Orpheus tells Zoey that if she ever wants to see David again, she'll do as he says. Zoey says ok and she'll see him soon then hangs up. Rafe questions if that was her father but Zoey claims it was Christian. Rafe thought he didn't want to talk to her. Zoey claims that he changed his mind and wants to see her now so she has to leave. Rafe asks her to ask him about what they talked about earlier. Zoey agrees to find out if he can help find David in any way as she then exits. Hope asks Rafe if he bought a word of that.

Eric is at Julie's Place when Abe walks in and greets him. Eric reveals to Abe that he plans to propose to Nicole at dinner tonight. Eric mentions planning to a few months ago but life got complicated. Abe tells him he's sorry to hear about Rachel as he knows how painful it is to give up a child you raised as your own. Eric knows he's truly blessed to have Nicole and Holly in his life. Abe wishes him luck. Eric knows Abe and Nicole are very close so when they do get married, he asks Abe if he will perform the ceremony. Abe tells him that it would be his honor. Kate overhears them and tells Eric that he's making a huge mistake marrying Nicole.

Rafe tells Hope that if Christian was on the phone, Zoey would've had to say she accepted the call from the prison which she didn't do so it had to be someone else. Hope guesses it was Orpheus so they rush out.

Marlena comes over and questions Steve thinking there's no way of getting John back alive. Steve says it may be what Orpheus has in mind but he can out maneuver him and he won't let him hurt John. Marlena asks what if he's already hurt John. Kayla declares that if Steve says he can bring John back, he will. Marlena can't stand waiting. She then gets a call from Orpheus, who tells her that it's showtime. Orpheus tells Marlena to meet him in the park outside of the town square in 30 minutes. He tells her no cops and warns her not to try to pull anything this time. Marlena says she won't but notes that he won't get a dime until she knows John is safe. Orpheus says he dictates the terms and hangs up. Kayla tells them to be careful. Justin stops them and decides he's going with them. Steve worries that he could get in the way but Justin shouts that Orpheus killed his wife so he's going with them. Steve tells him no.

Orpheus wakes John up and tells him it's time for a field trip as they are going to make the exchange. John says he knows how he operates and that it won't be a simple exchange so he asks what he has in store for him. Orpheus says that will become clear very soon. Orpheus says he has nothing to worry about and he wouldn't want to spoil all the fun.

Eric tells Kate that he and Abe were having a private conversation and it's none of her business. Kate responds that it is her business so Abe explains that he hired Kate as his new director of communications. Abe steps aside with Kate and tells her to defer to him in all personal matters and orders her to apologize to Eric. Kate says she was just being protective of a good friend's son because Eric seems to have forgotten Nicole's past and that she kept him from the child he thought was his daughter. Eric tells her to stop. Kate repeats that he deserves better than Nicole. Nicole then enters and questions what's going on here.

Justin repeats that Orpheus is the reason Adrienne is dead so he needs to be there to make sure he is brought to justice. Steve says he is as angry as he is and promises to make sure Orpheus pays the price. Steve adds that they have to play by Orpheus rules and he said Marlena has to come alone. Justin questions Steve going with her then. They explain that Orpheus knows Marlena already involved Steve so he's expecting him. Steve says they can't even involve the cops. Justin worries that he may need backup. Steve insists he was trained for this. Kayla knows how much Justin wants to be there but he doesn't want to risk people's safety.

Zoey goes to where Orpheus has John. Rafe and Hope run up behind her but the door is locked so they go to look for another way in

Nicole asks why Eric and Kate were arguing. Kate says that Eric just didn't take her friendly advice well. Nicole asks what the advice was about. Kate claims that Eric just asked Abe to host the Horton Center fundraiser but she told him that he's all booked and that he should run it by her at least six months in advance. Nicole questions why so Kate reveals to her that she is Abe's new Director of Communications. Nicole tells Abe that hiring Kate was a big mistake.

Justin reluctantly agrees to stay behind but tells Steve not to let Orpheus walk. Steve assures that he has no intention of letting him get away but they have to make sure that John and David come home safe. Justin says to keep them posted while Kayla tells them to be careful.

Rafe and Hope can't find another way in. Hope suggests calling backup but Rafe says no because there's no telling Orpheus would do to David or John then. Rafe can't believe Zoey did this to them. Hope points out that he said earlier that he had no choice to trust her. Rafe says it was obviously all an act. Hope says they have to find a way inside. Rafe decides he will call the I.T. guys at the police station to try and figure out a way to short circuit the lock.

Orpheus tells John that he will miss their time together, reconnecting. John remarks that he's still holding a grudge. Orpheus argues that John killed his wfie and shot him on the island, leaving his kids without parents. John responds that his kids are better off without him, just like David will be. Orpheus warns him not to say a word about his grandson. John says if he really cared about David, he'd leave him in Salem because Rafe will be a hell of a lot better father than he could ever be. Orpheus informs John that he wants more than money, he wants the family John stole from him all those years ago. Orpheus declares that now finally with David, he can finally have that. Orpheus says that's the plan and it's not up for debate so they need to get going. John questions if he's going to leave David here all by himself. Orpheus responds that he made sure David will be well taken care of. There's a knock on the door which Orpheus calls perfect timing.

Kate questions Nicole saying it was a mistake for Abe to hire her and argues that it was a brilliant move. Nicole brings up Kate's past but Eric tells her to respect Abe's decision. Abe suggests to Kate that they get to work and let Eric and Nicole enjoy their evening so they walk away. Nicole apologizes to Eric for saying anything and calls it infuriating how Kate always lands on her feet. Nicole questions why Abe would want her to work for him. Eric says he doesn't know and they agree to forget it and enjoy the rest of their evening.

Zoey goes looking for David but Rafe and Hope get in. Rafe draws his gun and orders her to freeze, pointing out that she lied to him. Zoey says she can explain but Rafe tells her to forget it as he's getting David. Zoey then pulls her gun and says she can't let him do that.

Justin complains to Kayla that he hates standing around waiting. Kayla encourages him to be patient. Justin worries about Marlena and Steve making the exchange then Orpheus getting away free. Justin swears he doesn't know what he will do if that happens.

Marlena and Steve go to the park outside the town square. Steve assures that they've got this and tells her to follow his lead. Orpheus arrives with John at gunpoint. Marlena asks if John is alright. John says he's just happy to see her. Orpheus is not happy to see she brought Steve with her but he's not surprised. Steve points out that he wouldn't let Marlena meet him alone. Orpheus says he'll let it slide this time but now they do it his way, or John dies.

Zoey orders Rafe to drop his gun so he does. Rafe tells her to let Hope go and warns that she's already in enough trouble as it is. Zoey says she won't hurt Hope unless he forces her to. Rafe questions what happened to her, pointing out that she came to him for help about how dangerous her father is. Rafe accuses her of playing him all along but Zoey swears that she was completely upfront with him. Rafe points out that she told him her brother was on the phone when it was actually her father. Rafe asks what Orpheus wanted. Zoey tells him that he wanted her to help with David and not give her a choice. Rafe argues that she could've told him the truth but Zoey tells him that he doesn't understand, revealing that Orpheus has her son and if she doesn't do what he says, she might never see her little boy again.

Kayla assures Justin that Steve will do everything in his power to bring Orpheus to justice. Justin thanks her for being his rock and goes to get them some tea. Kayla comment to herself that she's counting on Steve and hopes he's careful.

Steve tells Orpheus that all they want is to bring John home safe. Marlena assures that he will have his money. Orpheus says the money is first. Steve explains that the bank app on Marlena's phone is setup to transfer the funds to his account. Steve pulls out her phone and says the money is transferred so all he has to do is accept from his phone. Orpheus pulls out his phone and completes the transaction so he then gives them John. Orpheus says it was nice doing business with them and tells them to have a nice life. Steve then pushes a button on the phone that zaps Orpheus and causes him to fall to the ground.

Kate tells Abe that she's scheduled another press conference tomorrow morning about Orpheus. Abe points out that they don't have any updates. Kate says maybe they will by then and he needs to assure everyone they are safe. Abe is sure that Rafe and the police are closing in on Orpheus as they speak. Kate calls that wishful thinking so she will keep her fingers crossed. Kate gives him a copy of his speech for tomorrow and says he can let her know if he needs any changes. Abe admits that he's impressed as she's already proving to be a real asset after only a few days. Kate is glad he feels that way and that he didn't let Eric and Nicole rethink his opinion to hire her. Abe adds that if they are going to continue to have a decent working relationship, he needs her to stop offering her opinions about other peoples' lives. Kate agrees to try and apologizes for blurting out to Eric but him proposing to Nicole shocked her so she wanted to remind him of what he's getting back into with her. Abe questions Kate thinking she could talk him out of it with insults. Abe insists that it's none of her business and that all she did was antagonize Eric. Abe states that Eric loves Nicole and her daughter. Kate says she was just trying to help him but she will keep her mouth shut. Kate still believes Eric is making the worst mistake of his life.

Nicole finishes a call with the babysitter and tells Eric that Holly just went to bed so he now has her full attention. Eric is glad because there is something important he wants to discuss with her that can't wait any longer. Eric reminds her about planning to have dinner and talk a few months ago and then she had to leave to New York and came back with the news about Rachel. Nicole says she hated giving him that news. Eric is glad she told him the truth and talks about how patient and supportive she has been. Eric says it reminded him that he still had her and Holly in his life. Eric calls them his family and now he wants to make it official. Eric then gets down on one knee and proposes to Nicole. Nicole accepts and they kiss. Kate comments to Abe that there's no turning back now and that Eric is doomed. Nicole can't believe this is happening. Eric tells her that his dreams are finally coming true. Nicole declares that they defied all odds and triumphed over every obstacle. Eric recalls the first time he saw her 20 years ago and says he's only had eyes for her ever since. Nicole feels she didn't deserve him and calls him the most wonderful man she's ever met while she is flawed in so many ways. Nicole promises to always try to be someone worthy of his love. Eric tells her that she already is all he ever wanted. They say they love each other and then kiss.

Hope questions Orpheus having Zoey's son. Zoey explains that Orpheus sent her a picture and that he kidnapped him from her ex-husband. Rafe says he'll get her son back if she lets him help her but Zoey says she can't because if she betrays Orpheus again, he'll make good on his promise. Zoey says she tried to keep her son away from Orpheus for years and she only came to Salem to help her brother but that's all gone to Hell. Zoey argues that they have no idea what her father is capable of. Hope argues that they do so they know how to help her. Hope tells her to let Rafe get David and then they will figure it out. Zoey says she's sorry but she has to think about her son. Zoey suggests they go now and then she'll figure out where Orpheus is going and then she will tell him as soon as she gets her son back. Rafe refuses to leave without David. Zoey warns that if Orpheus finds them here, he's going to kill them. Rafe says they have to work together and promises to get her son back to her safely. Rafe points out that he trusted her so now she needs to trust him.

Kayla thinks back to Steve saving her from Orpheus in the past until Justin comes back with their tea. Justin feels they should've heard from Steve by now so he hopes nothing went wrong.

Steve takes Orpheus' gun and checks that he's still breathing. Steve warns his unconscious body that he will someday make him pay for killing his sister. John questioned what he did. Steve explains that Shane hooked him up with a hi-tech phone from the ISA and once it interfaced with Orpheus' phone, he was able to transmit an electric shock. John thanks Steve for coming through. Marlena is so glad John is safe as they kiss. Steve says he could use some help getting Orpheus down to the police station. John says he'll be with him in a second as he kisses Marlena.

Abe and Kate go over to Eric and Nicole as Abe wanted to congratulate them as he's happy for both of them. Nicole thanks him. Kate agrees with what he said. Eric informs Nicole that Abe agreed to perform the ceremony earlier. Nicole can't think of anyone she'd rather have do the honors. Kate says that's if he doesn't have any prior engagement. Abe assures he will clear his calendar as they just have to tell him when and where. Nicole says it can't happen soon enough for her as she's waited half her life to marry him. Kate remarks that who knows what can split them up in this town as she walks away.

Marlena goes to the police station and calls Kayla to tell her that they are all fine and Steve was masterful. Marlena informs her that Orpheus is now behind bars. Marlena says she'll talk to her soon and hangs up as John and Steve join her. Marlena tells them that Kayla and Justin are on their way. Marlena doesn't imagine Orpheus will be too happy when he comes to and realizes he's lost. Steve declares that he'll be back in a cage soon, permanently this time. Marlena asks about Rafe. Steve says he just left him a message so hopefully he'll be here soon. Steve suggests John and Marlena go home while he keeps an eye on Orpheus. Marlena asks about David. John says he gave the cops the location of the hideout so they are on their way now. John doesn't think David's in any immediate danger since Orpheus got his daughter watching him. Marlena thought Zoey turned against her father. John doesn't know all the details but felt that she was an unwilling accomplice so they could trust her.

Rafe assure Zoey that he will do whatever he can to protect her son. Zoey questions how he can do that when she has no idea where Orpheus is holding him. Rafe understands she's scared but they both want the same thing. Rafe reiterates that they just have to work together. Rafe asks her to just put the gun down. Hope then charges Zoey and they struggle over the gun. They fight until the gun goes off..

Justin and Kayla go to the police station where Steve explains how he zapped Orpheus. Kayla is thankful that John and Marlena are safe and he's no longer a threat. Justin wants to see Orpheus. Kayla doesn't think that's a good idea. Justin says he just wants to confront him about what he did to Adrienne. Steve says he doesn't have the authority to give him permission. Justin says he will at least talk to the district attorney to make sure he throws the book at him. Steve tells Kayla that it took everything in him not to kill Orpheus on the spot for causing Adrienne's death. Kayla is glad it all worked out.

Justin enters the interrogation room to confront Orpheus. Justin asks if he knows who he is. Orpheus calls him Victor's ineffectual nephew and asks what the hell he wants. Justin pulls out a gun and states that Orpheus killed his wife so he's here to return the favor.

Abe informs Kate that he just got word that Orpheus was apprehended. Kate wants to get him in front of a news camera right away so he can get credit.

Nicole can't wait to share their news with the world. Eric suggests they go tell John and Marlena. Nicole agrees and they exit together.

Marlena and John go home where Marlena takes care of him and says she was so worried about him. John says he's still worried because Orpheus made it seem like he has some sort of surprise up his sleeve. Marlena doesn't think he planned on being outsmarted by Steve so there's nothing he can do to them now. John remains unsure. Marlena assures that Orpheus is in custody so he can't get to them anymore. They sit together, not knowing that there is a bomb under the couch counting down..
