Victor speaks privately with Phyllis at the Abbott home. He takes full credit for her recovery, and now she owes him. She’s cagey about what she remembers of his visit to the clinic. He showed her a photo of Sharon. Yes, Victor knows that the two of them share knowledge that is potentially damaging to Nick.

Summer and Austin meet at the athletic club, where Austin is now working in the gym. Summer gets a call from Jack. Victor is at the house and they have a “situation.” She’s to come tout de suite.

Dylan begs Detective Harding to release him from jail so that he can show him the trapdoor at the club, where Nikki could be in danger.

Paul overhears Maureen at Nikki’s suite door. She has the vodka. Nikki gets rid of her. She turns to Paul to explain, but there’s no time now. He just received a text: Dylan spotted Ian inside the club.

Michael gets little information from his doctor’s receptionist, just that the doctor wants to see him in person, today.

Ashley arrives at the house and wonders why Victor’s car is there. Jack says he’s having a chat with Phyllis, which is troubling in itself, but his real problem is the document he holds—a consent form, signed by Summer, to subject Phyllis to experimental treatment. Jack suspects forgery. Meanwhile, in the next room, Phyllis wants details from Victor. She’s reluctant to participate in his scheme if it means alienating Nick. He guarantees her clean hands.

Summer is justifiably worried. Victor and Jack together always means trouble. Knowing this, Austin insists on accompanying her. She agrees, but in order to spare her mother further stress, they’re not to mention their marriage or to say anything about Kelly living with Jack.

Ashley interrupts before Phyllis can reply to Victor’s demand. Phyllis scoffs at Ashley’s pleasantries. They were never allies. In fact, she recalls that Ashley tried to keep Phyllis and Jack apart. Well, a lot’s changed, Ashley says. Victor moves to leave, but Jack wants him to stay.

Nikki answers another knock at the door. This time it’s Ian. He decided to show up early to avoid her trap, but he miscalculated. Paul leaps from behind the door with his gun drawn and Dylan and Harding block Ian’s exit. Paul arrests Ian and reads him his rights. After Ian is hauled off to jail. Paul and Dylan assure Nikki that he’s out of her life for good. Not yet, she counters.

Avery is already on edge at the office when her ex-husband, Joe, appears. He was unaware that the attorney he was to meet, Michael, was Avery’s partner. Cane referred him. Avery is suspicious but doesn’t object to his consultation with Michael, assuming it’s a one-shot deal. But it’s not, and Michael welcomes Joe’s business. After Michael leaves for his appointment, Avery asks Joe what his game is.

When Summer and Austin arrive at the Abbotts’, Victor again sings his own praises for bringing Phyllis out of her coma. Jack reveals the signed document and asks him to explain it to Summer. And while he’s at it, he can tell them about the art grant that got Daniel out of the country while the experimental treatment took place. Summer looks closely at the paper and announces that she signed it all right, but she was tricked into thinking it was a trust fund document.

At the police station, Nikki insists on confronting Ian. Paul and Dylan discourage it but don’t prevent her. She sneers at Ian and tells him he no longer has power over her. Ian laughs and pokes fun at her new family consisting of her, Paul, and Dylan, noting Victor’s absence.

Phyllis wants to know why Summer was trying to access her trust fund, but Summer ignores her. Victor focuses on Phyllis’s recovery (thanks to him) and wonders aloud why Jack didn’t go to any great lengths to search for a cure.

Joe continues to plead ignorance about Avery’s partnership with Michael, but she doubts it. He mentioned seeing an announcement on the Internet. Really, it was a coincidence, but Joe isn’t sorry that he bumped into her again.

Ian explains with glee that Dylan was the perfect scapegoat to pin a murder on—so full of rage. After more taunting and insults, Paul takes pleasure in walking Ian to his cell. Before he close the door, Ian tells Paul that nothing is ever completely over.

Phyllis concedes that she’s grateful for Victor’s intervention, but she’s upset that he manipulated her daughter. Jack agrees that the ends do not justify the means. Did Victor consider dangerous side effects? Phyllis assures Summer, who becomes alarmed at the thought, that she’s experiencing none. Jack orders Victor leave and Ashley sees him to the door. When she returns to the group, she asks Phyllis how she likes her new son-in-law, Austin. Summer gasps.

Joe is concerned about Avery, with Dylan locked up and in trouble. She dismisses his concern and becomes defensive about Dylan. She intends to stand by him. Like she stood by Joe? he asks.

At the club, Victor recalls his last conversation with Nikki about her fragile health. He attempts to call her again and leaves a message. Maureen, seated nearby at the bar, overhears and offers her help. She knows where Nikki is.

Phyllis is frustrated and wants to know what else being withheld from her. She decides that Summer and Austin will get an annulment, but Summer disagrees vigorously and flees. Austin goes after her. Jack attempts to calm Phyllis, and Ashley apologizes for unintentionally causing strife. Alone, Jack further stuns Phyllis when he tells her that Summer and Austin eloped. Noticing her escalating distress, he assures her that he did everything he could to help her regain consciousness. She doesn’t doubt him. Jack tells her about Victor’s search for specific piece of information, which, of course, Phyllis is already aware of. Apparently she and Sharon are the only two who have it. Somewhat absently, Phyllis says it’s a convenient thing for Sharon to have forgotten, leading Jack to think Phyllis remembers. She backs off, though, saying that she’s overwhelmed. Jack agrees to table the discussion just as Austin appears, wanting to speak privately with Phyllis. He loves Summer and would do anything for her. Prove it, Phyllis says. In the dining room, Jack marvels at Phyllis’s strength. Is she strong enough to learn about Jack’s other woman? Ashley asks.

At the doctor’s office, Michael is jovial until the doctor tells him that his PSA levels are abnormal. Cancer? Michael asks.

Phyllis wants Austin to tell her everything that happened in her absence. When he hesitates, she asks for his phone in order to search the Internet, just as Summer predicted she would. Summer reappears to rescue Austin. No need, Phyllis says. She and Austin have come to an understanding.

Avery ends her discussion with Joe by insincerely wishing him luck with his business. She opens her office door to find Dylan and is elated that he’s free. After they embrace, Joe extends his hand to Dylan, calling him by name. Dylan is at a loss.

In Paul’s office, Nikki breathes a sigh of relief and then moves toward the door. He stops her, recalling her buddy with the vodka bottle at the club, and asks whether she’s started drinking again.
