A concerned Sharon watched Rey toss and turn in his hospital bed while mumbling things about police work and soccer games. Nate entered and told Sharon that she was right to bring Rey to the hospital. Nate wanted Sharon to take a breather, but she wanted to stay by Rey’s side. He asked her to keep him company while he went to get coffee and some air, and she hesitantly agreed. Sharon flashed back to telling Rey that she loved and appreciated him. He’d said he loved her too. After Sharon and Nate left, Lola visited Rey. She figured this was what he’d felt like when she was in the hospital waiting for a liver donation. Hopeless, powerless and ready to bargain with God. She said she’d called their mom. Elena walked in while reading Rey’s chart. Lola was scared, and Elena promised Nate would figure out what was going on with Rey. Lola said Sharon thought it was food poisoning, but Lola didn’t think so since Rey had a bunch of additional symptoms that didn’t fit, plus she’d been cooking for him since she was little, and he had a cast iron stomach. Lola mentioned that Rey complained of shooting pains in his feet and legs. Elena appeared to have a realization, and she decided to contact Nate.

Adam was on the Crimson Lights Patio. He looked at the texts that appeared to be from him, telling Sharon that he wanted them to be free. He also saw Sharon’s reply, imploring him to let her go for good. She said Rey was sick. He typed up a response explaining that he didn’t send her those texts, but he deleted the message instead of sending it. Sharon walked into the restaurant, and Adam started to approach her, but she signaled him not to, and he left. Sharon suggested that she and Nate should get back to the hospital, but he said that sometimes when he had a tough case, it helped to step away and think. Faith texted asking for an update, and Sharon wasn’t sure what to say. Sharon questioned Nate about what Rey could have. She brought up the pain in his legs and feet. Nate knew she thought it could be neurological, and he wasn’t ruling that out. He explained that the trick was to figure out where the pains intersected with the symptoms they’d observed. Something clicked for Nate as he spoke, and he checked something out on his phone. Meanwhile, Sharon called Faith and promised Rey would be fine.

Nate was on the patio researching on his phone when Elena joined him. He thought she was there to discuss him breaking up with her. He understood why she wanted to talk, but it wasn’t a good time. She clarified that she was there about Rey. She brought up the pain in his legs. He said he thought he’d figured it out. She believed Rey had been poisoned. They simultaneously said thallium. Rey’s symptoms reminded her of a case she had as a resident, which she remembered because it was so unusual. She asked what brought him to the same conclusion, and he told her about a conversation he’d had awhile ago with a colleague. He was having the lab run some additional tests. He was glad she came to him, because he read about this in a medical journal, but it was more helpful to talk to someone who’d actually seen it in a clinical setting. They decided to go break the news to Sharon. Sharon was stunned and full of questions – how was Rey poisoned, what was thallium, were she and Faith exposed, was there a treatment? Nate got the lab results that confirmed the diagnosis. He told her the antidote, Prussian Blue, was being flown in from Chicago. He explained that he and Elena both came to the same conclusion about thallium, and he thanked Elena for talking it out with him. Elena smiled. Sharon thanked them, then she and Nate left for the hospital. Elena called Lola with the news.

Sharon and Nate went to Rey’s room, and Lola was no longer there. Sharon castigated herself for not bringing Rey to the hospital sooner. Nate mentioned that he’d seen Rey say he didn’t want to come to the hospital. He he didn’t think she should keep beating herself up over this. Sharon said Rey was dying, and it was her job to bring him to the hospital, and she failed him. She said he’d been by her side through her cancer treatment, and this was how she repaid him. Nate thought Sharon acted reasonably, given the information she had at the time. He said that most of Rey’s symptoms looked like the flu or food poisoning, and the blood work didn’t reveal any problems. He asked if she thought she was supposed to have a special power that let her see what doctors couldn’t. She wanted to know how Rey got poisoned and how long this had been going on. He said they’d answer the hows and whys once Rey was on the road to recovery. Sharon told the sleeping Rey that help was on the way. She told him he was loved and that they needed him to be okay. Nate returned and prepared to administer the antidote, while Sharon urged Rey to stay with her.

Chloe used a key to let herself into Chelsea and Adam’s penthouse and called for Meredith. She was surprised when Chelsea walked into the living room, only occasionally needing to grab the wall or furniture for stability. Chelsea said Meredith had to step out. Chelsea asked if Chloe did it. Chloe had completed the unidentified task Chelsea gave her, but she noted that the last shady thing she did before this was sneaking vegetables into Bella’s food. Chelsea was concerned she was asking too much, and Chloe assured her that she never had to worry about that. She stated that helping Chelsea get away from Adam was a dream come true. Chelsea lowered herself into her wheelchair and thanked Chloe for having her back. Chloe promised Chelsea could count on her, but she was nervous because she had two children at home who needed her. Chelsea promised Bella and Miles wouldn’t lose Chloe. Chelsea had planned this down to the smallest detail, and the only person who was going to suffer was Adam. Chloe was concerned about what that would entail. Chelsea said she wasn’t going to physically harm Adam, she was just removing him from her equation, and once she was free of him, she’d reveal to everyone that she’d recovered. Then she’d go to Connor and start a new life with him. That was all Chloe ever wanted. They heard the door opening, and Chelsea resumed pretending she was frozen in place.

Adam walked in, Chloe said Meredith had to step out. She asked Adam if everything was okay, and he said he’d discuss it with Chelsea. Chloe left. Adam confided that someone was sending texts to Sharon from his phone. He didn’t know what was happening, but he wanted Chelsea to know that he wasn’t the one doing it. He asked if she believed him, and she blinked yes. He said the texts made it look like he was trying to get Sharon back, but nothing could be further from the truth. “Impressive, that almost sounded believable,” Chelsea thought. Adam wondered who was messing with him. At first, he thought someone had used his phone, but the timestamps on the texts were from a point when he had his phone with him. She grumbled that he was keeping track of everything except where it counted – at home. He assumed he’d been hacked, and he wondered who did it and why. She mockingly called him Sherlock. He said he’d only been focusing on her recovery and working with Victor to acquire that company. “Why would someone do this to me?,” he asked. She commented on his staggering lack of self-awareness. He asked if it was realistic to think a hacker could do something like this without leaving a trail. He spotted his tablet and picked it up.

Adam saw the same texts on his tablet, and he theorized that someone sent the texts from his tablet. He asked if Chloe touched the tablet. He noted that Chloe had never been here alone, and he concluded that, as much as Chloe hated him, she’d never tamper with his tablet in front of Chelsea. Adam said that whoever did this would have to have access to his life and his devices. “It doesn’t make sense, does it? You can’t even bring yourself to say it because it just couldn’t be possible,” she thought to herself. He decided the only reasonable explanation was a hack. It would have to be someone who knew Sharon had been an issue for him and Chelsea. “An ‘issue?’ That’s what you’re calling her now?,” Chelsea thought. She added that, thanks to the photo, the entire town knew about Adam and Sharon. Adam swore that this was all in the past and that someone was stirring up trouble. He knew it sounded crazy to ask, but he questioned whether she had any idea who could’ve done this.

Adam said he was only asking Chelsea because so little of this made sense. He admitted the stroke and aneurysm were his fault, and he hated himself for what he did to her. He hated himself for so many things. He said her recovery had been slow, even with help from the top specialists. He asked her if there was something he should know. He promised that if there was something to be sorted out, they’d make it right. He gently asked if she was the one sending the texts, and she blinked no. He saw the pain in her eyes and apologized and asked himself what he was thinking. “I don’t know what the hell I’m talking about,” he said, and he walked off in distress.

At Jabot, Jack got a text from Phyllis telling him that she was still waiting to talk to him. He didn’t respond. Sally walked in with coffee for Jack, which she brought because she heard he had a meeting soon. He appreciated it, but he told her she didn’t have to do it. “I told you I was the best. Gotta prove it,” she said, before smiling and walking out.

At The Grand Phoenix, Phyllis called Jack, and he didn’t answer. Summer walked in and Phyllis rushed over and asked her to get more dirt on Sally. Summer stated that she and Kyle had a truce with Sally, and if Phyllis stirred up trouble, it might come back to bite Summer. Phyllis understood that Summer didn’t want Kyle’s affair to go public, but she was also convinced that there was more to the story that Summer wasn’t telling her. Summer revealed that the billionaire Kyle crossed was Ashland Locke. “Of all the women Kyle could’ve had an affair with, he picks this guy’s wife?,” Phyllis groaned. Phyllis met Ashland earlier, and he was polite and nice, but she thought he was sketchy. She believed he was dangerous. Summer was adamant that Phyllis couldn’t use the dirt Summer had on Sally, because if she did, Sally would go public with the affair. And if that happened, Ashland would go after Kyle and everyone he cared about. Phyllis nodded.

Kyle walked into the Jabot boardroom. Tara called from NY. She was worried because she thought Ashland knew about them. She said he’d barely opened his mouth on the flight home, and he was only quiet when something was troubling him. He assured her that things were fine. He thought she was jumping to conclusions because she just saw Kyle in Genoa City. She looked more relieved and said she was overthinking things. He teased that she’d never do that. He said that they survived the visit, and they could both go back to their lives. The call ended.

Kyle flashed back to Tara telling him that if Ashland found out, he’d crush them both. Kyle had suggested that meant he and Tara were in this together. She disagreed. She said Ashland treated her well, and she wasn’t going to put the life she had or her son’s life at risk by hurting him. She told Kyle to stay away. The flashback ended. Jack walked in and saw Kyle staring off into space. Jack was concerned, and he wanted to help. He promised he wouldn’t judge. Kyle snapped that he’d already said he was handling it. Sally returned, and Jack said it wasn’t a good time. She said Lauren needed Jack because there was a small emergency at Fenmore’s. He stated that he was talking to Kyle, now. Kyle said to go help Lauren, because he was fine. Jack wanted to talk later. He left. Sally lingered and asked what happened between Kyle and Jack. He sharply asked if it was any of her business. She said it might be, if it was about her. He snarled that his life didn’t revolve around her. She asked what it’d take to get him to trust her, and he said a miracle. She told him he’d better turn down the hate because she liked this town and she liked his dad, and she wasn’t going anywhere.

Kyle didn’t think there was anything Sally could say that would make him trust her with his father. She suggested she tell him why she was attracted to Jack. He already knew she wanted Jack’s money and power. She said he was wrong – she thought Jack was handsome, charming, thoughtful, sexy. He was not interested in discussing his father’s sex appeal. She understood. She asked how he’d feel if she assumed the only reason Tara appealed to him was her connection to one of the most powerful men in the world. He refused to discuss Tara with Sally. Sally said she’d made a deep meaningful connection with a man who was single, unlike Tara. She and Jack were just having fun and liked each other. He didn’t believe her. “What if Tara had been unattached when you two had hooked up?… Wouldn’t you two still be together?” she asked. He refused to have this conversation with her. She theorized that late at night, while Summer slept beside him, he’d thought about what might have been if Tara had left Ashland for him. “Kyle, Tara and baby makes three,” Sally mused. “That’s enough!,” Kyle bellowed. He closed the door.

Sally thought she hit a nerve. Kyle reiterated that Harrison was not his son. Sally asked if he was sure. He warned her she was playing with fire and said baseless accusations like this could hurt innocent children. She told him that denial didn’t make the problem go away. He stated that he was madly in love with Summer. Sally was sure that made things worse for Kyle, but she wasn’t judging, unlike him. He said she couldn’t, because she had no idea what went on between him and Tara. She countered that he didn’t know what was happening with her and Jack, so she wanted him to stop interfering. She told him to get a handle on his own chaos, because he had his hands full with Ashland and Summer. She left. Summer joined Kyle at Jabot, and he told her about Tara’s phone call. He was sure Tara was overreacting. He got a call from someone with a NY area code and got tense, but she pointed out that he did business with New Yorkers all the time. He answered and the person on the other end told him to hold for Ashland Locke.

Phyllis did a web search for Ashland Locke. Jack came up and impatiently told Phyllis to say what she’d wanted to say. She noted he didn’t respond to her texts or call, so she didn’t know when to expect him. He told her he’d been at work. She reiterated that he didn’t respond, and he pointed out that he was here now. She told him that it was a moot point now, because the situation had worked itself out. “So, you just gave me a hard time about not coming sooner for nothing?,” he asked. She said the issue magically disappeared, which happened sometimes. Jack shifted gears and asked if Summer had confided what was going on with Kyle. At first, Jack assumed Kyle and Summer were having problems, and now he thought it was something deeper. Phyllis pretended Summer didn’t say anything to her. Sally walked in, and Jack assumed he and Phyllis were done. “Yeah, we’re done, that’s what I’ve been trying to tell you,” she replied. He looked quizzical, but he let it go and went over to Sally. He and Sally left.
