Adam let Dr. Cavett into the penthouse and enthusiastically said he and Chelsea were looking for some progress today. Dr. Cavett asked Adam to leave while she worked with Chelsea, because she wanted to see how Chelsea responded without being observed. The doctor said Chelsea felt tremendous pressure to perform, and she needed a chance to do the work without being observed by someone she wanted to please.

Adam went to Crimson Lights. He stood in the doorway staring at Sharon until she looked up and noticed him. He came inside and said he didn’t realize she was back from her honeymoon. He asked about her honeymoon, then she asked about Chelsea. He relayed what Dr. Cavett said. He wanted to hang out at the coffeehouse until the appointment was over, if that was okay with Sharon. She said of course. He mentioned that Victor hired the doctor for Chelsea. Sharon was happy Victor helped and that Adam accepted that help. He said he’d do anything to help Chelsea get better. She hadn’t regained movement or the ability to speak, but the doctors assured him her mind was fine. Sharon told him to be patient. He vowed to stay by Chelsea’s side. She asked how he was. He was okay. He apologized for staring when he first came in. Seeing her looking so happy and full of life after everything she’d been through made him think of how much Chelsea lost. She said Chelsea had a lot of people rooting for her. He said Chelsea felt it, too. He felt a little guilty, and Sharon asked why, since it wasn’t his fault. Adam said he just wondered if he could’ve prevented this. She asked if Connor knew. He said he’d been lying to Connor, because he didn’t want to say Chelsea was in a wheelchair and couldn’t talk or move. He was sorry. He didn’t meant to come and complain. She thought it was good that he was getting this off his chest. “This is your fault, by the way. You’re too good of a listener,” he said to her. Rey walked in and greeted Adam. Adam welcomed him back and congratulated him. Rey asked how Chelsea was. Adam said he thought she’d recover soon. Rey said to let them know if he needed anything. Adam said thanks and started to leave, but then Chance came in.

Chance said he and Abby had been meaning to call about Chelsea. “Have you, really?” Adam asked. Chance asked if he said something to offend Adam. Adam said Chance and Rey had been very polite, and they could stop pretending they didn’t hate him just because of what happened to Chelsea. It was almost worse seeing them try to be civil. Sharon started saying that she didn’t think that was what Rey and Chance were doing, but she trailed off because Adam left. Rey said Chelsea was the only one he cared about. Sharon said no matter what they thought of Adam, it was hard to see someone in so much pain. Chance thought Sharon had a big heart. Rey loved her for it.

After Sharon left the area, Chance told Rey about the fertility struggles. Rey was sorry. Chance was sure things were fine – it was just bad luck. Rey was sure Chance would be an excellent dad. Chance looked forward to it, and he knew Abby was destined to be a mother. He said she wanted it so badly. Having kids wasn’t in Rey’s plans anymore, especially since he was Faith’s stepdad, which he loved, but he knew what it was like getting your hopes up.

At The Grand Phoenix, Amanda read the restraining order to Devon. It ordered her to stay away from Naya and her family. He asked who was behind it. “Imani. The daughter that our mother chooses to acknowledge,” she replied. He thought she should fight it since she wasn’t threatening anyone. She said the family knew that, but this was their way to prove how well connected they were. She thought if she fought, they’d just up the ante. He said Amanda was entitled to know where she came from. Amanda said Naya had kicked her out of the family a second time. She sighed that she should’ve gotten the message the first time. Devon wanted to buy Amanda a drink, but then Billy texted with a work issue. She decided to go, because she needed the distraction.

After Amanda left, Nate and Elena arrived. Devon asked Elena for some time alone with Nate, but Nate said that anything Devon had to say to him could be said in front of Elena. Devon said Moses’ mother Sofia reached out and said he was thinking of spending some time in Genoa City, and maybe even finishing high school here. Nate asked why, and Devon said partly because of Nate. “My little brother is thinking of going pre-med when he gets to college,” Devon said. Moses wanted to go to Walnut Grove because its graduates often got into top colleges. Devon had agreed to open his home to his brother, but Moses would need some advice, and Sofia wondered if Nate would be willing to be his mentor.

Nate asked if Sofia specifically mentioned him. According to Devon, Sofia thought it had a lot to do with Moses missing Neil and wanting to be with his father’s side of the family. Moses was sixteen and his goals were real. Devon thought it’d be good for all of them if this happened – Moses was his brother and Nate’s cousin. He hoped he and Nate could put their issues aside and be there for Moses. Nate said it sounded like a lot for him to take on. He was still trying to figure out where his career was going, now that he’d accepted surgery wouldn’t be part of it anymore. He wasn’t trying to rub it in Devon’s face – it was just a fact. He wasn’t sure this was the right time. Devon said okay, and he left.

At Society, Elena asked if Nate turned down the request to mentor Moses because he didn’t want to or because Devon was the one who passed on the message. Nate was conflicted about the request, but not because Devon asked him to. Nate said Moses was a good kid, and he believed in paying it forward, but he didn’t think he’d be a good role model for his cousin. He was still bitter about his injury, and that could come out in front of Moses in the worst way possible. Elena said he was wrong. She understood his reservations, but she thought he was disregarding how fulfilling this would be. She didn’t think he was the type of person who’d even show Moses an ounce of frustration. He thought she was making him out to be better than he was. She said he turned his career around and didn’t let his disappointment over not being able to do surgery anymore stop him. He said it wasn’t like he had a choice. She remembered him telling her how he couldn’t wait to follow his mother into medicine and how his stepfather, Malcolm was his role model. She said this was his chance to do that for someone else. She guaranteed he wouldn’t regret helping his cousin.

Amanda got to work and congratulated Lily and Billy on acquiring AskMDNow. He said he’d go draw up the contracts, and he told Lily that they’d pick up where they left off. After he was gone, Amanda asked if Lily cared to share. She did not. Amanda laughed and said that wasn’t nice. Lily was sure Amanda already figured it out. Plus she wanted to know if Amanda talked to her birth mother. Amanda told Lily about the restraining order. She said Imani saw her as a threat. Amanda told Lily about her meeting with Naya. Lily was sorry. She knew Amanda must be hurt and angry. Amanda said she wasn’t angry – she was righteously pissed off. “How dare that little brat who was born on the third base demand that I step aside so she can just continue her fairy tale life,” Amanda complained. Lily said Amanda didn’t know what Imani had been through, and she noted that people made poor choices when they were upset.

Amanda knew she needed to let go of her anger – she told her clients that all the time. But she wasn’t used to backing down from a fight, especially when someone else threw the first punch. Lily knew, but she thought Amanda should take some time to calm down and think. Amanda thanked Lily for talking her down. Amanda was used to being in charge and in control, and she sometimes forgot that there were things in life you couldn’t control. She appreciated friends like Lily. Lily brought up Devon. Amanda said she didn’t know where she’d be without Devon. Lily thought it sounded like Amanda and Devon’s friendship was escalating. Amanda said he made her an omelet this morning. “Wait a second you had breakfast together? As in…” Lily asked. “Well, he’s your brother, why don’t you ask him,” Amanda said, with a smile. She left.

Amanda showed up at Devon’s to read him the text Naya sent her. Naya apologized for Imani taking things to such extremes. Devon was surprised that was all Naya said. Amanda said there was no offer to talk or work things out, just an I’m sorry. Devon asked if Amanda could fight the restraining order in court. Amanda said even if she had it removed, her birth mother clearly wasn’t interested in a relationship. She thought Naya was probably pleased Imani figured out a way to keep Amanda from disrupting Naya’s life. She said Naya was very used to letting other relatives make tough decisions for her. He said Naya should be proud to have a child as smart, strong and accomplished as Amanda. Amanda said that was probably part of the reason Naya was okay with what Imani did. Amanda was a success, so Naya didn’t have to feel guilty about her choices, or feel compassionate because Amanda turned out okay. Devon said maybe Naya wasn’t that calculating – she’d sent the text, so it wasn’t like she just cut contact. Amanda demanded to know why Devon kept defending Naya. It was because he struggled to understand how someone could be so concerned about their reputation that they passed up the chance to get to know their child. Amanda said she and Hilary drew the short straw on families – a self-centered power players. She said to forget about Naya’s apology, because she already had.

Chance came home with a bunch of ice cream to cheer Abby up. She seemed to be in high spirits again. She had an appointment with her doctor today, and she was optimistic that she’d be able to find out why she wasn’t getting pregnant and easily fix it. He had an appointment in a couple days too. When he wasn’t looking, she seemed worried.

Nikki visited Victoria’s office and was concerned to see her daughter so stressed. She said there was nothing wrong with Victoria taking a break. Victoria had planned to take the kids to an ice skating fundraiser tonight, but she had meetings, and she couldn’t do it. Nikki offered to take them, but Victoria said Billy would do it. Nikki said it was late notice, so maybe Billy had other plans. Victoria thought Nikki was saying that because Billy was seeing Lily. Victoria said that Billy was the kind of person who’d cancel his plans to spend time with his kids.

Nikki asked how Victoria felt about Billy dating Lily. Victoria said she didn’t think about it. She was happy for Billy. She’d moved on. Nikki said Billy had a successful business, a new woman and the kids lived with Victoria, which was a sweet setup for Billy. Victoria said if Nikki wanted to trash talk Billy, she should go talk to Victor. Nikki wasn’t trying to put Billy down, but to lift Victoria up. She said Victoria worked long hours and she had no social life. She went home exhausted just in time to help the nanny put the kids to bed, then she woke up and did it all over again. She asked where the fun was for Victoria. Victoria said if she wanted something, she went out and got it without people telling her what she needed. Nikki said this was just her opinion, and Victoria could choose what to do with it.

Victoria ran into Billy at Society. He was carrying takeout, because he and Lily were going to celebrate closing their deal. Victoria heard about his trip to Seattle, and she assumed it made up for the canceled trip to New Orleans. He said it didn’t, since Seattle was a business trip, and New Orleans was something different. She commented that Billy and Lily were getting serious. He thought she was overstating it a bit, but if they were, was something wrong with that? She said no – she was happy for them. He sensed that wasn’t true.

Victoria noted that Billy thought she wanted his relationship to fail. He said she wouldn’t be the first ex to feel that way. She didn’t feel that way at all. Victoria thought Lily was awesome, and she didn’t want to see her get hurt. He said that would only happen if he screwed up, the way he screwed up with Victoria. She noted that those were his words, not hers. He thanked her for the advice. She said she couldn’t take the kids to the ice skating fundraiser, due to a meeting. She asked if he would do it, and he said he and Lily had plans. Victoria said she wouldn’t have asked if the kids didn’t really want to go. She was sure Lily would understand. She noted he missed a night with Johnny and Katie when he was in Seattle. He said he’d do it, and she called him a life-saver. He left.

Abby was at Society too. She called Ashley, who didn’t answer, due to the time difference in Paris. Abby left a message asking Ashley to call back when she got the voicemail. Victoria asked what was wrong. Abby said she and Chance were having trouble conceiving, and they were both going to the doctor. Victoria said she had several miscarriages, and the doctors told her she’d never get pregnant again. She was so desperate that Billy tried to fix things, with devastating results. Abby remembered. Victoria said she struggled for like three years, then Katie came along. A perfect baby. She knew it didn’t happen like that for everyone, but she thought it was too soon for Abby to give up hope. Victoria said to have confidence and remember her miracle baby, Katie.

Chance came home and Abby was crying. The doctor found scar tissue from Abby’s miscarriage on examination. The doctor wanted to do surgery so she could get a better look and see if that was the reason Abby couldn’t get pregnant. Chance said there was no reason to jump to the worst case scenario. He believed with all his heart that they would have the family they wanted.

Billy went back to work, he told Lily he’d brought sweets for his sweet. She asked where his treat was, and he said seeing her happy made him happy. She asked if they could meet tonight to brainstorm about AskMDNow, and he said he couldn’t because he was taking the kids ice skating. She said some supportive words, but when he wasn’t looking she looked disappointed.

Billy went to Crimson Lights to get the kids from Victoria. She told him that her meeting was canceled. He asked if she was taking the kids skating instead. She said that when she told the kids that Billy was taking them and that her meeting was canceled, they’d asked if all four of them could go together. “You’re okay with that, aren’t you?” she asked. He said it didn’t matter what he thought, since everything was arranged. She swore she wasn’t lying – her schedule really did change. He wasn’t accusing her of lying – he was just a little surprised. She noted that he used to like surprises. She offered to fix things with the kids if he wanted to skip the event, but he said he’d already talked to Lily, and she was fine with everything. “We’re here so lets enjoy ourselves,” he stated. Lily was shown back in the office ordering dinner for one.

Back at Crimson Lights, Sharon picked up her phone and took it into the stockroom. She pulled up Adam’s contact.

Adam came home and overheard Dr. Cavett tell Chelsea not to be disappointed just because things didn’t go well today, because these things took time. Adam told Chelsea that she would make a full recovery. He could feel it. He walked the doctor out, and in the hall, he asked what Chelsea’s chances were. She told him that staying upbeat, like he just was with Chelsea, would help. Sharon sent a text asking Adam to let her know if he needed anything.
