Days of Our Lives Update Wednesday 10/14/20

Philip is in his office at Titan where he makes a call. He says they have bad news since Victor rehired Xander. Philip complains that no matter what he says, Victor insists on Xander getting a second chance. Philip questions how to move ahead with their plans with Xander in his face. Philip remarks that he doesn't know what to do except maybe kill him. Philip then turns around to see Belle standing in the doorway.

Ben sits in his room at the Salem Inn, thinking back to vowing to kill Vincent if he killed Ciara. Claire shows up at his door and says she heard the news. Claire tells him that she's so sorry as they all loved Ciara so much. Claire informs Ben that she's planning a memorial and wanted to know if he had any thoughts. Ben tells her to stop planning because there's not going to be any memorial.

Eli walks outside and sits on the bench. Eli plays Kristen's confession on his phone then deletes it as he says thank you to Kristen. Abe approaches and questions Eli talking to himself. Eli responds that he's doing what he has to do to protect Lani.

Lani tells Brady that there is something Melinda might want to say to him. Melinda starts to speak when Kristen walks in. Brady questions what she's doing here. Kristen announces that she wants to confess to the attempted murder of Victor Kiriakis. Brady questions her . Kristen declares that she stabbed Victor and she wants to change her plea to guilty, shocking Lani, Melinda, and Brady. Brady argues that she doesn't know what she is saying. Kristen wants to take responsibility for her actions. Brady says they will take this back when her lawyer gets here. Kristen insists this was not an impulsive decision and she put a lot of thought into this. Lani asks Kristen not to do this. Melinda says Kristen obviously feels strongly about this so her conversation with Lani is no longer relevant. Lani argues that Melinda doesn't want to separate a mother from her child and asks how sending Kristen to prison is true justice. Melinda responds that she understands Kristen is Lani's friend but if she wants to do this, she needs to inform the judge right away. Brady tries to argue but Melinda leaves the room. Brady then asks Kristen why the hell she did that. Kristen responds that she did it for Lani.

Abe asks Eli what he's protecting Lani from. Eli explains that Melinda is hellbent on nailing Kristen. Abe understands Melinda holds Kristen responsible for Haley's death. Eli tells him that now Melinda is going after Kristen for stabbing Victor and is threatening to put Lani in prison as an accessory. Abe argues that she can't do that since Lani didn't break the law to help Kristen. Eli then reveals that Lani did and Melinda has proof.

Philip hangs up and asks what brings Belle by. Belle says she's here about his case and asks if he forgot he's facing assault charges. Philip assures that he's aware and complains about Jan blowing things out of proportion. Belle warns him to watch his mouth since anyone could have walked in and heard what he just said on the phone. Philip praises Belle as a lawyer. Belle asks how she's supposed to use those talents to defend him when he's talking about murdering someone.

Lani questions Kristen saying she's doing this for her. Kristen thinks back to her conversation with Eli. Kristen then talks about all the times Lani put herself at risk for her. Kristen says Lani has to put herself first now since she's so close to having her babies. Lani encourages her to fight. Kristen says she's tired of fighting, running, and dragging everyone in to her mess. Kristen wants all of this to be over. Lani tells her that she really thought she got through to Melinda. Kristen thanks her for trying. Lani insists that Melinda was this close to dropping the charges and offers to go tell her that it's what Kristen wants but Brady says he will do that.

Belle warns Philip to stop talking like a hitman. Philip claims he was just venting about Xander since Victor fired him but then rehired him and he has no idea why. Philip says he wasn't literally talking about killing someone. Belle wants him to still be careful about what he says. Philip asks about his case and guesses Jan realized she had no chance at making the charges stick. Belle informs him that Jan is definitely not letting this go because she wants to see him locked up. Philip remarks that this is all Shawn's fault.

Ben tells Claire that there won't be a funeral or memorial until they know for sure that Ciara is dead. Claire says Shawn told her that Vincent said he shot her. Ben doesn't give a damn since Vincent would say anything to torture him. Ben adds that if Vincent shot Ciara, they would have found a bullet casing or something at the scene and they are waiting to hear back from forensics. Ben doesn't know why Hope hasn't gotten back to him.

Eli explains to Abe that Lani helped Kristen skip town before she could be arrested and Melinda has security footage of Lani helping Kristen leave the police station. Abe asks what Eli was looking at on his phone then. Eli reveals that he had Kristen's confession.

Kristen tells Brady not to go after Melinda. Brady wants to tell her that she changed her mind but Kristen says she hasn't and that it's probably too late since Melinda is talking to the judges. Lani offers to call Belle to have her meet them at the court. Kristen insists that she has made up her mind. Lani tells her to think about Rachel needing her. Lani cries that she will need her more than ever when her babies come. Lani pleads with Kristen to let them help her. Lani decides to let Kristen and Brady talk so she exits the room. Brady tells Kristen that he's not buying any of this.

Belle questions how it's Shawn's fault that Philip threatened to kill Jan. Philip argues that Shawn knows better than anyone not to listen to what Jan says. Philip brings up Jan holding Shawn hostage in New York while trying to blow the rest of them up. Belle argues that Shawn had no choice because he's an officer of the law. Philip complains that it's not about Shawn doing his job but about their affair. Philip says Shawn is obviously still not over it.

Shawn and Hope go over papers from forensics at home. Hope reads the conclusion that forensics confirmed finding a bullet casing from Vincent's gun. Hope doesn't want to believe it. Shawn hugs Hope as she cries.

Brady doesn't believe that Kristen suddenly decided to sacrifice everything for Lani. Kristen insists that she really put a lot of thought in to the future. Brady questions if she wants to be in prison. Kristen says of course not but she's a mother now and she doesn't want Rachel to grow up thinking she tried to kill someone and didn't pay for it. Brady is not buying it since two days ago, he had to convince her not to leave town and stay and fight. Brady argues that this is not her. Kristen claims she's changed. Brady brings up that Lani said Melinda was about to drop the charges. Kristen says it's not a sure thing. Brady argues that there was a chance and questions if it's not what Kristen wants. Brady knows there is something Kristen isn't telling him. Brady says she needs to tell him what's going on now. Kristen agrees to tell him everything.

Eli explains to Abe that Melinda told him that she would have Lani arrested immediately if he didn't get a full confession on tape from Kristen. Eli says that Kristen said she would do anything to help Lani but she had no idea that he was recording the conversation. Eli says that Kristen described the whole thing. Abe asks if he gave Melinda a copy of the recording. Eli tells him about his nightmare of Lani finding out that he recorded Kristen and how real it felt. Eli says he decided he couldn't do it. Abe asks what this means for Lani and how he's going to protect her now. Eli informs him that he went back to see Kristen and told her that he had the confession and that Melinda said Lani would have her babies in prison if Kristen didn't confess. Eli adds that he begged Kristen until she agreed to confess and take a guilty plea. Abe declares that Lani is off the hook then. Eli confirms that but says now Rachel is going to lose her mom. Eli asks if Abe thinks he's a horrible person.

Belle tells Philip that it's absurd and totally insulting to Shawn. Belle assures that his arrest had nothing to do with them as that was ancient history. Philip wonders if he needs to talk to Shawn again. Belle assures that Shawn knows there is nothing going on between them and never will be. Philip feels he needs to make Shawn see the bigger picture that Jan didn't just file formal charges against him but that Xander convinced her to do it to make him look bad to Victor so that he'll fire him. Philip argues that Shawn is helping Xander's plan right along. Belle says that Shawn doesn't care about his feud with Xander. Philip feels Shawn is still being manipulated by Xander and putting him in very hot water. Belle argues that Philip put himself there when he put his hands on Jan. Philip argues that they know he'd never really hurt Jan when she's the dangerous one. Belle says it doesn't matter if Xander put Jan up to it, all that matters is that Jan made the report so Shawn has to follow up on it. Philip feels Shawn still needs to know that Xander is pulling his strings but then suggests maybe Shawn is thrilled at the chance to take him down. Belle then tells Philip to find another lawyer.

Hope tells Shawn that she needs to go over everything they have so far. Hope brings up Vincent's confession, a bullet missing from his gun, and now having confirmation that the casing was recovered at the scene. Hope says it's that along with Ciara's DNA and rings in the car. Shawn asks if she believes it but Hope cries there's still a one in a million chance that Ciara is alive and escaped the car. Hope decides she needs to call Ben.

Claire is sure Hope will call Ben the minute there is any news. Ben then gets a call from Hope and asks if there's any news on Ciara. Hope is unable to speak and just hangs up the phone as Shawn hugs her.

Philip argues that Belle can't do this to him and that she's only angry because of what he said about Shawn which she confirms. Belle says that's not the only reason because her hands are really full, she's due in court and she has no idea how long Kristen's trial will take. Philip asks what he's supposed to do. Belle says he has options and suggests he go hire Justin. Philip responds that he doesn't want Justin, he wants her.

Shawn sits Hope down as she tells him that she couldn't say it. Ben texts Hope asking what's going on and tells her to call him back. Hope says she couldn't tell him on the phone so she has to go see him. Shawn feels she's in no shape to do that but Hope says she promised Ben to tell him when they got the results so she has to go. Hope gets up and looks for her keys but can't find them. Shawn stops her and asks her to stay home while he goes to see Ben. Hope asks him to come back which he promises to do. Hope hugs him and cries that she loves him so much. Shawn says he will be back and exits. Hope picks up a framed photo of Ciara and hugs it as she breaks down crying.

After Kristen fills Brady in on the truth, Brady says he can't believe Eli would do this to her. Brady questions a police detective tricking her into confessing to a crime because the D.A. is blackmailing him and calls it insane. Kristen says she was upset at first but there is no good outcome. Kristen adds that if she runs, Melinda will go after Lani and she can't let her go to prison when her due date is so close. Brady argues that Lani might not go to prison. Kristen worries about what the stress would do to Lani, pointing out that Lani and Eli have lost one child already. Kristen wants them to bring their twins into this world. Brady feels it was wrong for Eli to pressure her into pleading guilty. Kristen says he was in an impossible situation since if he didn't give the confession, Melinda goes after Lani, but if he does then his marriage is over because Lani would never forgive him. Kristen declares that either way, one of them would be behind bars so she and Eli thought it should be her. Brady argues that Lani can get through to Melinda again and she would just get a slap on the wrist while Kristen could go to prison for the rest of her life for attempted murder and he can't have that.

Abe tells Eli that he's not a terrible person and that he completely understands what he did. Eli assures that he didn't want to. Abe says he's just furious with Melinda for forcing Eli's hand. Abe adds that just yesterday, he expressed his concerns to her about pursuing this vendetta against Kristen and she promised to be ethical and professional. Abe feels he should've fired Melinda when Lani asked him to. Eli says all they can do is look ahead and what's ahead is Kristen losing her freedom because of him. Abe is just sorry that it's come to this. Abe promises that his secret is safe with him. Eli thanks him as they hug. Lani then comes around the corner and asks what's going on here.

Ben finishes a call finding out that Hope is not at the police station. Ben decides to go see if she's at home. Ben opens the door to leave right when Shawn shows up. Ben tells him that he doesn't have time to talk as he needs to go find Hope and find out what's going on. Shawn informs him that is why he's here. Ben asks what the report says. Shawn informs Ben and Claire that forensics confirmed the bullet casing was found from Vincent's gun. Shawn hugs Claire as she cries.

Abe tells Lani that he was just giving his son in law a hug but Lani asks why. Abe says he's just happy that they worked things out before the babies arrived so now they can move forward to a wonderful future together. Lani questions that being it or if there's more since she feels there is something else going on.

Kristen tells Brady that she knows the agony of being separated from the people she loves most and she does not want her best friend to go through that. Kristen tells Brady that she's sorry but she weighed all the options and this seemed to be the best one. Brady disagrees and refuses to let her do this. Kristen says it might not be for long if Melinda has softened a bit and she admitted to what she did so maybe she could get a reduced sentence. Brady points out that maybe she could get locked up for life because Melinda thinks she murdered her daughter. Kristen tells Brady that she made up her mind and it's final. Brady says not if he has anything to say about it.

Philip tells Belle that no one knows how Jan Spears operates better than her so if he has to get a new attorney, he'd have to explain it and they might not get it then Jan might actually win this. Philip reminds her that Jan has already approached Claire twice and asks Belle not to abandon him on this for their sake and Claire's. Belle gives in and agrees to stay on the case but she has to go now. Belle tells Philip not to threaten to kill anyone else as she exits the office.

Claire doesn't want to believe it but thinks they have to now. Ben disagrees. Shawn says he's been praying that Ciara beat the odds too. Ben knows how it looks but they still don't know for sure that Ciara is gone. Claire tells Ben that she will cancel the whole memorial if Ben wants. Ben tells her to do whatever she thinks is best as he's sure everyone who loves Ciara will want the chance to mourn her. Claire thinks Ben needs that chance too. Ben says he just wants to be alone. Shawn encourages that they will get through this together as he and Claire exit the room. Ben picks up Ciara's rings and then puts them back down. Ben grabs his bag and exits the room.

Philip makes another call and says he's just as upset that Xander is still around. Philip questions how he's supposed to launder money through Titan with Xander looking over his shoulder. Philip declares that they have to find a way to get rid of him...

Eli tells Lani that nothing else is going on here. Abe says he's just a proud soon to be grandfather expressing his joy for being very blessed. Lani is glad someone is happy. Abe asks her what's wrong. Lani informs them that Kristen just changed her plea to guilty and she still doesn't know why...

Kristen tells Brady that he can't say anything to anyone if he loves her. Belle enters the interrogation room and questions Kristen changing her plea to guilty which she confirms. Belle complains that she's been busting her butt on her defense so she demands an explanation now.

Hope lays on the floor hugging her photo of Ciara as she breaks down crying.

Ben returns to his room with his bag.

Hope sits up while holding her photo of Ciara.

Ben opens his bag and reveals he stole Vincent's gun out of the evidence at the police station.
