John goes through the mail as Marlena comes home. John hugs her and knows she had a long day. Marlena asks if he saw Brady. John confirms he did but he had few words. John adds that he thinks Brady is up to something and he came to her office to talk to her about it but she wasn't there. Marlena informs John that she got a call from Bayview because Claire wanted to see her.

Claire sits in her hospital room with Ben and Ciara's wedding invitation, humming along to "Here Comes the Bride".

Ben and Ciara are in their room planning their wedding. Ciara says they've narrowed it down to three venues, they know Julie is marrying them, and now they have to discuss wedding outfits. Ciara mentions she and Hope are shopping for wedding dresses today so she thought Ben could get a tuxedo. Ben jokes about how hot it will be in July. Ciara points out that traditionally his best man goes with him. Ben questions who is going to want to be his best man.

Jack tells Jennifer that Steve was drinking with no sign of stopping, clearly upset about Justin and Kayla. Jennifer asks about the note that Steve wrote which Jack says was bull.

Kayla goes to the Brady Pub and sees Steve drinking at the bar as he then turns around and sees her. Kayla greets him and guesses that's not his first drink. Steve says it's one of many and that he's really glad to see her because there's something very important he needs to say to her.

John asks Marlena if Claire is alright or if she had a setback. Marlena clarifies that it's nothing like that but their granddaughter wants to be released as she thinks she's ready to be back in the real world. John asks if Marlena thinks she is ready.

Another patient comes in to Claire's room at Bayview, saying she hoped Claire would sing for them again. She says her song is stuck in her head and she loves her singing. Claire thanks her but doesn't know if the other residents really like it. Claire argues that no one claps hard or compliments her afterwards. Claire complains that all she hears is talking and laughing while she's singing like no one is even paying attention. She remarks that everybody else is a wackjob except them. She sees the wedding invitation and asks about it. Claire says it's nothing important but she questions why she was staring at it so hard. Claire claims she wasn't but the girl takes it and asks her about it. Claire explains that it's Ben and Ciara, who is her dad's little sister. Claire adds that Ciara was her best friend but they had a falling out.

Ciara argues that Ben has guys that will stand up for him, suggesting Will since they are friends now. Ben argues that all they have in common was prison and mocks the idea of his best man being someone he once attempted to strangle to death. Ben feels he doesn't fit in to any of these traditions. Ciara refuses to elope and says she's so proud to be marrying him so she wants the whole town to know it. Ciara doubts that Will is going to say no. Ben refuses to put him on the spot by asking him. Ben then decides he may have one possibility in Jake.

Jake is at work and gets a text asking if he has what they want yet. Jake then gets another text with a picture of Gabi tied up, saying she's alive for now.

Kayla asks Steve what he wants to say to her. Steve says he didn't get the chance to properly congratulate her on her engagement so he offers to buy her a cocktail. Kayla says he doesn't need another drink. Steve insists but he staggers off his stool. Kayla notes that he's hammered and doesn't usually get like this so she asks him what's wrong. Steve thinks back to Jack talking to him about their love. Steve tries to get up but falls in to Kayla's arms.

Ciara argues that Ben barely knows Jake and she doesn't like what she does know of him. Ben points out that Jake has been good to him. Ciara points out that Jake got him beat up and almost got them killed. Ben asks if she wants him to have a best man since that is who he has. Ben says Jake gave him a job when no one else would. Ben adds that Stefan was the only other person in town he considered a friend. Ciara accepts that it's his wedding too so he can ask whoever he wants. Ciara wants him to promise to think about asking Will. Ben agrees to think about it then asks Ciara who will be her maid of honor. Ciara says that's a really good question since for so long, her life has been all about him which challenges her in the friends department and before everything happened, Claire was her best friend.

The other patient asks Claire about her falling out with Ciara. Claire says they don't really talk anymore. She says it must've been some falling out then realizes Ciara is the one she tried to torch which landed her here. She questions Claire still being invited to her wedding but Claire says not exactly as she didn't give her the card. She asks where Claire got it then.

Marlena tells John that after seeing Claire, she talked to her doctors and they feel she's making amazing progress in dealing with her issues. John asks if that means she's ready to leave Bayview. Marlena says that the doctors suggests a supervised release if she agrees, but if she doesn't agree it won't happen. John asks if it's too soon.

Jack tells Jennifer that Steve wants Kayla back and is finally starting to let go of the guilt over all the things he did as Stefano. Jack adds that Steve went to the hospital to tell Kayla that he wanted her back. Jennifer recalls Kayla saying she got called away so she didn't have a chance to talk to Steve and questions why Steve just left a note. Jack explains that when Steve finally got to Kayla, she was being proposed to by Justin in the middle of the nurses station so Steve wrote a note and ran away. Jennifer asks what he's going to do. Jack says Steve doesn't want Kayla to know.

Kayla takes Steve home and helps him inside to the couch. Steve states that Kayla has always been there for him whenever he needed her.

Marlena is curious to hear John's opinions about Claire being ready to be released. John says his gut feels she's doing much better. Marlena agrees but asks if she's the old Claire. John feels like she is his buddy again. Marlena says she does too and that Claire understands all the harm she had done. Marlena thinks there may be a way to resume the friendship between Claire and Ciara. John thinks Hope and Ciara need to weigh in on whether Claire can come home or not. Marlena decides that whatever happens, Claire needs to be supervised as she always had jealousy towards Ciara so she wouldn't want to see anything happen to set her back. Marlena mentions that Ciara being engaged to Ben and how that could trigger her. John asks if she even knows about the wedding. Marlena says she doesn't know as they didn't discuss it.

The patient encourages Claire that she can trust her as she asks how Claire got the wedding invitation card. Claire informs her that she saw it on the doctor's desk and borrowed it. She asks how Dr. Morris got it. Claire explains that Ben was a patient here so she guesses he invited his old shrink. The patient asks why Claire took it. Claire claims it was an impulse as she was just curious. She asks if Claire is thinking about crashing her wedding.

Ben hopes Ciara doesn't miss Claire, reminding her that she tried to burn her to death twice. Ciara assures that she hasn't forgotten that and that she doesn't want Claire around but she misses the way she was when she was younger. Ciara says she was so much fun then and helped her through some awful stuff as she always had her back. Ben says he can be her best friend now. Ciara jokes that she can hire herself a maid of honor. Ben only cares about becoming her husband. Ciara says she can hardly wait as they kiss until there's a knock at the door and Jake arrives. Jake tells Ben that he has to talk to him. Ben notes that he told Ciara everything. Jake reveals that they don't know everything as Gabi has been kidnapped.

Kayla asks Steve how he's feeling. Steve says he will be okay. Kayla says she will go then but Steve imagines telling her that he still loves her.

Jake explains to Ben and Ciara how Gabi was dragged out at gunpoint. Ciara questions why they even want to take Gabi in the first place. Jake explains that she gave the guy the idea that she was his wife. Ben questions her being at the garage. Jake thought she was locked up. Ciara mentions hearing she made bail. Jake says now this guy has Gabi and won't let her go until he gives him back what he wants. Jake shows the picture of Gabi tied up that he was sent. Ciara declares that she's calling the police but Ben and Jake say no.

The patient asks if Claire is going to crash the wedding. Claire says no because she's not the person she used to be. Claire adds that Ciara used to be her best friend so she wants to be one of her bridesmaids or maybe even her maid of honor. Claire claims that she just wants to make amends and prove to Ciara how sorry she is. She asks if she really thinks sorry will cut it after trying to light her on fire. Claire wants to make Ciara see how messed up she was then and how different she is now. Claire adds that a lot of people hate the idea of Ciara marrying Ben so she could show her support. The patient reminds Claire that she's locked up here and they don't get field trips. Claire responds that she may be blowing this joint real soon.

Jack tells Jennifer that Steve pretty much admitted defeat when he saw Justin proposing to Kayla because he doesn't want to stick it to Justin after he's been through so much. Jack says Adrienne would haunt Steve for the rest of his life. Jennifer argues that Steve and Kayla are soulmates so Kayla deserves to know how he feels. Jack questions why when Kayla is happy now with Justin and Steve doesn't want to burden her with the information that he still loves her. Jennifer decides that if Steve isn't going to tell Kayla the truth then she will.

Steve dreams of reuniting with Kayla until Hope wakes him up. Steve asks where Kayla is since she was there. Hope says she got there as Kayla was leaving and that Kayla just drove him home, got him settled, and left. Hope mentions that Kayla said he was drinking at the Pub and asks if he's going to be okay. Steve responds that he just thought Kayla was still there but it must have been a dream...

John points out that Claire shouldn't be mad about Ciara marrying Ben. Marlena says that Claire always felt a man's undying love would solve all of her problems and now Ciara is getting that before she does. John recalls Ciara also having the job at Titan and a bright future. Marlena says when Claire comes home, they will have to be like parents to her because she doesn't want anything to happen to cause her to regress. John notes that Ben got a second chance, found someone who believes in him, and now he's making the most of that so maybe Claire will also. Marlena mentions that Claire said the same thing. John says he sometimes daydreams about Claire coming back to them the way she used to be. Marlena assures that she's on board with this, so all they have to do now is get Claire's parents approval.

The patient asks about Claire thinking Marlena will pull some strings and get her right out. Claire explains that Marlena has consulted here forever so she told her she's better and ready to make it up to the people she hurt which she can't do from in here. The patient tells Claire that she talks a good game but asks if she really makes things right with Ciara or finish off what she started.

Jake asks Ciara not to bring the cops in to this since they are dealing with the mob here so if they find out the cops are involved, Gabi's dead. Ben adds that she doesn't want to risk that. Ciara argues that she's not risking anything since Rafe is the police commissioner and Gabi's brother so they can trust him to not let anything bad happen to Gabi.

Jack stops Jennifer and asks if she's really ready to upend Justin and Kayla's life. Jennifer argues that Kayla deserves to know the truth. Jack says she does but not from them as Steve can fight his own battles. Jack declares that Steve finally realizes, recognizes, and understands that his time with Kayla is over. Jennifer argues that she won't be able to look Kayla in the eye with all this information. Jennifer thinks they need to give Kayla the right to make her own decision. They argue until Kayla then arrives.

Jake begs Ciara not to bring the cops into this. Ciara repeats that Rafe is Gabi's brother. Ben reminds her that Rafe is in court today for David's custody hearing so he won't answer his phone. Ciara asks what they are going to do then. Ben tells Jake that their best chance at stopping the man from hurting Gabi is to find Jake's ex.

Hope asks Steve about the dream he was having. Steve says it didn't seem like a dream and was so real. Hope guesses it was about he and Kayla. Steve explains that he told her he wanted her back but guesses he was just drunk dreaming. Hope encourages that he'll be sober in the morning and can try again but Steve says he can't. Steve tells her that he knows he keeps saying this but Kayla knows her own mind and she's happy with Justin. Steve wishes it wasn't true and that he could go back and change things but she's made a life with someone else so he needs to respect that.

Jennifer tells Kayla that she's so surprised to see her as she thought she was meeting Justin tonight. Kayla explains that Justin is stuck in court but Jennifer invited her for dinner so she hopes the invitation still stands. Kayla brought a pie that she baked. Kayla asks about the kids. Jack says they are in the nursery and says he'll get ice cream and wine. Jack sends Kayla to the nursery. Jack then warns Jennifer not to talk to Kayla about Steve tonight. Kayla comes back and sits with them. They talk about the kids and then Kayla mentions seeing Steve tonight, drinking at the Pub. Jennifer asks if he said why he was drinking. Kayla says he tried but was really incoherent. Kayla says she got him back to Hope's and then he passed out. Kayla notes it wasn't a happy drunk so she thinks he's still beating himself up for Dr. Rolf messing with his head. Jennifer tries to say that was so long ago but Jack interrupts to say he saw Steve at the Pub and thinks she's absolutely right.

Steve tells Hope that he's sorry she has to put up with all this. Hope understands he's going through hell and she's in this for the long haul with him as they are family so she'll always have his back. Steve tells her he appreciates it. Steve then falls back asleep so Hope puts a blanket over him.

Jake appreciates Ben's help but notes that Ciara doesn't look too happy. Ben tells Ciara it's up to her. Ciara brings up that Jake told Ben that he found out his ex flew to Chicago then took a train to Salem and disappeared. Ciara asks if he has any idea why she would be headed here. Jake says she never even mentioned Salem so he needs someone who knows the place inside out. Ciara tells Jake that he's come to the right place as they are in. Ciara asks if his ex might be hiding out somewhere near her. Jake says all he knows is that there is no proof she left Salem. Ciara asks if he has a picture of her which he does. Jake then shows Ben and Ciara a picture of his ex, Gwen.

The patient tells Claire that she didn't answer her question and asks if she's really planning on making things right with Ciara or if she has other plans for her. Claire says she's offended that she could even say that to her. The patient says it was just a question. Claire shouts that she's not a vindictive bitch like she was before so once she gets out, she's never coming back. She hopes it all works out for her. They shake hands as Claire reveals the patient's name is Gwen and they hug.

Jake shows Ben and Ciara the picture of his ex girlfriend Gwen, who is the patient at Bayview with Claire. Jake, Ben, and Ciara conclude that now all they have to do is find her before it's too late for Gabi.
