Claire walks past the Brady Pub and calls Belle to see if she wants to have dinner. Belle tells her that she's sorry but she's working on John's case and has to file a motion in the morning. Claire decides she'll just bring her home some dessert then and hangs up. Claire guesses she's eating alone then but Charlie then appears and offers to join her. Claire says she would love that so they head inside together.

Xander informs Sarah that Ava Vitali is alive and back in Salem. Sarah questions who Ava is. Xander can't believe it. Sarah asks who she is. Xander shows his tablet to Sarah. Sarah then reveals that Ava is "Angela Vandercamp", the woman she saw Philip with. Xander is shocked to learn they are the same person and that Philip is working with Ava Vitali.

Ava makes a call, leaving a message that they need to answer their phone and to call her because they need to talk about Tripp. Philip then shows up at her door. Ava says she was expecting her son.

Allie runs in to Tripp in the town square. Tripp brings up Allie facing charges for pulling a gun on him. Allie informs him that the district attorney is not pressing charges since it's too hard to prove. Tripp tells her that he's glad they are letting it go and suggests maybe now they can do the same thing and move on from this. Allie questions if he's trying to say this makes them even.

Steve and Kayla bring Joey home. Kayla tells him how happy she is that he's back. Joey says he is too and that it doesn't seem real. Kayla thinks they just have to give it some time. Joey talks about time going by slowly while he was away but now he can't believe how quickly it's going by. Kayla encourages that now they have all the time in the world. They talk about when Joey was a kid. Kayla hugs him and declares this nightmare is finally over.

Xander tells Sarah that this explains a lot. Sarah questions who Ava Vitali is. Xander calls it a long story.

Philip tells Ava how surprised he was to see her picture on the front page of the paper since they agreed that she would lay low. Ava says her son needed him because Allie was about to shoot him.

Joey says he's sorry if he's being weird since he spent so much time alone or with strangers so he feels awkward being around other people that he loves. Kayla tells him it's understandable as she hugs him again and tells him that she loves him so much. Steve hugs Joey and says he's so grateful to have him back. Joey tells them he's grateful to be back. Kayla talks about this all happening so suddenly so they will take it slow. Steve knows there's a bunch of people who want to see him but they'll just stick with family otherwise. Joey agrees and says that's them and Tripp.

Allie argues that what she did to Tripp is nothing compared to what he did to her. Tripp insists that he didn't do anything to her. Allie talks about being raped and how different her life is now so she can't just move on like nothing happened. Allie adds that she won't let Tripp move on with his life either. Tripp questions what that means. Allie tells him that he will find out as she walks away.

Charlie tells Claire that dinner is on him so she can have whatever she wants. They talk about what to eat on the menu. Charlie comments on Claire's negotiating skills. Claire reminds him that her mom is one of the best lawyers in Salem...

Allie goes to see Belle. Belle assumes she's here to check on John's case but Allie tells her that Marlena already filled her in on that. Belle asks what's on her mind otherwise as she can tell something is bothering her. Allie tells her that she's been having a really hard time with the criminal case against Tripp falling through. Belle asks if there's anything she can do to help. Allie tells her that there might be another way to get justice as she wants to sue Tripp in civil court and take him for everything he has.

Philip thinks it's hypocritical of Ava to judge Allie after everything she has done. Philip thinks Allie showed restraint in not shooting Tripp. Ava argues that Tripp didn't do what he's accused of. Philip questions that. Ava warns Philip about provoking her. Philip says they are business partners and she violated one of their main agreements. Philip adds that now that she's in the media, he wants to make sure what they are doing stays private. Ava repeats that she came forward for Tripp and she's trying to form a relationship with him so she wouldn't tell anyone that Philip is laundering money for her through Titan.

Xander tells Sarah that when he was working with Kristen, she had all these people that Dr. Rolf had hidden away in storage rooms and one of those people was Ava Vitali. Xander informs Sarah that Kristen sent Dr. Rolf to the hospital as soon as she heard that Joey smothered her.

Steve informs Joey that Tripp won't be home tonight as he just found out that his mother is alive so he wants to get to know her. Joey jokes that all he has to do is read her criminal record but acknowledges that she is his mother. Joey feels there is something they aren't telling him. Tripp then shows up at the door. Joey and Tripp hug. Tripp tells him it's good to see him while Kayla looks on uncomfortably.

Claire asks Charlie how things are at Titan. Charlie thinks back to Philip catching him spying on him for Xander and instructing him to keep him posted on everything Xander does then to Xander asking him to continue playing Philip for him. Charlie tells Claire that he's still caught between Xander and Philip and the situation has gotten more complicated. Claire comments that when dealing with a Kiriakis, nothing is ever simple. Claire asks what happened but Charlie wants to skip the details as they begin eating their food. Claire jokes about them sharing their food like an old married couple. Charlie thinks it would be nice for them to be a couple. Claire asks if he is asking her to be his girlfriend which Charlie confirms that he is.

Allie explains to Belle that Kate gave her the idea to make Tripp pay in a civil case. Belle confirms that is an option. Allie understands if she doesn't want to do this because of what Sami did. Belle says that everyone in responsible for their own actions, including Tripp.

Joey says this is great since his parents just told him that Tripp wouldn't be home. Tripp says he just came by to grab his stuff and offers to come back later. Joey asks why he wouldn't just stay and if this is about Ava. Joey argues that Tripp had nothing to do with that. Tripp tells Joey that it's not about Ava as Kayla doesn't want him in their house which Joey questions. Tripp then informs Joey that Kayla thinks he's a rapist.

Philip complains about Ava not taking this seriously. Ava wants him to leave and thinks he's overreacting. Ava says people knowing she's alive doesn't change their business relationship at all. Philip questions taking her word for that and asks how he knows she hasn't told Tripp what they are doing. Ava assures that Tripp has no interest in the family business. Ava says he doesn't have to worry about Tripp but she does have to worry about him not handling Xander.

Sarah questions Xander knowing Ava was alive. Xander explains that he didn't think Ava survived when the warehouse burned down. Sarah points out that everyone else did but she doesn't understand why Kristen cared about Ava. Xander says they were friends in Italy as they had a lot in common. Xander guesses that's why Ava visited Kristen in prison. Sarah says that still doesn't explain Ava's connection to Philip. Xander tells Sarah that he appreciates everything she's done so far but from this point on, she's out.

Claire tells Charlie that she's always been willing to take a chance if her heart tells her it's the right thing to do. Charlie asks what her heart tells her to do about him. Claire responds that her heart feels affection for him then worries that it sounded lame. Claire says she meant caring, attraction, and wanting to be close to him. Claire adds that her mind tells her that he's a really nice guy and until recently, she didn't think she deserved that but now she thinks it's okay for her to accept the good things that come her way. Claire calls Charlie a very good thing. Charlie asks if this means she is his girlfriend now which Claire confirms.

Philip tells Ava that Xander might not be a problem anymore. Philip talks about catching Charlie on his computer. Ava mentions waiting for an important call. Philip explains that he convinced Charlie to be on his side and tell Xander that he couldn't find anything on him.

Sarah argues against Xander saying she's out. Xander warns that Ava is a very bad woman and bad things happen to people who get in her way. Sarah says she's not afraid of her but Xander worries that she should be because she's a mafia princess and has kidnapped half the town. Xander calls Ava a sociopath and he doesn't know why she has teamed up with Philip. Xander brings up that if Ava is back in Salem, it has to have something to do with Steve.

Tripp apologizes for spoiling the night. Steve says he didn't spoil anything and he's glad he got to see Joey. Tripp tells Joey that he's so glad he's back but he's going to grab his stuff and get out. Joey wants to know what's going on. Tripp says Kayla can tell him but Joey wants to hear it from Tripp. Kayla tells Tripp to go ahead. Tripp then informs Joey that his cousin Allie accused him of raping her but he didn't do it. Joey questions Kayla not believing him. Tripp brings up the DNA test saying he is the baby's father but insists that he's not as he never slept with Allie. Tripp knows the evidence is against him but swears to Joey that he did not rape Allie.

Belle goes over with Allie that they would sue for assault, battery, and emotional harm. Belle adds that in civil court, the burden of proof is a lot less than in criminal court. Belle thinks Tripp's credibility is damaged since they have the DNA test. Belle believes Allie would at least get child support or at most, a substantial judgment in her favor. Allie asks if she should go ahead and sue him. Belle clarifies that as her lawyer, she thinks she has a strong case but as someone who loves her, she asks Allie if she's sure she wants to do this. Allie tells Belle that more than anything, she just wants Tripp to pay for what he did. Belle wants Allie to be clear about what this lawsuit will do to her since they will make her relive everything that happened that in detail and in public while Tripp's lawyers will do anything they can to decimate her character. Allie says she knows that. Belle adds that they will drag out the proceedings for as long as possible and make her go over and over every detail, hoping she breaks on the stand. Belle questions if she really wants to put herself through that.

Tripp tells Joey to just give him a call and they'll go haev a beer. Steve offers to help Tripp with his things but Tripp says he can handle it. Joey stops Tripp and tells him that he believes him. Joey gets why Kayla believes Allie but argues that Tripp is his brother, he's family, so Joey wants Tripp to stay and have dinner with them.

Claire brings up that Charlie knows so much about her compared to what she knows about him. Claire asks about Charlie's family. Charlie says there isn't much to tell and goes over being raised by his dad in Philadelphia. Charlie adds that he has a brother but they are not in touch. Claire asks if he's staying in Salem for Christmas. Charlie doesn't know yet. Claire thinks he should and can spend time with her family. Charlie gets a text but says it's just work and that Claire is way more important..

Ava asks if Philip is sure he can trust Charlie. Philip remarks that he's not the sharpest knife in the drawer to begin with. Philip adds that he wouldn't find anything anyways since he always covers his tracks. Ava questions if he thinks Xander will just give up and quit. Philip assures that he still has to get Xander fired. Philip notes that right now he's waiting for Xander to find out the last move he made and says that when he does, he's going to blow sky high, do something really stupid, and Victor will have no choice but to fire him.

Sarah argues that Xander is not getting rid of her as they are in this together. Xander declares that he's made up his mind and she's not going to change it. Sarah guesses he doesn't want to hear all that she came to tell him about her progress with Philip which Xander questions. Sarah informs Xander that Philip saw her leaving the Salem Inn last night but she covered and then Philip kissed her, which infuriates Xander.

Claire and Charlie leave the Brady Pub. She thanks him for dinner and he kisses her. Claire then points out that he didn't give her an answer about Christmas. Charlie says if there's mistletoe then he's there. They say goodnight and kiss as Charlie then walks away.

Xander says he will kill Philip. Sarah warns him that Philip is playing him and expecting him to act that way so Victor will fire him and he will win. Xander guesses she is right. Sarah jokes that she always is.

Ava tells Philip that she doesn't give a damn how he handles Xander as she just wants her money laundered and she would hate to have to call in his debt because their collection department can be brutal. Philip tells her not to worry and just to make sure her new maternal instincts don't screw up their business. Ava tells him that Tripp is moving in and she doesn't want him knowing about the business so she tells Philip not to come back. Philip says he'll keep in touch and exits. Ava then checks her phone, wondering why she hasn't gotten her call back.

Kayla decides that Joey is right as no matter what she thinks about what Tripp has done, Tripp is family and should be there. Steve tells Kayla that he loves her. Kayla says she loves him too and goes to work on dinner. Steve says this is great to have his two sons at family dinner. Joey feels lucky and is glad Tripp is staying. Tripp hugs Joey and says he wanted to be there for him.

Allie tells Belle that she knows it will be hard but she feels she has no choice as she can't let Tripp get away with what he did and she doesn't know if she could live with herself without doing everything to make sure he pays. Allie decides to let his lawyers take their best shot but she's not going to back down or break. Belle agrees to do this and hugs Allie. Claire then comes in and asks if Allie is okay. Allie tells her that Tripp is going to pay for what he did and Belle is going to help make that happen.

Tripp and Joey talk while Steve thanks Kayla for cutting Tripp some slack and letting them have some time together. Kayla points out that she did it for Steve and Joey, not Tripp.

Sarah thinks she's proven that Xander still needs her to find out what Philip is up to. Xander agrees that she's right again and now they know who Philip is working with and who they are dealing with as they look at the article on Ava.

Tripp calls Ava, who asks where he is. Tripp informs her that he went to get his stuff but they asked him to stay for dinner because it's Joey's homecoming celebration. Tripp asks if that's okay. Ava says of course and tells him to have fun. Ava looks over at the dinner setup she had arranged and tells Tripp that they will have plenty of family dinners and she'll see him soon as they hang up. Charlie then shows up at Ava's door and says he got her messages that said they need to talk so here he is...
