Hilary approached Jack, at the Club bar, with good news – she'd convinced someone to make a large donation to the Foundation. Jack was shocked when Hilary presented him with a check for a million dollars. Hilary grinned and asked if he was glad he'd kept her around. Jack stated that it was starting to look like the smartest move he and Neil ever made. In the dining area, Neil asked Devon why Hilary and Jack were so happy. Devon told Neil about the donor, then Charlie, Matty, and Lily walked up. The kids had received an A on their family tree project, so Lily had them thank Neil for helping out. Lily encouraged Neil to try and reconnect with his parents. Hilary walked over, just as Neil claimed he'd made his peace with not having his parents in his life. Hilary said she thought the story was more complicated than Neil was letting on.

Devon took the kids up to Dive Bar. Jack walked over, then Neil told Lily about Hilary securing the large donation. Lily gave Hilary a backhanded compliment about it. Neil and Jack went off to discuss allocating the funds. Lily suspected that Hilary knew something about Neil's parents. At first, Hilary claimed she didn't know anything, but she soon admitted that Neil had pushed his parents out of his life. Lily tensed and asked if Hilary was calling her father a liar. Hilary took Lily upstairs and showed her a letter addressed to Neil from his mother. Neil's mother said she wanted to hear from him and hoped he'd forgive her. Hilary also gave Lily several sealed envelopes sent by her grandmother; some were addressed to Neil, and others to Devon, Moses and the twins. Somehow Neil's mother had been keeping tabs on the family. According to Hilary, the letters arrived while she was married to Neil, but he'd thrown them out. Lily accused Hilary of saving the letters in hopes of using them against the family, but Hilary said she saved them because she thought Neil might regret throwing them away. Hilary told Lily to keep the letters.

Jack said he knew Neil had his doubts about Hilary, but now that they had the check, Jack was glad Neil voted to keep Hilary on the board. Neil hoped, for Devon's sake, that Hilary had learned from her mistakes. Noting Phyllis's problems with Hilary, Neil hoped that keeping Hilary around hadn't caused trouble for Jack's marriage. Neil said that while a million dollars was a lot of money, a good marriage was priceless. Jack admitted there had been a rough patch, but he said he was determined to be hopeful and that Phyllis was making a real effort. Jack said that Phyllis had accepted Summer's upcoming wedding, and he was sure she'd eventually come around on Hilary too. They shifted gears and discussed Adam. Jack was heartbroken that Adam's life had gone in this direction through no fault of Adam's. Neil was glad Jack had Phyllis at a time like this. Jack encouraged Neil to stop being such a loner and find someone too. Neil said he wasn't alone – he had his family. Neil was grateful that they'd forgiven him and that they all trusted each other again.

Hilary summoned Neil to her suite. Neil was snide with Hilary and assumed she was going to tell him something was wrong with the donation. Hilary revealed that she gave Lily the letters, and Neil snapped that she had no right. Hilary noted that the family was suspicious of Hilary, even though Neil was the one who'd been lying to them all. She said that Neil's family had forgiven him, and she demanded to know why he wouldn't forgive his mother. Neil spat that Hilary lost the right to question him once they got divorced. Hilary insisted that Neil needed to talk to someone because this was eating him alive. She reminded him that she'd dealt with mother issues too. Frustrated, Neil said it wasn't that simple. Hilary suggested that he confide in her since he hated her and didn't care what she thought of him.

Neil explained that his mother had been unhappy and unfaithful, then she suddenly left one day. Neil didn't know if she'd run out on him and his father, or if his father had thrown her out, but his father had been heartbroken. Neil said that his father eventually fell in love with a good woman – Malcolm's mother. Neil's mother had continued to write letters to Neil, but he always threw them away. Hilary suspected that Neil couldn't forgive Hilary's turning to Devon because it reminded him of what his mother had done.

Phyllis reluctantly flipped through some bridal magazines in her office. Victoria arrived. She'd just returned to town, checked in with her kids and came straight to the office. Victoria had gotten tons of phone alerts about Adam, and she asked Phyllis what was going on. Phyllis said that once Victoria was up to speed, she'd probably wish she stayed in Mexico. Phyllis told Victoria about Adam attacking a guard that he'd mistook for Victor. Victoria said she could only imagine how that made Victor feel.

Phyllis explained that Adam fired Michael and appeared not to want a lawyer to represent him at his hearing. Victoria felt bad for Chelsea. They talked about Travis refusing to return to Genoa City and expose Luca. Phyllis said she'd accepted that the wedding was going to happen. Phyllis wondered where Victoria and Travis left things. Victoria said that Travis's life was on his boat, but her life was in Genoa City. Victoria left. Phyllis picked up a bridal magazine and she fantasized about being happily married to Billy. In her daydream, she and Billy danced, then Jack arrived and asked if he could cut in. Phyllis snapped back to reality.

In Brash and Sassy's lab, Cane and Billy discussed their plans for the ad campaign. They'd decided to hire an internet celebrity to promote the line. Billy hoped Jill would agree to it. Cane was sure Jill would be fine with it, but he wondered if Victoria would agree. Billy said she was in Mexico. Just as Cane asked why, they heard squeals coming from the office. Billy and Cane went inside and were disgusted to find Billy's mom and Cane's dad kissing and cuddling on the couch. Jill and Colin were unapologetic about their public display of affection. Colin noted that it wasn't a crime. Billy made a snide comment about his stepfather's criminal past. Jill got offended and told Billy that he should aspire to be the sort of family man that Colin was. Billy snapped that he loved his kids and that he'd spent as much time as possible with them while Victoria was gone. Jill seized on that comment and chided Billy for not giving Victoria a reason to stay in town.

Colin asked if they'd been fighting like this ever since they started working together. Jill contended that she knew what was best for Cane and Billy. Her comment angered Billy, and he announced that he quit. Cane noted that if Billy quit, Cane would become CEO by default, and people would accuse Billy of going back to his old ways. Billy admitted Cane had a good point. Billy said he'd stay if Colin made sure Jill stopped micromanaging Billy's love life. Colin declined, because he felt that Jill's micromanagement was the reason that Billy, Cane and Victoria were working so well together. Colin and Jill had a suggestive conversation about what they planned to do once they arrived at the mansion. Billy told them not to go into his room. Jill asked where Billy was going, and he said anywhere but home. Billy left. Cane grumbled that Jill's management style only encouraged him, Billy and Victoria to fight. Jill was comfortable with the way she was running things, and she said her goals were Cane's success, making money and ensuring Billy's happiness, by any means necessary.

When Victoria got home, Billy was there. He said he'd just put the kids to bed. Billy didn't realize Victoria was back in town. He admitted he'd been planning to sleep over since Colin and Jill took over the Chancellor mansion. Billy grabbed his things, planning to get a room at the Club, but Victoria invited him to stay. Later, Victoria came back downstairs after getting the kids back to sleep. Billy handed her a glass of wine and said he was sure she could use it after her trip to Mexico. Billy explained that Phyllis told him where Victoria went. Billy said that it had occurred to him that Victoria might decide to sail away with Travis. Victoria admitted she thought about it, but she couldn't. Billy said that he would have watched the kids and covered for her at work. Billy suspected that Victoria didn't go because she feared starting a new relationship.

“Falling in love is the most dangerous thing you could ever do,” Billy added. Victoria suspected that Billy had found someone special who meant as much to him as Travis meant to her. Billy said it didn't matter since nothing lasts forever, including his relationship with Victoria. Victoria told him that you couldn't check your feelings like you check your luggage. Billy asked if she slept with Travis. Victoria said she did, but she regretted it. She didn't think she'd been fair to sleep with him, since she did it because she hoped it would convince him to come back to town. Billy didn't think she should feel bad since Travis had hoped sleeping with her would keep her on the boat. Victoria supposed Billy was right. She said it was late, so she was going to get Billy a blanket for the couch, then go to bed. Victoria came back downstairs with blankets and pillows, but Billy was gone.

Cane ran into his kids at Dive Bar, and they chatted briefly before Devon took the twins to get ice cream. The kids spotted Lily and yelled hi to her as they ran by. Lily told Cane that Neil had been lying to them again. Devon brought the twins back – they were cold, so Cane took them to change out of their swimsuits. Lily gave Devon the stack of letters. Later Cane returned, after Devon left. Lily told Cane about the letters. He pointed out the return address on the envelope and suggested that Lily get in contact with her grandmother.

Back in Hilary's suite, Neil snapped that she should focus on work and making Devon happy and stop digging into the past. Hilary argued they couldn't move forward until Neil forgave her for cheating, the way his mother did. Devon walked in and overheard Neil telling Hilary to drop it. Devon stated that Hilary was just trying to help. Devon told Neil that he knew about the letters, and he asked what they meant. Neil insisted that they leave the past in the past, then he left

Colin and Jill went to the now restored Chancellor mansion. Jill was disappointed that Colin hadn't commented on the renovations. Colin noted that everything looked the same, but Jill said it was hard work to put things back to the way they were. She thought Katherine would approve. Colin agreed, but he didn't think Katherine would like Jill's scheming. “All I'm trying to do is encourage your son and find happiness for mine,” Jill said. Colin didn't buy it. Jill suggested going up to the bedroom, but Colin wouldn't let her dodge his question. He asked Jill why she'd uprooted herself from their life in Chicago and bought a company and taken over a home in Genoa City. Jill said she loved Colin, but she needed to stay in town right now. Colin suspected that Jill found something big and was exploiting it. He urged her to let him in on her plan.

Jack was pleasantly surprised when Phyllis arrived at the Club, but then he noticed she was upset. He assumed it was about Summer's wedding. Phyllis said she hated it, but she was resigned to it. Jack convinced Phyllis to put all that aside and dance with him, even though there was no music and pretend she was a new bride. Phyllis flashed back to her daydream about dancing with Billy, and she pulled away from Jack. Jack asked why she pulled back, and Phyllis said she was just self conscious due to the lack of music. Phyllis admitted that she wished she was a bride again – she wished they could start over and undo all the mistakes. Jack held Phyllis close and said she was still his bride, then he kissed her.
