At the cottage, Rey felt too sick to eat the chicken soup. His legs and feet were burning, and when Sharon tried to check on him, he told her not to touch them. She insisted on getting him help before he got worse. He thought she was overreacting, but she was sure hed do the same if it was her who was sick.
Elena walked into Crimson Lights and noticed her wrist was bare. She realized she mustve lost the bracelet during sex with Devon. Nate was in the restaurant, and he noticed that it seemed like she had a lot on her mind. She pretended she was thinking about a patient, and he asked if she wanted to talk. She politely declined. He said that even though things had been strained, he wanted to know what was going on with her. Elena was saved by Nates cell phone ringing. Sharon asked him to come check on Nate. Nate told Elena that he wanted to continue this conversation later. She said okay. Lola walked in and saw Nate leaving Elenas side.
Lola sensed Elena could use a friend. They went out to the patio. Elena confided shed slept with Devon again. Lola didnt want to judge, but she thought Elena was too smart and careful to let this happen again. Elena couldnt figure out why she was being so selfish and careless. She said Devon was seeing Amanda, and she was trying to make things work with Nate. Lola said Elenas actions suggested otherwise. Lola thought it was obvious Devon wanted it too, and Elena wasnt sure about that. Lola asked if Devon had been drunk. Elena said no, and Lola stated that Devon and Elena were only under the influence of what they felt for each other. After advising Elena to think about what she really wanted, Lola headed up to the apartment. Elena flashed back to sleeping with Devon.
Nate visited the cottage. He decided to draw some blood and do some tests on Rey. He asked Sharon to make a list of everything Rey ate today. Sharon had gone online to research burning legs and feet, and she was afraid it was neurological. Nate told her they were going to take it a step at a time and not jump to conclusions. Rey didnt want to go to the hospital, and Nate said hed do the blood draw here and take it to the lab. After Nate left, Rey apologized to Sharon for being so difficult about going to the doctor. He knew she was just trying to look out for him. She knew things got tense earlier, during therapy, and that they still had work to do, but the only thing that mattered to her was him. He assured her hed be be okay, and she said she was going to make sure of that. She loved him very much. He loved her too. He said he needed to rest, and she promised shed be there when he woke up.
Elena imagined that she and Devon were in the penthouse and that theyd rekindled their relationship. In her fantasy, they declared their love for each other and kissed. Things took a turn when Amanda burst in and caught Elena and Devon together. You dont even want him. Youre just mad that he was moving on with me, she accused. Nate appeared and tried to convince Elena that she belonged with him. Elena asked how to be with Nate, and he told her that all she had to do was let go of the past. Elenas daydream ended when Nate joined her on the Crimson Lights patio. He wanted to talk, and she tried to stall, so he said hed make it quick. He was finished being in limbo, so hed decided to move on and and end whatever they once had. He walked away.
Amanda dropped in to Devons unannounced. She hoped that was okay, and he said it was. Shed refined the language in his donor agreement, and she wanted to go over the changes with him before she filed it in the morning. He asked if all her clients got this special treatment. She said she was only concerned with the satisfaction of one particular client, but she thought he needed a housekeeper. He glanced over at the couch, which was still disheveled after his encounter with Elena. Amanda asked why things were so out of sorts. He said she discovered one of his secrets he could be a slob when he was tired. He offered her a beer, and she accepted. While he was in the kitchen, she began to tidy up, and she found Elenas bracelet. Amanda questioned Devon about it, and he said that Elena mustve left it when she was here earlier. Amanda asked if Elena came by often. He said not on a regular basis. He reached for the bracelet, but she didnt hand it over. She recalled seeing him with Elena and saying it was nice that they were still friends. After Amandas conversation with Nate, she sensed that he and Elena hit a rough patch, and she thought it was clear that Elena was confiding in Devon about it. Amanda thought it was time someone tell her what was going on.
Devon, who now had the bracelet, said that hed come to realize he played a part in his breakup with Elena. Amanda asked how. He said that hed spent a lot of time with Amanda before Elena cheated on him. Amanda said they were platonically bonding over Hilary. He knew, but Elena thought there was more to it, and given his current relationship with Amanda, he couldnt really say Elena was wrong. He said he and Elena were working through their unresolved issues by forgiving each other and understanding how and why things went wrong, so they didnt bring baggage into their next relationship. Amanda asked how concerned she should be about all this. Devon had convinced himself that Elena was selfish and never cared about him, and now he realized that wasnt true. He said that what he and Elena had wasnt meant to be, and he wanted to move on with Amanda. He thought he and Elena needed closure. Amanda never thought of herself as jealous, but Devon didnt mean to make her feel that way. He was working through things he thought he already had. She looked uncomfortable. She wished him luck with that and rushed out.
In their suite, Summer questioned Kyles decision to walk away from his son. He was adamant that he knew what he was doing. She felt that he was giving up so much by letting everyone think that Harrison was Ashlands son. He thought this was best for everyone. She was concerned hed regret this. He didnt doubt his decision Harrison had two loving parents and that was what mattered. He was glad he told her the truth about Harrison, since secrets caused problems for them in the past. She wished he wouldve realized she could handle it earlier. He said he was afraid of losing her. She said the only way hed lose her if he lied to her, because there was nothing they couldnt get through. He felt like they were even stronger because of this situation. He believed they could handle whatever the world threw at them as long as they were together. She thought that needed to be celebrated, so he decided to take her to Society.
At Society, Jack asked Abby how the baby project was going. She told him that in a year, he could be a great uncle, because she just had her egg retrieval. They harvested ten eggs, some were being set aside and frozen and others were being fertilized. Ashland and Tara walked in, and Jack said the day kept getting better and better. Ashland introduced Jack as Genoa City royalty, son of John Abbott. He reminded Tara that theyd met Jacks son, Kyle. Jack introduced his niece, Abby Newman Abbott Chancellor, and he asked if he got that right. She said yes. Abby asked how they all knew each other, and Ashland said he did business with her grandfather. Abby went to let the chef know they had some special guests tonight. Jack told Ashland that his father drilled every move and countermove of that deal into his head. Ashland hoped Jack didnt hold a grudge on it. Jack didnt he said it was a valuable lesson on dealing with a tough businessman and come out ahead. Ashland told Tara that John was one of the few successful businessmen who didnt have a ruthless bone in his body, unlike Ashland. Tara said Ashland was only tough when the situation called for it. Jack understood that Ashland might be doing business with his brother, Billy. Ashland liked Billys pitch. Jack thought Billy had a certain something that couldnt be taught vision, and fearlessness. Ashland appreciated the way Jack advocated for his brother and followed in his fathers footsteps. Ashland hoped that his own son would carry on the family business one day. Tara noted that Harrison was a little young for corporate takeovers. Tara looked uncomfortable when Jack said Harrison would be lucky to be mentored by his father. Ashland asked Jack to join them for dinner, but Jack was meeting someone else, so Ashland suggested drinks in the lounge, and Jack accepted.
Ashland recalled that Kyle lived in NY for awhile. Jack said Kyle worked in the NY office and sowed some wild oats, but he returned ready to work and exceeded his expectations. Tara liked using Jabot products. She excused herself and on her way to the restroom, she saw Kyle and Summer walk in. She shot Kyle an icy look. Kyle told Summer they should leave before anyone else saw them, but it was too late Jack and Ashland were looking in their direction. Jack asked invited them to join, but Kyle said they were just grabbing takeout and going back to the office. Ashland called them a man and woman after his own heart. Ashland said Jack had just been singing Kyles praises. Ashland hoped to do business with the new generation of Abbotts one day. Kyle said that Ashland could do that if he sold Cyaxares to his uncle Billy. Ashland laughed and said he liked Kyle.
Kyle went over to the bar, where Abby was, while Summer headed toward the restrooms. She caught Tara coming out and told announced that she and Kyle didnt keep secrets from each other. How lovely for you. What do you want, was Taras terse reply. Summer thought it was becoming a habit of Taras to pop into Genoa City first shed come to talk to Kyle, and now she was back. Tara said she was jut in town with her husband. She had no ulterior motives, and there was nothing for Summer to worry about. Summer wasnt worried. Tara warned Summer about the inquisitive redhead who invited her to coffee. Summer knew it was Sally. Tara said shed manage her own affairs, and she suggested Summer do the same. Tara joined Ashland and Jack. Ashland saw Tara and Kyle exchanging an intense stare.
Abby asked Kyle how things were with Summer. He said theyd come out of a rough patch and they felt like they could breathe again they loved and trusted each other and thought they could handle whatever was thrown at them. Abby was happy for them. She said when you found your perfect match, things fell into place. She conceded that there would be challenges, like when your new husband left town on a mission right after you decided to have a baby with a surrogate. She wanted Kyle to remember the good, uncomplicated times, because life changed so quickly. Abby felt that Kyle and Summer should get engaged, after all the time it took them to decide they wanted to be together. He promised there was no way hed ever let Summer go again.
Kyle and Summer got their takeout. Kyle wished Ashland luck with his business dealings. Ashland said it wasnt about luck the key was being able to read your competition, figure out what they were trying to hide and how far theyd go to get what they wanted, and what they were terrified theyd lose. Good to know, Kyle replied. He told Tara to enjoy her evening, and she said it was nice to see him again. Ashland watched Tara intently. In the cloakroom, Summer told Kyle that he could relax. Hed found the experience excruciating. She didnt think Ashland suspected anything, but Kyle senses told him otherwise. Summer thought Ashland just liked to keep people on their toes. She thought he handled Ashland like a pro.
Back in the dining room, Jack said his goodbyes, but he wished that Ashland and Tara could get a chance to know Kyle. He asked when they were leaving. Ashland said theyd be leaving as soon as business was concluded, as they hated to be away from their son. Tara glanced behind her and saw Kyle looking in the window.
