At the DiMera Mansion, Kate tells Chad about Gabi leaving town. Chad argues that it makes no sense since Gabi was fighting to get DiMera back and was making progress with Shin. Chad questions why she would just walk away. Kate asks what difference it makes since Gabi is gone and now Chad can remain CEO. Chad asks if Jake went with her but Kate says no. Chad says they still have to worry then.

Jake enters his room at the DiMera Mansion with a bottle of alcohol and looks at where Stefan's suit was hung. Jake talks about thinking the suit would turn him into Stefan where he could run the company and maybe even marry his wife. Jake calls himself stupid and asks why he thought he had a shot. Jake declares that he knows nothing about trying to make a woman like Gabi love him. Jake concludes she was just using him the whole time.

Eli finishes a call about the search for Vincent and Ciara as he goes home. Eli heads inside to tell Lani that he has a surprise for her. Lani is home with a baby girl and responds that she has a surprise for him too.

Brady goes to his room at the Salem Inn where he is shocked to find Kristen is inside. Kristen hugs him and kisses him while Brady questions what she's doing here and what the hell she was thinking.

Gwen enters Jake's room and comments on him being drunk. Jake asks what she's doing here since he told her to move out. Gwen reveals that Chad told her she could stay as long as she'd like. Gwen adds that Jake would've known that if he bothered to come home last night. Gwen declares that she's not going anywhere.

Kristen feels Brady isn't happy to see her. Brady reminds her that she can't show her face in Salem as she's risking getting arrested. Kristen says John's in bad shape and she was worried. Brady tells her about seeing John and how he's still heavily sedated right now. Brady tells Kristen that he appreciates her wanting to be there for him but she has to go. Kristen says she won't leave the room. Brady worries about room service or a maid recognizing her when she's a fugitive. Brady then asks her where their daughter Rachel is.

Eli tells Lani that his surprise for her was a BLT from the Pub. Lani tells him that her surprise is that she is babysitting. Eli asks what the baby's name is. Lani reveals that it's Rachel. Eli stops and hopes it isn't the Rachel he thinks it is. Lani says that depends what he thinks. Eli then questions what the hell Lani is doing with Kristen DiMera's child.

Jake reminds Gwen that they are through and says she needs to leave. Gwen points out that's not what Chad said to her and he said she can stay. Gwen adds that she's gotten used to the place and declares that she can make life miserable for Jake and his new girlfriend. Jake responds that Gabi is not his girlfriend. Gwen brings up them being in bed and then both not coming home last night. Jake argues that Chad asked her to live here so she could spy on him and Gabi. Jake informs Gwen that he was alone last night. Gwen asks if Gabi had a meeting or something. Jake then reveals that Gabi left town.

Kate tells Chad that he can't see Jake as a threat. Chad brings up that Jake has Collins on his side and he's an important client. Kate says she wasn't impressed but Chad notes that Shin was. Kate calls it a fluke and points out that Gabi isn't here to coach Jake anymore and he has no knowledge of running a corporation. Kate thinks Chad should consider kicking Jake and Gwen out of the house. Chad points out that it's legally still Gabi's house and she told Jake he could stay. Chad explains that Jake and Gwen broke up. Kate says at least they can get rid of Gwen but Chad informs her that he told her she could stay because he felt sorry for her. Kate questions if that's all he felt for her. Kate asks if Chad has developed a thing for Gwen.

Brady asks Kristen again where Rachel is. Kristen informs him that she's with Lani. Brady argues that the cops probably already know she's here then. Kristen argues that Lani is her best friend while Brady points out that she's married to Eli, who is not her friend. Kristen tells him that Lani didn't say anything when she was in town for her wedding. Brady questions how Lani will explain taking care of their child to Eli. Kristen assures that she'll find a way. Brady warns that she better get creative because if Eli finds out she is here with him, they are screwed.

Lani puts Rachel to sleep. Eli questions if Kristen is in Salem. Lani says probably. Eli questions Lani not turning her in. Lani says Kristen is her friend. Eli reminds her that she's wanted for attempted murder and last time Lani helped her, she got suspended, so if she does it again she could lose her badge permanently. Lani says that's only if someone finds out. Eli argues that they are cops 24/7. Eli calls it unbelievable and pulls out his phone to put an APB out on Kristen.

Steve and Kayla go home. They go through the mail and find a postcard from Stephanie in Hawaii. Kayla wishes they were there with her because she feels they don't see their kids enough. Steve says it's hard with Tripp on the west coast and Joey only have two visiting days a month. Steve points out that one of those days is next week so they can go see him together. Kayla says she would really like that and knows Joey would too. Steve offers to make dinner while Kayla showers but Kayla tells Steve to go first since he was at the hospital with John all day. Steve suggests they shower together and Kayla agrees.

Chad assures Kate that he does not have a thing for Gwen and calls it ridiculous that she'd even think that. Kate says she figured working close together meant fooling around. Chad insists it was strictly business which Kate questions. Chad admits that Gwen kissed him but says it didn't mean anything as it was just to make Jake jealous and he made it very clear that Abigail is the only woman for him. Chad adds that Gwen is not interested in him as she's in love with Jake. Kate points out that Jake broke up with her. Chad says that's the usual for them and with Gabi gone, he's sure they will get back together.

Gwen asks Jake where Gabi went. Jake explains that her mother got very sick so she left for Mexico last night. Gwen mocks that they will have to put their relationship on hold. Jake tells her there is no relationship and never will be. Gwen encourages him not to give up that easily. Jake reveals that Gabi told him that she loved Stefan and that he would never take his place. Gwen thought Gabi had definitely moved on to Jake. Jake assures that Gabi made it very clear that she only wants to take over DiMera and she was just using him the entire time. Gwen calls that so pathetic and laughs at him.

Kristen tells Brady that she's not worried about Eli since Lani said every cop is working on a manhunt. Brady tells her that Eli will come home and figure it out and he's dying to turn her in so he will. Kristen felt she didn't have any other option as she needed someone to watch Rachel so she could talk to Brady about them staying here. Brady asks why Rachel couldn't be here for that. Kristen says she knew he would put up a fight. Brady questions her plan to use sex to get what she wants. Kristen says it usually works but Brady says not this time. Brady wants Kristen to get Rachel and leave town now.

Lani takes Eli's phone from him and refuses to give it back if he's going to arrest Kristen when she trusted her to keep quiet. Eli argues that she shouldn't have involved Lani in her mess. Lani points out that she is Kristen's only friend. Eli warns that she will be her only cellmate too. Eli questions what kind of friend keeps putting her in a position to risk everything. Lani points out that Kristen risked everything to be with her on her wedding day which Eli questions. Lani explains that Kristen wanted to tell her how happy she was for them and even helped her get dressed. Eli notes that she didn't tell him about that. Lani says she knew he would react like this. Eli guesses if he hadn't come home unexpectedly then she wouldn't have told him about this either. Lani says she's trying to keep him out of it but Eli argues that he's in it now. Lani asks Eli to keep it quiet and between them..

Brady tells Kristen that the last two months with her and Rachel have been the best and all he ever wanted. Kristen is sure Marlena questioned him about where he's been. Brady says she and Eric both did. Kristen wonders what he said. Brady assures that they will keep their mouths shut because they know how much she means to him and how much he wants to be with her. Kristen tells him to stop pushing her away then. Kristen asks Brady to let her help him.

Lani tells Eli that Brady and Kristen will probably only be in town until John is better. Lani asks Eli to look the other way until they are going. She tells him to think about Rachel and how if he arrests Kristen, she won't have a mother. Eli reluctantly gives in. Lani thanks him. Eli guesses the department has bigger problems than Kristen anyways as there is still no sign of Ciara and they don't even have a police commissioner. Lani asks about Rafe. Eli says he's sorry as he forgot to tell her but Rafe went to Mexico to be with his mother who is extremely sick. Lani says she's really sorry. Eli notes that there is an upside to this as Gabi went with him. Lani is thrilled to learn Gabi is not in Salem.

Kate tells Chad that she's going to miss Gabi. Chad says he won't. Kate says they had their disagreements but she always had a soft spot for Gabi. Chad brings up everything Gabi did to Abigail. Kate admits she went overboard. Kate asks how Abigail is doing. Chad tells her that she's better but still not 100%. Chad says the drugs are out of her system but she's still having hallucinations so the doctor thinks they may never go away. Chad adds that Abigail is learning how to manage them and the meds are helping. Kate asks when Abigail can come home. Chad says the doctors told him it could be a couple of months. Chad feels part of him is missing and the kids miss her too. Kate encourages that when Abigail does get back, Chad will get right back to normal.

Jake tells Gwen that it's not funny. Gwen disagrees and goes over how Jake broke up with her for Gabi, they have sex once, and then she stomps on his heart. Jake orders Gwen to get out. Gwen jokes that his misery is making her day. Gwen thinks Jake deserves it a little bit since she's in love with him. Jake says he didn't want to hurt her but Gwen points out that he did and never tried to warn her about Gabi. Gwen tells Jake to grovel and beg for her forgiveness then she might actually take him back. Jake tells her that she doesn't get it. Jake declares that with Gabi or not, he and Gwen are never getting back together.

Brady tells Kristen that he's just trying to do what's best for her. Kristen says what's best is to be here with him. Brady reminds her that he's going to be spending days at the hospital since Kayla said John might not wake up for months. Brady feels Kristen would be stuck in a hotel room with a toddler and it's not a great idea. Kristen assures that it's okay and jokes that she can dig out her old Nicole mask. Brady doesn't want her to joke about that since she's a changed woman. Brady complains of being stressed out. Kristen promises not to joke about that again. Kristen offers him one of her famous massages. Brady calls it a bad idea but Kristen insists. Brady lays on the bed and Kristen gives him a massage. Brady now says he's very glad she came. Brady guesses this was her plan to get her way. Brady tells her she wins as they kiss in bed.

Steve and Kayla lay in bed together after their shower. Kayla can't help but feel guilty since so many people they love are going through so much. Steve points out that they've been through a lot too so he thinks they deserve this happiness and anyone who loves them would not disagree. Kayla is happy they have this time alone to shut out the world and reconnect, just the two of them, as they kiss. Meanwhile in the living room, someone walks into the house and looks at Steve and Kayla's framed wedding photo.

Gwen asks Jake how many times they have gone through this and he's come crawling back to her. Jake says this is different but Gwen disagrees. Gwen says she's been a fool and taken back his cheating ass. Gwen says that is their dance. Jake tells her that he never cheated on her until this time. Jake complains that Gwen is just paranoid and all this breaking up is unhealthy. Jake declares that it's wearing him out and has to end. Gwen tells him it's ended then and she doesn't want to get back together anyway. Gwen says she just wanted to see him beg but they are not doing this anymore. Gwen declares that she wants to be with someone who appreciates her. Jake asks if she means someone like Chad. Gwen says maybe. Jake thought they were just pretending. Gwen thinks Chad liked when they kissed. Jake argues that Chad is too rich and married to get involved with someone like her. Gwen argues that he's not that married since Abigail is in a hospital for months. Gwen knows how lonely Chad is, what he's missing, and exactly how to give it to him. Gwen then exits the room. Gwen goes to the living room where Chad is working. Chad asks if she heard the good news that Gabi is out of the country for awhile. Gwen informs him that Jake just told her. Chad guesses that means Jake and Gabi won't get together after all. Chad figured Gwen would be happier. Gwen says normally she would but Jake just made it real that he doesn't want to be with her anymore, Gabi or not. Chad tells Gwen that he's sorry as he knows she loved him. Gwen wishes she could say that wasn't true. Gwen cries that she's so heartbroken and hugs Chad.

Steve and Kayla get dressed despite Steve wanting to stay in bed. Kayla reminds him that they have no food in the house. Steve suggests ordering takeout and kisses her until they hear glass break in the living room. Kayla questions it so Steve tells her to stay there as he goes to investigate.

Brady and Kristen kiss in bed. Brady clarifies that he does love having her with him. Kristen promises not to do anything stupid. Brady says she will have to keep him sane since his family drama has been intense lately with Sami in high gear. Brady thanks Kristen for wanting to be here and prays that nobody finds out. Kristen promises they won't.

Lani holds Rachel while she and Eli talk about having their twins. Eli says he better get back to the station since there is still no lead on Ciara. Eli says he will keep her posted. Lani apologizes for not telling him about Kristen. Eli tells her not to worry about it. Lani makes sure he won't say anything to anyone. Eli agrees not to say a word as he exits. Lani calls herself one lucky woman.

Steve comes out from the bedroom and grabs the person who came in to their house but is shocked to find out it's his son Tripp, who has returned to Salem.

Jake says so much for unconditional love as he tosses his bottle. Kate walks in and asks why he's throwing things. Jake says because it was empty. Kate tells him there is a bar downstairs so he can get his own as she walks back out.

Gwen tells Chad that she's sorry but she really loved Jake. Chad calls it Jake's loss and says Gwen is better off without him. Gwen asks if he really thinks so. Gwen thanks Chad for being so nice to her and hugs him again. Abigail then walks in, surprising Chad. Abigail announces that she's home.
