At Crimson Lights, Dylan dispatches protesters to the athletic club. He’s irritable, even with Avery. She announces that she wants to get married right away.

Joe dresses in his club suite and talks to someone on the phone about finding permanent digs in Genoa City. It looks as though he’ll be sticking around.

Lily frets to Cane about the gathering crowd outside the club. Jill and Colin agree. Cane will take care of it. Jill confronts Victor and criticizes his support of the redevelopment project. Nikki can’t be happy, since her son’s business is at stake, and Katherine would have disapproved of it in addition to his running Chancellor Industries into the ground. He denies doing so but promises to return the company to its former glory. He tells her to have a nice day and turns on his heel. Jill rejoins Colin and pledges to fight for Katherine’s legacy.

Nikki appears at the police station to recruit Paul’s help. If Dylan loses his business, he might decide to leave Genoa City.

Mariah complains to Austin about serving the rich and spoiled at the Underground. It’s better than unemployment. She sneers. Summer sure has domesticated him. He takes offense.

Summer comes to Jack’s house looking for her mom, but she’s not there. He’ll do. She asks his advice regarding her future. Victor would gladly find a spot for her at his company, but she doesn’t want any more handouts. Jack understands; he felt the same at his family business. His solution was to go to school so that he had qualifications beyond his last name. Summer is insecure. She doesn’t know where her talents lie. Jack bolsters her confidence and thinks Phyllis will be pleased with her decision. She could use a boost right now.

Kelly arrives at Jack’s office to find that Phyllis summoned her there, not Jack. They argue about which of them is the more desperate regarding Jack. Kelly has been warned: Phyllis isn’t playing games.

When Avery says “get married now,” she means tonight or tomorrow. Dylan refuses, thinking that Joe is the reason for her rush.

Kevin wonders aloud about Joe’s integrity. Paul had similar doubts, so he conducted a background check, which turned up nothing suspicious. Well, then, why is his client so bashful? He or she should come forward. Paul, Nikki, and Kevin agree that the seller must be scum. Alone, Nikki thanks Paul for concealing her relapse from her family. Past stresses drove her back to the bottle, but she’s back on the program now, attending meetings and looking for a new sponsor. Paul hopes so.

Austin understands firsthand Mariah’s feelings about rich vs. poor. He also went through his first holiday season with the super-rich. It felt good to be part of a loving family, though. She reluctantly agrees. The right person can change one’s mindset, he says, referring to Summer. Like Kevin could do for Mariah. She bristles. Summer arrives to tell Austin her plans.

Kelly denies undermining Phyllis and Jack’s relationship, but Phyllis won’t let go. She dwells on their identical attire on New Year’s Eve, accusing Kelly of orchestrating it. She doesn’t stop there: Kelly was nothing more than “a port in a storm” for Jack. He never loved her. She flashes her engagement ring. *This* is real, she says. Kelly gives as good as she gets, suggesting that Jack’s proposal was guilt motivated. If Phyllis is so sure of Jack’s love, why is she so threatened by Kelly? Perhaps because Kelly slept with Phyllis’s man, in his bed. . . .

Joe teases Jill about her presence at his party. She says she’s there to revel in his defeat. Not going to happen. He stalks away. Lily also wonders why Jill is there. Honestly, it’s to keep an eye on that snake Joe, which Lily can appreciate. Jill then criticizes Victor’s leadership at Chancellor Industries. She’d love a shot at running it. Cane feels likewise. Lily suggests they put their heads together.

OK, maybe Joe spurred Avery, but she wants to marry Dylan ASAP because she loves him and can’t wait to be his wife. She’ll wait if he wants to, though. He gives in. He doesn’t want to wait either. They celebrate with a big kiss.

Paul leaves the station to control the crowd at the club. Kevin continues his online search for the property seller’s identity.

Kelly isn’t the master manipulator. That would be Phyllis, witness her crashing of Nick and Sharon’s wedding and her attempt to force Kelly to plan Jack and Phyllis’s engagement party. Jack approaches his office and hears the commotion inside. He hears a slap and a scream and enters to find Kelly with her hand on her cheek. Phyllis hit her!

Kevin comes to Crimson Lights with bad news for Dylan. Victor is the seller of the property. Dylan is at first stunned then angry. He pounds the table and makes tracks for the club, with Avery in tow. Kevin heads to the Underground, hoping for an encouraging word from Mariah. It’s not to be. She’s in a foul mood.

Austin loves the idea of Summer going to school and allays her fears about not having much time for each other if she does.

Phyllis says Kelly faked the slap to gain Jack’s sympathy, but Jack is more concerned about the text Phyllis sent from his phone to lure Kelly to the office.

Joe begins his presentation at the club, detailing the amenities of the new development. Dylan marches up to Victor, who stands at the bar next to Nikki, and exposes him as the seller. He’s been lying to everyone. Victor denies the accusations, but when Nikki openly questions him about it, he says it’s business and no one can stop it.

Kevin wonders what’s become of Mariah. There’s no sign of her anywhere in the bar. She’s placing flowers on Cassie’s grave in honor of their birthday.

Phyllis panics when Jack sympathizes with Kelly, who’s endured untold losses. He assures Phyllis that he loves her, but she shouldn’t push her luck.
