Lily is burned out at work. At least all is well with the family. Hilary makes her dad happy, and Devon has a new woman. Despite her own troubles, she wants Cane to be happy and encourages him to return to the corporate world if that’s what he wants. He should watch his back around the likes of Joe Clark and Victor, though. He will. For now, he’s to escort Neil to a doctor appointment.

In the club foyer, Hilary tells Devon she isn’t trying for a baby with Neil. Devon is sorry for doubting her. They need to get away together. He suggests a few days at a swanky spa in Chicago. She returns to the table, where Neil confronts her. Why does she still have birth control pills in her bag?

At the ranch, Victor is unhappy with Joe. He failed to push through the sale of the Crimson Lights property and revealed Victor as the seller. He’ll handle take it from here.

Avery and Dylan rejoice at Crimson Lights. A feasibility study has halted the property sale.

Summer and Austin work out at the gym. She’s looking forward to starting college classes soon, even though she hasn’t any idea what she wants to do with her life. Austin is proud of her in any case; in fact, she inspired him to resume his career as a cameraman. He got a job shooting a commercial. He doesn’t know much more than that, but it’s supposedly for the good of the city.

Phyllis raises hell in the suite that Kelly allegedly lured Jack to. Kelly says it was Phyllis who set her up. The three of them go over the details: the roses, which are significant to Jack and Kelly, and the card and room key that were delivered to Jack. Jack decides to investigate.

Hilary thinks fast. She usually kept an extra pack of pills in her bag. She just forgot to discard them. Neil suspects something more. She’s not ready to get pregnant and that’s OK. He’s sorry for pushing her. Hilary is stressed and could use a break. She’s been thinking about getting away, alone, for a few days. She casually mentions a spa she’d like to visit. Just the ticket, he says. Book it. Little does he know, Devon already has.

Austin points out his new boss to Summer—Joe Clark. Summer gives him the lowdown on Joe and the sale of the coffeehouse. When Summer leaves for her spin class with Avery, Austin approaches Joe.

Victor looms over Dylan at Crimson Lights and tosses an offer on the table, making it clear that he doesn’t give a damn about Dylan’s happiness, only Nikki’s. Dylan senses he has the upper hand and says no thanks. Victor thinks he’s a fool. His refusal could hurt Avery. Is that a threat? No, he meant hurt her reputation. She’s a superior lawyer wasting her time on his case. When Dylan turns down the offer a second time, Victor wishes him a nice day and stalks out.

Phyllis drags Jack to the suite she booked for the two of them. It was supposed to be a surprise. (Was it ever!) Phyllis is sure that Kelly is trying to turn Jack against her. He denies it.

Back at the office, Kelly complains to Lily about Phyllis’s setup. Lily seems harassed and unsympathetic. Kelly is confident that Jack loves her.

Meanwhile, Jack pledges his love to Phyllis and assures her that Kelly poses no threat. Phyllis being Phyllis won’t rest until she exposes Kelly’s machinations. They head for the front desk.

Summer tells Avery about Austin’s new job and who hired him. She’s wanted him to get a new job, away from the bar and specifically away from Mariah. Avery sees no harm.

Cane is eager to hear what the doctor thinks of Neil’s progress. The bits of light he’s been seeing are promising, but the doctor needs to run tests. In the meantime, Cane is to say nothing, including to Hilary and Lily.

Devon and Hilary are good to go, but she has second thoughts. An employee delivers a gift bag to Devon, containing a bottle of massage oil. From Hilary? No. The card is from Gwen. What a mess, Hilary says. Devon promises to end things with Gwen. Lily approaches as he wonders aloud whether he made a mistake about “the hotel.” She fears he regrets purchasing the club. No, no. They were discussing the spa hotel that Hilary is headed to. It sounds wonderful to Lily, and she invites herself to come along.

At the club door, Phyllis and Jack question the clerk on duty about the suite rental. Lily and Kelly approach before he answers: A woman, he doesn’t know who, called to arrange it. Phyllis is sure he’s covering for his coworker. Jack again tells her it doesn’t matter. He loves her and intends to marry her. Kelly provides Jack a phone number to call that will prove her innocence.

Avery confronts Joe in the gym and asks why he hired Austin, knowing his connection to her family. He was just giving the kid a break. Avery doesn’t buy it. Joe insists he’s not the bad guy she thinks he is. Then he can prove it by ending his collaboration with Victor. At the club door, she runs into Victor himself. The real-estate sale isn’t personal, just business, he says.

Dylan is pumped about the blocked sale and agrees over the phone to meet a friend to celebrate. He turns to see two masked burglars on the other side of the counter. A struggle ensues and Dylan winds up unconscious on the floor.

Phyllis catches up with Jack at the bar. Well, what did he find out? That Phyllis ordered the roses.
