At the ranch, Nikki urged Victor to get upstairs before Michael came in, but he assured her it was alright. Michael reeled when he saw Victor, then they hugged. Victor explained that the deceit was necessary, and Michael realized that this was an elaborate plot to prove Adam tampered with Victor’s medication. There was a flashback to Victor, Nikki and Nate explaining to Nick and Abby that the latest blood tests showed that Victor had been taking twice the amount of the experimental drug. Nikki and Victor laid out the plan to set a trap for Adam. Victor really hoped to see if Adam showed remorse, but Nick and Abby didn’t think Adam would have regrets. Nikki hoped that everyone would support Victor’s plan. Nikki thought they’d need someone on the inside of the investigation, so Victor instructed her to make the call. Nate knew that this would be a serious ethical breach, but he didn’t think they could allow Adam to get away with this. Victor didn’t want Summer to know the truth, because he was concerned she’d let the truth slip to Phyllis. Nick hated that lying to Summer, but he agreed to go along with it. He also decided to keep Chelsea in the dark, so that she wouldn’t feel stuck between them and Connor’s father. Just as they were discussing everything, Summer, then Adam arrived. In the present, Michael asked why Victor was revealing himself now.

Chelsea wanted to leave and get air. Nick plead with Chelsea to stay and talk, but she thought there was nothing more to say. She noted that he lied to her about Victor, Connor thought his grandfather was dead, and now he was even more devastated because Adam was leaving. She thought that all Nick and his family cared about was the stupid plan to take Adam down. She snapped that he made his choice and broke her trust, and now her son was in pain. Nick urged her to see things from his perspective, but then he got a text summoning him to the ranch. He promised to come back as soon as possible, but Chelsea told him not to bother.

Rey was happy to run into Sharon at Crimson Lights, because he was hoping she could help him find Adam. He told her that there was a development in the investigation into Victor’s death. Sharon recalled her last conversation with Adam, and she wondered if he’d left town.

Nick, Victoria, Abby, Nate and Paul joined the others at the ranch. Michael said he was impressed with all their performances, especially Paul’s. Paul revealed that the pharmacist admitted that she’d sold the pills to Adam and that she’d been paid to implicate Victoria. Everyone was relieved. Michael was eager to prosecute Adam, but Paul said they had to find him first. Victor said that wouldn’t happen, because Adam left town. He explained that Adam paid him a visit, and it was clear that Adam had changed. Victor received reactions of stunned disapproval when he announced that he’d let Adam go. He clarified that Adam slipped out while his back was turned. Nick thought Victor should’ve called security. Victor hoped Adam would start a new life for himself. Frustrated, Paul said Adam committed serious crimes, and the only reason Paul took part in the scheme was to see justice served. While Victor appreciated Paul’s help, he made it clear that he would not cooperate in helping locate or prosecute Adam. Paul was sure that Adam hadn’t changed, and he believed Victor would come to regret this. Paul left. Victor apologized to the others for putting them through this.

At The Grand Phoenix, Phyllis thanked Summer for meeting her. Summer explained that she wasn’t able to handle it when Phyllis tried to force mother/daughter time on her the other day, because she knew how Phyllis felt about Victor. Phyllis apologized and admitted she handled it poorly. She was willing to put her feelings about Victor aside and focus on being there for Summer. Phyllis offered to attend the memorial service with Summer. Summer acknowledged that Phyllis had a good reason to hate Victor, but it made her wary of bringing her to the private funeral. Phyllis swore she wasn’t planning to cause a scene – she only wanted to be there for Summer. Summer asked if Phyllis would be planning to comfort Adam at the service. Phyllis said that Adam left town, apparently for good. Summer was incensed that he was getting to leave town after possibly killing Victor. Phyllis noted that Adam had not been arrested. Summer started to rant about what a monster Adam was, and Phyllis stated that he was a complicated man, like his father. She conceded that he’d done some unforgivable things, but she said Victor had too, and just as Summer saw a lot of good in Victor, Phyllis saw a lot of good in Adam. She understood Adam, and she felt that she’d seen a side of him few people had. Summer didn’t want to hear this, but she was sure that everyone was better off without Adam in their lives. Phyllis wanted to take Summer on an outing to cheer her up, but Summer didn’t want to do anything. Chelsea arrived, and Phyllis tried to talk to her about Adam leaving town, but Chelsea brusquely stated that she didn’t want to discuss it, and she walked away. Summer wished Phyllis wouldn’t have upset Chelsea like that. Phyllis said it wasn’t her intention. Meanwhile Summer got a call from Nick, but she didn’t notice because the phone was on silent.

At the penthouse, Devon was taken aback by the news that Cane was meant to get Devon’s share of the estate. Cane thought this was crazy. Jill knew that Katherine loved Cane, but she didn’t think Katherine intended to make him her primary beneficiary. Cane stated that he’d only joined the meeting for moral support, and he had no idea about this turn of events. Brittany looked at the alleged will, and she and Devon scoffed when they saw that it was a photocopy. Brittany felt there was no point in having the conversation if there were no pages to authenticate. Amanda claimed she’d be receiving the real paperwork soon, and she said she kept the meeting so that Devon wouldn’t have to wait any longer for information. He ordered her not to act like she was doing him any favors, and she stated that she was doing her job. She contended that Chance wanted to make sure that Katherine’s real wishes were carried out and to expose Tucker for altering the will. Devon argued that her client had a lot of explaining to do – such as explaining why he’d only been in contact with Amanda and why he wouldn’t send her the real pages of the will. He suggested that it was because it wasn’t real. Jill was adamant that her grandson would never dirty his hands with something like this. Brittany said that if and when the real will arrived, she’d have her experts do an analysis. Amanda had expected that. Amanda was going to leave, but Devon insisted that she hear what he had to say. He thought they both knew the claim sounded ridiculous, and he wasn’t sure if she was trying to make a buck or if she had her own agenda, but he urged her to think long and hard about whether to pursue this. She asked if that was a threat, and he said he wanted her to understand the magnitude of what she was taking on – attacking the legitimacy of his inheritance and accusing a man of Tucker’s stature of forgery and fraud. She asked if he’d been able to reach Tucker. He hadn’t. She suggested he consider why the head of an international conglomerate would just go off the grid with no warning – was it a sign of guilt? He countered that her client was AWOL, but she said that Chance had nothing to gain. Cane showed Amanda out. Brittany told Devon that the case seemed bogus – Cane wasn’t even Katherine’s blood relative, so why would she leave him a greater portion of her estate?

Michael started a press conference at the ranch and announced a major development in Victor’s case. Everyone at the hotel, Crimson Lights, and the penthouse watched it. Victor walked up and explained that he and his family faked his death because of a threat on his life. He appreciated the concern and support everyone showed his family, and he asked that his family’s privacy be respected. At the hotel, Summer was crying and shaking, and she didn’t understand why she’d been left out of the loop. Chelsea got her a water. Phyllis accused Chelsea of knowing the truth all along. Chelsea said she found out an hour ago, and Phyllis was angry that Chelsea didn’t have the decency to say anything. Phyllis was sure Nick knew, and she stormed off to confront him. Summer went too.

At Crimson Lights, Sharon was shocked. She asked if Rey was in on the scheme. He wasn’t. Paul had arrived, and Rey asked if Paul knew the truth. He admitted he did. Rey was bothered that Paul had him working on a fake murder case. Paul stated that the attempted murder was real. Sharon asked if Adam had been arrested, and Paul filled her in. She went to call Nick. “What the hell, Paul?,” Rey said. Paul said he was just as frustrated as Rey was. Rey doubted that.

On the patio, Sharon called Nick and confronted him about keeping her in the dark. He said the fewer people who knew the better. She was worried about their kids. Nick had already told Noah the truth awhile ago. Sharon asked about Faith. He said they couldn’t trust a young kid to keep the secret. Sharon noted that Faith had been planning to come home from boarding school for the funeral. Nick had tried to call Faith before the press conference, but he couldn’t reach her. Sharon said she’d handle it. Later, Sharon finished a call with Faith. She told Rey that Faith was relieved Victor was alive, but she had questions, which Sharon was going to let Nick handle. Rey didn’t think he’d ever get used to the way the Newmans operated. Sharon said that after all these years, nothing should surprise her, but she didn’t see this coming.

Back at the ranch, Victor thanked Michael for his help. Michael inquired about the location of the Newman jet, and Victor said it was in the hangar and had been all day. He stated that he didn’t help, or encourage Adam to leave. Michael left. Summer ran in and hugged Victor. Nick apologized. Phyllis walked in and demanded to know how they could all do this to Summer. Summer said she wasn’t a child, so she didn’t understand why they lied to her. Victor kissed her cheek and said he was sorry, but that was how it had to be. Phyllis ordered him not to dismiss Summer’s questions. Phyllis accurately guessed that they kept the truth from Summer because they didn’t want her to tell Phyllis. Summer looked betrayed, and she noted that they’d let her grieve. Nick asked what he could do to make it up to Summer. Phyllis said there was nothing he could do for Summer. Phyllis couldn’t believe Nick did that to Summer so he could get rid of Adam. Phyllis took Summer’s hand, and they left. Nick tried to go after Summer, but Victoria told him to give her space. Victor was glad that the terrible journey was over. Nick asked if the pain and suffering was ever over where Adam was concerned. Victor hoped so.

Back at the penthouse, Jill thought the entire situation was typical Victor. Devon was glad Victor was alive, but he was focused on his own issue. Unlike Jill, Devon wasn’t sure that Chance was incapable of being underhanded. Jill said there was no proof that Chance hired Amanda – Chance was a good man with a good heart. Devon felt that either Chance had changed, or he’d hired Amanda because someone had convinced him that the first will was fake, which meant he was the victim of a scam. Devon accused Cane of being involved, since he had something to gain and since he’d invited himself to be part of the meeting. When Jill said Cane would never do such a thing, Devon countered that Cane came to town pretending to be a Chancellor. Cane admitted he’d done some underhanded things, but he said he’d never use Katherine’s memory that way. Devon apologized for suspecting Cane. Jill was worried, because Chance had never been out of contact for this long. Cane said he’d go find Chance, and he’d take a leave of absence from his job to do so. Devon said he could just hire a PI, but Cane said he wanted to do this for Devon and for everyone who loved Katherine. Jill was grateful. Cane asked where Chance had last been seen. Devon said Vegas, with Adam.

Adam was back in Vegas, going by Spider again. He was seen playing poker.
