John visits Victor in the hospital. Victor is surprised John isn't in the hospital himself after what Orpheus did to him. Victor questions how John let Orpheus get him anyways and remarks that he must be slipping. John questions Victor letting Brady believe his daughter was dead. John complains about Victor giving away his granddaughter and says if Victor thought he was going to get away with it, he must be the one who is really slipping.

Xander goes to Brady's room at the Salem Inn and accuses him of getting Victor to fire him. Brady says it was Victor's decision but Xander says Brady put him up to it and stole his job. Brady argues that Xander took the job from him so he took it back.

Marlena eats with Sonny and Will at the Brady Pub. Sonny decides to go so that Marlena and Will can have time to talk alone. Sonny tells Marlena that he's really glad John is okay as he then exits. Will can't believe they are eating lunch when yesterday there was a bomb underneath her sofa. Marlena is so glad the nightmare is over. Will is glad Orpheus didn't get someone else he loves.

Justin talks to Adrienne's grave, saying that he was reminded today that life is about seizing moments so he'd like to commit to Kayla. Justin says some people never find love while some people love for a lifetime. Justin has been blessed to love two incredible women. Justin hopes it is okay if he asks Kayla to be his wife. Justin remembers Adrienne joking with him that he could get married again if anything happened to her as long as she wasn't much younger than her or a redhead. Justin thought they had the whole world ahead of them. Justin doesn't know why he's asking for her blessing but wishes he had some way of knowing she was at peace with this.

Kayla tells Steve that she wasn't expecting him. Steve asks if they can talk. Kayla says sure so Steve sits at her desk. Kayla asks what he has on his mind. Kayla adds that she's grateful for him talking Justin out of shooting Orpheus. Kayla knows Justin wouldn't have been able to live with himself if he killed another human so she thanks Steve. Steve responds that he did it for her, not Justin.

Xander argues that he's been more of a grandson to Victor than Brady and that they were only thinking of Maggie and Sarah. Brady thinks he's underestimating what he did to him and Kristen and what they went through. Xander questions why Brady gave his little girl up if she's so precious to him.

Victor complains to John about Brady being tied to Kristen for the rest of his life. John says he didn't love it but he never thought to make them think their baby was dead. Victor asks about Maggie's happiness and peace of mind. John tells him that he was wrong about the accident so all he did for her was put her in prison. Victor regrets that and taking Brady's child. Victor adds that he never would've done it if Kristen wasn't involved. John questions that making it easier. Victor tells him that he's making it up now by firing Xander and making Brady CEO of Titan. John questions that making it up to his family. Victor says Brady insisted on the job. John thanks God that Victor's daughter Isabela isn't alive to see what he's done to Brady. John swears that he will rot in Hell for that. Victor then starts to have trouble breathing as his monitors go off and his heart rate increases.

Marlena tells Will that she's so happy to see him because she's missed their time together. Will thinks they should see each other more often. Eric and Nicole enter the Pub and greet them. Will congratulates them on their engagement. Eric is happy that other people are happy for them. Eric wanted to tell Roman in person but he's not there. Nicole brings up one family member that won't be throwing a wedding shower and that's Sami.

John tells Victor that there's no one at the nurses station so he'll get him some help whether he deserves it or not as he then exits the room.

Kayla questions Steve saying he talked Justin down for her. Steve says he knows how much Justin means to her so he didn't want to see her lose him. Kayla asks if he would've just let him shoot Orpheus otherwise. Steve tells her that it happened and it's over. Kayla asks what Steve came to tell her. Steve says he's been doing a lot of thinking and realized something but John interrupts to tell Kayla that Victor is crashing so she rushes out.

Justin remains at Adrienne's grave and talks about times when Adrienne was really mad. Justin wishes she had some way of saying if she thought this was the wrong move. Justin declares that he's asking for a sign. Sonny then arrives at the grave site. Justin thanks Adrienne.

Brady tells Xander that he didn't give Rachel up, she's with her mother. Xander argues that Kristen killed a nurse and drove a knife in Victor's chest. Brady blames Xander making her believe her child was dead. Xander brings up Kristen holding a gun to Marlena's head in the past and pretending to be Nicole. Brady argues that a child is the only thing Kristen has ever wanted. Xander brings up Kristen trying to steal Sarah's fetus and what she did to Theresa. Xander asks how Brady sleeps at night not knowing what Kristen is doing to their baby now. Brady argues that if he hadn't played God, they would be together raising their daughter. Xander questions him sticking up for her. Brady says Kristen is a woman who was lied to and a mother who had her heartbroken. Brady declares that he loves her with all his heart and tells Xander to get out. Xander remarks that Kristen stole his daughter. Brady says that's not how it happened and that Xander doesn't get it. Brady insists it was his choice because he loves Kristen and would do anything to make her happy. Xander then questions if he's so devoted to Kristen then why is he already in the sack with Sarah and realizes maybe he's not.

Nicole says that she and Sami made peace before she left Salem but then she ran into her the day Brady forced her to leave Eric and she made it clear that the good feelings were over for good. Nicole talks about her and Eric moving through that but guesses Sami is not ready. Nicole knows that Sami will think the engagement is a disaster but she refuses to beg for forgiveness when she was blackmailed. Eric points out that they have to tell her they are engaged. Eric hoped that Marlena would talk to her for them but Marlena says no then decides that Will should tell her. Will jokes that they can draw two straws. They all joke about it until Nicole pulls out her phone and decides she is calling Sami herself.

John goes back to Kayla's office where Steve asks how Victor is. John says he doesn't know as Kayla is still in with him. Steve asks if John was with him when it happened. John says he just found out what he did with Brady's daughter and couldn't let it slide so he let him have it and the next thing he knows, he's gasping for air and the alarms start going off. Steve tells him not to worry since guys like Victor don't die from getting upset. John points out that Victor survived a stroke and a knife to the chest this year alone so he figured he's survive him laying into him. John apologizes for breaking in on his conversation with Kayla and asks if everything is alright. John notes that they seemed pretty serious and asks if it's anything he wants to talk about. Steve admits to John that he was just about to tell Kayla that he wants her back.

Kayla tells Victor that she thinks he was having a panic attack and now his blood pressure should go down. Kayla asks if she's going to have to restrict his visitors. Victor tells her to just keep John out. Kayla knows John has some issues with him. Kayla suggests if someone upsets him, he ask them to leave. Victor asks when he can get out of the hospital as he wants to be there when Maggie gets out of prison which should be soon thanks to Justin. Kayla asks if he's sure now that Maggie knows about what he did since it could be stressful. Victor comments that Maggie, Brady, and Justin have been through Hell this year. Victor is thankful that Justin has Kayla or else he wouldn't have survived losing Adrienne. Victor doesn't know what Justin would've done without her so he thanks her.

Justin asks Sonny what made him come to Adrienne's grave. Sonny says he just woke up this morning thinking about his mom. Sonny guesses it must have been finding out that Maggie didn't cause the accident as he thinks that would give Adrienne some peace. They bet Adrienne has known all along it wasn't Maggie. Sonny suggests maybe that's why this mess was sorted out. Sonny asks if Justin came by for the same reason. Justin says he had something else to talk to her about. Sonny asks if he wants to tell him about it. Justin decides he was eventually going to ask Sonny so he might as well now. Justin then asks what Sonny would think about him proposing to Kayla.

Xander tells Brady that Sarah told him they had sex but she could've been lying. Brady tells him that what he and Sarah do is none of his business and adds that Sarah hates him. Sarah then walks in and joins Brady's side as he tells her about Xander thinking they are lying. Sarah reminds Xander that she found her in his bed. Xander argues that doesn't prove anything. Sarah asks if Xander wants proof and then starts kissing Brady in front of him. Sarah asks if Xander believes them now. Xander questions why she's doing this. Sarah says that Brady is a kind and decent man who would never con the people he loves. Xander argues that she's just trying to get to him. Brady remarks that Xander is cranky from losing his job. Sarah tells him to get out. Xander tells Sarah that he loves her and he's not giving up on her as he then exits.

John asks if Steve is serious about this. Steve tells him there's never been anyone for him but Kayla. John thought he said it was impossible for them to get back together. Steve says he decided it was a problem but not impossible and that in a way, John made him decide that.

Kayla tells Victor that he doesn't need to thank her for being with Justin. Victor repeats that Justin would've never survived losing Adrienne if not for her. Kayla doesn't think he gives him enough credit and says that Justin helped her just as much since she was in a pretty bad place. Victor remarks that Kayla is much better off with Justin instead of Steve. Kayla tells him not to talk negative about Steve. Victor brings up how many times he ran off on one of his missions and says Justin would never have done that. Victor adds that it's obvious how happy Justin makes her.

Sonny asks how long Justin has been thinking of getting married. Justin says not long but it's kind of in the air after Eli and Lani got engaged then Eric and Nicole got engaged. Justin adds that he sees how happy they are and knows life is short and can change in a heartbeat. Sonny says they both know that. Justin says he and Kayla love each other so he questions what they are waiting for. Justin tells Sonny that he asked Adrienne for a sign and then Sonny showed up a second later. Justin suggests that Adrienne sent Sonny because she can't answer his question, but he can. Justin asks Sonny if he would approve of him asking Kayla to marry him.

Nicole calls Sami and tells her that she and Eric are engaged. Nicole is surprised by her reaction and thanks her for wishing them well. Nicole sends her love to the kids and hangs up. Eric says that sounded like it went really well which Nicole confirms. Marlena and Will guess they underestimated her. Will suggests being with EJ mellowed out Sami. Eric then gets a text from Sami, asking if he's out of his mind which they laugh at.

Sarah tells Brady that she's sorry for not consulting with him first but Brady talks about how it felt good to stick it to Xander. Sarah says she gets how this is revenge against Xander but doesn't get how it will help Brady get even with Victor.

John asks Steve to walk him through how he made him decide that he wants Kayla back. Steve explains that Kate showed up to arrange a ceremony to give he and Hope keys to the city for saving John and Marlena from Orpheus. John asks how Kate could do that. Steve informs him that Abe made Kate his spokesperson which John questions. Steve suggests asking Abe and says the key thing made he and Hope realize they've been beating themselves up long enough. Steve says they didn't choose to be Stefano and Gina as their free will was taken from them so they are not going to let that dictate the rest of their lives. Steve wants to get on with his life. John asks about Kayla's life since he said he had disrupted it enough. Steve says that Hope said it was just his guilt that was keeping them apart. John argues that he knows that's not the only thing.

Sonny says it sounds like Justin is asking his permission to propose to Kayla. Justin says it's more like asking for a blessing since Adrienne can't speak for herself and his approval means everything. Justin asks what Sonny thinks. Sonny wants him to be happy and is sure that's what Adrienne wants too. Sonny says Kayla obviously makes him happy so he should go for it. Justin hugs him and says he loves him.

After Eric and Nicole leave the Pub, Will tells Marlena that they have to admire how Nicole's not afraid to stand up to Sami. Marlena thinks Sami knows Nicole is no pushover which is why she vented to Eric instead. Will comments that Eric and Nicole have been through a lot but they seem very happy together. They hope Sami doesn't try anything. Marlena adds that she's so glad to see Will and Sonny so happy together. Will feels like it's finally smooth sailing except for Gabi's current predicament. Marlena encourages that he and Sonny will handle that together and take care of Arianna. Will is so glad the truth about the car crash came out for Arianna, Maggie, and his sake. Will feels he and Sonny are finally back to where they were before that horrible night. Will remembers he and Sonny were talking about wanting another baby before then which excites Marlena.

Eric and Nicole walk through the town square together. Nicole jokes that they poked a hornet's nest with Sami. Eric assures no one can come between them as they kiss until Xander walks up and says he needs to talk to them. Xander tells Eric to tell Brady to back the hell away from Sarah. Eric asks what he's talking about.

John tells Steve that he knows Kayla is with Justin now and points out what he'd be doing if he made a play for her. Steve knows they can't pick up where they left off but they only got together because she was led to believe he didn't want her anymore. John says Kayla is basically off the market. Steve brings up that Hope said Kayla should decide who she wants to be with and that he shouldn't take himself out of the equation. John agrees that's a good point since if not for Dr. Rolf and Stefano, they'd still be together. Steve asks if that's a vote of confidence. John acknowledges that he owes him for saving his life. John adds that he thinks Steve and Hope should accept the keys to the city. Steve responds that all he wants is Kayla and he's going to get her.

Sonny goes home to the Kiriakis Mansion where Will is working in the living room. Will asks where Sonny went. Sonny tells him that he was visiting his mom's grave site and his dad was there too. Will asks if Justin is okay. Sonny says that Justin said something about life being too short and never knowing what's going to happen which got him thinking about having another baby. Will says let's do it.

Eric questions Xander about Brady and Sarah. Xander thinks maybe Brady is sleeping with Sarah and he doesn't like it. Eric says he doesn't know anything about that. Xander tells him to go to the Salem Inn and tell Brady that it's a bad idea. Nicole tells Xander to do it himself so he says he will and walks off. Eric tells Nicole that Brady and Sarah doesn't make sense. Nicole talks about Brady's love for Kristen. Eric guesses Brady is trying to get even with Xander by making him believe he's having an affair with Sarah. Nicole points out that she's done that before. Eric says if so, Brady's plan is obviously working.

Sarah tells Brady that they are partners so she asks how they are going to get even with Victor. Brady says that Titan is Victor's everything so since he killed his baby, it just seems right that he returns the favor. Sarah asks what he's going to do. Brady declares that he's going to slowly rip the company from the inside out and then bring Victor to his knees and then he will take him for everything he's worth.

John returns to Victor's room where Marlena is at his side. Marlena tells John that Victor was just telling her about how John tried to kill him. Victor remarks that it's good of John to come back to make sure he's not dead. John says he had to have a little talk with Steve. Victor asks when he's going to stop wasting his time with that loser. John responds that Steve saved his life yesterday along with Marlena. Victor argue that Steve let himself be turned into Stefano so Kayla is lucky to be rid of him. John tells him not to count Steve out just yet.

Justin goes to the hospital and greets Kayla. She asks what he's doing here. Justin then pulls out a ring and gets down on one knee. Justin knows it's sudden and they are in the middle of a hospital but he can't wait any longer as he loves her and wants to share the rest of his life with her. Justin proposes to Kayla as Steve comes around the corner and sees them.
