Phyllis halfheartedly prepared a TV dinner at her place. She believed Billy was working late and had no idea he was actually at the Club playing poker. Summer suggested they get some real food. Phyllis decided to buy a gourmet meal and take it to Billy's office to surprise him. Summer insisted that Phyllis couldn't do that. Summer covered and predicted that Billy would get thrown off his game if Phyllis showed up in the middle of the conference. Phyllis was confused because she remembered Summer saying Billy was taking a phone call. Summer said it was a phone conference. Phyllis wondered who he was conferencing with at this hour. Summer nervously scratched her arm as she muttered something about multiple parties and foreign time zones. Summer said that Billy didn't give her any details, but it seemed like he was working on something that could be a big score for Jabot; something that would impress Ashley. Phyllis grumbled about Ashley sashaying back into Jabot, hoping to catch Billy screwing up, which he hadn't.

Phyllis wanted the Abbotts to show Billy some gratitude since the job and their respect meant everything to him. Summer said that was why she didn't think Billy needed the distraction that Phyllis would cause if she showed up. Summer noted that nothing distracted Billy like Phyllis. Phyllis thought there might be a compliment in that statement. Summer said there was, then she said Phyllis was hot. Phyllis believed that Ashley's return had put a lot of pressure on Billy. Phyllis hoped he wasn't acting recklessly while brokering the deal. Phyllis asked if Billy mentioned any company names. Summer said no, but he'd seemed confident about the deal. Summer offered to treat Phyllis to dinner as a way to make up for being difficult when she first returned to town. Phyllis hugged Summer and went upstairs to change. Summer texted Billy for an update on the game and asked when he'd be back. He told her he'd leave once he made the money to purchase Jaboat. Summer urged him to make it quick, because Phyllis was the ultimate wild card. Phyllis returned and Summer suggested Top of the Tower. Phyllis didn't want to run into Victor. Phyllis wanted to go to the Club, and despite her efforts, Summer wasn't able to convince Phyllis to choose another restaurant.

At the Club, Phyllis thought Summer seemed distracted. Summer made up an excuse. Phyllis asked Summer how everything was going with her. Summer mentioned that her job was more interesting than she expected it to be. Summer wanted to check her phone, so she made up an excuse about checking her work email, but Phyllis told her that no one would expect her to be on call that late and she advised her not to work so hard. Summer shifted gears and said she forgot to make sure her order wouldn't be cooked in peanut oil, which she had a severe allergy to. Phyllis went to check, and Summer seized the opportunity to text Billy asking for another update. Phyllis returned, and she sent Billy a text. George, Summer's poker buddy, walked over and asked if she'd be at the game. Summer pretended not to know what he was talking about.

George mentioned Summer's friend, clearly referring to Billy. Summer began to speak quickly before he could elaborate. She said she wouldn't be at the game tonight because she was having dinner with her mom. George was surprised Phyllis was her mom. Summer pointedly said goodbye to George, who took the hint and left, then she apologized to Phyllis for his rudeness. Phyllis thought Summer was the one who'd been impolite; she felt that George seemed lovely. Phyllis asked about the game. Summer lied and said it was a video game tournament. Phyllis was intrigued and she thought it would be a fun event for her and Summer to attend. Summer sulked and said she didn't want to compete with a video game for Phyllis's attention. Later, at home, Summer said she hoped her tantrum didn't ruin the night. Phyllis wasn't fazed by it. Phyllis checked her phone and wondered why Billy never replied. Summer advised her not to worry. Summer went upstairs and texted Billy to see how it was going. She didn't notice Phyllis leave.

Hilary and Mariah filmed the Hilary Hour at Dive Bar. Hilary's sympathetic segment about a viewer's injured cockatiel was interrupted by peals of laughter from Nate, who was over by the bar with a woman. During the commercial break, Hilary stormed over and berated Nate about laughing at an injured bird. Nate apologized and said he wasn't paying attention to Hilary's little show; he was focused on his companion. Hilary suggested he take his date elsewhere. Nate clarified that the woman was an old friend, not a date. He suggested that Hilary film from a studio instead of a pool. Hilary sharply defended the creative choice to film at the pool. She said it made her show energetic and spontaneous. Nate said spontaneity was his middle name. Hilary was skeptical. During the next segment, Hilary and Mariah discussed juice cleanses. Hilary made some health claims about the benefits of juicing, and Nate loudly interjected, challenging the claims. Hilary commented on the opinionated audience member. Mariah conceded that they weren't doctors, but Hilary contended that it didn't take a surgeon to know eating vegetables was the path to better health.

Hilary confronted Nate after the show, and he said he was only trying to save her from a false claims lawsuit. Hilary wondered how he'd feel if she followed him around commenting on his beside manner. Nate thought it might be good for her to shadow a doctor, so she'd stop spreading misinformation. Mariah thought Nate was angling for a job. Hilary said she'd sooner hire Hannibal Lecter. Mariah asked if Nate had a card. Hilary introduced the pair, then she left. Mariah told Nate that Hilary was protective of her show, but Hilary could be surprising in a good way.

Victor met Nate at the penthouse and said to be quick because he had other work to do. Nate asked what happened to taking it easy. Victor said that wasn't a viable option due to the attacks on his company. Nate reminded Victor that they'd both committed to this treatment. Nate knew that Victor had missed his physical therapy appointment this morning. Victor insisted that he was doing his best. Nate disagreed since Victor had postponed the appointment with Nate this morning. Victor said he had other priorities, but Nate said Nate was only concerned with Victor's health. Victor considered going to a different doctor. Nate said that if Victor wanted a personal physician who was a doormat or who'd cash his checks while watching him damage his body, their arrangement wasn't going to work. Nate said that, like Victor, he had no patience for people who did their jobs carelessly. Nate told Victor to leave if he felt he could do better, but he warned Victor that the next time, Victor might be the one who fell, not a glass of water. Victor decided to stay with Nate because he heeded to be 100% to fight what was coming his way. However, Victor warned that Nate would need a doctor if he didn't fulfill his commitment to Victor. Nate smiled.

After the exam, Nate revealed that Victor had a setback. Nate felt that Victor needed intense PT and some medication. Victor wasn't pleased about the pills, but Nate asserted that it was necessary for Victor to make a recovery. Nate told Victor that he'd need to start PT tomorrow. Victor balked because he was expecting an important legal decision tonight. Nate noted that tonight was not tomorrow, and he asked Victor to stop trying to renegotiate his treatment plan. “Mr. Newman you can not make deals where your health is concerned,” Nate said. Victor chuckled and agreed. Nate walked Victor to the elevator and instructed him to get more sleep, more PT and to limit stress. Victor boarded the elevator. Hilary exited her apartment and was amused when she noticed that Nate was locked out. She condescendingly explained that he could use the doorbell to rouse Neil. Nate said he wasn't home. Hilary asked who she heard Nate talking to earlier, and he refused to say. Nate asked about Devon's emergency keys for the penthouses. Hilary said Devon had some, but she wouldn't give them to Nate. She went back inside, leaving him stranded in the hall.

Phyllis went to Billy's office and found it empty. Just then, Billy answered her text and told her he was still at the office. Phyllis went to Crimson Lights and texted Hilary. Hilary arrived and railed about Nate asking to borrow keys after interrupting her show. Hilary noticed Phyllis's expression and asked what was wrong. She confided that Billy lied to her about working late. Phyllis suspected Billy had also lied a couple of weeks ago when he'd said he was working late. Hilary suggested he was working on a surprise marriage proposal, but Phyllis didn't think so. Hilary asked if Phyllis really thought he was cheating. Phyllis said that they spent a lot of time together, and she knew he was happy and that he loved her, and their amorous activities hadn't slowed down. Hilary thought Billy would be crazy to leave Phyllis. Hilary said that Phyllis knew Billy, and if she sensed something was wrong, maybe it was. She gave Phyllis a card from the private investigator the Hilary Hour used. Phyllis appreciated the offer, but she didn't want to spy on Billy. Hilary urged her to keep the card just in case.

Back at the apartment, Summer texted Billy that she successfully diverted Phyllis. Summer expected to hear that Billy's mission was equally successful.

At the cottage, Sharon jumped when Nick slipped up behind her and hugged her. She explained that she was on edge because she saw JT last night. Nick noticed a text from Brittany stating that the arbitrator would give them her decision by the end of the day. Sharon was nervous, but Nick had a feeling that Victor was going to lose this time. Nick showed Sharon all the toys he bought Christian. Sharon was worried Nick was getting his hopes up. She noted that Victor had a habit of rising from the ashes. Nick told her not to buy into Victor's self generated hype. He said Victor's bravado was the key to his downfall. He pointed out all that happened to Newman, thanks to JT. Sharon hoped Nick didn't condone what JT did. Nick said that Victor wasn't the powerhouse he used to be if he let a loser like JT do this much damage. Sharon was rattled and asked to change the subject. Nick assured her that she was safe – ranch security was on high alert. Nick left for a New Hope meeting.

Later, Sharon's nerves were frayed as she waited for news on Christian. She was glad Mariah was there with her. Mariah was worried about the outcome too. Mariah shifted gears and said she could've sworn she heard a man's voice upstairs at Victoria' house on girls' night. She asked if it was JT. Sharon paced the room and tried to convince Mariah that she was mistaken. Mariah could tell that this secret was killing Sharon. Mariah assured Sharon that she wouldn't be shocked or judge Sharon. Sharon talked with Mariah off screen. Mariah admitted she was shocked, despite her earlier assurance. Mariah thought it was more accurate to say Sharon admitted JT was there that night. Sharon confessed that she and the others had helped a murderous psychopath skip town. Mariah thought that it was more accurate to say Sharon, Phyllis and Nikki helped Victoria help JT. Sharon said it all happened so fast and they weren't sure if Victoria had feelings for JT or if she was scared of him. Sharon said she just wanted to get JT away from them all as quickly as possible. Mariah understood why Sharon would feel that way, given JT's multiple attempts on Victor's life. “I mean what if he had turned on you guys up there? What could you have done? Besides bash his head in with one of Victoria's power stilettos?,” Mariah pondered. Sharon looked shaken.

Mariah felt that they all did the right thing. Sharon said Victoria felt ashamed of doing what JT asked, so she confessed to Paul a few weeks later. Mariah was relieved that Victoria left Sharon out of the confession. Sharon felt lucky that she didn't face any repercussions. Mariah countered that she had, since she'd been so torn up about this. Mariah wished Sharon had told her sooner. Sharon said she didn't want to drag Mariah into this. Mariah assured Sharon that she'd support her, and she thought Nick would too. Sharon was adamant that Nick could never know. Sharon said that if this went public and she was charged with aiding Victor's would-be killer, Nick would lose custody of Christian for good. Mariah was adamant that this wouldn't happen, and she hugged Sharon.

At Dive Bar, Nick and Victor exchanged an icy look as Nick wrapped up his meeting. After the meeting, Nick walked over to Victor. Victor asked if Nick was interviewing a possible new attorney. Nick said he was raising money for New Hope. Victor assumed that Nick must be feeling confident about the hearing if he was able to focus on work tonight. Nick said that there was only one decision that made sense to any reasonable person. Victor agreed. Nick wondered if the custody ruling results would be leaked online. He noted that someone had it out for Newman, or maybe just Victor – someone who was smart, vicious and unstoppable. Nick and Victor both got texts.

Back at the cottage, Sharon fretted because Nick hadn't called about the ruling. She assumed he must've received bad news. Mariah hugged her. Nick opened the door and stood on the porch with a serious expression. Mariah and Sharon looked crushed. Nick turned back toward the porch and when he turned around to face Sharon and Mariah, he had Christian in his arms. Nick explained that he won custody because Victor was hiding his health issues and consumed by the crisis at Newman. Nick and Sharon kissed, then they cuddled Christian.

While Nick and Sharon celebrated, Victor was alone at Dive Bar, looking dejected.
