Jack joins Jennifer in the living room of the DiMera Mansion. They talk about Abigail's first article back at the Spectator about Kristen's trial. Jennifer says it really makes you feel for both Kristen and Melinda as victims. They agree that Abigail is a great writer and they are proud of her. Jennifer talks about how strong Abigail has been when Gwen walks in and disagrees.

Abigail wakes up in bed with Chad. Chad is reading Abigail's article and praises it. Chad hopes Belle's defense for Kristen is as strong as Abigail's article because his sister could use a break. Chad wants to show Abigail how much he appreciates her as he kisses her. Abigail then responds that she thinks his brother could use a break too which Chad questions.

Kate goes to the garage where Jake is working. Jake asks what he can do for her.

Brady and Kristen are in their room with Rachel. Brady comments on Kristen not sleeping. Kristen asks what if this is the last morning she is free to wake up with them. Brady encourages her to be positive and hugs her. Brady informs her that he ordered her room service to start the day off right. Melinda then shows up at their door and says she just wanted to make sure Kristen savors her last meal because she won't have an appetite left when she is through with her.

Eli has a nightmare about Lani finding his recording of Kristen's confession on his phone.

Brady tells Melinda to get the hell out and accuses her of trying to get in Kristen's head because she has no evidence to convict her. Melinda comments on Kristen not looking like she slept. Kristen asks Melinda to leave. Melinda tells her to kiss her daughter goodbye when she leaves and remarks that she didn't get that chance thanks to Kristen. Brady orders her to get out. Melinda says she will see them in court as she exits. Brady hugs Kristen and tells her it's okay as she cries.

Chad asks Abigail why they are talking about his brother. Abigail says they share a home and it sometimes feels like a war zone. Abigail talks about Jake being a DiMera like Chad and he wants to be part of the family. Chad questions when Abigail started sticking up for Jake. Abigail reveals that Jake asked him to yesterday and explains how Jake offered to fix her car. Chad questions why she didn't bring this up last night.

Jack asks if Gwen has a problem with Abigail. Gwen says she was talking about Kristen not being a victim as she stabbed an old man and threw Melinda's daughter down the stairs. Jennifer explains that Kristen thought she lost her child forever. Gwen points out that Melinda is the one who lost a child. Jennifer says that's why Melinda blames Kristen for her pain just like Kristen blamed Victor for her pain. Gwen says the two people who got hurt were the two people who wanted revenge and asks who can't relate to that. Jack says it sounds like Gwen has been there. Gwen says she's sure they are both curious so she will tell them because she likes and trusts them. Gwen tells them about Jake cheating on her and dumping her for Gabi like she was toxic. Jennifer asks if Gwen wants revenge. Gwen responds that Jake practically got his ass handed to him when Gabi dumped him so maybe that was revenge. Jack and Jennifer say what goes around comes around. Gwen then adds that karma is a bitch.

Abigail tells Chad that she was waiting for the right moment to say something about Jake which Chad questions being now. Abigail says she didn't mean to upset him. Chad says Jake upsets him and she knows that. Chad questions when she became a fan of Jake. Abigail says she's just trying to broker peace between them since it would benefit the whole house including their kids. Chad asks what the hell their children have to do with this. Abigail points out that Jake is their uncle and they are curious about him. Abigail thinks it would be nice if he could be part of their lives but Chad doesn't want Jake anywhere near their children. Abigail talks about Jake being proud of making the Collins deal happen. Chad argues that was his deal and explains that Jake was only involved because Gabi used him to screw him over. Abigail says she told Jake he would have to prove himself to be a member of the family but he can't do that if Chad's not willing to give him a chance. Abigail understands it's because of her and that's why she feels responsible and is trying to persuade him to try to work it out. Chad acknowledges that Kate thinks he sees Stefan when he looks at Jake. Abigail asks if she's right.

Kate asks Jake about his car work. Jake asks what he can do for her. Kate thinks back to telling Chad that she would keep an eye on Jake. Kate then tells Jake that she needs some help since Abigail told her that he fixed her car. Jake asks if she's having car trouble. Kate claims she is and asks if he could fix it. Jake agrees to take a look.

Brady tells Kristen not to let Melinda scare her. Kristen complains that Melinda is exactly like she used to be. Brady encourages that Kristen is not that woman anymore. Kristen worries that Melinda is going to destroy her and she has the power to do it. Kristen adds that if she does go to prison, he and Rachel will be taken care of. Brady asks what she means. Kristen explains that she talked to Marlena at the hospital and asked her to help take care of Rachel if she goes to prison, to be the mother she won't be able to be. Brady realizes that's why he saw Kristen hugging Marlena. Brady says Melinda can try whatever she wants but she doesn't have the evidence against her so she has to believe. Brady adds that Kristen will be the only mother to raise Rachel.

Eli's nightmare continues with Lani swearing to never forgive him if he uses Kristen's confession. Lani then wakes Eli from his dream, telling him that Melinda is on the phone and wants to talk to him. Eli takes the call. Melinda asks if he got a recording of Kristen's confession or if he wants her to arrest Lani immediately. Eli responds that he got her the information on Ciara's case. Melinda realizes he can't talk so she tells him to get rid of Lani then call her back. Lani questions Melinda calling about Ciara's case. Eli claims she just wanted an update on the evidence against Vincent. Lani figured she would be calling about Kristen since her trial starts today. Lani can't imagine what Kristen is going through right now. Lani then thanks Eli for convincing her to do the right thing with the footage and being the father of her babies. Lani asks if Eli is okay. Eli says he's just trying to wake up. Lani says she will get him coffee and then head to the court house. Eli doesn't think she should do that. Lani argues that Kristen is her friend so she wants to be there to support her. Eli worries that it will be intense and stressful. Lani assures that she'll be fine. Eli insists on not wanting her to go. Lani bets that she knows why.

Gwen tells Jack and Jennifer that she doesn't want them thinking she's a hell hath no fury woman since she's the nanny of their grandchildren. Jack calls it generous of her to look after them. Gwen talks about seeing how excited Abigail was to go back to work. Jennifer says they love having Abigail at work with them. Jack mentions Abigail pitching in at work when Jennifer was in a coma which Gwen questions. Jennifer says she was in a coma for an entire year which surprises Gwen.

Jake returns to the garage and tells Kate that the problem could be a number of things so he's having a tow truck take it to a shop to run diagnostics and it could take awhile. Kate asks if she can wait here which Jake allows. Kate guesses if Jake gives up working at DiMera, he could always get his old job back. Jake responds that he doesn't give up on things he wants and he's just waiting for the right opportunity where Chad gives him the shot he deserves. Jake talks about doing well with Collins until Chad shut him out. Kate thinks it was more that Jake looks like Stefan. Jake argues that it doesn't mean he is Stefan. Kate explains how Jake is a reminder to Chad of finding Abigail in bed with Stefan.

Chad tells Abigail that he feels Jake is capable of whatever Stefan is. Abigail disagrees and points out that Stefan is dead. Abigail doesn't think it's fair to blame Jake for Stefan's sins. Chad admits seeing Jake reminds him of walking in on Abigail and Stefan and it kills him all over again. Abigail says she's sorry and she knows that's why it's hard for Chad to have Jake around. Chad says he doesn't want to feel this way but every time he looks at Jake, it's like a kick in the gut. Abigail understands but assures he has no reason to feel threatened by anyone. Abigail talks about how much it means to her that Chad never stopped loving her and believing in them. Abigail says she's here and healthy because of Chad's love. Abigail declares that nobody will ever come between them again. Abigail asks Chad if he can trust them. Chad kisses her and says he believes in them.

Jake admits to Kate that he knew it was bad but had no idea it was that traumatic. Kate adds that Chad almost beat Stefan to death. Jake gets that Chad sees that in him but insists he's not that monster so it's not fair. Kate questions when life is fair. Jake complains that Chad hates him because he looks like Stefan while Gabi couldn't love him because he's not Stefan. Kate points out that Gabi is out of the picture now so Jake can go back to Gwen. Jake says they are not good together. Jake suggests instead of grilling him about his love life, Kate can tell him about hers.

Jack talks about how painful it was to have Jennifer be completely helpless in the coma. Jennifer adds that he was right by her side when she woke up and Abigail said he barely left the room for the entire year. Gwen calls that romantic. Jack talks about having the support of his family and Abigail holding his hand every step of the way. Gwen remarks on him being so close to his daughter and how not everyone is that lucky.

Lani guesses Eli is afraid that if she shows up in court, it will remind Melinda that she and Kristen are friends then she will rethink the whole security footage thing. Eli asks what if it does. Lani says that Melinda already said she won't pursue it any further so she questions why Eli is on edge. Eli claims that he's not, he just doesn't want her to go. Lani feels he's definitely freaking out. Eli says the call he just got from Melinda, waking him up, would annoy anybody. Lani tells him that she's gonig to support her friend and nothing can stop her so she wil see him later. Lani kisses Eli and hugs him. Lani knows they have their issues about Kristen but she calls Eli the best husband ever. Lani says she loves him and then exits.

Abigail and Chad join Jack and Jennifer in the living room. Jack and Jennifer praise Abigail's article. They hug her while Gwen looks on annoyed.

Kate tells Jake that she won't talk to him about her love life. Jake comments on her asking about his. Jake bets that Kate's love life is a lot more interesting than his ever was. Kate agrees that it probably has been. Jake asks if Kate has ever been in love. Kate responds that she was in love with his father, Stefano. Kate explains that their marriage started as a business arrangement but they fell in love. Kate adds that it was volatile and tender but strong. Jake asks if she thinks she'll ever find love like that again. Kate thinks he asks too many questions.

Kristen watches over Rachel as she sleeps. Kristen asks Brady to thank Marlena for babysitting while they are at the trial which he agrees to do. Kristen asks for one more minute. Kristen tells Rachel that she will always love her. Brady tells Kristen that he will see her later and kisses her. Brady asks her to promise to find a way to stay positive. Kristen tells Brady to go so he's not late. Brady says he loves her. Kristen says she loves him too as they kiss. Brady then takes Rachel and exits to bring her to Marlena's.

Eli calls Melinda and informs her that Lani left. Melinda asks if he got Kristen's confession which Eli confirms. Melinda says she needs it ASAP because she wants to play it at the trial. Eli wants a signed agreement that she won't go after Lani and says that is the only way she's getting the recording. Melinda agrees to draw something up now and tells Eli to get there and give her that bitch's confession.

Jake asks if Kate has given up on love. Kate prefers not to over share. Jake then remarks that he wasn't unhappy seeing Kate in her robe the other day.

After Jack, Jennifer, and Chad leave the room. Gwen brings Abigail a cup of decaf coffee. They sit and talk about their parents. Gwen mentions Jack and Jennifer telling her about Jennifer's coma. Abigail says Jack never gave up and she's blessed that their family stuck through the good and bad times. Gwen comments on many families crashing and burning in the bad times.

Brady walks through the town square with Rachel and comes across Jack and Jennifer. Jennifer tells him that she's praying for Kristen today. Brady thinks that will mean a lot to her. Jack adds that she couldn't have a better lawyer than Belle. Brady says Kristen will need confidence after Melinda showed up to their room with Kristen's last meal and gloated about putting her away. Jack wonders what Melinda will pull in court.

Eli looks at he and Lani's wedding photo. Eli declares that if he gives Kristen's confession to Melinda then Lani will hate him but if he doesn't, then Lani will go to prison. Eli puts the photo down and plays the confession on his phone. Eli then exits the apartment.

Kate asks if that's a compliment coming from a guy who sleeps with trashy women. Jake guesses she doesn't take compliments well. Kate asks if she's heard one yet. Chad then walks in and asks if he's interrupting something.

Abigail talks to Gwen about the year that Jennifer was in a coma being a total nightmare until their prayers were answered and she woke up. Abigail adds that two weeks will be the anniversary of Jennifer waking up. Gwen suggests they celebrate and says she has the best idea.

Lani enters the interrogation room to see Melinda. Melinda responds that she was expecting Eli but Lani says he's not in yet.

Kristen gets ready to go to trial when Eli shows up at her door. Kristen asks what he wants. Eli says he needs to talk to her. Eli walks in and reveals that he recorded their conversation yesterday so he has her full confession right here.
