Victor sat behind the desk at Newman, and he told Victoria and Nick that he wanted to have a family dinner. They both had prior engagements, but he insisted, because the family was more splintered than ever, in his opinion. He was aware that the situation with Adam caused a lot of trouble, and his heart went out to Adam. However, he didn’t expect Victoria and Nick to be sympathetic to Adam. He did want Victoria and Nick to put their differences aside. He said that the dinner was not a request and that their mother would call them with the date later. He left.

Nick knew they’d never convince Victor to cancel the dinner, so he thought they should just tell Nikki that they couldn’t make it. Victoria said that wouldn’t work, because Victor wouldn’t let it go. He asked what the alternative was – show up and pretend things were okay? She wished it wasn’t necessary to pretend – she didn’t like him being mad at her. He said she attacked the woman he loved. He wanted an apology. She admitted she was wrong to buy a controlling interest in the hotel, and she wished she could take it back. She asked if he was satisfied and he said no. he told her to talk to Phyllis and make it right.

At the Chancellor house, Abby offered to get Mariah coffee, tea or breakfast. Mariah said she didn’t need to be doted on. Abby was just so excited the three of them were going to make a baby. Abby didn’t want to come on strong, but there was a lot to do. Mariah guessed that Abby made a surrogacy checklist, and she revealed she’d made one too. Chance said Abby spent most of the night working on hers. Mariah called Tessa, who planned to go to an herbalist to get some pregnancy healthy teas. Abby said there would be a legal agreement so Mariah would feel comfortable at all times. Chance left for his appointment to check his fertility.

Abby made an appointment for Mariah’s initial exam. Mariah assumed it’d take some time to get into the office, but it was this afternoon. Mariah supposed it paid to be a Newman-Chancellor. Later, Mariah returned after her appointment and informed Abby that it went well. The doctors saw no reason she couldn’t carry to term. Abby said she’d always appreciate Mariah’s gift of love. Chance came home after Mariah left. Abby wanted to celebrate Mariah’s good news, but Chance looked dejected.

Chance got disappointing results at the doctor. The doctor thought it could be the result of the medication he took at the hospital, or the sepsis or the fever. Abby wanted the details – she could handle it. Chance had low sperm count, low motility and damage. Chance said he couldn’t give Abby a child right now. He was so sorry. He felt like he failed her. She said it wasn’t his fault. She said they just got over a crushing disappointment and now this. She was sorry, because she knew what had been taken from him. He told her there was a chance he could spontaneously recover, and they could proceed with their plans to have a baby. She asked what if he didn’t recover. He knew parenthood wasn’t about DNA. It was about being present every day. He knew this wasn’t what they planned. He hated himself for not being able to give her what she deserved. She asked if he didn’t want to have a baby anymore. He said he’d spend an hour or two feeling sorry for himself, then he’d find her and tell her a joke, then they’d look into finding a donor, or adoption. He promised they’d have a loud noisy messy family with kids who knew he loved them, no matter how they got here. He loved her, and she was more than he could’ve dreamed of. She hoped he didn’t say this out of obligation. He said he wasn’t. He wanted to be a dad. She wished she didn’t pressure him. He asked if she was saying this because she wanted to wait. She said no, she wanted a baby yesterday. He poured himself a drink, and she offered to stay, but he wanted to be alone. She decided to go to Society. They said they loved each other, and she left. He got a call. “This is Detective Chancellor. I was wondering when you would finally catch up with me,” he said.

Devon and Elena woke up on his couch after spending the night together. He ran his hand along her hip, and she looked at him with sadness in her eyes. As she dressed, he suggested they talk about what happened and where they went from here. She said she couldn’t. He asked how she felt. She felt like she should leave, and she did. He sighed.

At Crimson Lights, Nate told Elena he got a bit worried when she didn’t answer his calls last night. She said she fell asleep after she got stuck in the storm, and her phone died. He hoped she wasn’t stuck somewhere she dind’t want to be. She said it was fine, and she had to cut this short because she needed to go shower. She rushed off. Elena went to Society’s kitchen and asked for a non-judgmental talk with Lola. Lola agreed. Elena said she got snowed in at Devon’s, and they spend the night together.

Elena said that being at Devon’s brought up all these feelings and they had a heart to heart. She said they both realized how much they loved each other and how much they lost. In the morning, she was so overwhelmed, she had to get out of there, then when she saw Nate, she rushed off again. Lola thought Elena should stop focusing on Devon and Nate and think about what she really wanted. Elena realized what she needed to do.

Devon went to Crimson Lights for coffee, and he saw Nate out on the patio. Nate called him out for a talk. Nate couldn’t believe what he found out this morning. He’d gotten an email with Moses’s flight information – he was coming in a few weeks, sooner than expected. Devon was excited to have his little brother in town. Nate looked forward to getting to know his cousin better, and he hoped they’d have Winters family get togethers. Devon thought Lily would enjoy that.

Elena went back to Devon’s and told him he was right – they should talk. She said when they first got together, he said she brought him out of the darkness, and he’d done the same for her. She said she was a doctor because he helped her remember the dream. She’d always be grateful for the time they had together. She’d once loved him so much, but they couldn’t go backwards. She didn’t know what the future held for her and Nate, but she owed it to herself to figure it out. He understood. He’d once loved her too. He thought last night was about trying to recapture that connection, but their hearts were in two different places now. She asked how they should handle this.

Devon wouldn’t say anything to Nate. A month ago, he probably would’ve, but he wasn’t in that place anymore, and he didn’t think Elena’s life deserved to be blown up over this. She said she already came between him and Nate once, and she didn’t want to do it again. She also didn’t want to harm his relationship with Amanda. He said it wasn’t a relationship – they hadn’t gone on a date or anything. She could tell he cared about Amanda.

At the cottage, Sharon looked lost in thought. Rey knew she was still thinking about what happened last night between Faith and Jordan. Sharon wasn’t happy that Faith sneaked Jordan in. Sharon only found out through ranch security. Rey said it was better that the girls were here instead of somewhere else. Sharon said that the girls didn’t have an attitude, and they were happy to go off to school this morning. He thought Faith appreciated the way Sharon handled the situation. Sharon explained that she didn’t lecture Faith because she wanted to keep a closer eye on Faith when she was with Jordan, and she thought Faith might be more open if things were kept friendly. She appreciated him hearing her out and being supportive. She hoped he’d also be understanding about another decision she’d made – she was going to treat Chelsea. He wished she’d chosen differently, but he knew she wanted to help Chelsea. He also thought she was asking for trouble putting herself in proximity to Adam again.

Rey was looking for his keys in the couch, and he found a cap for a liquor bottle.

At their place, Adam told Chelsea that Sharon was going to treat her. He hoped it’d be a big step forward. Chelsea blinked in agreement. Chelsea bitterly thought that fury was the best motivator and Adam would get to be close to Sharon, so everyone won. Sharon arrived, and Adam thanked her for coming. Chelsea internally grumbled about Sharon running right over. She wondered if Rey even knew about this. Sharon asked if Chelsea was still on board, and Chelsea blinked yes. Chelsea said to herself that she wanted Sharon where she could keep an eye on her. Sharon thought they should ease into it – she’d stop by every few days to chat. She couldn’t promise anything, but maybe something good would come of it. Chelsea said to herself that Sharon wanted Adam.

Later, Adam came in and told Sharon that Chelsea had PT in a few minutes. Sharon said she was excited to work with Chelsea. Chelsea imagined that Sharon and Adam kissed goodbye. The PT session didn’t go as well as they hoped, and Adam was sorry for that, but now they had Sharon to counsel Chelsea. He knew this must be frustrating and infuriating. He suggested she channel her rage. She imagined it was maddening for him not to be sure what she was thinking or feeling. He went upstairs. She tapped her right fingers against her thigh.

Sharon went home, and since Rey was still there, she wondered if he wanted to talk more about her counseling Chelsea. He didn’t. He figured that if there was something she thought he should know, she’d tell him. He showed her the cap, and she realize Faith and Jordan were drinking last night during the time they were all alone. Nikki had left because she thought Sharon was on her way, but Sharon was stuck at Crimson Lights. She asked where the bottle was. He didn’t know. She assumed Jordan took it home. He suggested that the bottle cap had been in cushions for some time. She said she’d never bought this brand of vodka. She decided to call Nick.

Nick arrived, and he said he agreed with Rey – finding the bottle cap wasn’t ideal, but it didn’t prove Faith was drinking. He hated to think she’d drink at home and be brazen enough to lie to their faces about it. He asked how Faith seemed last night. Rey said the girls were asleep when they got home. Sharon said that it was possible that’s what the girls wanted them to believe. Sharon didn’t like thinking this about Faith, but they couldn’t turn a blind eye to this. The best case scenario was that Jordan brought the alcohol, and Faith didn’t have any, but the worst case scenario was Faith had been drinking this whole time without her parents realizing it. She thought Faith needed therapy right now, and she was worried about Faith hanging out with Jordan. Nick said to hold off. Sharon had already contacted a therapist, whom she’d graduated with and who was fantastic with kids. The therapist had said she could meet with them right way, so Sharon was calling right now.

Sharon thanked Lanie for coming over on short notice and told her what was going on. Nick said he wanted to hear what Faith had to say first. Sharon said regardless of what Faith said, she was going down a bad path. Nick asked if Lanie thought it was premature to put Faith in therapy. Lanie thought that with the anxiety, possible bullying and shifts in behavior, professional counseling was warranted. She said sh was willing to start counseling Faith as soon as Faith was ready. Nick said they needed to talk in private, but they’d be in touch soon. Lanie left. Sharon demanded to know what the hell that was about. She noted that he knew how high the stakes were for Faith. He said they were on the same side, but he thought they should be more cautious. He didn’t think Faith was ready. She asked what Rey thought. He thought this was Nick and Sharon’s decision. Sharon had tears in her eyes. She said they had to do this now, for Faith’s sake. He said they couldn’t risk Faith locking them out – there was more than one way to lose a child.

Phyllis was at the Grand Phoenix. Someone called about holding a convention there, but they changed their mind when they found out Victoria wasn’t affiliated with the hotel. Victoria showed up and apologized. Phyllis was skeptical. Victoria understood, but she was sincere. She said her pursuit of the hotel wasn’t business, it was personal. She got carried away, and she liked seeing Phyllis squirm. That was beneath her, and she apologized. Phyllis figured that Victoria was only saying this to get on Nick’s good side. Victoria hoped they could close this chapter, and she said to tell Nick she was here. Phyllis said she didn’t think it was possible for Victoria to apologize for her behavior. “Well, you would know,” Victoria replied.
