lola walked up and asked if there was news on Faith. Abby hadnt heard anything since yesterday. Abby wished she was the right blood type so that she could save Faith. Lola said Rey had been feeling helpless. She remembered that her brothers didnt tell her mom that she needed a transplant, because they didnt think shed handle the news well. Lola thought her brothers were right. Abby hoped that shed be calm when her child needed her to be, even if she was freaking out on the inside. Lola thought that Abbys baby would grow up surrounded by a loving and supportive family. Nina showed up with a box from Chance. Chance included a card that said he missed Abby like crazy, and he thought of their honeymoon often. He got her several little gifts to remind her of their beach honeymoon, like tropical flavored candies, a picture of the beach they honeymooned on, and a tropical scented l4e;candle.
Abby moped around the Chancellor house. She thought Nina must think she was spoiled for acting this way after getting a sweet gift. Nina thought Abby was having a human reaction to being separated from her husband. Abby was happy to get the package, but it made her miss Chance more. She felt like he wouldnt have gone through the trouble to get all those gifts if he thought he was coming back any time soon. She knew what she was getting into when she married an undercover detective, and she didnt want to feel sorry for herself. She was lucky she married the man of her dreams, they were expecting a child, and everyone was healthy. She knew she needed to be patient. Nina didnt think shed be so patient in Abbys shoes. Nina got a text from a producer who wanted her to fix a script for a big action movie. She left to call her agent, and Abby looked wistfully at the picture of the beach.
In the Montalvo cellar, Adam grimaced as he examined an old dusty can of beans. He heard someone descending the steps, so he armed himself with a crowbar and waited. He sprang out at the person and dropped the weapon when he saw it was Nick. Adam asked what the hell Nick was doing there. Nick said Sharon sent him. Adam argued that he never told Sharon where he was, and even if he had, shed never tell Nick. Nick said Sharon pointed him in the right direction, because Faith was sick and Adam was the only one who could help. Nick told Adam the whole story, but Adam thought it was a set up. Nick was going to let Adam hear it from Sharon, but Adam pointed out that phones didnt work in cellars. Nick said they could go upstairs and make the call. Adam thought that if this was true, Sharon wouldve come in person. He told Nick to go to hell.
Nick swore hed never lie about his childs health. Adam brought up the time Nick lied about Victors health and let Adam think their father was dead. Nick said if he wanted the cops to get Adam, hed have brought them here. Nick was grateful Adam put everything on the line to bring Faith to the hospital. Adam said he didnt do it for Nick. Nick said it didnt matter why Adam did it. Hed be forever indebted to Adam unless he made a different decision now, and then all the goodwill Adam earned with Nick, the family and Sharon would go up in smoke. Sharon is counting on you, Adam, Nick stated. Adam didnt believe Nick cared what Sharon thought of him. Nick said to forget about him Sharon was sitting at Faiths bedside, terrified that her little girl was facing hours of dialysis. Nick stressed that Adam could save Sharons daughters life. And after everything you have put them through, dont you think they deserve that?, Nick asked.
Nick said Adam didnt have to decide on the surgery now he could come back to Genoa City and talk to Sharon. The wind started rattling the window, confusing Nick. Adam said that a big storm was coming in, and he was down here to ride it out. Nick thought they could hop in the jet now and beat the weather. Adam was okay with Nick going to chase tornadoes, but he was staying put. He was sorry Faith was sick, and as a father, he understood, but he couldnt take that risk. He told Nick to find another donor. Nick noted that, because of the rare blood type, it could take years. Adam said he might return if he cleared his name. You are coming home with me and I will do whatever it takes to make that happen, Nick stated. Adam asked if Nick was going to kidnap him. Nick was adamant that Adam was getting on that plane. Adam said Nick shouldnt be so quick to threaten violence something might happen to one of his kidneys, defeating the purpose of the trip. Nick swore there was nothing he wouldnt do for his kids. Adam said they were in AJs house the man he killed as a boy, then years later, he drove his daughter out of her mind, that was what happened when you came up against a monster. He was sure Nick still saw him as an irredeemable monster and thought he poisoned Rey. Nick didnt want to talk about that. All that mattered to him was saving his daughter. Adam yelled that Nick wanted him to come home and give up a kidney, and he couldnt even be honest with him. Adam told him to stop dodging the question and admit it. Nick admitted he thought Adam poisoned Rey.
Adam asked if that was so hard. Adam come on man, please, Nick said. Adam felt that Nick would always expect the worst of him. Nick didnt think it should matter what he thought. He said they both knew that if Adam did this for Faith, hed actually be doing it for Sharon, because hed never turn his back on her when she needed him the most. Adam said Nicks opinion did matter, because if he thought he poisoned Rey, he might turn him in after the surgery was over. Nick swore hed hide Adam from the police and help him escape. Nick said hed do anything for his kids, and he knew Adam would do anything for Connor the only thing they had in common was that they loved being fathers. The storm was getting worse. Nick asked if they had a deal, and Adam said yes. Adam started packing up all the evidence that hed been in the basement, just in case the cops ever searched the place, while Nick insisted that they had to leave now. Just as they started going up the stairs, the house started shaking violently, and the door slammed shut. Nick persevered and continued up the stairs even though Adam said it was too dangerous. The door was wedged shut. Adam said they werent going anywhere, but Nick said that wasnt an option.
Sharon was asleep in Faiths hospital room. She woke up when Faith called her name. Faith could tell Sharon had a bad dream shed been fidgeting in her sleep, and shed said Adam. Sharon was sure Faith had a lot of questions about how the doctors would treat her illness. Faith called Sharon out for changing the subject, but Sharon said this was all connected. She explained that the steroids the doctors were giving Faith to stop her immune system from attacking her kidneys wasnt working so far, and she might need a transplant. Faith was terrified, and she asked if someone would have to die for her to get a kidney. Sharon said no, and Faith thought about Summer giving Lola part of her liver. Sharon said that the best chance was for someone in the family to be the donor, and Faith had a rare blood type. Faith realized why Sharon was dreaming about Adam, and it upset her she hoped that Adam wasnt the match. She didnt think hed want to help her, because of the way she yelled at him in the coffeehouse in front of all those people. Sharon pointed out Adam already helped Faith by bringing her to the hospital after the accident. She added that they didnt even know if Faith would need a transplant yet. Faith asked what happened in the dream. Sharon said shed been searching for Adam. She shifted gears and asked if Faith got some good rest. Faith had a bad dream too, about a dark shadow that was chased her over a cliff. Sharon said she had dreams like that when she had chemo, but it turned out to be nothing it wasnt a bad omen.
Later, Sharon was in the hospital hallway while Elena examined Faith. Elena stepped out. The results of the biopsy werent what they hoped to see. If the steroids didnt start working soon, and Faith didnt find a living donor, she would have to start dialysis. Elena knew it wasnt ideal, but itd keep Faith alive until they could find a donor, and considering her blood type, that could take years. Elena left, and Sharon started to cry. Mariah ran in and Sharon told her everything. Mariah asked if she was a match, and Sharon said no, which was just as well, since she was pregnant. Mariah learned that Adam was a match, and she complained that of all the people in this family, it had to be the one person who was unreliable and literally on the run. Sharon asked Mariah to stop she was trying to be positive for Faith. Sharon hadnt been able to reach Nick. Mariah said that didnt mean it was bad news. Later, Sharon was alone. She called Nick for an update, but he didnt answer.
Mariah went home and told Abby that the treatment for Faith wasnt working. Abby sympathized, and she asked how Mariahs morning sickness was. Mariah smelled something that made her stomach lurch. It was the tropical candle that Abby just lit. Abby apologized and blew out the candle, and Mariah rushed from the room. Later, Mariah returned. Nina was back downstairs. Abby brought Mariah some crackers and ginger tea for her stomach. Abby didnt want Mariah to regret carrying the baby. Mariah didnt think that would ever happen morning sickness was a drag, but it was nothing compared to what Faith was going through. She thought it was good to have all these normal symptoms, like a message from the baby that he or she was there and doing its thing. Mariah had to go to work. Abby rushed and gave Mariah the snack to take with her, and Nina looked concerned.
At Crimson Lights, Jack apologized to Devon for having to postpone the meeting. He explained that Jabot had been in crisis, but he and Kyle put out the fire. Jack assumed Devon wanted to discuss Abbott-Winters business. Devon had just received the formal assessment of the drug and alcohol program they developed in honor of Neil, and it confirmed what the clients had said it was a huge success. He read Jack a few excerpts from the study. Jack found this so rewarding, and he said they could move ahead with their plans to expand. Devon already had training underway in several cities. Jack marveled at what theyd accomplished in the two years since they lost Neil. Devon thought Neil would be pleased. Devon said he was going to start a jazz label caused Winters Mood, for Neil, and he was going to use some of the profits to expand the rehab program. Jack couldnt think of a more fitting tribute to Neil. That meant a lot to Devon, because Jack was one of Neils closest friends. Devon invited Jack to the event he and Lily were putting on to celebrate Neil in a few weeks. Jack would be honored.
Jack thanked Devon for helping his niece. Devon wasnt sure how Jack would feel about this, because it wasnt the most traditional way to have a child. Jack said all that mattered was that Abby and Chance had a child to shower with love. He felt they were lucky to have friends to help. Devon said it was a little weird to know your DNA was out in the world, and it wasnt your child, but Abby said she wanted him to be part of the babys life. He wasnt Neils biological child, but he couldnt ask for a better father, and he was sure their baby would feel the same way about Chance and Abby. Jack felt Devon had given the Abbotts, Chancellors and Newmans an amazing gift they were all so excited. Jack asked about Moses, and Devon said he was doing fine and keeping busy. Jack was glad Devon had company. Devon said he was dating Amanda. Jack didnt know her well, except that she did a great job representing Billy when he was accused of shooting Chance. He recalled talking to Amanda about Hilary once. Devon knew some people would think it was odd that he was involved with his late wifes twin, but the women were so different that he didnt think about it. Jack was happy for Devon, and he looked forward to getting to know Amanda.
Later, Devon ran into Elena at Crimson Lights. He saw that she was a million miles away, and she said it was just work. She asked how he was, he said things were great he had an interesting project he was working on that hed tell her about another time, since he saw she was distracted. He knew from Moses that Faith was in the hospital, and he assumed that was what had Elena preoccupied. She felt like that family had been through so much. It didnt seem fair. He said hed pray for Faith, her family and her doctors, especially the ones who put their heart and soul in it, like her. After Devon left, Lola arrived and asked Elena about Faith. Elena said it wasnt good news. Lola was sorry. Elena knew that Lola took Faith under her wing. Lola said she was the cool aunt. Elena thought Faith was lucky to have Lola. Lola thought about the beautiful New years Eve wedding and how happy and excited the family was this year was supposed to be their reward for getting through Sharons cancer. Elena said Sharon was doing a great job supporting Faith, though shed trade places with her daughter in a second if she could.
