Lani goes to visit Kristen in prison. Kristen gets emotional and hugs her, saying she's been thinking about her non stop. Kristen notes that Lani has been crying and asks her what's wrong. Lani informs her that she found out about Eli forcing her to sacrifice her freedom for hers. Lani tells her that she's so sorry. Kristen says it's not her fault. Lani agrees and says it's Eli's fault.

Abe and Eli go to Julie's Place where Julie goes on about planning Lani's baby shower. Eli tells her that he appreciates all she did but he doesn't think Lani will want him at her baby shower which Julie questions.

Claire asks Shawn what he thinks of Charlie. Shawn says he's alright but he feels nobody is good enough for her so Claire settles with alright. John tells Marlena that he finally gets to walk his daughter down the aisle which he never thought would happen since he missed Belle and Shawn's last wedding. Marlena is sorry that Stefano prevented him from being there. Marlena says that was a lovely ceremony and flashes back to Belle and Shawn's first wedding. Shawn gets a text that Belle is parking the car so Claire calls for everyone to get in their places and John calls for the wedding to get started. John steps outside to walk Belle in. John walks down the aisle to Shawn but when they remove the veil, it's Jan Spears instead of Belle, leaving everyone in the room shocked. Jan asks if Shawn was expecting someone else. Shawn questions what she thinks she is doing. Jan responds that she is marrying her handsome groom. Shawn asks where Belle is while John questions what the hell she did to her daughter. Jan tells John that Belle is fine but she won't be for long if he doesn't behave himself. Brady pulls out his phone but Jan sees him and warns that if he makes that call, his sister will be a dead woman. Jan forces everyone to hand over their phones. John asks Marlena why they are giving in to Jan's crazy demands. Marlena worries that Jan is mentally unbalanced and they don't know what she has done to Belle so they have to play along to keep Belle safe. John argues that they don't even know if Belle is safe. Claire wants to know that her mom is okay. Shawn adds that they won't take her word for it. Jan shows them a photo on her phone of Belle tied up and says now they can all shut up about it so they can get on with the ceremony. Shawn argues that she can't think they are going through with this but Jan declares that she's finally going to be Mrs. Shawn Douglas Brady or else they will all be singing the blues for Belle. Shawn calls her a psychopath and declares that he wouldn't marry her even if he had a gun pointed at his head. Jan remarks that she can't point her gun at him because her gun is trained at Belle right now. Marlena realizes that means Jan doesn't have a gun on her now. Jan says she couldn't bring her gun with her as it didn't go with her dress so she left it with a trusted friend. Jan warns that if anyone attempts to leave the room or call for help, it will be Belle's funeral. Claire tells Jan that she thought they were friends. Jan calls her the best friend she's ever had and says she's better than Nicole, who tried to talk her in to murdering Victor. Claire talks about understanding Jan and everything she's been through. Jan calls her a kindred spirit and talks about Claire being her maid of honor. Claire cries that she's worried about her mom. Jan assures that she's fine. Claire asks where Belle is. Jan thought she could count on Claire to be happy for her. Claire says she wants her to be happy. Jan claims Claire is the reason she made it this far since she told her about Belle getting ready at the Salem Inn where she paid her a little visit and now here she is. Claire realizes that's why Jan insisted on her going to see Charlie so she could get rid of her. Jan admits that and says it worked out perfectly for both of them since Claire is with Charlie and she's about to marry the man of her dreams. Claire gets now why Belle was so weird at the Salem Inn and wouldn't let her into the room. Jan confirms she was in there with a gun to Belle's back. Claire argues that Jan told her that she wasn't interested in Shawn anymore. Jan tells her that she's sorry but she lied as she will never accept that Shawn and Belle belong together. Jan declares that Shawn is hers now and forever.

Eli explains to Julie how Lani threw him out of the apartment so for now he's staying with Abe. Julie can't believe it but isn't surprised since whenever she tries to have an event for the family, it always ends in disaster. Abe assures it's not her fault. Julie clarifies that she's not blaming herself but says Lani kicking Eli out weeks before the twins are due is not acceptable. Eli knows she's upset but pleads with her not to go off on Lani. Julie says she's talking about Eli.

Kristen doesn't want Lani to be angry with Eli. Lani reveals she already kicked him out of the apartment. Kristen argues that Eli was in an impossible position and she was going to prison no matter what so if she hadn't taken the fall, they both would be behind bars now. Lani argues that she was talking to Melinda while Eli was pressuring Kristen to confess. Lani swears that Melinda was about to drop the charges and then Kristen admitted to stabbing Victor. Kristen says she was overwhelmed and didn't hear what she was saying. Lani argues that if Eli wouldn't have gone off on his own and would have trusted and respected her, then Kristen wouldn't be here now. Lani declares that Brady, Kristen, and Rachel would be together and this whole nightmare would be over.

Marlena tells Jan that it's her job to make sure the bride has everything she dreamed of so she asks if they can talk privately about the ceremony. Charlie sits with Claire and says he's so sorry she is dealing with this. Claire says her parents warned her about Jan but she stupidly believed they were bonding. Charlie informs Claire that Xander told her about her mental history but he said he would never judge her and it's obvious she is better. Claire admits she thought Jan was better too but she was wrong. Jan tells Marlena that her day is already less than perfect as she would not have picked this dress, the crowd is thin and she really had her heart set on a destination wedding other than Marlena's living room. Jan supposes the most important thing is that she is marrying Shawn. Marlena argues that Jan knows Shawn was planning to marry Belle today because Shawn loves Belle. Jan argues that Shawn only thinks he loves Belle but Belle has treated him so badly. Jan brings up how many times Belle cheated on Shawn and says she would never take Shawn for granted. Jan says she will show Shawn what true love really means. On the other side of the room, Shawn tells John and Brady that he hopes Marlena can get through to Jan because there is no way in Hell he'd ever marry her. John responds that actually, Shawn will marry Jan which he questions. John tells him that nobody is going to talk Jan out of a fantasy she has obsessed about for two decades so the only way to keep Belle safe is to placate Jan which means Shawn will have to go through with this ceremony. Marlena doesn't think Jan has thought this through and asks what happens after she marries Shawn. Jan says they will go on a honeymoon and live happily ever after. Marlena knows Jan lost years in a coma so she wonders if Jan is hoping to make up for lost time now. Jan tells Marlena that shrinking her is not going to work. John tells Shawn that everybody knows this wedding isn't real or legal so this will just be a stall tactic to rescue Belle and throw Jan in jail then they can have a real wedding. Shawn agrees to do anything to save Belle. Jan asks Shawn if he's ready to tie the knot as she takes his hand.

Kristen argues that they don't even know for sure if Melinda would've dropped the charges and they don't need to talk about what if. Kristen declares that she stabbed Victor and now she's paying the price but she doesn't want Lani to pay too. Lani argues that Kristen is separated from her daughter and it's too much. Kristen doesn't want Lani to worry about her as this is supposed to be the happiest time of her life. Lani questions how to be happy with what her husband did. Kristen encourages that she knows why he did it and that Eli was just protecting her, their family, and future. Kristen questions why she can't understand that. Lani still feels Eli should have come to her so they could have figured out a way together but he lied to her instead and would have continued forever. Lani does not want to live like that. Kristen knows that Lani loves Eli. Lani questions how she can ever trust him.

Julie questions what the hell Eli was thinking since marriage is a partnership so he doesn't make unilateral decisions. Abe argues that Eli's back was against the wall and he had very limited options. Julie disagrees as she has learned the hard way and thought Eli would have too. Julie calls it commendable to protect his family but not at the cost of honesty and trust. Eli knows he really screwed up which Julie agrees with.

John tells Brady that he didn't want to say it to Shawn but him marrying Jan can only temporarily keep Belle safe. John explains that Jan sees Belle as a threat so even if the wedding goes through, nothing will stop Jan from killing Belle when this is over, except for them. Jan asks Claire if she's ready which Claire questions. Shawn informs Claire that they are going through with the wedding. Jan tells Claire that she will be the best stepmother ever and they are already best friends which Claire goes along with. Brady tells John that he's going to find Belle but John says there's not a chance and says he will go. Brady points out which of them has a better chance of sneaking out without Jan noticing so John agrees. Marlena comes over and says she had no luck talking sense into Jan. John tells her about Shawn agreeing to go through with this to keep Belle safe. John asks Marlena to stall and drag the wedding out as long as she can. Marlena asks what he's going to do. John responds that he's not going to do anything but Brady is. Brady tells them to get it going so he will have enough time to find Belle. John wishes him luck. Marlena then announces they are going to start the ceremony while John and Brady move towards the door.

Julie asks Eli what he's going to do about screwing up. Eli says he's not sure what he can do other than give Lani space. Julie remarks that she could come up with a better idea than that. Julie then tells Abe to kick Eli out of his house because he's facilitating Eli and Lani's separation. Julie adds for Abe to make sure Lani hears about it because she's sure she won't want the father of her babies out on the street as she doesn't want to see her great grandbabies born in a broken home. Julie says they need to discuss strategy. Eli says he'd love to listen but he has to get back to the station. Julie asks Eli to promise that he will fix this because nothing is more important. Eli promises to do everything in his power to get Lani to forgive him.

Lani tells Kristen that this problem with Eli is not new as it goes back to when he went behind her back to arrest her. Kristen argues that Eli was doing his job and she thinks Lani would understand that. Lani says she does but they agreed no more secrets since they have broken them so many times in the past. Lani talks about how afraid she was of losing Eli when he was in the hospital and Eli told her it would never happen again. Kristen blames herself for asking Lani to cover for her when she stabbed Victor and if she just took responsibility then Lani would not have been dragged into this. Lani argues that she didn't drag her into anything as she wanted to help. Lani calls Kristen her best friend. Kristen says Eli is Lani's husband and she knows she feels torn. Kristen assures she won't feel betrayed by Lani living a happy life with Eli so she thinks the choice is clear. Lani feels she can't just pick up with Eli and move on as it's not that simple. Kristen tells Lani that Eli loves her and would do anything for her so she asks if Lani loves him that way too.

Marlena begins the wedding ceremony of Jan and Shawn. Marlena asks if anyone objects. Jan points out that nobody dares say a word so she tells Marlena to continue. As Marlena continues, Brady sneaks out of the house. Marlena calls upon Claire for a reading about love. Shawn stops her and says he can't do this.

Julie asks Abe to help her with the guest list for the baby shower. Abe crosses out Eli which Julie questions. Abe says he knows Lani is very stubborn. Julie responds that Abe is just as responsible for this mess as Eli is since he kept the secret from Lani. Abe feels it wasn't his place. Julie argues that he put Eli in an incredible position since Lani begged Abe to fire Melinda Trask. Julie declares that if Abe just did as his daughter asked, none of this would have happened.

Lani tells Kristen that's enough about her own problems as she wants to know how Kristen is doing in prison. Kristen assures that she's fine. Kristen mentions Rachel visiting and that not going well so she thought it'd be better if she didn't see her for awhile. Lani mentions Brady telling her. Kristen tells her that Marlena visited her so she's going to try again with Rachel. Kristen admits that five years in prison sounds like forever but eventually they will get their lives back. Lani admires Marlena's faith. Marlena responds that she has faith in Lani and Eli too. Lani stops her and says she doesn't want to talk about Eli. Kristen asks if Lani knows what she would give to be with her family right now and says Lani could have that if she just forgives Eli. Lani argues that it's not that simple. Kristen says if Lani wants Eli to be her husband and father of her children then she is wasting time that they could be together right now. Kristen adds that if Lani doesn't want that, she may as well walk away and never look back.

Brady finds Eli in the town square and says he needs his help which Eli can't believe. Brady knows Eli is mad at him but says they have to put that all aside because he needs his help saving a life. Brady informs Eli that his sister is in the Salem Inn and she's in trouble.

Jan reminds Shawn that he promised to marry her today, otherwise he knows what will happen to Belle. Marlena encourages Shawn to breathe and they decide to continue so Claire resumes her reading. When Claire reads that "love never fails", Jan remarks that it better not. Marlena thanks Claire and continues the ceremony. Jan says "I do" to marrying Shawn.

Lani tells Kristen that she knows how much she loves Eli but now that she knows what he did to Kristen, she doesn't know if she can ever trust him again. Kristen encourages Lani to forgive Eli. Lani argues that Kristen didn't want to lose five years with her daughter and have her family torn apart but she gave up everything for her. Kristen acknowledges that she went to prison so Lani wouldn't have to and she did it for Lani, Eli, and their babies. Kristen declares that the only thing worse is knowing she did it for nothing. Kristen begs Lani not to let her sacrifice be in vain and to work things out with Eli.

Eli tells Brady that he will call for backup but Brady says they don't have time for that. Eli argues that Brady is not trained for a situation like this and they have no idea what they are going in to. Brady declares he's not going to argue with him as they don't have time so he rushes on in to the Salem Inn.

Marlena asks Shawn if he takes Jan to be his wife. Shawn says "I do."

Julie starts saying that when Doug was mayor, he wouldn't have let this happen. Abe cuts her off and says he's been beating himself up and is sick of this situation so she doesn't have to pile on. Abe tells her to just focus on the future and do what they can to make Eli and Lani move forward. Julie declares that the future is the only thing they can change and they have to do something to get Eli and Lani back together before the babies are born.

Lani tells Kristen that she wants to forgive Eli and have the future they always dreamed of. Kristen says they deserve that. Lani cries that her babies deserve to have two parents who love each other and are devoted to each other. Kristen encourages her to push past the anger. Lani says that forgiving Eli is about what is in her heart and she doesn't know if she can do it.

Eli and Brady go to the room at the Salem Inn and Eli knocks on the door, pretending to be room service.

Jan wants to kiss Shawn but Marlena points out that she hasn't pronounced them husband and wife yet. Jan questions what she's waiting for and then realizes they need to exchange the rings so she asks where they are. Shawn responds that his best man has them. Jan questions who his best man is if it's not John or Charlie. Jan then realizes that someone is missing and asks where the hell is Brady.

Eli and Brady break in to the room at the Salem Inn...
