Society was closed for the Abbott dinner party. Lola was concerned that the traditional Abbotts wouldn’t like having Christmas Eve dinner at a restaurant. Abby said that having dinner at the hottest spot in town was a hardship they’d have to muddle through. Abby asked where the flower arrangement was, and Lola said that the cute busboy had it. At that moment, Kyle walked in with it, and he and Lola kissed. Abby asked if they should set a place for Theo. Kyle didn’t know if Theo would be there. He remarked that he was always the last to know, just like when Jack hired Theo at Jabot. Lola noted that things at Jabot were working fine. She added that Theo had other plans tonight. Kyle asked how Lola knew, and she wondered why he cared. He wanted to know when she had time to talk to Theo, and she revealed that she and Theo had been texting back and forth about the holiday plans. He was surprised that he was just now hearing about this. She testily replied that she didn’t know she had to show him her texts. She asked if he wanted to read them, then she went to get her phone. While Lola’s back was turned, Abby signaled Kyle not to read the texts. Lola returned with the phone, and Kyle said he didn’t want to read them – he never meant to imply he didn’t trust her. Abby left the room. Lola thought Kyle should be sympathetic to Theo – he was alone on Christmas, his parents were dead, things were over with Summer, and he didn’t feel comfortable with the family, partially because it was new and partially because of Kyle’s attitude. Kyle said that not everyone was as lucky as he and Lola were, and he didn’t want to take it for granted. She said she forgave him, and they kissed.

Michael and Lauren were at Crimson Lights. They were going to the Abbott dinner, and he was looking forward to it, but she was down, because she wanted Fen to be there for Christmas. Michael wanted that too, but he noted that Fen was doing well in rehab. At that moment, Fen called. Michael asked if Fen got the money they sent. He did, and he put it to good use. He walked into the coffeehouse, and his parents hugged him. He revealed that he was released from rehab a week ago, and they’d moved him into a halfway house. He used the holiday money his parents sent to get a train ticket home. Michael noted that Fen was in rehab for 60 days. Lauren sensed that Fen’s relapse was more serious than they knew. Fen admitted things were bad, and he took things slow in rehab and made sure he was ready to face the world without drugs. He’d made a vow to never have to enter rehab again. He apologized for letting them down. Michael was proud of Fen for getting help, and he didn’t think there was anything disappointing about that. Lauren agreed, and she assured Fen that they loved him unconditionally. They invited him to the Abbott dinner, and he accepted.

Billy was at home on a conference call for work. He asked the person on the other end of the call to look over his suggestions tonight. The person noted that it was Christmas Eve. Billy was very much aware – he should be on a plane to Colorado with his family right now – but the deal needed to be closed. After the call, Billy needed a break, so he texted Amanda to tell her he missed his flight. Amanda teased that she’d seen this movie before, and she told him to watch out for the bad guys who might break in. Jack arrived and found the door open, so he walked in, startling Billy. Jack wanted Billy to come to the family dinner. Billy was hesitant because he had to work, and he thought it’d be rude to be on his phone at the table. Jack assured Billy it’d be fine, and he refused to leave without him. Billy agreed to go, but he told Jack to go ahead, and he promised he’d be right behind him. After Jack left, Billy saw a text from Amanda asking if he wanted to grab a bite to eat.

Billy called Victoria and left her a message, because she was still on the flight. He thanked her for letting Jack know he was on his own tonight, and he told her about the family dinner. He promised he’d see her soon, and he said he loved her. He texted Amanda that he was going to a family thing, and he asked if she wanted to get together afterward and play some cards.

Ashley was home for Christmas. She thanked Traci for buying her favorite chocolates. Traci was happy Ashley came, and she admitted fearing that Ashley would move to Paris and never look back. Ashley said she loved her family, and she didn’t want to lose them – Jack felt the same way, and he reached out, and they figured out a way to make it work.

Ashley asked if Jack was still bringing Dina over for Christmas morning. He was. Traci wished Dina could be there tonight too, but Ashley figured that a restaurant full of strangers would be too overwhelming for Dina. Traci agreed that a simple family breakfast was best. Ashley heard that Dina met Theo, and she assumed that must have meant so much to her. From what Traci heard, it brought Dina some peace. Ashley asked how things were going for Theo and Kyle at Jabot. Traci said they were making an effort.

Traci and Ashley arrived at Society and greeted their family. Ashley asked Abby about the hotel, and she said things were on the upswing now that Chance helped her oust Phyllis. Jack arrived and told everyone that Billy would be there, but Theo declined the invitation. Kyle offered to call Theo and extend a personal invitation. Jack appreciated that, but he didn’t want to pressure Theo. Kyle and Lola sneaked off to the kitchen for a private moment. Ashley asked Jack if Billy knew she’d be there. Jack hadn’t mentioned it. She was concerned Billy left Jabot because it merged with her company, and when she came home for Thanksgiving, she barely saw him. Jack assured Ashley that Billy’s decision to leave Jabot had nothing to do with her. She asked how Billy’s consulting job was going. He thought it was a stopgap until Billy found out what he was meant to do. She hoped he did.

Jack, Lauren and Fen arrived at Society. Ashley invited them to Paris sometime, and Lauren considered going in February, for Fashion Week. Fen suggested he go too, and Lauren loved the idea. Michael liked the idea of a family vacation. Ashley insisted they stay with her, as she had plenty of room. Jack took Michael aside and said it was great news about Fen. They toasted to him being healthy and happy. Kyle and Lola returned. Kyle hugged Fen. Fen congratulated the couple on their marriage and Lola on becoming head chef. Traci and Lauren teased Lola and Kyle because Kyle had a lipstick smudge on his lips. Billy arrived. He looked in the window and saw everyone laughing, and Lola wiping her lipstick off of Kyle. He walked in, and everyone greeted him warmly. Michael joked that Billy timed things perfectly, not flying out until Christmas, because now he wouldn’t have to spend Christmas Eve night assembling toys. Michael and Lauren shared a story about putting a bike together when Fen was little. Billy said Victoria was the type to assemble everything and have it shipped to Colorado days ago.

Billy was happy to see Fen, and he asked if he was visiting. Fen stated that he just got out of rehab. He explained that it was like he got lost, on tour, and it was like he couldn’t trust himself anymore. Based on his expression, this struck a chord with Billy. Jack knew that feeling. Fen said quitting was hard, and it was a struggle, but he was trying to be the best version of himself. Jack made a toast about everything the family had to be grateful for – Abby’s business success, Kyle’s marriage, Traci’s mystery novel, which would be out any day now, Billy’s reunion with Victoria, Jack’s reconciliation with Ashley, and their friends who’d been so amazing. He noted that there had been heartache too – Dina had slipped further away, and they lost Neil. Jack learned to say what was in his heart while there was still time. He thanked everyone for their presence in his life. He wished them good health. They all said Merry Christmas.

Billy stepped outside for a phone call. He was relieved that the deal was closed. Back inside, everyone sat down to dinner, and Fen asked Kyle what it was like working with Jack. Kyle had a ton of positive things to say. Lauren asked how it was working with Theo. Kyle said kind things, but he was mostly at a loss for words. Jack said to give it time. Lauren thought that was excellent advice – she’d had to learn to work with Jill once she found out they were sisters, and Jill became half-owner of Fenmore’s. Billy returned and overheard Lauren talking about how stubborn someone was. He asked who, and she said his mother, but she said she loved Jill dearly now.

Kyle told everyone that Lola was tired, so they were going to leave. Lola did a fake yawn, as she went along with the excuse, and everyone laughed. Traci gave everyone advanced copies of her book Stolen Lockets and Broken Hearts. She’d put personalized inscriptions into them. Lola and Kyle left. Ashley asked Abby where Chance was. Abby said he was with Nina. Ashley thought that was good, since you wanted a guy who got along with his mother. Abby was shocked Ashley knew. Ashley noticed Abby smiled whenever Chance came up. Abby admitted they’d gone out, and they were just enjoying each other’s company right now.

Billy asked Michael about Chloe and Kevin’s holiday. Michael said that, for the first time in years, they were going to have a quiet day with Esther. Billy was happy for them. Michael hoped they’d learned their lesson. Billy said you couldn’t always expect your big brother to bail you out, while gesturing toward Jack. Billy checked his phone. Amanda asked him to text when he was free. He told his family he had to go. They said goodbye and wished him a safe flight. The Baldwins left next.

Outside the restaurant, Fen gave Lauren and Michael a compass, which symbolized their love and guidance. He couldn’t thank them enough for saving his life. Michael said they loved him very much. They had a group hug, and Michael kissed Fen and Lauren.

At their place, Kyle took off his shirt, and Lola considered that an early Christmas gift. She wondered if they were wrong to rush out early. She was pretty sure his family was on to them. He said the Abbotts thought she could do no wrong, and he thought everyone understood why they wanted some alone time on their first Christmas as newlyweds. He pulled her into a kiss, but she pulled back because it was time to open gifts. He was a little leery after last Christmas when he gave her the infamous purse. She recalled giving him a watch, when he already had a better one. He said the one she gave him was still his favorite. She noted that they knew each other better this year. She opened her gift – it was a book of the world’s best restaurants, and it had a voucher for a trip anywhere in the world. He promised to take her to any restaurant in the book, and maybe one day they could do them all. She loved it. She got him a framed picture of the night sky. She also booked a cabin to a spot where light pollution was restricted, so you could get a better view of the stars, including their star. He loved her gift too. She noted that they got each other the same gift. They kissed.

Billy went home. He talked with Katie, then Victoria. He told her he was going to bed right now, for his flight, then he looked at the text from Amanda. He played cards alone at his table.

Traci, Jack and Ashley brought Dina home early so that she could see the Christmas tree. She marveled at all the gifts and wondered if any of them were for her. They told her they were all for her. After she opened her gifts, Jack read Twas the Night Before Christmas. Jack wished he’d come up with this idea earlier, because he could’ve arranged for carolers. Traci sang O Come, All Ye Faithful. Dina joined in, then the rest of the family did the same.
