Days of Our Lives Update Wednesday 9/2/20

Belle goes to the hospital and greets Marlena, asking how John is. Marlena tells her that there's been no change and Brady is in with him now. Belle didn't know Brady was back. Marlena admits she was surprised herself but she's so glad he's here and thinks it will do John a lot of good. Belle apologizes for not being here more. Marlena understands she needs to be with Shawn when his sister is missing.

At the police station, Hope is wondering where Ciara is as she waits on a text back from Eli. Claire arrives and asks if there's any news on Ciara. Hope says there's nothing yet. Claire hugs her and says she's so sorry. Hope tells her that Eli is out searching and assures they are going to find her. Claire asks about Ben. Hope tells her that Shawn is in the interrogation room with him now, trying to get answers out of him.

Shawn is in the interrogation room with Ben, urging him to remember everything that happened in the dorm room. Ben says he's already told him and Hope everything he remembers. Shawn argues that Ciara is still missing so he wants him to go over it again and again until they find her. Shawn asks what Ben last remembers saying to Ciara. Ben says he said he loved her and that he was sorry but he didn't have a choice. Ben swears he doesn't remember hurting Ciara and that he wouldn't do that because he loves her. Shawn demands Ben start remembering what happened to her.

The judge then returns to the room to render her decision. She says that Sami presented compelling information today that could have affected her decision if it was substantiated but the lack of proof confirms her original decision. She announces the restraining order has been terminated. Sami says she can substantiate her claims as she then calls Jan Spears to the stand, shocking Eric, Nicole, and Justin. Jan walks in and asks Nicole if she's going to say hello to her old friend. Jan bets she thought she would never see her again but here she is. Nicole approaches Sami and asks what the hell she is trying to pull. Eric points out that Sami said Jan was in a psychiatric hospital. Sami responds that she was until she persuaded her to testify against Nicole.

Marlena asks if Belle has heard from Shawn on any news about Ciara. Belle says there is no news or updates like Ciara just vanished which means Ben may have followed through on what he was brainwashed to do..

Claire worries to Hope about anything happening to Ciara and wishes she could've got through to Eve when she tried to stop her. Hope tells her she can't blame herself for any of this as there was no getting through to Eve. Claire asks how Hope did. Hope says she understands Eve's rage because she lived it when she lost her son Zack so she begged Eve not to put her through that pain again. Hope prays that Shawn can get through to Ben and get some answers to help find Ciara as they have to find her.

Ben tells Shawn that he wants to know what happened to Ciara too because he loves her and she is his whole world. Ben says it's like someone ripped out part of his brain. Ben adds that if he did something to hurt Ciara, his life will be over. Shawn agrees, warning that his life will be over if he hurt his sister.

Ciara is asleep in a bed in an unknown place.

Shawn argues that maybe Ben is lying to him because he's afraid to go back to death row.

Ciara remains asleep and dreams of being with Ben after their wedding and planning their honeymoon.

Sami says they kept saying she had no proof that Nicole put Jan up to murdering Victor and now here is her proof. Nicole argues that Jan is insane. Sami explains how Jan was released. Justin argues that Sami is supposed to give prior notice to any witnesses. The judge reminds him that this is a hearing, not a trial. She adds that Sami's allegations are very serious so she will allow Jan Spears to testify. Jan then takes the stand.

Marlena tells Belle that she just feels so guilty as she doesn't know what she'll do if anything happens to Ciara. Belle asks why she feels guilty. Marlena explains how Ben came to her in need of help but she cancelled their appointment. Belle points out that John is fighting for his life. Marlena says she knows but she also knew Ben needed help and he was in trouble but she wasn't there for him.

Claire tells Hope that she can feel that Ciara is okay. Claire encourages that Ciara is strong and will come home to them. They hug until they hear Shawn threatening to beat the truth out of Ben. They then rush into the interrogation room where Hope pulls Shawn back and questions what he's thinking. Ben responds that Shawn is right that he deserves to have the crap beaten out of him. Hope decides Shawn is done. Claire asks if she can stay and talk to Ben. Hope allows it as she takes Shawn out of the room. Shawn asks if he's off the case now. Hope says she needs his help more than ever with Rafe gone but he needs to cool down. Shawn asks how he's supposed to do that when they don't know where Ciara is, Eve was no help, Vincent is still on the loose, and Ben is just drawing blanks. Hope tells him they will keep going, following any lead they have. Shawn apologizes for losing it as he can't imagine how this is for her. Shawn adds that it's a shame that Rafe had to leave. Hope tells him how happy she is that he is here. Shawn decides he's going to check on Belle at the hospital and see how John is doing. Hope sends her love. Shawn tells her to hang in there because they are going to find Ciara.

Ciara continues dreaming about being with Ben and finding out that she's pregnant.

Nicole says this can't be happening. Eric questions Sami dragging Jan out of the facility where she was getting help and if she has no compassion. Sami responds that she's only thinking about her grandson and Allie. Nicole calls Sami mean and vindictive. The judge warns her about outbursts and threatens to have her removed from the court. She allows Sami to proceed. Sami thanks Jan for joining them and asks how she knows Nicole. Jan says that Nicole befriended her years ago when she was young, miserable, and always in trouble because her parents didn't love her enough. Jan brings up Nicole's parents. Sami wants her to keep on track on the details of her involvement with Nicole. Jan says she was at a low point in her life in love with Shawn, who was in love with Belle. Jan says she was devastated by his rejection and Nicole understood her rejection. They go over Nicole offering to help her get Shawn away from Belle. Sami asks what Nicole wanted in return and if it was for her to kill Victor. Jan confirms that is what Nicole wanted.

Ben tells Claire to go ahead and lay it on him as he knows she hates him. Claire responds that they both love Ciara and he would never hurt her because he doesn't have it in him. Ben argues that she knows he does. Claire says that was a long time ago and he's better now. Ben calls that a hard concept for a lot of people to accept. Claire brings up how Ben was blamed for Jordan's murder and for Claire's fires. Claire says she's been where he is and she knows the love he's capable of so there's no way he would ever hurt Ciara. Claire just wishes she could say the same about herself.

Ciara continues her dream about giving birth to a baby boy with Ben.

Shawn goes to the hospital and tells Marlena and Belle that Ben claims he's desperate to find out what happened to Ciara but he doesn't know what to believe. Shawn adds that if Ben is brainwashed that whatever happened to Ciara is locked in his head and they can't get to it. Marlena suggests that she could. Shawn says he can't ask her to do that with everything going on. Marlena points out that Brady is with John and they are here so they can tell her if she's needed here. Shawn remains unsure but Marlena declares she needs to do this and exits the hospital.

Sami talks about Jan being vulnerable and Nicole taking advantage of that. Sami tells Jan not to feel intimidated because she's on her side. Sami tells Jan to tell the court what happened. Jan says before Nicole, the worst she had done was high school pranks on Chloe. Sami reminds her that they are here to focus on how Nicole used her in her alleged murder plot. Jan says she was very clear that she would do nothing violent but Nicole had it all figured out, death by radio. Sami encourages Jan to focus on the details. Jan goes over how Victor liked to soak in the tub while listening to the radio and all she had to do was dump the radio in the tub and everyone would think it was an accident. Jan admits she felt bad because Victor never seemed that bad to her. Justin questions why she didn't say anything to anyone then. Jan says she thought about it as she was very conflicted but not too long after, she ended up in a coma. Justin asks about since she came out of the coma. Jan responds that nobody asked. Sami asks if Jan thinks a woman who attempted to murder her husband is an unfit parent. Justin objects, arguing that Jan's opinion is irrelevant. Sami explains that she's just trying to establish the facts. Sami asks if the plan was for Nicole to murder Victor so she could get his money. The judge interjects that the person to answer that isn't Jan, but Nicole, so she asks Nicole if it's true.

Hope finishes a call with Eli and tells him to keep her posted as Marlena then arrives at the police station. Hope asks how John is. Marlena says there is no change and Brady is with him at the moment. Marlena states that Brady is home, Shawn and Belle are home, so John has a room full of company. Marlena adds that she decided to come here to see if she could help. Marlena asks Hope about Ben and Ciara. Hope informs her that Ben still doesn't remember if he did anything to Ciara or where she is. Marlena offers to help by hypnotizing Ben to help him get past whatever block he has and if he remembers where Ciara is then they can bring her home.

Ciara's dream continues about coming home with Ben and their baby and living happily ever after.

Justin advises Nicole not to respond as it might incriminate her. Sami argues that's more proof that Nicole is guilty. The judge asks if Justin has any questions for Jan. Justin says no as her testimony and mental state speak volumes. The judge allows Jan to leave. Jan thanks Sami on her way out and tells Nicole that she didn't mean to hurt her but she had to tell the truth. Jan then exits. Sami asks the judge what more proof she needs that Nicole is an unfit parent since she took advantage of a mentally unstable woman to get away with murder. Sami declares that her grandson's life is at stake so Nicole cannot be allowed to raise her grandson.

Belle encourages Shawn that she can feel that Ciara is alive and if anyone can get Ben to remember what happened, it's Marlena. Shawn tells her she's been amazing through all of this with what's happening with John and Sami but she's here by his side. Belle says she always will be as they kiss. Belle asks what Shawn is thinking. Shawn informs her that he ran into Philip. Belle is surprised that Philip is in Salem. Shawn says that Philip said he's here because he's going to stop running from his legacy. Shawn guesses he's staying and admits he's not thrilled about it because he thought they saw the last of him after the whole Jan Spears nightmare...

Justin tells the judge that she can't render her decision based on the testimony of a woman who is mentally unstable and who allegedly was going to do this crime because Nicole offered her something in return. Justin questions what Sami offered her in return for today. Sami argues that Jan told the truth. Justin argues that the truth is Jan is a dangerous woman and he can bring Shawn and Belle in to testify to that. Sami says there is no need to drag Belle into this. Justin asks the court to discount the testimony of Jan Spears and proceed on the ruling to award custody of Allie's baby to Eric and Nicole.

Ciara's dream continues of celebrating Father's Day for Ben but his present turns out to be a necktie that upsets him.

Marlena enters the interrogation room. Ben tells her that she shouldn't be here right now and she should be with her husband. Claire asks how John is. Marlena says there's no change but they are hopeful. Claire decides she will go sit with John for awhile and exits. Marlena tells Ben that she's sorry she wasn't able to see him yesterday but she's here now and she's going to solve this problem. Ben asks what if he killed Ciara. Ben swears he fought whatever Eve and Vincent did to him but the last thing he remembers, he was losing and afraid of what he might do to Ciara. Marlena says they will figure out what happened and offers to hypnotize him like when everyone thought he set the cabin on fire. Marlena points out that he remembered a few details then so she thinks he can do it again. Ben tells her that he's ready.

The judge acknowledges that Justin makes some valid points. Sami interrupts but the judge says they have heard enough. Sami reveals Jan's diary and says everything is in there about how Nicole coerced her into attempted murder. Sami says the judge has to consider it as a child's life is at stake. Justin calls this ancient history even if they believe the words of an unstable woman which has no bearings on the proceedings. Sami then pulls out a letter from the head of Shady Pines stating that Jan Spears is fine and being discharged so she's a free woman.

Belle talks to Shawn about how Jan Spears nearly turned their high school reunion into a bloodbath and what she did to Shawn. Shawn thanks God every day that Jan didn't get away with blowing them up. Belle remarks that at least Jan is locked up and can never hurt them again. Jan then appears at the hospital and says poor Belle has no idea what she's talking about as usual.

Marlena hypnotizes Ben and asks what he remembers. Ben recalls breaking through the bathroom door to get to Ciara. Ben says he stood over Ciara and that she was encouraging him to fight whatever was in his head. Ciara said she could help him and she loved him. Ciara told Ben that he could never take her life from her. Ben said he loved her too but he was sorry as he had to do this. Ben repeats that he had no choice. Marlena encourages him to continue and to tell her what happened next. Ciara tried to tell Ben they could fight this together. Ben then remembers Vincent coming into the room and asking what he was waiting for, urging him to kill her now. Ben then declares he remembers everything.

Ciara's dream continues until she wakes up to see Vincent standing over her.
