Mariah went to the cottage to see Sharon and Rey. When Sharon said Rey was at work, Mariah was surprised, since he just got out of the hospital. Sharon said it wasn’t her idea. She explained that Rey said he had to take care of something that couldn’t wait. Mariah asked if they knew where the poison came from. Sharon said the GCPD was on the case. She shifted gears and asked how Mariah’s procedure went. She said it went as planned, and they implanted Abby’s fertilized embryo into her. She said that if things worked out, she was currently carrying Abby and Chance’s child and their hopes and dreams. She was was a little scared, but she also felt hope. Sharon said those feelings were part of bringing a child into the world.

Mariah felt good about being able to do something so meaningful for someone else. She thought Abby and Chance would be great parents. She said she was already starting to feel a little protective over the baby, like a fairy godmother. Sharon said it’d be nice to shield your kids from pain. Mariah was sure Faith would be fine. Sharon said it was hard to watch Faith struggle. She and Nick would do anything to take away the pain, but they couldn’t. She remembered going through that with Mariah when she fell in love with her brother’s girlfriend. Mariah remembered that Sharon never judged her. Sharon said she did her best to be there for Mariah and Noah, and it turned out well – Noah was happy and thriving, and Tessa and Mariah were embarking on this wonderful journey. Sharon was encouraged by the path Faith was on now. She said life threw things at you, but as long as you didn’t go up hope, you’d get through it.

Rey presented Adam with a warrant to search the penthouse and Adam’s car. Adam asked what he was being accused of. Rey apologized to Chelsea, saying he knew this wasn’t easy to watch, but she gleefully said to herself that she had the best seat in the house. “Sorry for showing up like this,” he said. “And I’m sorry for poisoning you, but I promise it’s going to be worth it,” Chelsea thought. Rey went through the house, and Adam asked what Rey was looking for. “Rey, I’m talking to you,” an annoyed Adam said, after he got ignored. “Don’t,” Rey snapped. Adam was angry that Rey was doing this in front of Chelsea, and Rey’s refusal to explain himself made Adam think he might be overstepping his authority. Rey spat that he was in no mood, but then he staggered a bit, and Adam said he didn’t look so good. He suggested Rey sit down. Rey went upstairs.

Adam asked Chelsea what Rey could be looking for, and of course, she didn’t respond. He groaned that Rey and his cronies were looking for a reason to put him away. “It’s nerve-wracking isn’t it? Realizing that something’s been going on behind your back, but you’re not sure what or why. Are you feeling betrayed?,” she thought. He saw an online story about Rey being released from the hospital after an undisclosed illness. He remembered Sharon saying Rey was sick when she replied to that text she thought was from Adam. He didn’t realize it was that serious, though.

Adam laid out the facts – someone sent texts to Sharon as him saying he wished they were both free, then Sharon’s husband mysteriously ended up in the hospital, and he showed up at the penthouse as soon as he was released. He wondered if Chloe convinced Chelsea to turn on him. He then theorized Chelsea was acting alone. He said the only thing that made sense was that Chelsea had recovered just enough to fool them all. He implored her to talk to him, and he promised they could fix it. She said to herself that she was fixing it. He grabbed his coat and rushed out, then he quietly opened the door and peeked in. Chelsea smiled and stretched. Adam shook his head, then he left. Rey came downstairs with something in an evidence bag. He looked for Adam and realized he wasn’t there. He told Chelsea that he’d send someone to stay with her until her nurse came back, then he left.

Chelsea walked around the penthouse and said maybe this was how she and Adam were always meant to end. After all, she was a con artist, and he was a liar who’d always loved someone else. She said that the day she thought he blew up in the cabin should’ve been the end. Everything that happened since was a mistake. She was angry about the time she wasted on him. He’d broken her heart again. But it didn’t matter because she was finally free. She said she’d find a way to tell Connor what happened, and they’d have a bright and happy future without Adam.

Rey went home and asked Sharon if Adam contacted her. She said no. He told her about the search warrant and said he found a vial of white powder in Adam’s shaving kit that tested positive for thallium. He also found the missing figurine that she thought Faith might’ve stolen. It was in Adam’s car. He also found a tray that he knew was Sharon’s, and he asked why she didn’t tell him it was missing. She said she assumed it had been misplaced. He asked about the significance of these items, and she said they were just trinkets. He asked why Adam would take them, and she admitted he gave them to her. He stated that she’d put mementos from Adam around the house so she could see them every day. She said it wasn’t what Rey thought. She explained that the figurine was given to her after she came through the lowest point in her life. It was a symbol of her own strength. He asked about the tray, and she mumbled that it was nothing. He suggested that Adam took the items to send Sharon a message that he was the one who planted the thallium and tried to kill Rey.

Rey told Sharon how he convinced Michael to get him a search warrant. She asked if Adam was at the house when he got there. He said yes, but Adam ran during the search, because he knew what Rey would find. “He’s the sick bastard who put poison in my belongings,” he said. He needed Sharon’s help, since she apparently knew Adam better than anyone. He asked her where Adam would go.

Devon dropped by the Chancellor mansion to check on Abby and Mariah. Abby said Mariah was at her mother’s. He thought it was beautiful how everyone came together to help her and Chance have a baby. He knew Katherine would be over the moon to hear that her DNA was being passed down to the next generation of Chancellors. Abby felt good about carrying on Katherine’s legacy. She was wondering how Mariah felt about knowing her first child wouldn’t be her own. She asked if Devon was worried he wouldn’t be raising his first biological child. He replied that he was happy to have the role of cool uncle. She clarified that she wasn’t looking for reassurance; as his friend who loved him, she wanted to know if he wanted a child. He did hope to be a father, and he wanted to get married, but he didn’t think it would happen any time soon. She asked if he’d made a decision about Elena and Amanda. He said he probably ruined a good thing that could’ve been a great thing.

Devon said Mariah could be carrying a baby right now. Abby tried not to think too much about it, so she didn’t get overwhelmed. She missed Chance, especially on days like this. She decided to start a video diary for Chance to watch when he came home. He suggested they get Mariah and take her out to a nice dinner. She loved the idea. He wanted to go to The Grand Phoenix restaurant. She decided that being around Phyllis would be a lesson on patience, which she’d need as a mother. He called to make a reservation.

Naya was in Amanda’s room. Naya explained that a reporter was trying to tie her father, Amanda’s grandfather, to a murder that happened many years ago. “Sutton Ames has been implicated in a murder?,” Amanda asked. The reporter was claiming Sutton arranged it. Amanda asked if he did, and Naya said of course not, and she wanted Amanda to represent him. Amanda asked she would represent the man who forced Naya to give her and Hilary away. “Because the man my father is being accused of killing is your father,” Naya revealed. Amanda assumed this reporter must have some proof and that the police were considering the evidence. Naya said the police opened an investigation, but someone unknown was setting her father up. Amanda recalled Naya saying Amanda’s father died in a car crash. Naya said he was, about a year after Amanda and Hilary were born. Amanda burst into tears when Naya told her that her father was named Richard Nealon. She was emotional because she’d been waiting to hear his name for a long time. She pulled herself together and asked why it took 30+ years for the murder charge to come to light. Naya had no idea what this was all about, and that was why she came to Amanda.

Amanda asked why Naya thought she’d take this case. She added that she’d never tried a murder case. Naya knew Amanda studied criminal law and that she represented her boss when he was falsely accused of attempted murder. Amanda said that was resolved before it went to trial, and it wasn’t the same as going to court. She added she wouldn’t be able to hide her relationship to the family. Naya said they wouldn’t hide it anymore. Amanda noted that yesterday, she was a dirty secret, and Naya would sneak away for clandestine meetings with her, and now she was suddenly willing to open the Ames family gates and welcome her in? That was an extreme 180.

Naya thought that this situation could help the family bond and bring them together. She conceded that this might force the relationship to progress more quickly than it usually would, but she was sure Amanda wanted to get to know her family. “It’s what we all want. We want to bring you into the fold. Onto our team,” Naya said. Amanda thought that sounded like something a publicist would say and that it didn’t sound motherly. She theorized that Naya wanted to use her as a PR stunt to gin up empathy for the family. “The toss-away daughter defending her own grandfather.”

Amanda assumed Naya hoped the public would think “If [Amanda] could forgive him for everything that he’s done to her, then the jury would see him in a more empathetic light.” Naya thought that was a cynical way to look at it. She wanted Amanda to see this as a show of faith from a family who wanted her forgiveness. Amanda assumed Naya had told her family that they’d been in contact. Amanda wished she could’ve seen how that went over, especially since her grandfather saw her as a threat to the carefully-crafted image. “So much so that your daughter, the one that you raised, put out a restraining order against me,” Amanda stated. Naya said that never should’ve happened, and the restraining order wasn’t being enforced. “Yeah, now because a bigger threat has surfaced and now I am useful to you and the family,” Amanda snapped. Naya had assumed Amanda would want to find out the truth about Richard’s death, and if it was a murder, make sure the true guilty party paid. She’d thought Amanda would want to right this horrible wrong and in the process, get to know a family who’d be forever grateful and welcome her with open arms.

Naya admitted she was scared and desperate when she heard about the accusations against her father. She thought that fate reunited her and Amanda so that they could fight this together as a family. Naya told her father it was an opportunity, and that’s why he agreed to this. Amanda clarified that she didn’t agree to anything yet. She didn’t even know the facts of the case. Naya had been kept in the dark about a lot of the case, but she’d have her father’s current legal team forward the information to Amanda. According to Naya, Sutton was a private man who kept things guarded from everyone, even her. She said Amanda would get used to it. Amanda said not to assume she’d agree to this.

Amanda walked Naya downstairs. She said she needed a long time to make up her mind. Naya understood. She said no matter what Amanda decided, it wouldn’t change their relationship. Devon was watching from across the room. When Naya left, he approached Amanda and said that conversation looked pretty intense. She said she had a lot to process. He had time, if she wanted to talk. She said she couldn’t – not yet. He understood. He promised that she could always trust and confide in him and that he’d always do whatever he could to help her. She nodded and walked away.

Faith was at the main house. Just after Nikki stepped out of the living room, Faith got a text from her mystery buddy. They said they were Tommy Ross. Faith was so excited she screamed into a pillow. She knew this boy from school, and she couldn’t believe he noticed her. He said he’d sneak out and meet her. Faith said she couldn’t now, but she would soon. He asked her to say she loved him. She was taken aback and wondered if it was a joke. Another text came in saying “I love you, Faith Newman.” “I love you, Tommy Ross,” she replied. She asked when they would meet, and she started getting nervous when she didn’t get a response.

Faith asked Tommy why he was ignoring her. He said to check her social media. She went online and saw that a screenshot of the “I love you, Tommy Ross” text was posted in a group chat called Wgrovegossip. Faith was crushed, and she asked why he did it. “Maybe because I’m not Tommy and you fell for it, Loser,” was the reply. She asked who it was, and Jordan sent a picture of herself. “You got boring. And whiny. You let Mommy start running your life again, choosing your friends. I wasn’t going to waste my time with you anymore,” Jordan said. Faith sobbed. Nikki came in later and found Faith stifling tears and doing something on her phone. She asked what was going on, and Faith said she was playing a game. After some gentle questioning from Nikki, Faith opened up with the whole story. She felt so stupid, and she didn’t understand why Jordan would be so mean. Nikki said Jordan was never a real friend, and she was no better than the bullies Faith stood up to. She promised that the pain Faith was feeling would pass. Nikki suggested they take a walk. Faith said she felt better, and she was hungry. Nikki said she’d have Cook make them something, then they could go shopping. Once Nikki left the room, Faith started crying again. She grabbed a bottle of tequila from the wet bar, and she rushed out of the house.
