Victoria was in her office about to send a text to Billy when Nikki walked in. Ashland was coming today, and Victoria was ready to convince him that Newman was the right choice for Cyaxares. Nikki noted that Victoria had done a 180 on this subject. Victoria replied that this acquisition was another feather in Newman’s cap, and it could never have too many. Nikki told Victoria not to pretend this wasn’t personal, given that she was going up against her father, brother and ex husband. Victoria said of course it was personal, but that wasn’t going to affect her negotiation with Ashland. Nikki wondered if it mattered to Victoria that her COO wasn’t on board. Victoria maintained that it was a good business decision. She asked Nikki to listen to her pitch. Nikki refused to do so until Victoria admitted that this had nothing to do with business. Victoria huffed and admitted she was doing this to protect the father of her children. She didn’t want an all out war between Billy and Adam, because Billy and ChanceComm wouldn’t survive that, and then what would happen to Johnny and Katie? Nikki said Billy wouldn’t like this, because he was never the kind of man who wanted or needed protection. She thought Victoria was doing this because she loved Billy and wanted him back.

Victoria denied pining for Billy. Nikki said she knew Victoria, and she’d seen her putting herself back into Billy’s orbit. Victoria pointed out that she was trying to buy the company Billy wanted, which wouldn’t win him over. Nikki thought that Victoria wanted to prove to Billy how far she was still willing to go for him. She suggested that Victoria might even sell Cyaxares to Billy. Victoria admitted she had an ulterior motive for Cyaxares, but it was about Victor, not Billy. Victoria was angry that Victor tried to use Adam to goad her into buying Cyaxares. She overheard Victor say he wanted to see which of his kids used this opportunity to his advantage, and so she was accepting his challenge, and she planned to beat him at his own game. Nikki pointed out that Victoria was still doing what Victor wanted her to do. Victoria said she was doing it for her own reasons, not for the ones Victor’s.

Victoria asked Nikki to listen to her pitch. Nikki had misgivings about what Victoria was doing, and she didn’t approve of Victor’s antics, but she did work for Newman, and she knew what an asset Victoria and Newman were, so she decided to listen. Victoria smiled and made her speech. She said Newman had a long history of success and years of experience and could take Cyaxares to the next level. She added that they were making a substantial financial offer.

Nikki thought Lily and Billy were a formidable team. Victoria said she didn’t need anyone else. Nikki said Victoria didn’t have to do everything on her own, and Victoria countered that sometimes her family gave her no choice. Victoria saw Ashland as her equal. After dealing with Victor for all these years, she thought she could pretty much handle anyone. Nikki thought Victoria was as ready and determined as she’d ever seen her.

Lily and Billy were in one of their suites. She asked which outfit she should wear, and he thought she’d look great in either. She wondered why he was lounging around in his pajamas instead of getting ready, and he assured her that he was prepared. He pitched the idea of shower sex as a relaxation method before their meeting, and she was on board. After they were dressed, Jack came by. He thought that, as their main investor, he should hear their final pitch. Billy got a notification that Victoria was the third bidder. He called and left her a message asking what the hell was going on. Jack marveled that Victoria was ready to compete with her own father. Billy agreed it was a hell of a move, but it was too bad it was against ChanceComm. Lily said so much for Billy’s theory that Victoria would never go behind his back. She said they’d have to rethink their whole strategy.

Billy and Lily revamped their pitch to account for Victoria being a competitor. They read it for Jack and said they had significant resources, but were lean enough to move fast. They’d make decisions both with their heads and their hearts. While the Newmans were at each other’s throats, Lily and Billy were not. Jack said to tread carefully because Ashland was ruthless. Lily stated that Ashland was still human, and she thought they could find ways to connect with him. Billy said he and Lily had a two to one advantage. Jack thought they were lucky to have each other, and he had faith in them.

At the penthouse, Chelsea stood up, but her slight smile gave way to panic when Adam strolled downstairs looking at his phone.

Sharon was upset when she noticed that yet another gift from Adam was missing from her living room. She called him. Back at the penthouse, Adam answered the call, giving Chelsea the chance to sit back down without him noticing she’d been out of the chair. Sharon needed to see Adam now, and he said he’d come. He told Chelsea he was going to meet Victor, then he left. Chelsea texted Chloe to come over. Chloe arrived and sent Meredith out for a break. Chelsea showed off her ability to stand and take a step, while explaining that she was improving every day. Chelsea directed Chloe to a bag hidden under the couch cushions and asked her to hold onto it for a few days and make sure no one else saw what was inside.

Chloe wanted to know what this was all about. Chelsea would only say that this involved some payback for Adam. It ensured that she’d be able to walk away and that he couldn’t follow her. That didn’t make Chloe feel better, but Chelsea said she couldn’t say more. She understood if Chloe wanted to back out. Chloe was still all in, because she loved Chelsea, but she knew better than anyone that delivering payback to Adam was like playing with fire. Chelsea said she was playing with fire, but in the best possible way. The fire was driving her recovery. She knew this was exactly what she needed. Chloe supported Chelsea all the way, but she asked if Chelsea was sure about this. Chelsea said her life completely fell apart in the elevator, all because Adam insisted on doing something sketchy behind her back. She said he didn’t trust her, and now she didn’t trust him either. She had to do whatever it took to break free from him and start a new life. Chloe was all for life without Adam, but she was concerned other people would be affected by what Chelsea was planning. Chelsea said this was only about Adam. She wanted to get out of this situation soon. She didn’t know how much longer she could stomach watching Sharon and Victor suck Adam back in.

Adam met Sharon at Crimson Lights, and he was caught off guard when she asked if he broke into her house and stole some stuff. He noted that he hadn’t been accused of robbery in awhile. She explained that some gifts he gave her years ago had gone missing, and she wondered if he took them out of revenge for her cutting him out of her life. He hoped she knew him well enough to know that was beneath her. He asked what disappeared. She told him about the figurine and a little tray from Lake Tahoe. He recalled that they got married there. He swore he’d never violate her privacy by breaking into her house, but she noted he’d done worse before. He suggested that Rey took them, and she said Rey didn’t know the items were related to Adam. Adam asked why Sharon kept them after all this time. She said they were just knickknacks that sat somewhere for so long you didn’t notice them anymore, and he shouldn’t read more into it. He said it was kind of hard not to when people were stealing pieces of their shared history. She told him there must be some other explanation and said to forget she asked. She asked about Chelsea, and he said there had been no progress. She was sorry.

Adam told Sharon that he and Victor might be working together. That meant he’d be staying in town for the foreseeable future. Victor arrived, and Adam said his meeting was here. He was going to go. She said wait, and she said that he and Victor must’ve patched things up. He said he and Victor had worked through their issues and Victor had become one of his strongest allies. He clarified that Victor was his only ally, and he walked away. Sharon closed her eyes, then she turned and looked at Adam and Victor on the patio.

Adam was ready to talk business, but Victor wanted to know about Adam’s conversation with Sharon. Adam said it was just a small misunderstanding, and he steered the conversation back to the meeting with Ashland. Victor said that Ashland wasn’t an easy guy to deal with. Adam had done his research and learned Ashland was a master manipulator who enjoyed the game of business. Victor smiled and asked if that sounded familiar. Victor wanted to make sure he and Adam were the ones doing the manipulating today. Adam read that Ashland liked to use his potential buyers as pawns. He brought up a nasty hostile takeover that Ashland had been involved in. Victor knew of it – it happened in Dubai, while Victor was also there for Newman business. Victor had heard the stories about Ashland, but they’d never met.

Adam was surprised Victor wanted him to take the lead on the pitch. Victor said they were partners, and he’d help Adam when he needed him, but Adam would be running the company. He wanted to hear what Adam would say to Ashland. Adam gave his pitch – he and Victor had the deep pockets of Newman without the baggage of a conglomerate. He said he’d do what it took to let Cyaxares thrive. Victor didn’t think Billy stood a chance against Adam, but he advised against underestimating Lily. Adam wasn’t going to focus on Lily and Billy. He was concentrating on Ashland. According to Victor, Ashland was known to have a giant ego, and he told Adam to massage it. Victor was having fun with this, and he asked if Adam was ready. He was.

Nick brought Faith to Society. She looked uncomfortable, and Lola told her that she fired the busboy who took the photo of Sharon and Adam. Faith appreciated that. Lola wouldn’t stand for someone violating the restaurant rules and hurting people she loved. Nick went to take a call. Lola promised Faith that Society was a safe place. She added that a lot of bullies lost their nerve when they were confronted or lost their veil of anonymity. Lola said she’d always be here if Faith needed to talk or hang out. Faith teased that Lola literally was always there – a workaholic. She was grateful Lola was a cool aunt. Nick returned, and Lola went back to the kitchen. Nick told Faith that the girl who put the vodka in her locker confessed. He praised her for her bravery in coming forward, and he told her the school had a confidential way for her to report any retaliation. She was nervous about going back to school, and he told her that her boarding school was on option, but he stressed that no one wanted that, especially Christian. She didn’t want to run away, because then the bullies won.

Nick took Faith home, and he sent her upstairs to do her homework. Sharon asked if Nick really thought Faith was okay. He was still worried. Sharon was too, about more things than he knew. Faith’s moods and ups and downs made Sharon wonder if she was bipolar, like Sharon. He said most kids experimented with alcohol. That wasn’t a sign of a mental health episode. She explained that some knickknacks had gone missing, and she hated to think that Faith would steal. She’d asked Faith about it, and she denied it. He thought they should believe Faith after the locker incident. Sharon noted that her bipolar disorder first manifested with stealing. It killed Sharon to consider it, because Faith seemed so much better and stronger, but what if this was exactly what Sharon went through? He asked if this was her professional opinion, and she said possibly. She hadn’t noticed any other bipolar behavior, and she had been keeping an eye on it, but she couldn’t rule it out. He liked to think there was some other reason for things going missing than Faith lying, stealing or suffering from bipolar disorder. She hoped he was right, but she couldn’t think of any other reason why the things would go missing. She knew Rey wouldn’t do it, and there was no reason for a burglar to steal cheap things and leave the expensive items. He was sure Faith wasn’t responsible, but he knew she had some things she needed to work through. Faith came downstairs and overheard Sharon say “Faith has a lot more to process beyond bullying.” He added that Faith should go to therapy. Faith sat down on the steps and looked thrown.

Faith got a text from the mystery person calling her brave like a warrior. She asked who they were, and they sent her a male emoji. She asked if they were a guy, and they sent a thumbs up. She asked if they could meet. She said her parents didn’t trust her, and she had no friends, so it would be nice to meet someone who saw her as brave. They sent back a heart emoji.

Sharon told Nick that she and Rey were doing couple’s therapy, and the first session was this afternoon. She was a little apprehensive, but she was sure it’d be fine. He was sure she and Rey would get through it. He asked about the missing items, and she tensed and said it was a figurine and tray. He asked why she thought Faith would steal something so insignificant, and she said she didn’t know. He hoped she was more honest with her therapist than she was being with him.

All three potential buyers for Cyaxares Media got calls that Ashland had arrived.
