At the Kiriakis Mansion, Sarah lights candles and prepares glasses of wine as she is expecting Xander when she hears the front door but instead Philip walks into the room.

Marlena and Kayla go to John's hospital room but find that he is gone. Marlena doesn't know where he is but has a bad feeling about it. Kayla suggests he got tired of waiting and went home. Marlena says maybe but he heard the news about Tripp and was quite upset. Marlena mentions how volatile he can be right now.

Tripp complains to Steve that this can't be happening as he should be working on his med school transfer and not trying to defend himself over something he didn't even do that happened a year ago. Tripp wonders why Allie is doing this. There's a knock at the door and Tripp says he doesn't want to talk. Steve says it could be Justin so he answers the door but it's John. John then walks in and punches Tripp down. Steve questions what John is doing. John responds that he's giving Tripp a little of what he deserves for what he did to his granddaughter.

Charlie goes to the Brady Pub but finds that it is closed. He starts to walk away when Claire approaches and calls out to him. Charlie asks how she is. Claire says she's had better days. Charlie relates and says he spent all day at Titan then finally gets a break and the Pub is closed. Claire informs him that she could go in and get him a sandwich but Charlie says he's good. Charlie says he's not that hungry and just wanted to get out of the office. Claire suggests they sit and talk if he wants company. Charlie says he definitely wants her company.

Philip informs Sarah that Xander is back at the office, trying to outwork him and prove to Victor that he's the better worker. Sarah notes that the job is very important to Xander. Philip says it is to him as well. Philip adds that he's glad to have a moment alone with Sarah because he owes her an apology.

Steve holds John back from Tripp and tells him he's supposed to be at the hospital. John argues that Allie told him what Tripp did to her and he's come to set him straight. Steve says this isn't John and blames his short fuse. John says that Tripp ruined Allie's life but Tripp swears he didn't. Steve tells John that he has it all wrong. John questions Steve defending him. Steve tells him that Tripp didn't do anything to Allie. John asks if Steve is calling his granddaughter a liar now. John tries to fight with Steve as Kayla and Marlena walk in.

Charlie asks Claire why her day sucked. Claire says she spent it finalizing plans for a memorial service which is why the Pub is closed, because they are setting it up for tomorrow. Charlie remembers her saying she had a death in the family. Claire says Ciara was technically her aunt but more like a cousin and a best friend. Claire talks about sitting here with her dad earlier and seeing memories of Ciara everywhere they look. Claire can't believe she's gone. Charlie tells her that he's so sorry.

Sarah asks why Philip is apologizing her. Philip explains that he asked Maggie to convince Victor to fire Xander because he just assumed that Maggie hated him after all the terrible things he'd done, especially to Sarah. Philip brings up Xander letting Sarah fall in love with someone else's baby. Philip relates to raising Claire for the first year of her life until a DNA test proved she wasn't his. Philip says he was furious that so many people who loved him kept the truth from him. Philip talks about Xander handing Sarah a baby that wasn't hers, knowing her baby had died, and that's a whole other level of wrong. Philip questions how she forgives someone for hurting her like that.

Nicole tells Allie that she's glad that she told John and Marlena what happened. Allie responds that pretty much all of Salem knows by now. Henry wakes up crying so Nicole asks if Allie wants to check on him or if she should. Allie wants Nicole to do it. Nicole asks if Allie is avoiding her son. Allie says she's not and tells her to just say if she wants her to take care of him. Nicole stops her and says it's okay as she's got him.

Kayla checks on Steve. Steve says he's fine but John hit Tripp. Marlena questions what John is thinking. John responds that he had it coming since he raped their granddaughter and Steve is defending him. Steve calls John out of control. John calls Tripp a sexual predator and questions having him in the house. John tries to bring Kayla into it but Marlena rushes him out the door as John shouts that he's not letting this go. Tripp apologizes to Steve. Steve assures that it's not his fault since he didn't do anything wrong.

Sarah explains to Philip that Xander switched the babies because he was trying to protect her from going through the pain of losing a child. Sarah says that Xander truly tried to do what he thought was the right thing. Philip brings up Xander encouraging Jan to send the cops after him. Sarah points out that Xander urged her to drop the charges against him. Philip notes that Jan refuses to do that. Sarah says she's sorry and adds that she didn't like Xander using Jan as a weapon against him in their weird battle over Titan. Sarah feels that Xander called Jan off because he realized he didn't have to go that low. Sarah says the Xander she loves is better than that. Philip brings up how Victor fired Xander for that stunt with Jan then turned around and gave him his job back. Sarah explains that Victor is giving Xander one more chance to make things work with Philip. Sarah asks Philip to try to get along with Xander. Philip claims that he will. Sarah asks if he means that. Philip responds that it's what Victor wants and he realizes it's what is best for the company. Sarah then gets a text from Xander, saying he's stuck at work and won't be home for dinner. Sarah mentions making all this food so she asks Philip to join her so the food doesn't go to waste. Philip agrees, takes the bottle of wine, and follows Sarah to the kitchen.

Charlie comments that Claire must have been really close with Ciara. Claire tells him that their relationship was complicated as they loved each other but were competitive with each other. Claire adds that when they got older, she got really jealous of Ciara to the point where she did some things she's not proud of. Charlie says they've all been there. Claire says this was pretty extreme but ultimately Ciara forgave her even after she hurt her so badly. Claire wanted to make it up to her and prove she could be a true friend but now it's too late. Charlie responds that Ciara might be gone, but she hasn't lost the chance to prove she's a true friend. Charlie encourages that she's doing it by bringing together everybody who loved Ciara to remember and honor her. Charlie is sure that everybody there tomorrow will appreciate that very much. Claire thanks him.

Marlena brings John back to the hospital and tells him that everything is set for his release. John admits he shouldn't have taken off like that but after Allie told them what Tripp did to her, he just exploded. John says he just wanted to talk to Steve about his son but there he was so he just went in to a rage and had to hurt Tripp for Allie. John asks if Marlena thinks it's all because of the aneurysm.

Tripp knows he didn't do anything wrong but he still feels bad because John is Steve's best friend and he's been sick. Steve says that was part of it as John's been having issues like this ever since but once he recovers, he'll realize going off on him was totally uncalled for. Tripp complains that Allie has the rest of town thinking he raped her. Kayla points out that there's an easy way to resolve all of this with a DNA test.

Charlie is glad he ran in to Claire. Claire jokes that she didn't spill anything on his shirt this time. Charlie calls it a memorable first meeting but admits he wasn't sure he was going to see her again since she didn't call him after he gave her his card. Claire apologizes but Charlie understands she has a lot going on. Charlie remembers her mentioning that she learned something really disturbing about her ex-boyfriend. Claire responds that disturbing doesn't even begin to describe it

Allie tells Nicole that she's reading too much into this but then admits that she's not wrong. Allie says Nicole has been beyond generous and she doesn't mean to take advantage of that but it's really hard for her to be around Henry right now. Allie adds that she's been having thoughts that she's too scared to say out loud. Nicole encourages that she can talk to her so Allie admits that she's been thinking about why she didn't have an abortion. Nicole calls that a huge decision and she's sure she was confused and scared. Allie says she had friends in London to go out with but no one she could really talk to so she just went in to denial which Nicole questions. Allie explains that back then she didn't remember what Tripp had done to her, so when she missed a few period she told herself it was stress then thought she was just sick but it wouldn't go away. Allie says she finally took a pregnancy test and was still in denial, hoping that the tests were wrong until she finally couldn't be in denial anymore. Nicole notes that by then it was too late. Allie says she could've done something still but she didn't. Allie says she thought about seeing a doctor but didn't want to tell anyone that she got wasted and hooked up with some guy because she was too ashamed. Nicole asks if it's possible that some part of her wanted to have this baby.

Kayla explains that a DNA test would prove if Tripp and Allie's baby are related. Tripp responds that he already told her that they are not. Kayla points out that a test would just prove that. Tripp questions if she doesn't believe him then. Kayla says that Allie is her niece and John is Steve's best friend so a DNA test would put everybody's questions to rest. Kayla adds that if Tripp is telling the truth, he shouldn't have any problem with it. Tripp questions her saying if. Kayla says that agreeing to the test would just make things easier for him as he wouldn't have the confrontations with Allie or John and it would put this whole thing to rest. Kayla adds that she has the kit in her bag and could take a sample right now but Tripp says he will pass and walks out of the house.

Sarah and Philip come back to the living room after dinner. Sarah talks about having no idea Philip had his own record label while Philip says he didn't know Sarah was touring with her sister. Philip wants Sarah to sing but Sarah declines. Philip says this is one of the nicest evenings he's had since coming back to town. They agree that eating alone is no fun. Philip comments that he enjoys the company of a beautiful woman and jokes that he will get her to sing for him one of these days. Sarah asks if Philip has someone special. Philip responds that he's a bit lonely. Sarah asks if it's hard having Belle around with their history. Philip calls it ancient history and says Belle is with Shawn now so that door is closed for good. Sarah asks if there is anyone else. Philip thought he had something with Chloe in New York but that didn't pan out. Sarah encourages him that his person is out there somewhere. Philip thanks her and admits he's been using his CEO fight as a distraction to all this loneliness. Philip talks about not having a wife, kids, or his own home which he wants. Philip is not sure someone wants that with him. Sarah responds that any woman would be very lucky to have him as Xander then walks in and asks if that's a fact. Xander questions what all this is. Philip says it's nothing and they just had dinner. Xander grabs Philip, causing him to spill his wine on Sarah. Xander warns Philip to stop hitting on his girl or he will start hitting him repeatedly. Sarah explains that Xander said he was going to be late so Philip was just keeping her company. Sarah tells Xander to apologize now but he refuses. Sarah tells Philip that she's sorry and leaves to go get the wine stain out. Xander then goes after Sarah. Philip remarks to himself that it worked like a charm...

John tells Marlena that times he's blown up at people before, he knew at the moment it was happening that he wasn't acting like himself and he felt lousy about that but punching Tripp, he knew exactly what he was doing and had zero regrets. Marlena tells him that fighting doesn't solve anything and she's sure she and Kayla agree on that. John brings up that Tripp hurt their granddaughter and he shouldn't be allowed to get away with that. John is sure Marlena and Kayla would both agree on that too.

Kayla asks Steve why Tripp reacted the way he did. Steve explains that Tripp noticed before that Steve said he was on his side, but Kayla didn't, and he already thought she didn't believe him. Steve thinks Tripp is just hurt that Kayla suggested a DNA test. Kayla suggests maybe Tripp has something to hide. Kayla knows how much Steve loves Tripp but even he has to admit that it looks like he's avoiding the one thing that could prove he's innocent. Steve responds that he has an idea.

Allie tells Nicole that maybe part of her did want the baby but she knows she wasn't prepared to raise him so she looked for parents to give him a loving, stable home. Allie says she tried but Sami kept screwing things up and she couldn't take it anymore so she ran away. Allie adds that she only came back because she didn't want Sami raising her son as she wanted Nicole and Eric to have him. Nicole points out that it worked out. Nicole knows she's disappointed that Eric is in Africa and can't help but they are doing a pretty good job. Allie says that Nicole is, but she's not. Allie thinks Nicole is right that ever since she remembered how Henry was conceived, she can hardly look at him because it just reminds her of that horrible night with Tripp.

Charlie can't believe Claire's ex could do something like that. Claire says she saw Tripp right before she found out and it was awkward because they hadn't seen each other in a long time and she didn't even know he was back in town. Claire says even though they made peace, she still apologized for hurting him and he was sweet. Claire thought maybe they would give it another shot but clearly that is not going to happen. Charlie admits that he's glad because that means maybe he still has a shot. Tripp then interrupts. Claire says she has nothing to say to him but Tripp says he has something to say to her.

Marlena tells John that she's very concerned about Allie but she's also concerned about John. Marlena says John and Steve have been friends and for partners for so many years so she doesn't want this to tear them apart. John just wants to get Steve to see that his son is nothing but a liar. John brings up Tripp trying to ruin Kayla's career. Marlena points out that Kayla forgave him for that. John responds that he'd be shocked if Kayla could forgive him for this. Marlena tells him that she just wants all the facts. John states that Tripp assaulted Allie. Marlena asks what if the situation were reversed and somebody accused his son of terrible things. Marlena points out that it's happened with Brady and that John stood up for him when the things were pretty serious. John clarifies that Brady never raped anyone.

Steve gets Tripp's toothbrush. Kayla questions what he's doing. Steve says she wanted a DNA sample so all she has to do is get some DNA from the baby and she could run the rest. Kayla points out that Tripp made it very clear he didn't want that. Steve says he wants her to so that she and everyone else can know that Tripp is telling the truth.

Tripp tells Claire that it's not true and that he and Allie never even had sex. Charlie gets in Tripp's face and tells him to back off. Claire tells Tripp not to come to Ciara's memorial tomorrow because nobody wants him there. Charlie tells Tripp to stay away from Claire because she wants nothing to do with him. Tripp tells Charlie it's none of his business. Charlie says he's making it his business. Claire tells Tripp to just go so he walks off.

Allie tells Nicole that none of this is Henry's fault so to say she can barely look at him sounds so awful. Nicole understands that he's a constant reminder of the worst thing to ever happen to her and it will take time for her. Nicole says she will be there to give her love and support. Allie thanks her for not making her feel like the worst mother ever. Nicole adds that there's no pressure or rush. Nicole encourages that she's not alone anymore. Allie notes that it's time to feed Henry. Nicole asks if she wants her to do it but Allie decides she will. Allie goes to the bedroom while Kayla shows up at the door. Kayla tells Nicole that she needs something from Henry.

Xander joins Sarah in their bedroom and apologizes. Sarah questions what he was thinking by attacking Philip like that when he's already on thin ice with Victor and is supposed to be showing him they can't get along. Xander complains that Philip was all over her but Sarah says they were just talking and it was innocent. Xander argues that Philip has an agenda behind everything he does so he doesn't trust him.

Philip makes a call and says he pushed Xander's buttons and got exactly the reaction he was hoping for. Philip says it was almost too easy and he almost lost his mind. Philip knows if he keeps poking, Xander will eventually do something really stupid and Victor will fire him once and for all.

Claire tells Charlie that Tripp can say whatever he wants as she knows he's lying. Charlie is glad he was there so she didn't have to deal with him alone. Claire says the one thing that sucks about Salem is that it's impossible to avoid people you don't want to see. Charlie wishes he could walk her home but he has to get back to the office. Claire says she'll be fine and she hopes his work day improves. Charlie hopes she doesn't run in to anyone she doesn't want to see. Claire jokes that she'll run in the other direction if she does. Charlie says he will talk to her soon and walks away.

John tells Marlena that he's ready to leave the hospital if Kayla isn't going to hold up his release over this. Marlena informs John that he is free to go. Marlena hopes that when they get home, they can discuss this calmly. John is not sure that's even possible. Marlena tells him that he can't go walking around with all this anger because there's no telling when it will end. John doesn't care how long it takes and says Tripp is not going to skate on this. Marlena wants justice as much as he does but she doesn't want to see it cost John his friendship with Steve. John responds that it will be up to Steve.

Tripp returns home. Steve says he's sorry about what happened with Kayla before. Tripp says it's not his fault and asks where Kayla is. Steve says she had to go out. Tripp asks if it's so she wouldn't be under the same roof as a rapist. Tripp tells Steve not to make excuses as it's obvious what Kayla thinks of him and it's the same thing the whole town thinks of him, except for Steve. Tripp heads to his room while Steve pulls out the toothbrush.

Allie tells Kayla that she's shocked Tripp would agree to a DNA test. Nicole says she is too. Kayla notes that Steve thinks it will clear him. Allie asks what Kayla thinks. Kayla just wants the truth to come out as soon as possible. Allie says she does too and agrees to the DNA test.
