Elena and Nate enjoyed their time together in their hotel room. She was in bed, and he was in a towel after a shower. She thought they made the right decision waiting until now. Lily had called Nate while he was in the shower. Elena told him to go see his cousin, since they had the room all night. They could pick up where they left off.
At ChanceComm, Billy told Lily that they had to rush to Seattle right now to close a business deal on a healthcare resource website. She said shed wanted to chat with Nate to see if hed come on board. She was meeting him tonight. Billy told Lily to take care of Nate while he arranged the flight.
In the hotel suite, Imani confronted Amanda and said whatever game she was playing ended tonight. Amanda denied playing games. Thats not what my mother says, Imani shot back. Amanda clarified that Naya was her mother too. Please. I am my mothers one and only child, Imani contended. Amanda asked Imani if Naya sent her. Imani stated that she came of her own volition because she heard what Amanda was trying to do. Imani wasnt raised to assume people were liars, but Amanda didnt look like someone who was easily confused, so the only explanation was that she was up to something. Imani said this wasnt the first time someone tried to take advantage of their family. She accused Amanda of being a con artist. Whatever youre trying to get out of us, its not going to happen. And stay the hell away from my mother. Or you are asking for trouble. Trouble I will be more than happy to provide. No one threatens my family and gets away with it. Ask anyone whos tried, Imani warned.
Amanda noted that Imani had stormed into her suite and made a lot of accusations without letting her get a word in. Imani said she didnt trust one thing Amanda said. She said her family had dealt with people who tried to chip away with their power, position or money before. She thought this was another political power plays set up by one of her familys enemies. Amanda didnt know any of Imanis enemies. She was willing to cut Imani some slack, since this was a disorienting situation, but the threats had to stop. Amanda said she didnt want money or publicity. She just wanted answers. Imani didnt buy it, because shed questioned Naya, and shed confirmed that Imani was an only child. Amanda wasnt surprised Naya said that. Imani said her mother didnt lie to her. Frustrated, Amanda said she didnt want to fight she wanted to talk to Naya. Imani said Naya didnt want to talk to Amanda. Amanda snapped that she was just trying to figure out what happened why she was given up and why no one came to find her. She asked Imani to consider she was telling the truth for a second, and Imani heard her out. Amanda asked if Naya ever mentioned her cousin Rose who had a little girl. Imani said no. Amanda asked if Naya ever mentioned having to leave college early, and Imani said no again. Well do some digging because she did so the bottom line is everything you think is fact is actually fiction, Amanda snapped.
Amanda thought Imani seemed smart, and it was clear that she was protective of her mother, which was good. Amanda asked Imani to be objective and figure out what con she could possibly be pulling. Imani suggested that Amanda went around conning wealthy families. Amanda said she was a respected attorney. Imani made a crack about lawyers being dishonest. Amanda said that one DNA test and this scheme would go down the drain. She suggested it made more sense that she was telling the truth. Imani said shed done some digging on Amanda, but there was so little online about her prior to this year that she had to assume Amanda had herself scrubbed from the internet. Amanda understood that looked bad, but she did that because she was being stalked. No doubt by someone whose life you tried to ruin, Imani said. Amanda was adamant that Imani was very wrong about that. Imani said she had the means and connections to fill in the blanks in Amandas history, then the truth would come out. She started to leave. Amanda yelled that they werent done. Imani said they were. Go stir up trouble somewhere else. Youve been warned about what Im capable of. I can ruin you. Ive done it before, Imani snarled, then she stormed out.
Sally ran into Summer who was taking her bags out of the hotel. Sally assumed that since she didnt hear about this trip at Fenmores, Summer must be going away for pleasure, not business. Sally offered to help out at JCV while Summer was away. Summer said she had it handled, but thanks. Sally asked where Summer was going, and Summer wouldnt say. She left.
Kyle was on the Jabot jet when Summer called and said she was on her way. Billy boarded and took a seat. Kyle protested that hed booked this flight hours ago. Billy said he was headed in that direction. Kyle asked if he was going to L.A. too. Billy said he was going to the west coast, so close enough. Kyle said he was on a time sensitive trip, so Billy had to find another way to get there. He said to book the Chancellor jet, but Billy replied that Jill was using it. Kyle didnt care. He refused to fly halfway across the country with Billy. Billy said that if they doubled up, theyd be reducing their carbon footprint. Summer came in and asked what Billy was doing there. Billy asked if Summer and Kyle were on a romantic getaway. Summer didnt think they owed him an explanation, but she figured that they could all use the jet since they were going in the same direction. She asked if they could go now, and Billy said they were waiting for one more passenger.
Later, Kyle was antsy because he wanted to leave. Billy left the cockpit, where hed been chatting with the pilot. Hed arranged to be dropped off first. Kyle said they were going to be flying to L.A. first. Billy said that with these headwinds, itd be easier to drop him in Seattle first.
At Society, Lily told Nate that they were buying Ask MD Now, a website. She wanted him to be the face of the brand and help shape the direction of the site. He was flattered, but he wasnt the type. She said this was the chance for him to be a role model, and more diversity would be better. He asked if she was offering him this job because she heard how the surgery on his hand went. She said no. she thought hed enjoy this job. She told him hed have an opportunity to make a difference and he could be someone they trusted. He thought Devon might have something to say about that. She hoped they could all move forward. She had a flight to catch, so she wanted a yes now. He promised to think about it.
Jack went to the hotel for a meeting. He saw Sally rushing off and asked where she was hurrying to. She said nowhere important. When he offered her a drink, she accepted. He mentioned that he heard she and Summer were getting back on track. Sally said that she just saw Summer, who was rushing off in such a hurry that she didnt have time to say where she was going. Jack revealed that Summer and Kyle were going to L.A. on business. Sally asked who they were meeting with. Jack said they were looking into an advertising deal with someone at Spencer Publications. They talked until Jack got at text that his associate was in the restaurant. He thanked Sally for the company and left. Sallys expression darkened as she wondered what Summer was up to in L.A. Sally sent Summer a cheery text asking her to say hi to of the Spencers for her, if she ran into them in L.A.
Lily got on the jet in the midst of Kyle and Billys bickering. Kyle told her that he was thinking about throwing Billy out of the jet over Iowa. Summer got the text and groaned to Kyle that Sally found out where they were going. She said the text let her know that Sally was watching her every move. Lily tried to make conversation with Kyle and Summer about the L.A. weather, but she gave up after it was clear that they werent interesting in chatting. Billy sent Lily a text saying that it was frosty in here. He joked that it was her fault, and they laughed. Kyle quietly let Summer know hed secretly arranged for the pilot to drop them in L.A. first. Then, talking more loudly, he said he was still thinking of throwing Billy off the plane.
Summer wanted to make sure she could stay five steps ahead of Sally. Kyle was sure she already was. Summer didnt want to make the mistake of underestimating her. In the other part of the plane, Lily told Billy that Nate wanted time to think about the offer. He was sure that Nate would take the job. He said he knew how she got when she wanted something she got fire in her eye and didnt take no for an answer. Summer asked why they were going to L.A. Lily said that she probably shouldnt say anything until it was finalized. She was sure it was the same at JCV. Summer said yeah, exactly. Billy told Kyle to look at Lily and Summer talking business that wouldnt happen if they werent sharing a flight. Kyle was still annoyed about sharing the jet.
Outside the hotel, Sally called her sister and said that Summer and Kyle were on their way to L.A. and it was obvious why. Coco suggested it was just a business meeting. Sally doubted it, given the way Summer rushed out and because Summer had a meeting at Spencer. Sally didnt want Summer to find out what happened before Sally left L.A. She hoped weather would cut the trip short.
Kyle was going to get a cocktail for himself and Summer. She asked if they should offer to get the others something, but he said they could fend for themselves. Just as he was about to get up, the pilot asked everyone to fasten their seat belts because they were flying through rough weather. Summer hated turbulence. Just as Kyle said it wouldnt be bad, the plane jolted, and everyone looked apprehensive.
Devon ran into Elena at Crimson Lights. He said she looked like she was doing well. He liked her haircut. She said she was doing well, because she took his words to heart when he said to move on. She would always be sorry for what she did, but she couldnt keep living with the weight of regret. He said it might be connected to who she was moving on with. She said maybe. Her first instinct was to punish herself and not to let Nate be part of her life, but she was glad that instinct had started to fade. He said maybe this was how it was always meant to be. He realized that he didnt want to go on blaming people and full of hate and regret. It wasnt fun. It was easy to look at her and feel angry, but it didnt solve anything. She asked if that had anything to do with him and Amanda. He said no, because he and Amanda were just friends. He would do his best not to be jealous when he saw her with Nate. She was glad they talked. They parted ways.
Devon was in Amandas room. He listened to her vent her frustrations about her encounter with Imani. While Imani said shed come of her own volition, Amanda wondered if Naya actually sent her. Devon asked what kind of mother would send her daughter on an errand like that. The same kind of mother who promised to meet me face to face and then bailed at the last minute, Amanda snapped. Amanda said that if Naya sent Imani to send her a message, she was drawing a line in the sand one daughter counted and the other didnt. Devon knew Amanda was upset, and she had every right to be after being lied to, dismissed and treated like a criminal, but he thought she needed to compose herself and think about how to respond. She thought he wanted her to let Naya off the hook. He denied it. She said Imani came at her, claws out with threats. Ive got half a mind to force my newfound half-sister to back those words up, Amanda seethed.
Devon clarified that he wasnt defending Naya, but he thought Amanda had to know that Nayas emotions were also running high. He could guarantee Naya was trying to figure out the way to respond. She didnt believe that. She said Naya chose her response when she backed out of the meeting. She sent a child to handle what she shouldve handled herself, Amanda contended. She said that seemed to be a pattern when things got hard, Naya stepped back and let other people handle it, like when she let other people raise her twins. He asked if she was certain that was what happened. Amanda said that if it wasnt what happened, Naya wouldve come and told her side of the story. She was angry and near tears. She said that Naya didnt even think about how pulling out of the meeting would impact Amanda. Amanda said Naya thought her privilege would allow her to get away with it evading Amanda. Devon thought Amanda should remember that Naya didnt have to deal with her at all if she didnt want to. She said he was right. She refused to let Naya blow her off. I was supposed to meet Naya today. I will, she snapped. He reminded her that shed been scared that if she went to Wilmette shed put Naya on the defensive. Amanda didnt care about that anymore. Devon thought Amanda should give everyone time to cool off, but she wasnt interested, so he asked if he could go with her. She said shed been on her own all her life no sisters, no parents, so she was sorry, but she was going to finish this alone.
In Wilmette, Amanda knocked on Nayas door and refused to leave until they opened the door or called the police. She yelled that the neighbors were starting to notice and Naya would be the talk of the town. Naya opened the door and the pair stared at each other.
Elena went back to the suite, and when Nate arrived, she had champagne waiting for him. She told him about her talk with Devon. She felt like Devon meant it when they wished each other well. He thought that explained her smile. She said that was 25% of it, and the rest of it was all Nate. He told her about his meeting with Lily. He wasnt sure the job was right for him. What he wanted to do now was relax with her. She said he could be famous if he took that job, which was kind of hot. He didnt want to be famous. She said he was handsome, brilliant and compassionate. He smiled about her calling him handsome. She thought itd be fun to do a mock screen test. She had him stand up and asked him to talk about the importance of staying fit. She said he could talk about how he got that perfect physique. He said that he tried to exercise and he didnt treat his body like an amusement park. She commented that they had fun there earlier. She asked him to take his shirt off. He said hed lose his license, but she said it was just them. He took off his shirt, and she filmed him. She asked him to recommend cardio. He knew of something that increased the heart rate, reduced stress, burned calories and stretched muscles. Best of all, you could do it with a partner. He offered to demonstrate.
