Chance and Abby prepared to ask an unnamed person to be their surrogate. Abby was nervous. She wanted to pull out Katherine’s good silver for the occasion. He didn’t think they had to aim to impress – he felt they should be themselves. He said after they asked, it’d be this woman’s decision. Abby understood she should be prepared for a no, but she hoped for the best. The doorbell rang, and Abby and Chance went to the door and met Mariah. Mariah was relieved to see that Abby looked great, since she’d been worried about her friend. Chance thanked Mariah for cheering Abby up with the dance night. Mariah was happy for the couple when they told her they were going to pursue surrogacy. When they told her they were looking for a surrogate, Mariah said she wanted to help them find the right person. Mariah wondered how you found someone willing to take on the huge responsibility of carrying your child. Chance said he had to call the office, and he stepped out.

Mariah hoped her questions weren’t intrusive. Abby said they weren’t. She noted that there was a lot that went into surrogacy, like testing and treatments, a lot of hoping and praying and there were no guarantees, but if it worked, she’d have a baby, and the woman who carried their child would give them the greatest gift. Mariah said that was a pretty miraculous gift from someone you never met. Abby said they hoped the surrogate could be someone they knew and cared about – someone who’d stepped up for them before. Mariah realized they wanted her, and she seemed to be in shock. Abby called Chance in. Chance said that they understood if Mariah didn’t think this was right for her. Abby stated that Mariah was the first person they thought of. Abby said she knew their baby would have a fierce protector until they were born and Chance and Abby could take over. Chance said it was important that they trust their surrogate. Abby knew it was a lot to take in, but in her heart, she believed Mariah was the perfect person. Mariah’s head was spinning. She needed time to think, and she needed Tessa. She decided to go. Abby said Mariah didn’t have to run off, but Mariah walked out in a daze.

Chance wondered if there was a way to have handled things better. Abby was silent, and he asked if she was okay. She wasn’t upset, or even surprised. She’d hoped Mariah would jump on board right away, but she realized that wasn’t realistic. She knew it was a lot to ask, and she wouldn’t hold it against Mariah if she declined. She knew there would be ups and downs, and she was ready. She knew they’d have their baby one way or another.

At Crimson Lights, Mariah asked if Tessa could picture her pregnant. Tessa laughed, assuming this was a joke. Mariah said it wasn’t a prank. She filled Tessa in. Tessa asked what Mariah said to Chance and Abby. Mariah honestly had no idea. She knew she didn’t agree to it, but she only recalled making a beeline toward the door. Mariah thought about carrying a baby – not her baby, but her body. She didn’t even know if she could get pregnant. What if it failed and she was the one who broke Abby’s heart? What if it worked and there were nine months when she couldn’t eat sushi, go on a roller coaster or drink a cosmo? This was crazy, she said. Tessa thought it was a lot to ask, but she thought Mariah had to ask herself if this was something she wanted to do. Mariah couldn’t answer that question. The thought of carrying someone else’s baby was too much to think about. Tessa said the good news was Mariah didn't have to decide now. Mariah asked if Tessa was being this calm and rational because she wanted her to say yes. Tessa said no, she was being calm as a counterpoint to Mariah. Tessa said she could tell Mariah was taking this seriously since she hadn’t said no.

Nick went to the hotel and told Phyllis they’d just added two New Hope locations in the state. He had a meeting later, but since they both had some free time, and he wanted to go play video games. Before they could go upstairs, she got a text from Summer, who wanted to meet.

Summer and Kyle were at Crimson Lights after their trip to L.A. Summer was surprised Sally didn’t dye her hair, change her name and try to erase her past before she moved. Summer couldn’t believe Sally faked a disease and kidnapped a woman. Kyle said not to get too wound up about this. He reminded Summer that her goal was to gather information to find out what she was up against, not wreck Sally’s life.

Summer went to The Grand Phoenix to meet with Phyllis, and she was surprised Nick was also there. He kind of apprehensively said that Phyllis told him Summer wanted to talk. Summer said she wasn’t there to announce she was married, engaged or pregnant, and she told them to calm down. He said they weren’t worried about that, but it was nice to hear. She told her parents that she found a new location in L.A. for a JCV boutique. They were proud. He asked if that was why she wanted to meet, and she said yeah, pretty much. Phyllis sensed there was more, so she reminded Nick he had a meeting. He said it wasn’t for awhile. Summer said she didn’t want Nick to be late on her account. Nick took the hint and left so they could talk in private.

Summer told Phyllis that her instincts on Sally were right – she was trouble. Phyllis asked how much trouble. Summer said if she went missing, Phyllis should assume Sally kidnapped her, since she’d done it before. Summer said the worst part was Jack was on Sally’s side. He didn’t know about any of the stuff she pulled in L.A. Phyllis was very impressed with Summer’s reconnaissance skills, but she didn’t like her working with a loose cannon like Sally. Summer said she could handle Sally. Summer had just been looking for something embarrassing to neutralize Sally – she wasn’t looking for a fake terminal illness and an abduction.

Summer asked how Phyllis would use this information if she were her. Phyllis said she recently got something big on an adversary. Her first instinct was to take this information and burn it all to the ground, but in the end, she relaxed and kept it close to the vest. Summer said she could tell Sally was going to do something, and she couldn’t just wait around for it. Phyllis wasn’t saying to wait around for it. She was telling Summer to be smart and keep this information to herself for now. Phyllis learned from experience that acting rashly could backfire. Summer noted that Phyllis was taking the high road these days. Phyllis said she wasn’t taking the high road, but the wise one. Summer asked what Phyllis would’ve done at her age. Phyllis said if she were Summer’s age she wouldn’t be Summer, she’d be Sally. She told Summer to consider that when she was making her next move.

Sally was in the Jabot boardroom staring at the photo of Summer and Flo. Jack came in and questioned the look on her face. She said she was trying to come up with ways to implement her pitch. He mentioned he’d planned to get coffee, and he said he’d bring her one. She didn’t think the CEO should make coffee, but he said he was going to anyway. He wanted to make her day a little easier.

Kyle ran into Sally in the boardroom. She asked how his trip to L.A. went, and he said it was great. He had some productive meetings, and Summer made progress with JCV. She asked if he saw any celebrities. He didn’t have time for details. He had to get to work. She said maybe she could grab drinks with him and Summer. He said maybe, and he started to leave. She told him to wait, and she asked who they saw. He noted that she already knew. She admitted she saw the picture of Summer and Flo, and she was aware of the meeting with Spencer Publications. He said the meetings were about real business, not about her. She couldn’t imagine what they’d said about her. He was sure she could. She asked him to remember there were two sides to every story. He didn’t care what happened in L.A. She said she made mistakes and was reckless, but her actions were motivated by love and passion. She thought he could understand that, since she heard about the twists and turns his relationship with Summer had taken. He wasn’t comfortable discussing his personal life with her. Sally said she just wanted to be Lauren’s right hand, and she asked that they not bury her with her past mistakes. He reiterated that he wasn’t interested in what she did in L.A. She asked if Summer felt the same way. He didn’t speak for Summer.

Sally rushed into Society and told Jack she needed to talk to him. She said she really needed his help. She missed a Fenmore’s deadline for a shipment and now everything was going to be late. He said they could ship it out with the Jabot shipment. She appreciated it. Phyllis walked in and ducked out of the way before they saw her. He assumed she missed this deadline because of whatever had been bothering her earlier. He didn’t believe that she’d been stressed because she was trying to figure out how to implement her ideas. She didn’t want to talk about it.

Phyllis walked up to Jack and Sally. Jack introduced them. Phyllis said Summer told her that Lauren got an assistant. Sally asked how Phyllis knew Summer. Phyllis said that was her daughter. Sally said that Summer was the greatest. She stepped away to take a call. Phyllis asked Jack what he was doing. He could only imagine what Summer told Phyllis about Sally, but he said it was water under the bridge because both women were valued assets for Lauren. She asked if he knew everything about Sally. He said she was a friend. She chuckled and wished him luck, then she walked away. Sally returned and reported that the shipping crisis was averted.

Summer met Kyle at Jabot, and he asked if she talked to her mom. She said Phyllis gave her some real “do as I say, not as I do,” advice. She thought Phyllis had forgotten what it was like to have someone try and steal your job and your man. He said to give him some credit – she was in no danger of losing him. He said he just talked to Sally, and she was scared. He thought Sally knew she needed to be on her best behavior. Summer was concerned that Sally would feel like she had nothing to lose and lash out.

Jack and Sally went back to Jabot later. Sally looked scared when she overheard Summer tell Jack that her trip to L.A. was enlightening.

Billy went to Victoria’s house to get the kids because it was a snow day. He yelled for them and was startled when Victoria walked into the living room and asked what the shouting was about. She said they grounded the flight due to weather. She wasn’t going to Hawaii anymore, and she said they’d close the deal remotely. He asked what about vacationing with her mother. She said they’d go somewhere later. He decided to go back to the office, but she said the kids likely already heard his voice, and they’d be disappointed if he left. He had a lot of work to do. She said she did too, but she was going to work from home. She was sure he could work here from his laptop, and since Lily was out of town, there was no reason to go to the office.

Billy and Victoria worked from the living room. They heard Katie yell at Johnny that she wanted a turn. Billy said a sibling rivalry was brewing. Victoria hoped the kids would work it out, but then Johnny ran in and said he was building a fort for his polar bear. Billy asked if Johnny could keep it quiet for now. He promised his son that he’d come play with him later. Katie ran in, and Johnny told her they had to be quiet. She wondered if being kind of quiet was okay, or if they had to be really quiet. Victoria said kind of quiet would be nice. Katie sighed in annoyance and ran off. “You know where she gets that from,” Billy told Victoria. Victoria said she was working, and she’d learned to tune the kids out. He suggested she go to the office, and he’d stay with the kids. She said she didn’t have much to do, since she was supposed to be in Hawaii. There was a crash, and he went to check on the kids. Nick called, and he could hear Billy and the kids playing.

Nick heard the trip got canceled, so he’d called to invite Victoria and the kids to go sledding with him and Christian. She declined since the kids were spending time with Billy. Nick commented that Victoria was hanging with Billy, and she said to stop, because it wasn’t like that. The call ended. She smiled when she saw Billy and the children.

Johnny asked if they could bake cookies. Billy said they couldn’t let Victoria help, because her history of baking cookies was a little suspect. When she protested, he asked Johnny if he remembered the time Victoria burned the cookies. “Which time?,” Johnny asked. Victoria said she’d go take a bubble bath while they baked. Johnny said it was fun having everyone together. Later, Victoria returned and saw everyone lounging and eating cookies. Lily called, so Billy stepped away t talk to her. Victoria watched Billy as he told Lily he missed her.
