Days of Our Lives Update Wednesday 12/30/20

Philip remains in the living room of the Kiriakis Mansion holding his two tickets to the DiMera New Year's Eve Party. Maggie walks in and questions why he looks mad to be holding them. Philip says that he's not. Maggie asks who he is taking to the party. Philip says it turns out, no one.

Brady invites Chloe to the DiMera New Year's Eve party with him. Chloe responds that she doesn't know she wants Kristen to find out that she was going out with her man while she's in prison. Brady says they would just be going as friends and he doesn't think Kristen would have a problem with it. Brady insists they go and have fun. Brady thinks they deserve a little fun after everything that has happened this year. Chloe then agrees to go with him.

Jennifer is at home holding the hourglass that Jack gave her for Christmas. Will then shows up at the door with presents and wishes her a Happy New Year. Will notes that Jennifer was hoping someone else was at the door.

Kate tells Jack that she's sorry that Jennifer is not going to the New Year's Eve party. Jack says it will be a long time before Jennifer forgives him for sleeping with Kate, if she ever does.

Jake claims to Abigail that he has no idea what she's talking about in regards to him and Kate. Abigail declares that she's talking about the fact that Jake and Kate are sleeping together.

Gwen admits to Chad that she didn't throw the bracelet away but Jake took it back. Chad questions why he would do that. Gwen guesses he had second thoughts about spending so much money on her. Chad asks what exactly Jake said. Gwen tells him that Jake said the bracelet wasn't for her and he wanted to give it to the person that he bought it for. Chad guesses that Jake bought it for Abigail. Gwen tells Chad that she's sorry then turns away with a smile. Chad says he knew it.

Jennifer tells Will that she was just taken back but it's a really nice surprise. Will says since he couldn't make it on Christmas Eve, he figured he would bring gifts by. Jennifer tells him that she had something for him, Sonny, and Arianna as well but she mailed it to them in Arizona. Will calls it something to look forward to. Will notices the hourglass and asks if that was a present too. Jennifer confirms that Jack gave her that. Will asks if she and Jack don't have any big plans for New Year's Eve. Jennifer responds that she doesn't have any plans at all. Will tells her that he's sorry as he heard what happened with Jack and Kate. Jennifer says so did a room full of people.

Kate repeats to Jack that she's really sorry and asks when he last talked to Jennifer. Jack says he went to visit her with a present on Christmas Eve. Kate asks if he got her a necklace or a bracelet. Jack tells her that he got her an hourglass with a note which Kate mocks. Jack explains that the note was to explain the meaning of the hourglass. Jack says he wished he could turn back time which Kate laughs at. Kate encourages Jack that Jennifer accepting his gift is progress. Kate asks what Jennifer said when she opened it. Jack doesn't know because he wasn't there when she opened it so he guesses she didn't like it. Jack suggests Jennifer could have just thrown it away like she has thrown away their marriage.

Abigail explains to Jake how she realized there's another person in the DiMera Mansion with a name that starts with a "J". Jake jokes about her being a detective. Abigail asks Jake to confirm or deny the allegation. Jake then admits to Abigail that he and Kate are sleeping together and asks what's it to her.

Gwen tells Chad that Jake going after Abigail doesn't mean Abigail will respond. Chad brings up how they overheard Jake telling Abigail that he didn't want to make him more suspicious than he already was. Gwen suggests that could've been completely innocent. Chad argues that it's not just about that as he found Abigail's head in his lap and her scarf in his work room. Gwen says Abigail could've just gone to talk to him. Chad argues that nobody is telling him the whole story just like when he heard Jake tell Gwen to keep her mouth shut. Chad says that there was something he didn't want him to know but Gwen covered saying it was about DiMera so he asks her what he was really saying.

Brady and Chloe arrive at the DiMera New Year's Eve party and join Abigail and Jake in the room. Brady and Chloe are shocked by Jake due to his resemblance to Stefan. Abigail introduces them to Jake as Stefan's twin brother. Brady says it's nice to meet him and jokes that living in Salem, they should be used to this kind of thing. Brady asks where Chad is. Abigail says he's not there yet and guesses he's dealing with work stuff. Chloe tells Abigail that she gave her tickets to Philip and asks if he's there yet.

Philip offers Maggie the tickets but she declines her and Victor going to the DiMera party. Philip guesses it wouldn't be too much fun for them and says it's probably best to stay home and watch the ball drop. Maggie invites him to join them at home but Philip doesn't want to be a third wheel. Maggie encourages that Victor would love it but there's bound to be a number of single ladies at the party so she suggests he go solo.

Jennifer tells Will how awful it was to be celebrating her marriage and then walking away from it. Will brings up the times he thought that he and Sonny were through and there was no way back but now they are good. Jennifer admits Abigail has been telling her the same thing and wants her to go to the DiMera party tonight where Jack will be. Jennifer thinks Abigail is just trying to shove them back together and she doesn't think that will work. Will responds that she'll never know unless she goes.

Kate tells Jack that Jennifer is being unreasonable, arguing that Jack didn't know if Jennifer would wake up from the coma. Jack states that she may have been in a coma but she was still his wife. Kate says Jack was tested and had one weak moment, questioning how long Jennifer will hold that against him. Kate feels Jack didn't lie to Jennifer, he just didn't tell her something that would hurt her deeply as there was nothing to gain from it. Kate declares that Jennifer is judgmental, unforgiving, and self-righteous. Kate feels bad and responsible for Jack's suffering because there is nothing she can do because of Jennifer. Jack decides he just wants to go to the party, have a great time, and act like his life doesn't suck. Kate agrees and Jack exits. Kate then remarks that next year will have to be a lot better than this.

Abigail tells Brady and Chloe to enjoy the party as they walk on. Abigail tells Jake that she doesn't appreciate him talking about Chad like that in front of her friends. Abigail asks him how long he and Kate have been going on. Jake informs her that it started the night of Abigail's party with her parents since Kate was in a bad place and one thing led to another. Abigail says what they do is their business so she questions why it's a big secret. Jake explains that it's because Chad hates him and Kate knows he would feel betrayed that she was sleeping with the enemy.

Chad says that when Jake claimed he overheard him talking about taking his rightful place at DiMera, Gwen backed him up. Chad asks if it's true that it's what he wanted her to keep quiet about. Gwen thinks back to that conversation being about Jake and Kate. Gwen then claims to Chad that the conversation was about the fact that she had seen Jake and Abigail kissing.

Brady goes to get Chloe a drink. Philip then arrives at the party.

Jennifer tells Will that she's just confused as part of her wants to take another chance with Jack while another part of her is terrified of being devastated. Will points out that going to the party doesn't mean they are back together and she doesn't have to stay until midnight. Will understands Jennifer not being thrilled about another party. Jennifer points out it's pretty much the same guests. Will says that Jennifer said she walked away from her marriage so that means she can walk back, if she wants to, because there is nothing stopping her. Will wishes Jennifer a Happy New Year as he then exits the house.

Philip greets Chloe. Chloe asks about Sarah. Philip says it turns out he might have misjudged that whole thing. Chloe jokes about him overestimating his charm. Philip explains that Sarah wasn't ready to jump into another relationship. Philip questions what Chloe is doing here anyways since she gave him her tickets. Chloe informs him that she was given a spare. Philip says that's great so he doesn't have to ring in the New Year alone. Brady then returns with their drinks and greets Philip. Philip questions Chloe being with Brady which she confirms. Jake tells Abigail now that she knows the truth about he and Kate, he doesn't like asking her to keep things from her husband but Kate really doesn't want Chad to find out. Abigail says no since Chad thinks Jake is after her and she thinks the best way to remedy that is to tell the truth as soon as possible.

Chad questions Gwen seeing Jake kissing Abigail and not saying anything to him. Gwen tells Chad that she's really sorry but that Jake threatened her and he carries through with his threats. Gwen adds that Jake was in the mob so she thought he would hurt her after their breakup. Chad says he won't let that happen. Gwen claims she thought Abigail would wake up and see who Jake really is. Gwen declares that she kept her mouth shut because she did not want to be responsible for breaking up his marriage.

Will goes to the Kiriakis Mansion to see Maggie. Maggie tells him that she and Victor are just having a quiet dinner at home for New Year's. Will tells her that he is headed back to Arizona tomorrow which she is sorry to hear but she's glad he came briefly. Maggie says it's too bad Sonny couldn't join him. Will says Sonny is overwhelmed with work but he will try to visit early in the year. Maggie asks what Will is doing tonight. Will says he has no plans as he hoped to ring in the New Year with Sonny but he's in Arizona. Maggie feels that shouldn't prevent him from being with him and says it won't as she tells him to wait here.

Chad can't believe what he's heard and declares he's going to kill Jake as he leaves Gwen's room.

Abigail tells Jake that Chad should be here by now. Jake questions telling Chad tonight. Abigail admits that she's not thrilled Chad thinks she would throw away their marriage for Jake but she knows the longer she waits, the worse it will get. Abigail decides she's going home to tell Chad as soon as possible. Jake decides he's going with her because he promised Kate that Chad would never find out so he has his own damage control to do. Philip questions how Kristen would feel about Brady being out on the town while she's celebrating the new year in prison. Brady thinks Kristen would understand that he appreciates spending time with his friends which is what Chloe is. Chloe tells Philip that it's always fun chatting with him. Jack and Kate arrive at the party. Jack grabs two glasses of champagne and they toast to a Happy New Year. Jennifer then arrives at the party. Jack goes to greet Jennifer but she says she shouldn't have come. Jack clarifies that he and Kate are not together and they only shared a ride so he asks her not to go. Jack points out that Jennifer came, knowing that he would be there, so he asks her to stay and bring in the New Year together.

Maggie brings Will her laptop so that he can video chat Sonny and they can ring in the New Year together. Maggie exits the room to give him some privacy. Will connects with Sonny and says he was going to wait until later but figures they could do it now since Maggie was pleased by the idea and she was concerned about them not ringing in the New Year together. Will jokes that he didn't have the heart to tell Maggie that they video chat every day. Sonny says it was kind of him to let Maggie think it was her idea. Will asks how it's going over there. Sonny says it's good and just busy working while missing him. Will tells him that he will be home in less than 21 hours. Sonny pulls out his new year's resolution box and reads his resolution from 2012 which said "Get Will to fall in love with me".

Abigail and Jake go to the living room of the DiMera Mansion looking for Chad but he's not there so Abigail decides to go check upstairs.

Chad and Gwen go to the New Year's Eve Party. Chad asks Brady and Chloe if they have seen Abigail or Jake. Brady says they were there while Chloe says she just saw them leave together. Chad takes a drink and asks Gwen where the hell they could have gone. Gwen looks down so Chad questions what she knows that she's not saying. Gwen claims to Chad that she heard Abigail booking a room at the Salem Inn before. Chad questions her not thinking he should know that. Gwen claims she thought it was for them but Chad says that's obviously not what she had in mind. Chad then storms out while Gwen smiles. Kate goes to get a drink while Jack tells Jennifer that he can't believe she's here and repeats that she looks beautiful. Jennifer admits she almost didn't come. Jack asks what changed her mind. Jennifer responds that he did. Philip goes over to Kate and asks if the drink is helping. Kate says it's not hurting and asks him if something is wrong. Philip says he just didn't expect to be alone tonight. Kate feels the same. Jack questions Jennifer saying he changed her mind. Jennifer says she was looking at the hourglass and thinking of all the hours they spent apart. Jennifer doesn't want to lose any more time with him. Jennifer declares that the new year could be a new beginning for them. Jennifer then tells Jack that she forgives him.

Sonny tells Will that his 2014 resolution was to marry Will and reads another one that said find a way to forgive Will so they could be together again. Sonny recalls that there was nothing to forgive since what happened to his mom wasn't his fault. Will talks about Sonny never giving up on them. Sonny assures that he never will. Will says he will see him tomorrow and he can't wait. Sonny says he planned a fancy dinner for them. Will says they've only been in Arizona for a few months but it already feels like home. Sonny feels at home where ever they are. Will can't wait to see what the new year brings. Sonny then reveals a paper with his resolution for next year and says he will tell him what it said in a year.

Abigail and Jake can't find Chad at the DiMera Mansion. Jake mentions that he checked the garage and Chad's car is gone so maybe he went to the party. Jake decides he's heading back to the party to warn Kate and invites Abigail to come with him but Abigail thinks she and Chad need to talk in private. Jake says he will let her know if Chad turns up as he then exits.

Chad and Gwen go to the Salem Inn. Chad storms into the room where it has the romantic setup that Gwen secretly arranged using Abigail's name. Chad sets his phone down and begins searching the room for Abigail. Chad's phone then rings with a call from Abigail. Gwen sees it but ignores it while Chad is searching the room and then she puts it on silent. Chad concludes that Abigail is not here at least not yet. Gwen suggests maybe it's all a big misunderstanding. Chad tells her that Abigail ordered the reservation with the roses and champagne while she and Jake left the party together so they are on there way here. Chad declares he will be right here waiting for them. Chad wonders where the hell they are. Abigail tries calling Chad again so Gwen covers his phone with a magazine on the table. Gwen suggests maybe they decided not to come which Chad laughs at and guesses they figured out he was onto them. Chad drinks from the champagne bottle and continues laughing.

Kate tells Philip that she's going out to get some air and exits where she finds Jake. Kate asks where he's been. They then hear the countdown to midnight beginning inside.

Chad tells Gwen that it's almost midnight.

Brady and Chloe countdown together while Philip looks on.

Will and Sonny count down together with champagne over video chat.

Jennifer and Jack kiss at midnight. Brady and Chloe share a kiss as well. Philip finishes his drink.

Jake and Kate watch the fireworks together outside.

Chad looks out the window at the fireworks.

Jake and Kate then kiss.

Will and Sonny wish each other a Happy New Year and drink their champagne.

Jake and Kate continue kissing.

Chad staggers from drinking the bottle of champagne. Gwen goes over and wishes him a Happy New Year then kisses him.

Abigail calls Chad again, leaving a message that she's been trying to reach him all night and she's not really sure where he is. Abigail wishes him a Happy New Year and hangs up.

Gwen apologizes for kissing Chad and says she shouldn't have done that but Chad then kisses her back.
