Lily smiled when she saw that Billy had decorated her office for Valentine’s day. She opened the card and it said “what did the bee say to his sweetheart?” He walked in, and she asked about the significance of the question. He promised to tell her in due time, unless she knew the answer to the riddle without any help. She came up with some answers, all involving bee-related love puns, but they were all wrong. Just as he was about to say something, Victoria showed up with the valentines that the kids made for Billy. He said she didn’t have to come all this way now, but she told him the kids insisted.

Billy said he’d go to his office to read them, so Lily could have her office back, but Lily said to stay, because she’d love to hear them. Victoria decided to stay as well, since the kids wouldn’t let her read them. Billy read the cards – the kids included short messages about loving him. Victoria said they were similar to the cards the kids gave her. Billy noticed another envelope in the card from Katie. It was for Lily. Lily was touched. Victoria said she had no idea Katie made Lily a card, but she wasn’t surprised. “Happy Valentine’s day to Daddy’s new best girlfriend. From your favorite kids, Johnny and Katie,” it said. Lily and Billy smiled, but Victoria didn’t. Hannah called Victoria because Katie fell on some ice and hurt her arm. Victoria and Billy left. Lily picked up a gift meant for Billy.

At Victoria’s, she and Billy were glad that Katie just had a bruise and wasn’t seriously hurt. She apologized for interrupting his cute little Valentine thing with Lily. He wondered if she was really sorry. Part of him felt like Victoria didn’t want him to experience joy ever again. She asked why she’d feel that way. He suggested that she didn’t want him to be happy after the things he did to her. She said that wasn’t true. He said he was happier with Lily – happier than he’d been in a long time. She was happy for him. She told him he should get going instead of keeping Lily waiting. He said he’d call Katie later.

Billy went back to work, and Lily gave him his gift – his favorite aged single malt scotch. He opened it and they had a glass while eating Lily’s chocolate. The flavor combination worked. She asked for the answer to the riddle. It was “I love bee-ing with you, honey.” It was something his father used to say to him when he was a kid. He said his father was a good man. Lily agreed. She said her mother and her aunt Mamie loved John, too. She thought Billy was becoming more and more like his father every day in all the best ways. He said that was the nicest thing anyone ever said to him. She wasn’t ready to say this before, but she was now – she was falling in love with him too.

Elena was happy to run into Nate at Crimson Lights. She asked him to wait a minute, then she rushed out. She returned and asked how he was. He was okay. She’d been doing a lot of thinking about what she wanted, and she hoped he was okay with being patient. He didn’t expect an answer overnight. She gave him the gift she’d bought while they were in Manzanillo, and she hoped that he’d accept it even though things changed. He took it – it was a shirt. She wanted to say something, but she didn’t get a chance because Amanda came in, and she said hello. He assumed she was getting a coffee before heading to work. She clarified she was meeting Devon. Amanda mentioned that Nate told her how gorgeous Manzanillo was.

Devon came, and Elena told him he looked well. Devon asked if Elena and Nate had Valentine’s day plans. Elena said she had to work, and Nate said he did too. Amanda said she and Devon should let Elena and Nate enjoy their time before work. They went to the patio. Now that they were alone, Nate wanted to hear what Elena was going to say earlier. She said she ran into Devon and she told him that Nate knew about their night together. She felt that she’d already caused enough damage keeping things from him and Devon, and she didn’t want to keep making the same mistake. She already felt guilty enough as it was. Nate said that beating herself up wasn’t going to help. He thought it was clear that Amanda didn’t know, though. Elena thought it was Devon’s decision to tell her. She saw no point in undermining the relationship as it was beginning. He agreed.

Out on the patio, Amanda mentioned that she saw tension between Nate and Elena. She remembered that Nate seemed off yesterday when she ran into him at the hotel. Amanda assumed that their past baggage was making it difficult for Nate and Elena to move forward in a relationship. Devon said that was possible. Amanda said she’d been there, done that and she had no intention of doing it again. She was glad she and Devon spent time getting to know each other, so now they could enjoy the moment instead of getting bogged down in the past. He knew she said she wanted a lowkey Valentine’s day, but he got her a card. She had one for him too.

Amanda’s gift to Devon was a gift card for a massage at the Grand Phoenix. She said it was tricky to choose it, and she worried it was more or less than he expected. He said she had no idea how perfect it was. He told her to open hers. She did – he bought her the exact same thing. She suggested they combine the gift and get a couple’s massage. He loved the idea. She asked what he was thinking about. He mentioned that he had an interesting conversation with Mariah. He explained that Abby and Chance were going to use Abby’s egg, a sperm donor and Mariah was going to be a surrogate. Amanda wondered why Devon was sharing this personal information with her. He said he’d been thinking about it, and she’d asked what he was thinking. She wondered if he was thinking of starting a family. He said no. she knew he and Abby were close. He said that Mariah told him how happy Chance and Abby were that they knew their surrogate, but they were nervous about choosing an anonymous donor. With Chance out of town, Abby was being forced to make these hard decisions on her own. Amanda was sure they’d cherish this child after all they’d have to go through to get them. Devon felt bad, because Abby and Chance had been through a lot, and he thought they needed all the help and support they could get. Amanda thought he was such a good friend. Devon cared about all three of them, and he was impressed with Mariah stepping up. He wished there was something he could do to help them out.

Nick went to the hotel looking for Phyllis. She wasn’t there, but an employee gave him the card she’d left. It was shaped like a giant heart and it said to meet her at Society. He called someone he’d placed an order to and told them to redirect the delivery to Society. Nick went to Society and he saw Phyllis surrounded by the exotic flowers he’d ordered. She loved them. He mentioned that the place was empty, and she told him she reserved the entire restaurant. She confessed that he actually reserved it, because she called Society and pretended to be his assistant, reasoning that Abby would never let her rent out the entire place. She toasted to a magical night, and he didn’t look happy. She asked if he was mad about her making the reservation under his name. He wasn’t. He said something else was going on. Nina got Nick a Nintendo Switch and a game. She wanted to play it with him, but she figured he should play it with Faith first, so they could do something fun instead of having heavy conversations all the time. She also gave him some lingerie. He wanted to see her in it ASAP, so they left.

At the cottage, Sharon looked through a photo album at pictures of Faith when she was little. Rey came downstairs and Sharon asked if he was hungry. He was fine. There was a knock on the door, and Rey went to it. He returned with a flower arrangement. She said it looked like her bridal bouquet. She assumed he ordered it awhile ago, and he said he went to a florist at the beginning of the week, because he’d wanted to hand write the card. She asked if she should still read it, and he said yes. It said he felt like the luckiest man alive because he got to be her husband, and he asked her to be his for the rest of their lives. She thought it was beautiful. She gave him his card. It said that finding him was the best thing that ever happened to her. She melted when she looked into his big brown eyes. She was proud to be his wife, grateful for his love, quiet strength and unshakable belief that there was nothing they couldn’t accomplish as long as they were together. She’d said her heart was his, now and forever. He remembered that she said now and forever when they got married. She meant it then and now. He wanted to believe that. She asked if they could get back to what they had before.”Before Adam came between us again?,” he asked. She knew they needed to resolve their Adam issues, but she hoped they could hold off, because she didn’t want Adam to be part of this moment. This was about her and Rey, no one else. He appreciated that, but he thought Faith needed to be the priority.

Rey wanted to set their issue aside and focus on helping Sharon deal with her anguish over her daughter. She thanked him and said she could use some of his insight and strength. She felt like a bad mother. He said she was a wonderful mother, and Faith was a great kid in a bad place. He thought that Faith was afraid that if she was honest with Sharon and Nick, she’d get judged. Sharon knew Faith needed help, but she couldn’t force her to get it. It seemed like everything she said pushed Faith further away. He remembered when Lola was that age – he tried to help, and Lola accused him of talking at her, not with her. At the time he didn’t see it, but that was how Lola perceived it. Sharon wondered if that was what was happening with Faith. He thought kids at that age just wanted to feel heard. She said that she was so distressed about Faith getting suspended, then finding out she’d been bullied. She got caught up in trying to figure out a plan to fix it. She wanted to remind Faith that they were on the same side and that she heard her and loved her for who she was. Sharon thought that was all everyone wanted, and Rey agreed.

Sharon showed Rey pictures of Faith, including one of Faith and Patches. They didn’t know Faith was sitting on the stairs. Sharon reminisced about how much Faith loved riding her horse. Faith smiled. Sharon recalled how nervous she was the first time Faith was going to make a jump on Patches. Sharon had tried to talk Faith out of it, but Faith said to trust her. Faith had tears in her eyes. She put a card on the stairs and went back up to the second floor. Downstairs, Sharon continued the story – Faith made a successful jump, and Sharon was so proud. Sharon tearfully remembered that she congratulated Faith and asked how it felt. Faith had said it was a piece of cake.

Sharon thanked Rey for listening to her reminisce. He enjoyed learning more about Faith. She felt like her brain was scrambled, so he told her to go for a walk and clear her head while he heated up some cider for her. She said he was taking care of her again. He said she was going through a rough time, and he was her husband. She decided to go check on Faith before she left. She saw the card on the stairs. It said that even when they fought, Sharon was always there for her. Faith didn’t know where she’d be without her. Sharon started crying, and Rey was concerned. Sharon said what Faith wrote was what she needed to hear.

Faith got a text – a heart emoji from an unknown person.
