Nick was with Faith at the hospital, the morning after the accident. He mentioned Sharon saying Faith had a quiet restful night. He told Faith that the sun was up, and he asked her to wake up, so she could come home. He held up a get well soon card that Christian made her and asked her to open her eyes and see for herself. He flashed back to the time he and Sharon sat with Cassie in her hospital bed, just before she succumbed to the injuries from the car accident. In the present, Nick shook the memory out of his mind and told himself that this time was different. Nikki arrived, and she lingered in the doorway watching Nick with Faith. Nick recalled how Faith always accused him of hovering and overreacting because of Cassie. He said he’d love nothing more than to hear her complain again. He stated that other parents could tell themselves to relax, because their kid was going through a phase, and they’d grow out of it, but he couldn’t do that, because he’d lost a child, and he knew what could happen. Nikki apologized profusely, but Nick blamed himself, not her. From the beginning, he felt that there was something off about this secret admirer, but he’d ignored the alarm bells going off in his head, and he wished that he’d listened. He tearfully said he should’ve protected his little girl. Victor arrived after Nikki left. He was heartbroken. Nick was scared because Faith was taking so long to wake up. Victor promised this wasn’t like what happened to Cassie. He told Nick to focus on the beautiful name Sharon and Nick gave their daughter – Faith. It meant there was no room for despair. Nick said he never needed that reminder more than he did now.

At the cottage, Rey asked Sharon about Faith. Sharon said she was still unconscious, but Nate had assured them there was no cause for alarm. Once Faith woke up, she’d need a neurological assessment to see if she had any brain damage. Rey said Faith was young and resilient, and she had the best possible care. He offered Sharon breakfast, but she didn’t have an appetite. She asked about his night. He told her there was no sign of Adam. He was going to talk to Chelsea’s nurse, but he promised to be there if Sharon needed him. She was going to rest for awhile, since Nick was with Faith. He left. Adam called. Sharon immediately told Adam she couldn’t talk, but he interrupted to ask how Faith was. She sat down in shock when he revealed that he was the one who took Faith to the hospital. He saw the accident from a distance, and he stopped to see if anyone needed help. He couldn’t get cell service, so he carefully removed Faith from the truck and took her to Memorial. As soon as he knew she was in good hands, he left. He asked if Faith would be okay. She told him Faith was still unconscious. She asked where he was. He was sure she knew he couldn’t tell her that, since Rey and the rest of the GCPD were after him. He wanted her to know that he didn’t do it.

Adam wanted to meet Sharon somewhere so he could explain, but she refused, because she was focused on her child. She hoped he was innocent, but she thought that if he was, he should come forward and defend himself. He didn’t think she understood how thoroughly he was set up. He wanted her help clearing his name. She said she couldn’t take this on with Faith lying in a bed unconscious. He apologized for not thinking – he knew that he’d feel the same way she did if it were Connor. She thanked him for taking the risk of getting Faith to the hospital. She’d always be grateful, but she couldn’t come to his rescue this time. She hung up.

Mariah came to the cottage to see Sharon. Sharon flashed back to one of the times that Cassie walked into the cottage. Sharon gaped at Mariah, then she quickly turned away, keeping Mariah out of her line of sight. Mariah assumed she startled Sharon and apologized. Mariah said Nikki told her about Faith. Mariah asked if there was anything she could do. She asked if Sharon had eaten. Sharon replied that she was just going to grab something quick and go back to the hospital, and she said Mariah didn’t have to stay. Mariah was concerned that Sharon wasn’t getting enough rest. Sharon said she tried to sleep, but she couldn’t until she knew Faith was okay. Mariah asked to drive Sharon. Sharon said no. Mariah insisted, and Sharon snapped that she didn’t want Mariah to drive. At no point during this conversation did Sharon look at Mariah. Mariah understood what was going on. “Of course Cassie would be on your mind today. And I’m a painful reminder, I know,” Mariah said. Sharon turned to look at Mariah and apologized. She explained that she was terrified. She wanted to believe Faith would be okay, but this feeling was so awful and familiar. “If the worst thing should happen. I can’t do it again. Can’t do it again,” Sharon cried.

At the ranch, Victor asked Nikki if she wanted to go for a ride. She wanted to stay home just in case Nick called. She hoped Faith didn’t have a serious head injury because that could take a long time to recover from. That broke his heart to think about. He told her not to assume the worst, but she said she couldn’t help it. She went to make some tea. Victor called Adam and left a message saying he was there for him.

After Sharon pulled herself together, she went to the hospital. Nick told her there was no change. He said his parents came earlier, and they were willing to come back if he and Sharon needed a break. She told him that Mariah made the same offer, and she was sure Rey would be there in a heartbeat. He asked how Rey was. She said if he was feeling the effects of the thallium, he didn’t show it. Nick hoped Rey could do what the rest of them couldn’t and get Adam, the monster, out of their lives for good. Sharon knew Nick thought Adam poisoned Rey, but she didn’t think he should be hoping that was the case. She told him to think of all the lives that would be affected – Connor, Chelsea, Victor. Nick challenged Sharon to name one person who was better off because of Adam. Sharon looked at Faith.

Sharon didn’t want to argue with Nick, especially not here. He agreed that they didn’t need to talk about that. He was already riled up about Jordan’s cruel prank. Sharon said she knew Jordan was trouble from the get-go. He said Sharon was right to want to separate Jordan and Faith and get Faith into therapy. He wished he never fought her on that. He said that if Faith had a trusted therapist, maybe she would’ve reached out to them instead of drinking and getting in that truck and trying to run from her problems. She told himself not to beat himself up too much. She noted that Faith was with someone she trusted – Nikki – and she still did what she did. She said Faith was young, immature and convinced she could outrun pain instead of dealing with it. He said that it killed him that after everything they did to try and help Faith, it ended up being a complete stranger who helped her when she needed it the most. He wanted to find the Good Samaritan and shake his hand. They closed their eyes in prayer for Faith to wake up. She opened her eyes and weakly called for them, and they were overjoyed.

At the penthouse, Meredith offered to play an audio book for Chelsea, to help take her mind off things. Chelsea blinked no, so Meredith went to get her a blanket. Once Chelsea was alone, she grabbed her phone and smiled as she read about the manhunt for Adam. Later, she pretended to be incapacitated again when Rey arrived. He understood that she could answer questions through blinks. He asked if she’d heard from Adam since he left. She said no. he asked if she knew where Adam was, and she said no again. He asked if she’d tell him if she did know where Adam was, and she said no. “I figured,” he replied. He told her that they’d find Adam and when they did, he’d probably go to prison for a long time. Chelsea said to herself that she was counting on that. Rey wanted to speak with Meredith alone, so they went to the kitchen. Chelsea wriggled around to get herself more comfortable. Later, she watched Rey intently as he returned to retrieve his coat. He noticed and said she didn’t miss a thing. He bet she could tell him a lot. He’d like to understand how a woman as sharp as her could put her faith in someone like Adam, but he assumed in her current predicament, she didn’t have a choice. He was disgusted that Adam abandoned her in her time of need. He sensed that she was ticked off at him. “Far from it, Detective. You helped make my plan a success,” she thought to herself. He was sorry for what Adam put her through. He left, and she grinned. “Oh, Rey. Not nearly as sorry as Adam’s gonna be,” she stated.

Abby treated Nina to breakfast at Society as a thank you for being on this journey with her. Nina was happy to do it – this would be her first grandchild. Nina remembered that Chance had been beaming on his wedding day, all because of Abby. Abby said she was counting on Nina to keep her sane. The combination of not knowing when Chance would be back and waiting for news on the embryo transfer had her jumpy. Nina suggested Abby work with her to write a screenplay. Abby said her aunt Traci was the writer in the family, not her. Nina didn’t want Abby to write. She was creating a main character based on Abby, and she thought Abby could provide her some insight.

Nina said Abby was the product of two powerful families, raised in Europe and L.A. amongst some fascinating people. Abby thought she’d come to a snooze-worthy end, owning a restaurant and working to have a baby. Nina said that, as someone who told stories, she could tell Abby that her life was beautiful raw material. Nina said they could set the story in any time or place. Abby got excited about the prospect of costumes. She thought it should be set in a restaurant. Nina asked who Abby would want to play her love interest.

Mariah went to Society and ran into Abby and Nina. She told them she wouldn’t be able to relax until Faith was okay. They hadn’t heard, so she told them the same story. Abby brought up Cassie. Mariah said it was the same story – underage driving, alcohol was involved both times. She didn’t understand why Faith would be so reckless. Nina said kids that age were like that. Mariah said that as Cassie’s twin, she was a walking talking reminder of the daughter Sharon and Nick lost. “My mom couldn’t even look at me in the face when I checked in on her earlier,” Mariah said. Abby asked if she could do something for Mariah. Mariah said she’d be fine once she knew Faith was okay. She said this wasn’t going to cause her reproductive system to shut down – she was just scared about her little sister.

At the penthouse, Amanda hoped it wasn’t a bad time. Devon said it wasn’t. He took the morning off to prepare Moses’s bedroom. He would be there today. Amanda didn’t have the emotional bandwith to discuss their relationship now. Devon understood. He reminded her of his promise to be there for her. She was glad because her head was spinning, and she needed help figuring out what to do. She explained that her father may have been murdered by her grandfather. Naya wanted Amanda to represent her grandfather. She thought it took chutzpah for the family to ask her to do this after they took out a restraining order on her. She said Naya thought that the defense would be more convincing if presented by the victim’s daughter. He thought that sounded calculating. She said it was a political family who was used to evaluating things based on how the public would see it. That was why Naya was pressured to give Hilary away and put Amanda up for adoption. She said Naya thought this was an opportunity for the family to come together. Devon said that depended whether or not the father was innocent. He asked what the evidence looked like against her grandfather. She said it was hard to say. She wasn’t sure she was getting the whole story. She received information from her grandfather’s legal team, which was just a basic summary of the accusations and a couple articles about the crash. Reading about the accident made her realize how young her father was when his life was stolen – younger than she and Devon were. It was sad and infuriating.

Devon didn’t understand why Amanda’s grandfather was being accused of murder. He asked if the cops knew about Naya getting pregnant. As far as Amanda knew, no one outside the family and the lawyers knew Naya and Richard even had a relationship. She said her father and grandfather had another connection. When Richard graduated from college, where he met Naya, he stared working for a company that gave sizable donations to Naya’s father. Richard discovered the man allegedly bent the rules to benefit the company. Devon asked if it was rule bending or law breaking. According to Amanda, that part was murky, but the behavior was shady enough that neither side wanted it to come to light, then her father died before he could expose what was going on. Devon said that anyone involved in the bribery scheme had motive to go after the whistle blower. Amanda said if her grandfather wasn’t responsible, the guilty party was probably someone else mixed up in the corruption. Amanda wanted Devon’s input because the company that her father worked for was Newman Enterprises.

Devon stated that Neil worked at Newman for years, but he promised Amanda that he’d never be party to anything like that. Amanda said, based on the timeline, this would’ve happened before Neil even started working there. However, Victor was in his prime in that era. Amanda said that her grandfather pulled some strings to help Victor push through a commercial real estate deal. Devon admitted that Victor had a reputation for being ruthless, but he didn’t think Victor would murder anyone. Devon had known Victor since he was a teen and he used to sleep on Victor’s office floor. He didn’t think Victor would kill someone over a real estate deal. She said maybe someone else at Newman did it and kept Victor in the dark. She was tempted to take the case, because she wanted to learn about her father. He told her that she didn’t have to take the case to do that. She agreed, but she wasn’t sure about turning down her mother’s invitation to be part of the family. This could be the only chance she got.

Devon knew that as a foster kid, the ultimate fantasy was being part of a family that you couldn’t be taken away from. Amanda recalled Devon saying everything changed when he was adopted by Neil and Dru. He said it did, but he knew Amanda never felt that before. He was almost certain that Naya and her political family took that into account before they approached her. He thought she should keep her eyes open when she was dealing with these people. She knew, but if these people were being sincere, this could be a turning point in her life. He understood why she was conflicted, and he was glad because she was being careful. He said Naya’s family was secretive and they didn’t trust outsiders, and they already abandoned Amanda in more ways than one. He said when she let herself start thinking she could earn Naya’s family’s love and loyalty by coming to their rescue, she was taking a big risk. She couldn’t deny any of that, but she didn’t trust easily, and she’d gotten pretty good at looking out for herself. She said there were risks to not getting involved. If her grandfather was being framed, she wasn’t sure how she could live with herself if she let him take the fall and let her father’s real killer go free. Talking to him really helped her, but she still had a lot of thinking to do. He asked her to let him know what she decided to do, and she promised she would.
