At the GCPD, Adam thanked Paul for agreeing to meet with him. Adam claimed he wanted to be a helpful citizen, and he revealed that he might have information on Calvin’s case. Paul said that someone had implicated Adam in the case. Adam said that the old Paul wouldn’t have given credence to a con like Chelsea. Paul asked why Adam thought he was referring to Chelsea. Adam said that the wife was always the most obvious choice, so he assumed she was deflecting suspicion off herself. Adam said that Chelsea was the only person with Calvin that night, she stood to benefit financially, and she was furious with Calvin. When Paul asked if he was supposed to take Adam’s word for it, Adam revealed that he recorded a conversation where Chelsea admitted being angry with Calvin for believing that Adam should raise Connor. Paul wondered why Adam would record the conversation. Adam did it to protect himself – his motto was to trust no one. Paul asked about accusing Chelsea of murder. “The bitch turned on me. Why should I be loyal to her?” Adam snapped.
Billy was at Crimson Lights when he got a text from an unknown number asking him to check on Kevin. Phyllis noticed that Billy looked troubled, so she sidled up to him and asked if he had trouble at home. He told her jealousy didn’t look good on her, and he left. Christine walked in, and Phyllis offered to buy her a coffee to celebrate the end of Christine’s sick desire to prosecute innocent people. When Christine declined, Phyllis asked if she was afraid of being poisoned. Christine noted that it’d be more subtle than running her over with a car. Phyllis looked forward to watching Christine spend the rest of her life in pain and humiliation. Christine intended to have a happier life now that she’d resigned. Phyllis said no one in town bought Christine’s sweet innocent act. She thought it was ironic that Victor took her down – the man Christine always looked up to had exposed her hypocrisy. “The bug is finally squashed,” Phyllis added. Phyllis tried to pay for Christine’s drink, but Christine didn’t want to take a gift from a murder suspect that she got to flip on her friends. Phyllis thought Christine screwed her over to get her convictions and made everyone hate Phyllis for no reason. Phyllis was glad not to be the most hated person in town. Christine was sorry she wouldn’t be able to throw Phyllis in jail next time she broke the law. Phyllis crowed that she’d become a pillar of respect, while Christine was drowning in humiliation. Christine thought Phyllis was delusional if she thought that teaming up with Adam made her a pillar of respect.
Billy went to the Chancellor house looking for Jill. She wasn’t there, but Esther was home. Esther said Kevin wasn’t there either, and she had no idea where he was. He wondered what that little twerp was up to, and she assumed Chloe asked him to check on Kevin. Billy and Esther marveled about Chloe being alive. Esther didn’t want to leave Portland, but Chloe made her come home to check on Kevin. Esther was afraid Chloe would come back to Genoa City if Kevin didn’t go home to Portland soon. Esther had tried to find out what Kevin was up to, but he’d been evasive. She begged Billy to do something. Billy noticed Delia’s doll on the floor, and Esther was surprised because she’d packed Delia’s things away. She theorized that Kevin took it out so he could show it to Bella during their video chat.
Phyllis was at Dark Horse on the phone with someone boasting about the amenities of the new hotel. She was planning the launch party. Adam came in, and Phyllis told him that the hotel was going to get her on the cover of Forbes and make him richer. He told her that Victoria said he shouldn’t trust Phyllis to run Dark Horse. Phyllis said she could handle Victoria, and no Newman would ever get the better of her again. She asked what was really going on with Adam. He revealed that he gave Paul evidence that Chelsea had a motive to kill her husband. He said Chelsea was about to find out what a mistake it was to keep his son from him. Later, Adam returned after an employee gave him a video walk through of the new hotel. He was impressed. She said he should congratulate Nick, since he worked on the hotel for nearly a year, and they were reaping the benefits. He sarcastically noted that she felt bad. She said she felt as bad as he did about implicating Chelsea in a murder. Adam mentioned that he wanted to choose the next DA, and he planned to make some generous donations to make sure he got his way.
On Crimson Light’s patio, Lola and Mariah watched the cooking video, and Lola praised Mariah’s editing skills. Mariah thought her best move was calling Kyle in to help Lola relax. Mariah was about to post the video, but Lola didn’t want it to be posted until after the wedding. Lola said she loved her mom, but she and Kyle had their fill of Mama Rosales. Lola told Mariah how Celeste showed up while she and Kyle thought they had the place to themselves. Lola didn’t think it was a case of bad timing – she thought Celeste knew what she was doing. Lola didn’t want to be on bad terms with her mom, but she couldn’t let Celeste run her life. Lola wanted to clear the air with her mom over lunch, but the problem was that Kyle would be there. Lola didn’t want to have the conversation with him around, because she didn’t want him to be caught in the middle. Celeste was expecting Kyle to be there, so Lola felt stuck. Mariah offered to show up at the restaurant and make up an excuse to get Kyle to leave with her.
Paul met with Christine at Crimson Lights and they talked about Calvin’s case. He showed her the medical examiner’s report.
Nick brought Chelsea takeout from the Club, and they reminisced about old times. He told her that Faith and Christian would love to see Connor. She didn’t want to bring Connor to Genoa City. She reminded him how Adam reacted when he found out Nick took her to see Connor. He didn’t think she should let Adam dictate her decisions. Chelsea pointed out that Nick had a bodyguard on Christian. Nick said they couldn’t let Adam stop them from raising their boys the way they wanted. Chelsea noted that she just told Connor that the man he saw as a father died, and she thought it’d be too much to tell him that Adam was alive. Nick didn’t think she had to tell Connor that Adam was alive or tell Adam that Connor was in town. Chelsea didn’t want to sneak Connor into town. Nick saw her point and agreed that it wasn’t a good idea. They talked about how close the kids used to be. She used to look at Connor and Christian and think how happy it would make Adam to know that Nick was raising his sons. Nick said Adam was now suing for custody of Christian and Connor could be next. Chelsea was scared of what would happen to Connor if she was arrested for Calvin’s death. Nick didn’t think Paul had a reason to think Chelsea killed Calvin. Chelsea brought up what happened with Nikki and Victoria. Nick thought that was all the more reason for Paul to get it right this time. She felt like the walls were closing in with Paul and Adam. Nick told Chelsea that if she took Connor on the run, things would get worse. Chelsea said she usually didn’t back down, but Adam had a way of wearing her down. Nick promised to hold her up if she wanted. She asked why he was being so good to her. He was hurt, sad and angry when she left, but he never… The doorbell rang, interrupting him. It was Paul. He told Chelsea that Calvin died of a heart attack. The case was closed. Before they parted ways, Paul warned Chelsea to watch out for Adam because he didn’t have her best interests at heart. Chelsea was relieved – she knew Adam wasn’t the man she fell in love with, but she was relieved Adam wasn’t capable of killing Calvin. Nick was surprised she was worried about Adam. She stammered that she was worried for Connor’s sake – she didn’t want to have to tell him that his father murdered his stepfather. He thought she’d been worried she’d be arrested. She said she’d been worried about that too. He promised that he wouldn’t let Adam hurt her.
At Society, Kyle pulled out Celeste’s chair. She called him a gentleman, and he told her that when you were raised by a single mom, you learned how to treat a woman. They were both early, and she assumed he wanted to clear the air. He said they weren’t expecting company last night, and she admitted she should’ve called, but she also expected Lola to be alone at that hour. She said she wanted to talk to Lola because they used to be really close. Kyle said Lola still felt close to Celeste. He understood why Lola loved and respected Celeste, and he said they valued her input at the wedding. All Celeste wanted was for Lola to be happy. Kyle agreed. “Excellent. Thank goodness because I don’t want to worry about another repeat of last night,” Celeste stated. Kyle was caught off guard. “You have plenty of time for all that after the wedding,” she continued. Just then, Lola walked up. Celeste thought things were happening so fast – the job, the wedding and now the cooking video – she suggested that Lola and Kyle could slow things down. Kyle didn’t want to postpone the wedding. Celeste agreed that they should get married on their own timeline. Mariah came up and pulled Kyle away for an “emergency.”
Kyle and Mariah sat in the back, and he peered at Celeste and Lola and worried about what was happening. Back at the table, Lola showed Celeste the cooking video. Celeste said Lola was all grown up, and she was afraid Lola wouldn’t need her anymore. Lola said she’d always need Celeste. Celeste asked Lola to tell her when she was overstepping, and she’d back off. Lola laughed because she knew Celeste would never back off, but Lola appreciated the effort. Celeste promised to try really hard, and Lola said that was enough. At first Celeste said she was sorry Kyle couldn’t join them, then she admitted she was actually happy she had Lola to herself because they got a chance to talk. Lola was sorry if she made Celeste feel like she was intruding. Celeste just wanted to have a place in Lola’s life. Lola wanted Celeste to be close, like they’d always been. Celeste was pleased, but she misunderstood and thought Lola was inviting her to move back into the apartment. Lola tried to set Celeste straight, but it was too late; Celeste was already rushing out the door to go get her stuff. Lola told Kyle what happened. She felt bad, but he said they had the next 67 years to live together, and this was the last time Celeste would have to live with Lola. He thought it’d be hot to sneak around with Lola, finding places to hook up.
Nikki dropped by Newman to let Victoria know that she had a doctor’s appointment – a check up, then she’d be meeting Victor for lunch. Victoria asked if Victor was experiencing any side effects from the treatment. Nikki revealed that sometimes he forgot why he walked into a room or what day it was, or he’d think he needed to do something he already did. Victoria could see why that would upset him since he’d always been so sharp. Nikki said that if this was as bad as it got, they could handle it.
At Society, Billy told Victoria that when he picked up Delia’s doll, for a split second, it felt like she was there. He knew it was crazy. She assured him that it wasn’t crazy, but she thought there was more to this than the doll. She thought Adam, Kevin and visiting Delia’s grave had been too much. They overheard Victor making a bit of a scene at the bar. Victoria went over to check on him. The bartender apologetically explained that they didn’t stock the brand of tequila Victor wanted, but Victor insisted that he’d been coming here for years, and he always ordered that brand. Victoria suggested that Victor try a different brand, but he stormed off to find Nikki. Victoria took Victor to Newman, where Nikki was waiting, then she left. Nikki hugged Victor. He now realized his mistake at the bar, and it was very disturbing to him because he knew people would start talking if he kept having outbursts. She pointed out that he never cared what people said. She told him that they could spend more time at the ranch if he wanted – they could take walks, go riding or swim. Victor didn’t think they could ignore his problem anymore. Nikki promised that they’d get through this. He asked what he’d do without her. She promised she’d be there with him and they’d get there together. She asked him to promise to stay positive. Victoria returned after Victor went to the car. Victoria said that the side effects were temporary, and they’d subside after the treatment. Nikki noted that Nate said the same thing, but she was worried. She wasn’t sure Victor would be able to handle this if the side effects were permanent. Victoria urged Nikki to trust the experts. Nikki left, and Victoria stared at Victor’s portrait.
Billy went back to the Chancellor mansion, and he told Esther he was here for the doll. He picked it up, and he got choked up because he could hear Delia laughing. Esther asked if he was okay, and he said he was fine.
