In the Jabot boardroom, Summer was left reeling by the news that Kyle was a father. She asked when he found out. He carefully said not long ago. He was sorry he didn’t say something sooner, but he had to check. She asked if he waited for confirmation before he came to her. She asked if that was the real reason he was going to NY. Sally entered and surmised she walked in on something. Summer said she didn’t, and she and Kyle left. Jack arrived, and Sally said she had a present for him. It was a suit jacket, and she wanted him to try it on now. He wanted to wait, since this was a place of business, but after she assumed he hated it, he put it on. She had him take off his tie, and she told him he was drop-dead gorgeous. He invited her to dinner tonight at his place, and she accepted. Lauren came in, and she complimented Sally on the ideas she’d written up for streamlining things at Fenmore’s. She appreciated Sally’s initiative. Sally said thanks, promised there was more where that came from, then she left.

Lauren warned Jack that Phyllis was concerned about his relationship with Sally. Jack said he made it clear to Phyllis that he didn’t care about her opinion of Sally. Lauren thought Phyllis meant well. She said Phyllis found out that Sally did extensive online research on Jack and his family. He asked how Phyllis found out. Phyllis had glossed over that, so Lauren didn’t think it was above board. Lauren said she told Phyllis that she was overreacting and that whatever was going on with Sally was his business. However, Lauren was a little curious how serious this thing was. It wasn’t serious yet, but he wasn’t ruling that out for later, and he had his eyes wide open. Lauren guessed Sally gave Jack the designer jacket. “Sally has great taste, and I’m not just talking about the clothes,” he said.

In a hotel suite, Summer asked Kyle if his son was the boy she saw a picture of on his tablet, whom he’d claimed was a child of a friend. He said yes. He explained that he wanted to be sure it was real and not a story Theo concocted for Sally to use against him. She pointed out that he didn’t tell her as soon as he found out. He said on top of the shock that he was a father, he was thinking of the fallout if Tara’s husband found out, because according to her, Ashland adored Harrison. “Harrison? That’s your son’s name?,” she asked. He said that there was a reason Ashland had a reputation for being so ruthless, and if he found out, there was no telling how far he’d go. She noted that her grandpa had the same reputation, and he wasn’t as scary as he pretended to be, but he insisted that Ashland was different. He said Ashland would go after him, Tara and everyone he loved. Even worse, Ashland might cut Harrison out, and that could scar the boy for life. He didn’t want to be responsible for an innocent child losing the only father he’d ever known. She understood why he had to process this, because it was so much to deal with. She asked if she, Sally, and Theo were the only other people who knew about Harrison’s paternity. He said he told Sally that Harrison wasn’t his, but he was pretty sure she didn’t buy it. He admitted Mariah knew too, and Summer was furious because she felt he trusted Mariah and not her. He that he did trust her, but he was terrified of losing her again.

Kyle told Summer how Tara intercepted him when he was about to leave for NY, and under pressure, she admitted Harrison was his son. Tara didn’t want to discuss it again, and she left. Summer asked Kyle what he wanted. He said he had to pretend it never happened, but she didn’t agree. She said if he wanted, they could do something about his son. She thought he should talk to Jack for advice, but he wasn’t ready for that. She urged him to keep an open mind and take it one step at a time. He thought she was incredible for the way she was looking out for him after he’d dropped this massive news on her. He was grateful to have her in his life. He was sorry he put her through this. She felt for him. He asked where this left them. She needed time to think, and he understood.

Summer went downstairs, and Phyllis went up to her. She said she’d seen Kyle leaving earlier with the weight of the world on his shoulders. She asked if there was more to the story of Kyle’s affair or if Sally was just messing with Summer. Summer said there was more to the story. Phyllis wanted to know more, but then she said Summer didn’t have to tell her. She just wanted to know how Summer was doing. Summer wiped away a tear. She said Kyle’s connection to the ex was deeper than she thought. Phyllis asked if Summer thought Kyle still had feelings for the ex, and Summer said no. Summer was hurt that Kyle didn’t confide in her sooner. She thought he had more faith in their relationship, but he was afraid he’d scare her off. Phyllis could see where Kyle was coming from. Summer asked if Phyllis was siding with Kyle. Phyllis said she was completely on Summer’s side. Phyllis thought that Kyle had been completely devoted to Summer since they got back together, and Summer was the happiest she’d been in her life. Summer said she knew Kyle loved her as much as she loved him, and as upset as she was, she couldn’t let this come between them. Phyllis told Summer to hold onto her man and not to give Sally the power. Summer said she wouldn’t give Sally the satisfaction. She wanted as little to do with Sally as possible.

After Summer left, Jack showed up. He chided Phyllis about invading Sally’s privacy. She moaned that Lauren ratted her out. She said she had his best interests at heart. He believed that, but he said she was off base. He knew she had issues with Sally because of her issues with Summer, but Summer and Sally buried the hatchet, and he wanted Phyllis to do the same. She implored him to take care of himself, because Sally was more problematic than he thought. He said he’d be fine.

Sally ran into Kyle at Society. She mentioned that things were intense when she saw him and Summer at Jabot. He told her it was none of her business. She asked if the truth came out about “you know who.” He snapped that he and Summer were just fine, even if they weren’t joined at the hip. He said he sometimes ventured out alone, as Sally evidently had. She explained that Jack invited her to dinner, so she was picking up some of Society’s Cuban cookies for dessert. He sharply asked her to stay away from his father. He said she’d been hurt by women like her before, and he didn’t want that to happen again. Kyle said Jack was a wealthy man, and Sally was new to town and trying to establish herself. Through gritted teeth, he told her to try and be objective about this. She was offended he was calling her a gold digger. She didn’t care about Jack’s money or name. She said he was her mentor and they had fun together. There was no plot. Kyle thought he struck a nerve. She thought they’d agreed not to make trouble for each other. He asked if that was a threat. He didn’t want his father ending up hurt and disappointed again. She didn’t want that either. She truly enjoyed Jack’s company, and the feeling was mutual.

Kyle went back to the suite and he was surprised Summer was there. She said she realized she belonged here, by his side. He’d been worried she wouldn’t forgive him, and he didn’t think he could’ve survived that. He said he’d never loved or needed anyone as much as her. She promised they were in this together, no matter what.

Jack was at his place with Sally. He told her about all the compliments he got on his jacket, and he toasted to his new fashion guru. She smiled and said not to tempt her.

Christine arrived at the Chancellor house to handle the legal agreements. Abby explained that Chance asked her to move forward with the process in the letter that Christine delivered for him. Christine commented on Nina’s excitement and asked how Jill felt. Abby said she and Nina spoke to her a couple times, but they were going to tell her everything in a video chat tonight. Ashley arrived unexpectedly, to Abby’s delight. Christine read over Mariah and Devon’s legal agreements, and Abby said she was okay with everything they said. She didn’t think there would be any surprises, since Mariah and Devon were her best friends. Christine said complications could arise, and if Abby had any suggestions, she should mention them now, so Christine could get Devon and Mariah to sign off on it. Abby wanted Tessa and Mariah to move in so that she could be part of every second of the pregnancy. Ashley thought that was lovely, but Nina didn’t think it’d work. Christine left. Nina didn’t think Chance would want everyone living in one case, if something went wrong with the pregnancy. Ashley thought Nina was right, and she said that if something bad happened, Chance would want to be there to support Abby.

Jill called, eager for all the baby news. She thought it was wonderful that Devon would be involved. Abby brought up her idea for Mariah and Tessa to move in. Jill thought it was a terrible idea. She said everyone thought the house was huge, but she lived there for years with Esther, and the walls closed in like a vice. Abby told Jill what Nina thought of the idea. Abby agreed with Nina about how Chance would feel. However, if he were there, Abby said she’d tell him that no one could protect her from heartbreak. If something did go wrong, she wanted to be there for Mariah. She said she lost a child, so she’d hope for the best and prepare for the worst, but she and Mariah were in this together, along with everyone else in the room. Nina and Ashley thought Chance would say Abby was right. Jill pointed out that Mariah and Tessa could say no, but she guessed they wouldn’t be as annoying to live with as Esther.

Amanda was pleasantly surprised to run into Nate at the hotel. He seemed deep in thought, and she asked if he’d like her to lend an ear or leave him to think. He asked her to distract him. She asked what he and Elena had been doing since they got back from the trip. He said he’d been busy, and he asked how she’d been spending her time. She and Devon had been watching a lot of foreign films, and she’d realized that she forgot most of the French she learned in college. She said she and Devon were taking things slow, and she was enjoying this chapter of her life. Between Devon and meeting her birth mother, 2021 was full of surprises. She couldn’t believe how well it was going, and she was kind of waiting for the other shoe to drop. Nate abruptly got up to leave, saying he had an appointment. Amanda assured Nate that she’d love to help. He said that listening to her say she was moving forward in life convinced him to do the same.

Devon approached a pensive Elena at Crimson Lights. She admitted things weren’t going well with Nate, and Devon was apologetic if his night with Elena ruined things for her and Nate. He mentioned that Amanda picked up on the tension insisted between Nate and Elena. Elena asked what Amanda said. He told her that Amanda thought Elena and Nate moved fast and that they probably should’ve navigated the baggage before jumping into a relationship. Elena said Amanda had good instincts. She hoped Amanda didn’t suspect that Devon and Elena shared a night. He said she didn’t. He knew Elena wouldn’t tell Amanda, but he wasn’t sure about Nate. She didn’t think Nate would do anything to cause problems for Devon and Amanda. She said Nate was waiting for her to say Devon was out her system. She admitted she wasn’t sure he was out of her system.

Elena hadn’t been able to get that night out of her head. It brought back memories of what she and Devon once had. She cared about Nate, but she’d be lying if she said she was over Devon. She said Nate didn’t deserve that, besides, he’d probably see through her, since she was a terrible liar. She didn’t expect Devon to feel the same way, but he asked so she wanted to be honest. He confessed that he kept thinking about that night too, and he’d been trying to figure out what that meant, but he couldn’t find an answer. She added that he was with Amanda. He said being with Amanda felt good and special, which was why this was so complicated and confusing. Amanda walked in, and Elena greeted her and left. Amanda said she forwarded the draft Devon’s donor agreement to Abby’s attorney. He appreciated Amanda for writing it up the way he asked. She admitted it took her a minute to understand his point of view. She admired the way he handled things with Abby. She said he was a good man and good friend, and it was no wonder Elena still confided in him. Amanda thought it was nice that Devon and Elena were still friends. She mentioned that she spoke to Nate, and she could tell there was trouble between him and Elena. She hoped they could get through it, but sometimes things were too complicated to resolve easily.

At Society, Elena told Nate how much he meant to her. She never wanted to hurt him, and she thought he was amazing, but she still loved Devon.
