Sonny goes home to the Kiriakis Mansion where Will is working in the living room. Will asks where Sonny went. Sonny tells him that he was visiting his mom's grave site and his dad was there too. Will asks if Justin is okay. Sonny says that Justin said something about life being too short and never knowing what's going to happen which got him thinking about having another baby. Will says let's do it.

Eli goes home to find Lani and questions why she's not returning his texts. Eli asks her to explain why she ran out on him at the hospital and why she said she didn't think she wanted to have a baby. Lani admits that she's afraid of losing it, the way they lost David.

Hope goes to Rafe's house and says she went to the police station but was told that Rafe went home early which he hasn't done since he was sick so she decided to check on him. Rafe says he's fine but David needed a nap and thanks her for checking. Hope thinks she should be thanking him.

Abe and Kate sit together in the town square going over Abe's schedule. Abe questions her about the key to the city ceremony. Kate explains that she thought in light of the heroics, that they should honor Hope and Steve. Kate notes that they haven't accepted yet but she went ahead and put it on the schedule. Abe questions why she would do that.

Justin goes to the hospital and greets Kayla. She asks what he's doing here. Justin then pulls out a ring and gets down on one knee. Justin knows it's sudden and they are in the middle of a hospital but he can't wait any longer as he loves her and wants to share the rest of his life with her. Justin proposes to Kayla as Steve comes around the corner and sees them.

Eli tells Lani that he did research that the odds of it happening on Lani's second child are 2%. Eli suggests they can go to the hospital to talk to Kayla to get more information. Lani argues that it doesn't matter because there's no way they could know what could happen as so many things could go wrong with the pregnancy. Eli asks what about everything that could go right. Lani cries that she can't even think about that because losing a child again would kill her.

Will talks about how he and Sonny talked about growing their family last year before the accident and he feels like now they are finally back to the place they were then. Will assumed that was what Sonny was talking about which he confirms. Sonny wants to have a baby as they kiss.

Rafe questions Hope wanting to thank him. Hope informs him that she took his advice to try and forgive herself for the horrible things she did as Princess Gina which Rafe is glad to hear. Rafe jokes that he has more power than he thought. Hope tells him that Julie and Ciara said the same thing that he did. Rafe tells her it's time to move on with her life. Hope promises to do her best. Hope brings up last night and how they worked together to find Zoey, David, and John. Hope says that was the first time in forever that she truly felt like herself. Rafe thanks her and says he knows how she feels. Zoey then walks in and says she's sorry to interrupt. Rafe questions what she's doing here.

Kayla tells Justin that the ring is beautiful. Steve turns and walks away. Kayla doesn't know what to say and suggests they go talk somewhere privately.

Steve goes to Kayla's office to write her a note.

Kate asks if Abe doesn't think Steve and Hope deserve recognition for their actions. Abe clarifies that it's not Kate's place to make the offer as she doesn't speak for him or do anything without his approval. Kate argues that she's trying to help him. Abe questions if she is or if she's trying to ease her guilt about not hoping Steve and Hope when they were brainwashed. Kate assures that guilt has nothing to do with this. Kate thinks it's a perfect opportunity for Abe to showcase crime actually being resolved in Salem. Kate says that's her job but Abe responds that it's not.

Zoey tells Rafe and Hope that she took off to find her son and says that he is fine. Hope is glad she got him back safe and sound. Zoey asks to speak to Rafe in private but Hope doesn't know if that's a good idea since last time, she shot him. Zoey calls that an accident. Hope says he's lucky to be alive. Rafe tells her it's okay as he can handle it so Hope then exits. Zoey comments on Hope being very protective of Rafe. Rafe asks Zoey for one good reason not to arrest her right now.

Justin and Kayla go to her office. Kayla tells him that she just felt uncomfortable having a moment like that in the middle of the nurses station. Justin admits he should've picked a more romantic spot. Kayla looks over at Steve's note on her desk, which says he's glad everything worked out the way it did and that she's happy with Justin. Justin asks her what it is but Kayla says it's nothing important. Justin guesses it's not a great sign that she didn't want to answer him so he asks if she brought him to her office to spare him the public humiliation of rejecting his proposal.

Lani notes that Eli really wants to have the baby. Eli says it's because he loves her and he knows they could give a child a really great home. Lani guesses he thinks she's being irrational but Eli says he doesn't. Eli knows it's taking a big risk and a giant leap of faith but he's willing to take it with her. Lani says she understands that and knows that losing David was really devastating for him too but he wasn't inside of him so he doesn't know what this feels like. Eli agrees and says he would never pretend to but asks if this means she would never want to have a kid with him.

Will and Sonny talk about deciding to have a baby and everything they've been through. They talk about how to go about it. Sonny talks about adoption but Will talks about how that can get complicated like what's happening with Rafe and David.

Zoey tells Rafe that she feels horrible about what happened and is so glad he wasn't hurt. Rafe asks what she's doing here. Zoey wanted to apologize as she hated lying to him and says she wouldn't be able to live with herself if he was killed when he was shot. Rafe knows she didn't mean for the gun to go off and suggests putting it behind them along with the custody battle over David. Zoey thinks there's a misunderstanding as she is still suing for custody of her nephew and she intends to win.

Steve goes to the Brady Pub where Hope tells him that she was just picking up dinner for them. They joke about her cooking. Hope decides to buy him a beer while they wait. Steve responds that he could use one after a day like today. Hope asks if that means things didn't go well with Kayla. Steve informs her that he didn't get a chance to talk to her as Kayla had to rush out then when he went to find her, Justin was in the middle of proposing to her. Hope asks if she said yes but Steve says he wasn't going to hang around and torture himself so he went back to her office and wrote her a note. Hope asks about the note. Steve says he just told her he was happy for her and asks what else he can say. Hope suggests the truth. Steve states that the truth is he got there too late. Hope points out that she could've said no. Steve asks why she would when she loves him. Hope argues that Kayla loves Steve.

Kayla doesn't think either of them take the idea of marriage lightly or that a decision this monumental should be taken impulsively. Kayla asks where this is coming from. Justin tells her that he loves her. Justin explains that earlier today, he visited Adrienne's grave and asked her for a sign that she was okay with him proposing and a second later, Sonny showed up and gave him his blessing because he knows how happy she makes him. Justin says they have endured so much heartache so he wants joy in their life. Justin guesses the only question left is what does Kayla want.

Kate questions Abe saying it's not her job to make him look good and asks if that means he's firing her. Abe clarifies that he's setting clear expectations which he should've done in the first place. Kate knows everyone told him that she would stab him in the back in the end. Abe knows that she's used to being the boss but this job, she has to learn to follow the orders which he's not sure she understands. Kate reminds him that she spent the last year as a waitress at the Pub and took orders for a living. Abe says it seems that she has a problem taking orders from him then and if that's going to continue then maybe they should part ways.

Rafe questions Zoey still suing him for custody and guesses she can't be with her own kid so she's going after his. Zoey argues that Rafe hasn't adopted David yet and he's her flesh and blood. Rafe argues that she doesn't even know David while he's raised him for over a year like his mother wanted, adding that Jordan is no longer with them because of Zoey's brother. Zoey argues that they both love David so if she gets custody, she will let Rafe see him. Zoey asks if he wants to try to work it out or go to court, guaranteeing that he will lose if so.

Sonny tells Will that Rafe's situation with David is pretty unusual so he's sure they won't have to go through a nightmare of that. Will brings up trying to have a baby of their own via a surrogate. Sonny points out that they would have to decide which one of them is going to be the biological father.

Eli asks Lani if she would never want to try for another baby again. Lani brings up adoption as so many children out there need homes. Lani guesses they should've talked about it before now. Lani says she understands if that's a deal breaker for him and if it's that important to him then they probably shouldn't get married. Eli tells her that he's been waiting years to marry her. Lani points out that he's also been waiting to have a child and she doesn't know if she can give that to him. Eli stops her and says there is no deal breaker with them. Lani asks about him wanting to have a baby. Eli says he would be thrilled to have a baby with her because he thinks it would make their love even stronger but it's her choice and he will support whatever decision she makes.

Will suggests Sonny should be the biological dad because he already has a biological child. Sonny talks about a couple at the gym mixing their sperm so they wouldn't know who would come out as the biological father. Sonny suggests they could have twins and wants to leave it up to fate. Will just wants to provide a loving home for their kid and he thinks no family has more love to give than theirs.

Kayla tells Justin that she knows it's been tough on them since Steve came back but she's told him over and over that she loves him. Justin tells her that she doesn't need to answer him right now if she's not ready as he doesn't want to rush her and he will wait as long as it takes.

Hope tells Steve that she's known Kayla her entire adult life and that Kayla was angry when Steve pushed her away. Steve questions her saying she went to Justin to get over him. Hope insists that Kayla still loves him and that's why he can't give up on her. Steve points out that it's her decision not his. Hope argues that he's still trying to make the decision for her when Kayla deserves the chance to make her own decision. Steve is sure by now she has. Hope argues that she doesn't have all the facts as she didn't know how Steve felt. Steve points out that she knows how she feels. Hope states that loving Justin and getting married are two different things and the Kayla that she knows would never give her whole heart to another man when a huge part of it still belongs to Steve.

Kate says Abe enjoys the trappings of being mayor and calls it a power trip. Abe says he's trying to make a difference. Kate argues that they'll be out of a job if he doesn't rehab his image. Abe argues that his image is fine. Kate points out that he is under 40% in the latest polls which demands drastic measures. Abe feels it will take care of itself but Kate disagrees. Kate asks what's wrong with Abe basking in the glory of Steve and Hope's actions. Abe questions giving the key to the city to a woman who pushed her cousin off a rooftop and a man who kidnapped his own wife. Kate argues that everyone knows they weren't in control of their actions and that Abe is just being stubborn which he laughs at. Kate shows him that 67% of the people think so and remarks that now she knows why Sheila quit. Abe asks if she's offering to resign. Kate says no because she's not a quitter but says she will call off the keys to the city if he wants and then they will watch his numbers all go down.

Eli repeats to Lani that he will support her if her mind is made up that she doesn't want to have the child. Lani says she hasn't had time to process it but she knows how she felt when she saw the test. Eli tells her that they're allowed to have doubts. Eli encourages that she has time and that whatever she decides, he'll be there for her. Lani thanks him and says she would never make this decision lightly as she knows so many people are dying to have a child and can't.

Will offers to call Kayla to get some recommendations for fertility clinics. Sonny suggests they may be getting ahead of themselves. Sonny brings up Arianna with what Gabi is going through right now and they haven't told her that Gabi was arrested. Will talks about how a couple years ago Arianna wanted to be a big sister. Sonny says a lot has changed and he thinks Arianna likes being the center of their universe. Will thinks it would be good for her if she was a little less the center of everyone's universe as he thinks Arianna would be excited to be a sister. Will agrees they shouldn't get their hopes up until they know it's going to happen as it will be a long road with a lot of decisions. Sonny declares that they are having a baby together.

Rafe can't believe Zoey thinks she will win custody of David. Rafe warns that he will use everything he has against her, pointing out that she already has a kid that she can't look after. Rafe adds that she was an accessory to kidnapping, pulled a gun on him, and almost killed a cop. Rafe tells her that facts are facts and shooting a cop is not a good look in court. Zoey argues that she knows her way around the court room. Rafe warns that she will lose and if she doesn't stop now, she will leave him no choice but to tear her apart.

Abe informs Kate that he read all 273 pages of her research which surprises her. Abe tells her that he cares more about policy than PR but admits that her idea to honor Hope and Steve is not without merit. Abe tells her not to do anything like that again which she agrees to.

Zoey warns Rafe to not be so cocky when his background isn't squeaky clean either. Rafe says he'd put it against hers any day. Zoey brings up Rafe's sister being arrested, his father being a criminal, and his brother. Rafe responds that he's not involved in this. Zoey tells him that judges almost always rule in favor of the biological relative. Rafe argues that he's the only father that David has ever known and Zoey doesn't stand a chance in Hell. Zoey responds that they will find out in court.

Eli tells Lani that a baby is a blessing and raising a child with her would be a dream come true but he doesn't want to sway her as he wants her to make her choice and he will be with her no matter what. Lani cries that he's being so wonderful and she loves him so much. Eli hugs her and tells her not to cry as everything will be okay. Lani responds that she's crying because as scared as she is, she knows deep down in her heart that she wants to have this baby with him and there's nothing more that she wants. Eli hugs her and says he loves her so much.

Hope offers to drive Steve back to the hospital to see Kayla as they exit the Pub but Justin and Kayla then walk by. Hope asks how it's going. Kayla guesses they will be the first to hear their good news as she announces that she and Justin are engaged. Steve says he's happy for them both and shakes hands with Justin.
