At the police station, Shawn makes a call trying to find out information on the power outage. Shawn worries about the escaped prisoners heading straight to Salem. Shawn declares that nobody is going home until the prisoners are found. Lani enters and comments on Shawn being the acting police commissioner. Shawn says he's just here until Hope gets back. Shawn thanks Lani for coming in. Lani worries about the prison break and says that she and Eli searched everywhere they could think of. Shawn asks if they came up with any leads.

Ben tells Clyde that he envisioned Ciara begging him not to do anything crazy and to move on but he can't move on because she's gone. Ben admits he was heading out to find justice because Vincent needs to pay for what he took from him and Ciara. Eli then knocks on Ben's door, calling for him to open the door because he needs to speak to him about his dad. Clyde instructs Ben to get rid of Eli. Ben warns that Eli is here on a manhunt. Clyde insists that Ben will figure it out. Ben argues that the smart move would've been not breaking out of prison. Clyde points out that Ben did it when he had the chance too. Eli continues knocking and demands Ben open up. Clyde tells Ben that if he gets turned in, they'll add another decade or two to his sentence and he will not survive that. Clyde asks Ben to do him a solid and get rid of Eli.

Gwen continues talking to Abigail about the menu for the party but notes that Abigail is distracted and asks if she's worried about Chad. Abigail notes that it's taking him a long time and wonders if something happened to him...

Dr. Rolf cries over the loss of Stefano. Chad repeats that Stefano is gone and never coming back so there is nothing here for him. Dr. Rolf argues that Chad never appreciated his place in the family or Stefano. Chad remarks that Stefano is probably in Hell. Dr. Rolf hopes he is prepared to join him then. Rolf declares that if Stefano is truly gone then there is nothing for him here except the task of avenging his death as he points his gun at Chad. Chad doesn't think he has thought this through and questions avenging Stefano by killing his son. Dr. Rolf responds that it's exactly what he's going to do.

John answers the door at home to see Belle and asks what she's doing there at this hour.

Lani tells Shawn that she was concerned about Marlena because Orpheus is obsessed with her so that was her first stop but Marlena was fine. Shawn comments that at least Marlena is at home with John but they don't know where Dr. Rolf and Clyde are and they could be a threat to anyone in town. Lani informs him that Eli was heading to the Salem Inn to see if Ben heard from Clyde so they hope Eli is arresting Clyde now.

Ben tells Eli that he's sorry but he was asleep which he questions. Ben says it took him awhile to gather his bearings with the power out. Ben acts surprised to hear about the power outage as Eli informs him of the prison break and that one of the escaped prisoners is Clyde. Eli figured the best place to look for Clyde would be with his son. Eli asks Ben if his dad is there while Clyde is hiding in the room.

Gwen assures Abigail that Chad will find the source of the power outage and fix it. Abigail wonders why it's taking so long and wants to go look for him. Gwen stops her and decides she will go in case Chad comes back or the children come looking for Abigail. Abigail agrees and thanks her so Gwen exits.

Chad asks Dr. Rolf what Stefano would say if he knew that he was planning to pull the trigger. Dr. Rolf argues that Stefano would be pleased to know that he remained loyal unlike Chad, who burned him to a crisp. Chad argues that Stefano treasured family more than anything regardless of any differences they had. Dr. Rolf says that Chad killed Stefano in essence. Chad argues that Stefano is the Phoenix and he will rise again. Chad asks if Dr. Rolf will be ready for that because Stefano will never forgive him for killing his favorite son and he won't stop until he's dead. Chad asks if Dr. Rolf really wants to be on the receiving end of Stefano's wrath. Chad then rushes Dr. Rolf and takes the gun from him. Chad orders Rolf to sit down. Gwen then enters the room. She pretends not to know Dr. Rolf and asks Chad what's going on and who this is. Chad introduces dr. Rolf to Gwen as an old family friend who decided to break out of prison to visit. Chad asks Gwen to call the police but she claims that her phone is dead. Chad asks Gwen to go get his phone from his room then. Gwen informs him that she came to find him because Abigail is worried about him and wants to see that he's alright. Gwen tells Chad to go to his while she keeps an eye on Dr. Rolf. Gwen asks for the gun but Chad feels that's too dangerous. Chad suggests tying Dr. Rolf up and asks Gwen to go get rope from the closet. Gwen claims she doesn't feel safe in the darkness and doesn't have a flashlight. Chad decides to do it and gives Gwen the gun. Chad says he will be back and exits.

Belle apologizes for waking John up but says it's his first night back from the hospital and now there's the blackout. John jokes that he was sleeping like a baby because of all the painkillers Marlena gave him. Belle guesses that's why he didn't answer his phone. John asks if that's why she charged over here. Belle wanted to make sure her parents were okay. John assures that everything is okay. Belle apologizes for waking him up but John insists that he's glad to see her. Belle is surprised she didn't wake Marlena up. John then reveals that Marlena isn't home. Belle questions her leaving him alone. John explains that Marlena went to see Ben because she's been really worried about him.

Ben invites Eli in and says he can see for himself. Eli questions him not hearing a word from his dad. Ben responds that it's not like they were that close. Ben tells Eli that if he doesn't believe him, he can feel free to search the place.

Belle questions John about Marlena going to see Ben in the middle of the night. John explains that Marlena saw him earlier and felt he was off then noted that he didn't call her like she asked so she decided to go check on him again. Belle admits that sounds like Marlena but thought she would still answer the phone when she called. John suggests they could be having a big heart to heart. Belle agrees that makes sense and decides she'll let him get back to bed. John says he's up now so he will just wait for Marlena to come home and he wants her company. Belle agrees to stay and asks John about his hand. John calls it just a scratch. Belle questions him taking painkillers for a scratch. John is more concerned about her because he knows when things aren't right with her. John asks what is weighing her down.

Shawn tries calling Belle but the power outage has the phones screwed up. Lani asks if there's any reason to think Belle is in danger. Shawn points out that Orpheus hates John and Marlena and Belle is their daughter. Shawn adds that Belle is not the only person in danger because these bastards won't stop until they get what they want. Shawn says they need every resource they can get. Lani hopes that Eli is having a better time at tracking down Clyde.

Eli tells Ben that he's going to trust him so he won't search the place. Eli guesses Clyde is already gone with the charges he is facing. Eli tells Ben that he will let the station know he checked in so they won't bother him again tonight. Eli adds that he can only imagine the pain Ben is going through so he tells him to let him know if he needs anything. Eli tells Ben to get some sleep and that he and Lani will see him at the memorial tomorrow. Eli asks Ben to let him know if Clyde reaches out to him. Ben says he can count on it as Eli then exits. Clyde comes out from the back and tells Ben that he made him really proud.

Chad returns to Abigail in their bedroom. Abigail hugs him and says she was so worried about him. Chad apologizes for taking so long and says that something has happened. Chad informs Abigail that they have an unexpected visitor.

Gwen ties Dr. Rolf up. Rolf says it's nice to see her again and that she took his advice of playing the long game. Rolf notes that it's easy to see that Chad trusts her. Gwen assures that nothing has changed. Dr. Rolf compliments her acting skills and says that Chad will never suspect that they were practically best friends. Gwen says they were not best friends. Dr. Rolf says their relationship may have been more transitional but if she helps him, he helps her. Gwen asks how she would help him and warns that Chad could be back any second. Dr. Rolf says he sometimes has troubles keeping his lips zipped so he could tell Chad that Gwen has infiltrated the family with the intention of destroying them from the inside. Dr. Rolf tells Gwen that the solution is to help him escape or else Chad will know all about Gwen's true feelings for Abigail.

Belle offers to make John some herbal tea but John stops her and says that was a good try but he hates herbal tea. John asks her again what's going on. Belle admits that it's Jan Spears as ever since Sami brought her back, Jan is everywhere she goes. Belle says that no matter how much Jan swears that she just wants a second chance, she feels Jan is up to something horrible. John understands why with their history but says at least she and Shawn have each other to lean on. Belle says that's the idea but now that she is representing Philip against Jan's charges, Shawn is not happy with her. Belle tells John that she's worried about Claire because Jan wants to be her new best friend. John calls that twisted. Belle informs him that she came home to find Jan in her house trying to bond with her daughter. Belle says she kicked Jan out and told her to stay away but Claire sees Jan as someone she can relate to as someone with mental struggles who was misunderstood. Belle feels Jan is using that to get close to Claire. John worries that Claire is still fragile so Jan will try to take advantage of her heart. Belle cries that it's why she can't sleep and asks how to protect her child from someone she sees as a victim that can understand her. John encourages that she's not alone. John declares that Jan Spears will have to go through everyone in this family before they ever let her hurt Claire. Belle says no matter how dark it gets, John and Marlena always have a way of making her feel safe.

Abigail questions Chad about Dr. Rolf being there and out of prison. Chad tells her that Gwen is keeping an eye on him downstairs. Abigail questions leaving Gwen with him when he is a maniac. Chad assures that she's fine as he tied Rolf to a chair. Chad makes a call about Dr. Rolf breaking into his house and tells them to get there as soon as they can. Abigail can't believe Rolf escaped prison and asks what he wanted here. Chad says he doesn't know and he'll fill her in later but he has to go back downstairs. Abigail wants to go with him but Chad says with the power out, he has to go open the gate for the police so he wants Abigail to stay in case the kids wake up so they don't walk in on Dr. Rolf. She tells him to be careful. Chad assures that he has everything under control and that the only place Dr. Rolf is going is back to prison as he then exits the room.

Lani finishes a call as Eli enters the police station and tells her there was no sign of Clyde at Ben's. Lani tells him that Marlena hadn't seen Orpheus either. Shawn then comes back and informs them that he just got a call from Chad, who said that Dr. Rolf broke into the DiMera Mansion so he's going to send a unit over there now. Lani offers to go since they already have every unit looking for Orpheus and Clyde. Shawn admits he would hate to take a unit off the street so Lani agrees to go. Eli wants to go with her but Lani insists she can handle a tied up old man and that Shawn could use him at the station searching for the others. Shawn says he won't argue so Lani says she will be back with their prisoner. Eli asks Lani to be careful as she exits the station.

Gwen questions why Chad would believe Dr. Rolf when he just tried to kill him. Dr. Rolf mocks her confidence and says that Abigail is the love of Chad's life so the hint of a threat to her will lead to Chad not resting until he gets the truth. Gwen argues that Chad will never believe she's a threat because she's a nanny to their children and they adore her. Gwen adds that she and Abigail are best friends and as close as can be. Dr. Rolf asks about when Chad finds out that Gwen spiked Abigail's champagne and fried her brain. Rolf adds that he can put the pieces together because he supplied the drug and then Chad will make sure Gwen is behind bars in prison. Gwen tells Dr. Rolf that if he tells Chad, she will convince him easily that Dr. Rolf is making it up to save himself. Dr. Rolf admits the story is wild but points out that the prison has cameras which will prove Gwen came to visit him and asks how she will explain that to Chad. Rolf asks Gwen to cut the rope and set him free. Gwen suggests she should cut his throat. Dr. Rolf asks if she really thinks she's prepared to take a life. Gwen responds that he might be surprised.

John tells Belle that it means the world to him to know that they make her feel safe. Belle says that's a parent's job and they are experts at it unlike her. John asks why she says that. Belle says Claire is doing well now but she wonders how long that will last. John asks if she's worried about a relapse. Belle admits she worries about that constantly even though she should feel grateful about all the progress she's made. Belle says it just torments her that Claire suffered as much as she did and hurt people. Belle can't shake the terrible memories of things Claire has done and blames herself and Shawn since they raised her. Belle talks about Claire being a sweet little girl who seemed so happy and normal. Belle wonders if they put too much pressure on her. John tells Belle that the human psyche is a complicated thing as kids can still experience these mental disorders. Belle says she knows and just needs to accept that no matter how much love and support you give someone, it doesn't guarantee they won't have problems like Claire. John is glad Claire is doing so well now and credits Belle and Shawn for that. John encourages that their love and support played a huge role in Claire's recovery. Belle thanks him and hopes Claire continues to gain the confidence she needs to keep Jan Spears away from her. John hugs Belle as she cries.

Clyde tells Ben that he did the right thing and he appreciates it. Clyde says it means a lot that he put himself on the line like that considering all the ups and downs they have had. Ben points out that this doesn't mean he's safe since every cop in Salem is looking for him. Clyde responds that he is getting out of here. Clyde says he would tell him where he's going but Ben says it's probably better if he doesn't. Clyde then asks if Ben wants to come along.

Lani goes to the DiMera Mansion. Chad thanks her for coming so fast and brings her to the living room but finds Gwen laid out on the floor and Dr. Rolf is gone. Chad checks on Gwen. She asks what happened. Lani says that's what they were about to ask her. Lani wants to call an ambulance but Gwen says not to because she doesn't want to be an emergency room during a blackout. Chad worries that she could have a concussion or worse. Gwen assures that she just needs a good night sleep. Lani asks what happened with Dr Rolf. Gwen tells Chad that she's sorry as he gave her one job and she messed it up. Chad says it's not her fault and asks what happened. Gwen claims she doesn't know as one minute he was tied up and the next he was loose and he attacked her then ran off. Lani asks if she has any idea where he went. Lani decides she'll check the house and post a unit outside. Chad thanks her and hopes he hasn't gotten too far away. Lani assures they will find him. Lani tells Gwen to take care as she exits. Gwen apologizes to Chad. Chad tells her it's his fault for leaving her alone with Dr. Rolf. Chad notes that he tied the rope himself so he has no idea how Dr. Rolf could've gotten out of it. Gwen shows Chad the knife. Chad says it was on the desk so it was nowhere near him. Gwen guesses he got it before Chad tied him up. Chad feels it doesn't make any sense but guesses that's the only explanation. Chad takes a look at the rope and questions Gwen not seeing him cutting through it. Gwen blames the lights being out. Abigail comes in and asks what happened. Gwen says she's fine. Abigail asks if the police took Dr. Rolf away but Chad says not exactly.

Belle tells John that she will go get more candles. John suggests Belle go home and sleep. Belle wanted to wait until Marlena gets home and thinks she should be there by now. John is sure she got caught up with Ben and will be home any minute now. John says he'll wait for her while Belle needs sleep. Belle says she will rest easier thanks to him. John says he loves her as they hug. Belle then exits. John picks up his phone.

Ben questions coming with Clyde. Clyde asks why not. Ben tells him that Salem is his home which Clyde questions. Clyde knows Ben had big dreams of a new life and new family but that's all changed with Ciara and Jordan dead so he's all the family he's got. Clyde asks Ben why not come on the run with him.

Eli finishes a call at the station and says there's no sign of Clyde or Orpheus. Lani returns to the station and reveals to Eli that Dr. Rolf got away.

Abigail makes tea for Gwen and says she was afraid something like this would happen. Gwen insists it's alright but Abigail worries that Gwen could have been seriously hurt. Chad wonders how he didn't see Rolf get the knife to cut the rope.

Clyde points out that Ben didn't say no. Ben thanks him but says he will pass. Clyde questions what Ben has to stick around for, pointing out that people will never accept him and he'll just be crying at his dead wife's grave. Ben picks up the gun and tells Clyde that it's for revenge.

John wonders where Marlena is and tries to call her but it goes to voicemail. John leaves a message saying he's checking in to see how it's going with Ben and to call him back when she gets it as he's starting to worry.

Belle goes home and calls Shawn, saying she saw that he called but there was no message. Belle is sure he's at the station but hopes he's on his way home soon. Belle says to call when he gets this and hangs up. Belle hopes Shawn gets home soon as it's spooky and dark and she's alone. Jan Spears then enters and tells Belle that she's not alone.
