At Jabot, Jack hoped Kyle’s Valentine’s day sales forecast was accurate. Kyle felt pressured to come up with something spectacular for Summer for Valentine’s day. Jack warned Kyle that there was supposed to be a major storm on the 14th, so he and Summer should leave that day so they didn’t get stuck in the building again. Kyle wondered how Jack got through the last storm. Jack mentioned that he was snowbound at home with Sally. Kyle plead for Jack to say Sally left in the morning. He could see Sally taking advantage of Jack’s generous offer and moving in. Jack said relax – she was gone. He learned about Sally that night and found out she wasn’t all drive and ambition. Kyle was concerned that Jack was becoming Sally’s champion. Jack said he’d always looked out for the underdog. Kyle didn’t see Sally that way. Jack suggested that was because Kyle didn’t know her well. He said she’d made mistakes. He explained that she had fire because she’d been abandoned by her parents. Kyle grumbled that it gave Sally a victim card. Jack noted that he and Kyle had made mistakes, and they were given second chances. Kyle felt everyone deserved a second chance, but some people took advantage of them. Jack said he wasn’t that easily taken advantage of. He asked Kyle to stop thinking the worst of Sally.

Theo called Sally, who was in Crimson Lights. She didn’t want to talk to him after the way he betrayed her. She knew he was the one who told Summer she was after her job. He noted that it was the truth, and he said Summer just helped him make a big decision, so he felt like he owed her. He wanted to make it up to Sally. He had something huge on Kyle, and he wanted to discuss it in person. He was in Chicago, meeting a jewelry designer for his boutiques in Paris. She refused to come to Chicago, so he said he’d drive to Genoa City. He told her that he had something huge – “One final, fitting ‘screw you to Kyle Abbott from moi,” he said.

Lauren arrived for her meeting with Sally. Sally thought she must’ve done something wrong, but Lauren said this was good news. She thought Sally’s marketing pitch was top notch, and she wanted to fully utilize Sally’s talents. She offered Sally a promotion as junior director of internet marketing. Sally beamed. Lauren said she’d need a new assistant because Sally would have her hands full. Summer walked up and asked full with what. Sally filled Summer in, and she added that her job had nothing to do with JCV, which was all Summer’s. Summer brought up her trip to L.A. and pointedly mentioned that she learned so much and made valuable connections. Spencer Publications wanted to meet with her again about JCV, and this time they were coming to Genoa City. Lauren was surprised the Spencers were coming, and she said it’d be nice to see Bill again after all these years. Summer suggested that Sally would enjoy seeing the Spencers too. Sally smiled stiffly and agreed. Lauren said that with Sally’s new job, she probably wouldn’t even have time. “You gotta make time. It’s always great to see old friends. Right?,” Summer said.

Gloria met Michael on the coffeehouse patio. She thanked him for fitting her in, even though it wasn’t one of the higher-end establishments in town. He said he was meeting Lauren here, after she finished her business inside. Gloria sighed that her son was treating her like an afterthought. He asked why she had to make everything so personal – couldn’t she just accept he was busy with his job? She didn’t want to bicker when there were more important things to discuss. He asked what. She asked why he was so opposed to her being happy and fulfilled. He said he wanted her to be happy, so then maybe she’d stay out of trouble.

Gloria asked why Michael was standing in the way of her getting hired at Fenmore’s. He had nothing to do with hiring at Fenmore’s, and he said Lauren was welcome to hire Gloria. He couldn’t imagine why Lauren would want to do that though, since Gloria was a magnet for trouble. He brought up the Newman fiasco, and she reiterated that she was protecting Newman. He didn’t want to argue. She felt he was being grossly unfair to her. She said she and Lauren were simpatico. He didn’t think she understood the meaning of that word. She said all she wanted to do was support Lauren and help her work flourish. He laughed until he realized she was serious. He told her she wasn’t great at working with others. He reminded her of the time she worked on the sales floor at the boutique. She blamed Jill. He noted she set the place on fire, and she said she was a different person now. He brought up the time she went behind Lauren’s back and got Jack to help her make a move on Fenmore’s. She said she did that because she knew it would be good for everyone, and she was right – Lauren and Jack had been working beautifully for years. He felt this was moot, since he hadn’t stood in the way of a job offer, because no offer had been made. She said Lauren had offered her a job. Lauren came out, but Gloria didn’t see her. Gloria wanted Michael to remind Lauren off the offer, so Gloria could get back on her feet and out of his hair. Lauren asked what was going on.

Michael brought Lauren up to speed. Lauren said she and Gloria discussed an executive assistant position, but no offer was made. Gloria said it practically felt like an offer, now that she had Michael’s support. She said they just needed to work out a few details like dental insurance, vacation time and a parking spot. Lauren said she never mentioned those. Gloria said not to worry about it – she only needed to know when she started.

At Jabot, Sally told Jack about her promotion, and she thanked him. She knew it wasn’t a big step, but she also knew she could excel at it. He felt it was a very big step that happened in record time, but he didn’t know why she was thanking him. She didn’t think she would’ve gotten the promotion if he didn’t help with her shipping problem. He was sure she would’ve figured it out on her own. He just happened to be there. She said he was always there, and she wouldn’t be surprised if he had more to do with this than he was letting on. He promised he didn’t. He decided to take her out to celebrate.

Summer vented to Kyle at The Grand Phoenix. Sally had only been at the company ten minutes, and she’d already been promoted. He didn’t see why she cared. She said that if Lauren already promoted Sally, that meant Sally’s game was working. He suggested that Sally wasn’t playing a game. Summer thought it was quite the coincidence that Sally was promoted right after the trip to L.A. He said Sally was always overqualified to be an assistant. He stated that Summer was running JCV, and Sally was buying ad space on a website – Summer could just leave her be. She argued that they knew what Sally was capable of. He thought Phyllis was right – Sally would stay in line now that she knew Summer had the ability to blow her out of the water. Summer noted that Kyle was the one who’d said Sally was possibly more unpredictable now than ever. She wanted to know why he was suddenly on Sally’s side again.

Kyle said Summer knew he wasn’t on Sally’s side. She thought it sounded like he was. He said he’d been on Summer’s side every step of the way. He admitted he may have been overprotective before. He said that Summer held all the cards and if Sally pulled one wrong move, Summer could go to Lauren and tell her what Sally did in L.A. Summer almost did that when she found out Lauren promoted Sally. He said it sounded like Sally got this job because she earned it, and it was a low level position so it was no threat to Summer. He thought she should focus on JCV. Something about Sally set off Summer’s alarm bells. He thought their lives would be more fun if they stopped worrying about Sally. She said if she didn’t know better, she’d think Sally had gotten to him. This spurred him to tell her that Jack let Sally slept in the Abbott guest room.

Summer was sure that Sally laid it on thick about being a California girl who didn’t know anything about driving in the winter. Kyle admitted the roads were pretty treacherous. Summer was sure Sally played it to the hilt to get in good with Jack and make inroads with Kyle. He said Sally wouldn’t be able to make inroads with him. He noted that the roads were dangerous for everyone that night, which was why he and Summer had been stranded at Jabot. Summer was sure Sally made the most out of it though.

At Society, Sally told Jack that moving here was the smartest move she ever made. It was none of her business, but there was something she wanted to ask. He was intrigued. She asked how it was that he was single. He said his romantic history was filled with ups and downs. She thought he seemed so mellow. He said he knew that the love of his life could be around the corner. She told him that if he said that too loudly, every woman in Genoa City would line up around the corner. He appreciated the compliment. He said he had a great life. Her phone buzzed, and he told her to check it. It was Theo, but she lied and said it was her sister. She texted him back that she was busy. Theo was impatient to meet. Sally stared at her phone, and Jack asked if everything was okay.

Sally showed up at Crimson Lights, and she told Theo this better be good, since she had to ditch Jack to be here. She wanted to know what he had. He wanted more gratitude considering the way she treated him before he left for Paris. She said she was thankful, and his timing was perfect, since she just got a promotion. She wanted insurance to make sure Summer and Kyle didn’t derail her progress. She mentioned that Kyle and Summer knew what happened in L.A.

Theo told Sally that he and Kyle partied in the Hamptons, and Kyle took an interest in a married older woman. Sally was intrigued. The woman was married to Ashland Locke. Sally had read all about the ruthless mogul in the gossip columns when she lived in NY. He had a nasty reputation. She said Kyle must have a death wish to sleep with Ashland’s wife. Theo said Kyle was in love.

Sally wasn’t sure this was enough to throw Summer and Kyle off their game – this happened years ago, before they were a couple. Theo said yes, it was almost four years ago. Sally asked why anyone would care, then. She liked Theo, but she thought he was milking this for more than it was worth. Theo said that Ashland never found out about the affair, since Kyle covered his tracks. Sally realized that if Ashland found out, he’d destroy Kyle, but she wondered how they’d prove the affair happened. She was sure everyone would take Kyle’s word over Theo’s. Theo said he’d just stumbled across some DNA proof of the affair. “Ashland Jr. Actually, his name is Harrison. And he’s three years old,” Theo said with a smirk. Sally looked pleased.

Sharon was at Chelsea’s place, while Adam lingered in a doorway, listening in. He pulled Sharon aside and told her she was being too nice to Chelsea. He said Chelsea was a fighter, and he told Sharon to give her a reason to fight. Sharon knew they’d discussed using a more confrontational method to motivate Chelsea, but she wasn’t sure Chelsea was ready. Adam believed she was. Sharon thought Chelsea was too fragile, but Adam said Chelsea wasn’t afraid of conflict, so Sharon should give her some. Sharon went back and accused Chelsea of being afraid and stubborn and not acknowledging that her mind was keeping her trapped in the wheelchair. She noted that the doctors saw no reason why Chelsea wasn’t making progress. Sharon told Chelsea that she needed to face whatever emotional block she was suffering from. Chelsea said to herself that she wanted to get better, but sharing her feelings with Sharon wasn’t the solution. Sharon asked if Chelsea was angry at her or Adam. Chelsea said to herself that Sharon was a problem. Sharon ordered Chelsea to say how much she hated her. Chelsea wished she could tell Sharon just how she felt. Sharon said she’d be back in Chelsea’s home, and Chelsea could get rid of her by getting better. Adam walked Sharon out and closed the door. Chelsea imagined they were sharing a passionate kiss in the hallway. She urged herself to do something, and she was able to move her right fingers.

In the hallway, Adam was disappointed that Chelsea didn’t make progress. He didn’t mean to sound ungrateful to Sharon. He knew it was hard for her to go after Chelsea like that, since it wasn’t in her nature to be vicious. She said sometimes therapy was tough on the practitioner. He really thought it was going to work. He’d do anything to help Chelsea, but he didn’t know what the next step was. Sharon said that this was just the first attempt, and it could take awhile before it was effective. He noted that she’d just said it made her uncomfortable. She assured him she’d do anything to help Chelsea, just like he would. She told him not to give up hope. It was hard – it’d been weeks, and he said Chelsea was in anguish because of him. She told him it wasn’t his fault.

Adam revealed that the stroke was a byproduct of an aneurysm that could’ve been caused by a fall in an elevator. He said he was the one who cut the power to the building. He didn’t know Chelsea was inside. He was trying to keep Billy occupied in his office while he broke into Billy’s hotel room. Sharon said she wouldn’t justify any of that, but she still didn’t think Adam should blame himself. He suggested it was the ultimate penance for all the horrible things he’d done. She said he dind’t mean to hurt anyone – it was an accident, and she didn’t think anyone’s suffering was his penance. She said Chelsea needed him to be in the right frame of mind in order to recover. She was sure Chelsea would overcome this. He thanked her. She left, and he went back inside. Adam tried to figure out if Chelsea needed anything – was she tired, hungry or cold? He asked if she hated him. She wondered if he wanted her to hate him, because that would make it easier for him to fall into Sharon’s arms. She considered the possibility that he belonged with Sharon. She wondered if she should give up, and she told herself that she couldn’t, because if she did, she’d lose her son.

Adam looked at a picture of Chelsea and Connor. He called Sharon and told her he had an idea. He went to Sharon’s house. He was thinking of bringing Connor home from school to motivate Chelsea to recover. He said Chelsea loved Connor so much. Sharon thought it’d be traumatic for Connor to see Chelsea incapacitated. She was sure he remembered what Connor was like after the hostage situation at the hotel. She said this could be worse – it could bring back all Connor’s fears about Chelsea. She also thought Chelsea might go into a downward spiral if she saw Connor that traumatized. Adam said sooner or later, he had to tell Connor the truth. Sharon said this would take time. Noting that Chelsea had been like this for weeks, Adam said he was worried that if she didn’t improve soon, she never would. Sharon thought they should give it more time then reevaluate. She felt it was risky to bring Connor home. He thanked her for the advice and for calming him down. He didn’t know what he’d do without her. He reached out his hand, and she took it. Rey walked in and saw them holding hands.

Back at the penthouse, Chelsea wiggled the fingers on her right hand, but she stopped when the nurse came in.
