Abigail declares that now she knows what really happened and reveals Jack's letter to Kate, leaving everyone at the party confused. Jennifer asks to see the letter while Kate questions where she got it. Abigail explains that she went to Kate's room to borrow shoes which Kate questions her doing without asking. Abigail continues that a box fell off the shelf that wasn't filled with shoes but with old letters. Abigail says she was putting the letters back when one of the envelopes caught her eye because the handwriting was her father's. Abigail wondered why Jack wrote Kate a letter while Jennifer was in a coma. Jennifer turns to Jack and says she would be interested to know that too. Kate tells Jennifer that the letter is nothing. Jennifer questions why she saved it then. Kate says it was just a thoughtful letter that Jack wrote her for sending flowers to Jennifer's room. Kate claims she saved it then forgot about it. Abigail accuses Kate of lying, revealing that she read the letter and it wasn't flowers that Jack was thanking her for. Jennifer suggests they go somewhere to talk but Abigail screams at Jennifer not to protect Jack. Jennifer asks what the letter says then. Abigail says that it's so sick and tosses the letter down. Kate tries to pick it up but Jennifer grabs it and opens it. Jennifer turns to Jack and reads the letter out loud where Jack wrote to Kate that he knew this had to end when he woke up in her bed. Gwen watches on as Jack tells Jennifer that the letter is ancient history. Jennifer responds that she doesn't need to read another word to know what they did behind her back. Jennifer then rushes out of Julie's Place. JJ tries to stop Jack but Jack goes after Jennifer. Kate picks up the letter. Steve confronts Kate about putting the moves on his brother while his wife was in a coma. Jake intervenes and argues that no one knows what happened. Steve responds that he's known Kate a lot longer than Jake has and he has a pretty good idea of what happened. Jake tells Steve to leave him alone. Kate thanks Jake but says she can defend herself. Kate questions Steve talking about her while turning a blind eye to the fact that his son raped her granddaughter. Kate and Jake then exit Julie's Place.

Gwen finds Chad in the back and asks where Abigail is. Chad informs her that she's in the bathroom throwing up. Gwen notes that Chad sounds angry. Chad points out that Abigail knows she's not supposed to mix alcohol with her medication. Gwen supposes Abigail forgot since she was so upset. Chad asks if Gwen knows what's in the letter. Gwen thinks that's Abigail's place to tell him. Chad stops her and says if she knows what's going on, he'd like to know. Gwen informs Chad that from what she read in the letter, Jennifer is not the only woman for Jack.

Jack catches up to Jennifer outside and asks to talk but Jennifer doesn't want to hear more lies. Jack argues that he didn't lie to her. Jennifer shouts that he didn't tell her the truth. Jack says he was waiting for the right moment but Jennifer complains that there won't be a right moment to tell her that he slept with another woman while she was in a coma. Jennifer cries that he stood there in front of their friends and family while they told him what a loving and loyal husband he was. Jack wants to explain but Jennifer says it's all in the letter. Jennifer brings up defending him when Eve interrupted their wedding, claiming to be pregnant with his baby. Jennifer cries that she told everybody that their love was so strong that nobody could ever break it or come between them. Jennifer adds that Jack made a liar out of her too. Jack admits he should've told her about Kate the moment she was stronger. Jennifer feels humiliated. Jack declares that he has ruined what they have but she only knows a part. Jack thinks she deserves to know the whole truth if she lets him tell her. Jack tells Jennifer that he was telling the truth that he spent most of every day by her side. Jack brings up the day that Jennifer woke up from her coma but says he didn't tell her about all the other days when she didn't wake up. Jack admits he was afraid she would never open her eyes and he began to lose hope. Jennifer questions him turning to another woman.

Kate goes home to her room and looks at the box of letters. Jake comes in and asks if she's okay. Kate claims she's fine and been through worse but she hates having her privacy invaded. Jake asks if Kate really did the dirty with Abigail's father. Kate responds that it wasn't like that.

Jack tells Jennifer that it wasn't planned and it just happened. Jennifer asks him to define it. Jack admits he kept it secret much too long. Jack brings up that Abigail told him that he would never be able to keep taking care of Jennifer if he didn't take care of himself, so instead of going home alone and getting takeout, he started going to the Brady Pub after hours and he'd hope that Jennifer would open her eyes. Jack states that he never admitted to anyone but deep down, he was afraid Jennifer would never open her eyes. Jack says to comfort himself and ease the pain, he started to drink. Jack flashes back to drinking at the Pub while Kate was working as a waitress there.

Kate explains to Jake how Jack started coming to the Pub every night after visiting with Jennifer and after awhile, he started to open up to her. Kate talks about how Jack was broken and alone, pouring his heart out to her. Kate encouraged Jack about how Lucas came out of his coma and that Jennifer would fight to come back to him too.

Jack explains to Jennifer how Kate was working at the Pub and he was coming there every night so they started talking. Jennifer doesn't want to hear the details of his courtship. Jack says all they talked about was Jennifer and how much he loved her. Jack cries that he admitted to Kate that he was afraid Jennifer would never wake up. Jack thinks back to talking to Kayla at the hospital about hoping Jennifer was coming back to him. Jack recalls waiting for as long as he could until he had to leave and he was in a bad place. Kate worried that Jack was drinking too much so she offered to call him a cab home but Jack says he couldn't spend another night home alone. Jennifer guesses Jack didn't wake up alone which he admitted in his letter. Jennifer asks if Jack spent his days alongside her bed but his nights in Kate's bed.

Chad tells Gwen that Abigail is locked in the bathroom and said she needs space. Gwen blames herself for suggesting she wear a pair of Kate's shoes so if not for her, she never would've found the letter.

Jennifer tells Jack to just tell her what happened since he wrote it all down in his wonderful letter to Kate. Jack informs her that he went upstairs with Kate to her room and he spent one night in her bed.

Kate tells Jake that seeing Jack so scared and alone made it occur to her that she was lonely too. Kate talks about her and Jack making a connection but she didn't realize it until seeing him on her bed.

Jennifer asks if Jack is going to try to tell her that he just laid there and let Kate hold him. Jennifer asks if she should just assume that if they were kissing in bed, that they slept together too. Jack responds that he can't lie to her and admits that he slept with Kate. Jack says the next morning, he woke up alone. Jennifer breaks down crying. Jack talks about the guilt he felt as he recalls leaving the Pub in the morning and got to Jennifer's room where Abigail was waiting. Jack recalls talking to Jennifer about how he screwed up and hoped she would one day forgive him as he then wrote the letter to Kate.

Kate tells Jake how Jack said in the letter that they both know what happened could never happen again and there would be nothing more between them and that it'd be best that they never speak to anyone about the night they shared. Kate adds that Jack never did come in to the Pub again and they managed to avoid each other for awhile. Kate flashes back to running in to Jack in the DiMera Mansion when he and Jennifer first moved in to look after the kids. Kate promised Jack then that no one would ever hear about their night from her, a conversation which Gwen overheard.

Chad tells Gwen not to blame herself because there's no way she could've known the letter was in Kate's closet. Gwen talks about Abigail being so happy about the party but it turned out to be a huge disaster. Gwen says she wishes she was dead now. Chad encourages that she just wanted to make people happy so it's not her fault as he hugs her.

Kate tells Jake that she thought of her and Jack as just two people who came together for a moment out of loneliness and loss and she thought no one would ever get hurt because no one would ever find out until tonight. Jake questions why she hung on to the letter and risked having someone find it. Kate says that it meant something to her.

Jennifer questions Jack sleeping with Kate. Jack says he was afraid he was losing Jennifer one day at a time while Kate was there when he lost his coping. Jack cries that he regrets what he did with every fiber of his being. Jack says the day Jennifer opened her eyes was the happiest day of his life but he had this terrible secret and he promised to tell her when she was ready but there was so much else she needed to know first like Adrienne's death, Will being in prison, and Haley being killed so he didn't want to add to that. Jack says he didn't want to take away Jennifer's happiness just to get his guilt off his back. Jack declares that he didn't tell her that he was lost one night of the whole year of nights that she was gone.

Jake questions why Kate held onto the letter if it was Jack telling her that it was over. Kate asks him to stop cross-examining her. Jake has one more question and asks if Kate is in love with Jack.

JJ joins Chad and Gwen and asks where Abigail is. Chad tells him that she got sick and locked herself in the bathroom. Chad decides to go check on her again. Gwen tells JJ that she's sorry he had to travel halfway around the world for this trainwreck. JJ says he's glad he did because he was missing in action during a really tough year for his family so it's time he stepped up. Chad comes back and reveals that Abigail is gone.

Kate tells Jake that Jack was in a really bad place so she helped him so she felt like a better person while the rest of the world will think of her as a home wrecking bitch. Jake tells Kate that he's not judging her and they lean in for a kiss.

Jennifer thanks Jack for finally telling her the truth and goes to leave. Jack stops her to ask if she can ever forgive him.
