Days of Our Lives Update Wednesday 4/29/20

Kayla informs Steve that the eye specialist called and did not have good news so she's afraid his eye is damaged beyond repair. Steve says it's not like he hasn't been through this before. Kayla then offers his traditional eye patch to him. Kayla adds that she was so hopeful they would be able to fix his eye. Steve knew chances were slim to none but thanks her.

Zoey tells Christian that she has to know everything with he and Orpheus so she can be prepared for what they could be hit with. Zoey tells Christian that unless he's prepared to lose his son forever, he needs to tell her what they were talking about. Zoey promises not to tell Orpheus that he told her. Christian says it had nothing to do with David or the custody case. Zoey asks if it had to do with Jordan's murder but Christian says no. Zoey assures that he can trust her after everything they've been through together. Zoey insists that she can help him so Christian gives in and informs her that he and Orpheus did something horrible..

In the town square, Orpheus asks John if he wants to see his son locked up. Marlena says they want Orpheus out of their lives. Orpheus questions if John can afford to walk away when he's offering to help Brady go free. John decides to ask Orpheus to tell him how he thinks he can help his son.

Abigail asks what is not normal and what the test results said. Chad reveals that somebody drugged her. Jack questions that. Abigail is relieved to know that she's not losing her mind again. Chad confirms that the hallucinations were caused by whatever was in her system so someone did this to her, deliberately.

Gabi goes to Rafe's office and tells him that she needs his help as she has a confession to make.

Jack asks what kind of monster would do this to Abigail. Chad and Abigail conclude that there's only one person who hates Abigail enough to make her think she was losing her mind again, who had the motive and the means so Jack asks who.

Gabi explains to Rafe that they had a visit last night from Li Shin, who came to tell them that Chad is the new CEO of DiMera. Rafe tells Gabi that he's sorry. Gabi couldn't believe they would give Chad control over the entire company and complains about how Chad was gloating. Rafe suggests it could be good news and less stressful so Gabi could focus on Gabi Chic but Gabi reveals that they kicked her out of her own company. Rafe asks how they could do that. Gabi tells him about going to her store but it was locked so she couldn't get in. Gabi argues that she saw them celebrating so she couldn't let them get away with that. Rafe questions what she did to them.

Kayla offers to change Steve's bandage and clean his wound but he tells her that she can just get a nurse. Kayla points out that she's already here so he won't have to wait any longer. Kayla asks Hope to go get a coffee and come back in 30 minutes so Hope exits. Steve thanks Kayla for doing this. Kayla says she knows how big of a deal it is for him. Steve comments on only a couple people seeing under his eye over the years. Kayla acknowledges that it's part of him and says she could never have a hard time looking at him.

Zoey can't believe what Christian tells her and says it's worse than she imagined. Christian adds that it wasn't his idea and he never wanted any part of it but Orpheus pressured him and wouldn't take no for an answer. Zoey argues that he didn't have to say yes. Christian says he was in a bad place. Christian notes that Orpheus said he was the only one who could help him with David so that meant he had to help him out too. Christian guesses he's not a strong person because he did exactly what Orpheus asked him to do, and he's regretted it ever since.

John asks Orpheus what his proposition is and why he wants to help him with his son. Orpheus says he empathizes since his own son Christian has been accused of strangling Jordan. Marlena points out that Christian confessed to it. Orpheus argues that he confessed because Ciara had a gun on him so it's worthless. John asks what it has to do with Brady. Orpheus points out that Brady confessed as well to stabbing Victor and no one had a gun to his head. John asks what his point is. Orpheus says that he and John have been enemies in the past. Marlena argues that they still are but Orpheus declares that right now they are just two fathers trying to protect their children. Orpheus remarks that as far as he's concerned, they could pin a medal on Brady for stabbing Victor since he's the most corrupt and selfish son of a bitch to ever walk the earth so he's glad he's finally getting his comeuppance without walking away free. Marlena argues that Orpheus is the one walking away after all his crimes. Marlena and John decide they are done here but Orpheus warns that if something bad happens with Brady, he doesn't think John will be able to forgive himself for turning down his offer. John stops and questions if he just threatened him.

Jack asks how Chad and Abigail think Gabi might have drugged Abigail. They explain that they were celebrating with champagne then Gabi showed up. Abigail says that Gabi was the one losing it as she flashes back to that moment. Chad guesses she was distracting them while she grabbed the champagne bottle and slipped something into Abigail's glass. Jack wants to call the police but Chad decides he's going to handle it and exits the room.

Gabi informs Rafe that she broke the lock to the Gabi Chic store. Rafe questions why and if Chad wouldn't allow her in. Gabi admits Chad gave her permission to go inside so Rafe asks why she broke it. Gabi argues that she doesn't trust Chad and Abigail. Rafe asks what was so important that she had to get that night. Gabi says she has a lot of personal belongings in there and was not about to let Chad and Abigail take everything from her so she did what she had to do. Rafe guesses that breaking into the store isn't the only thing she did..

Kayla cleans out Steve's wounded eye. He thanks her. She asks him how he's doing. Steve says he's okay and just ready for the next chapter. Kayla offers to put his eye patch on but Steve says he can handle it as he then puts it on. Kayla comments on him being his old self again. Steve looks in the mirror and says he can't quite believe it.

Orpheus tells John that he's not threatening anyone, he's just offering to help. Orpheus suggests with one call to the right person, Brady could be free by tomorrow. John questions if it's so easy then why didn't he make that call for his own son who is up on murder charges. Orpheus says that's a bit more complicated and he's still working on that. John asks what Orpheus wants in return if he takes him up on his offer.

Jack asks Abigail if she's alright, knowing how scary it must have been for her. Abigail repeats that she's relieved to know she's not losing her mind again. Jack knows a lot of things happened while he was gone and they haven't had a chance to talk about it much. Abigail says it's okay as she doesn't like to revisit it too often. Abigail calls it the worst time of her life as she nearly lost her family and herself but she got treatment and she's been strong and stable ever since. Jack tells her that he's proud of her. Abigail admits it wasn't easy and took a lot of work and patience from her family but she did it. Jack doesn't understand Gabi since years ago they were such good friends and asks how it went so wrong.

Rafe asks Gabi how many times they have talked about her doing something crazy and illegal then she comes running to him for help. Gabi claims this time is different. Rafe says it's always someone else's fault for provoking her. Gabi questions if he's not going to help her. Rafe argues that she thinks because he's her brother and a cop that he should do whatever it takes to bail her out. Rafe complains about all the times that he's defended her and that he even went to jail for her. Rafe adds that she always apologizes and promises not to do it again but then she always does. Gabi argues that they fired her. Rafe screams at her to stop and says he can't take this anymore. Rafe says it's like Gabi acts then thinks about it later. Gabi complains that they were trying to destroy her. Rafe repeats that doesn't mean she can do whatever she wants then come running to him to bail her out. Chad then enters the office.

Steve knows the chip is gone and he thinks he's back in control but who he was and what he did still haunts him. Kayla encourages that he's Steve Johnson again so he doesn't have to carry the burden of the last few months any longer as that's over. Steve responds that it's not over for him because he hurt so many people including his friends and family. Kayla assures that everybody has let it go but him. Steve says he's trying but he can't let it go because these images keep flashing across his mind like memories that aren't his. Kayla thinks he will have to choose to let them go and put it in the past. Steve asks how to do that. Kayla tells him to forgive himself for everything. Hope then comes back in and asks if she's interrupting.

Abigail explains to Jack that she and Gabi never really recovered from everything that happened when Gabi fell in love with Chad. Jack guesses that would make things complicated. Abigail reminds Jack that she told him everything that happened and goes over Chad thinking she was dead while Gabi comforted him then everything being okay when she came back until it wasn't. Abigail says she had her whole D.I.D. episode and did what she did to Andre then Gabi went to prison. Jack recalls Gabi being beaten in prison and now she can't have children which is why she can't forgive Abigail. Abigail admits it's sort of hard for her to forgive herself for that but Gabi convinced everyone that she was losing her mind again and had Chad send her to Bayview while nobody believed her. Jack apologizes for not being there for her. Abigail says she got through it and feels stronger because of it. Jack tells her that she's always been strong, even when she doesn't know it. Abigail tells him that what Gabi is trying to do won't work now because she and Chad are way too strong and could never be in the vulnerable place they were when Gabi wrecked their lives. Abigail adds that now everyone knows what Gabi is capable of.

Rafe asks Chad if he can help him. Chad responds that he came to press charges against Gabi. Gabi questions for what. Rafe tells Chad that Gabi already told him about the store and she's very sorry that she did it so he tells Chad to give her break after a rough year since she's lost her husband, her job, and now her business. Rafe is sure that Gabi is more than willing to pay for it. Chad shouts that he doesn't give a damn about the lock to the store so Rafe asks what this is about then. Chad then declares that Gabi drugged his wife.

Christian tells Zoey that he know he's made a lot of terrible mistakes. She encourages that she's here to help him now. Christian worries that he shouldn't have told her what he and Orpheus did and reminds her that she has to keep it confidential no matter what. Zoey assures that she would never tell anyone because what happened has to stay buried forever since if someone else found out, he could lose a lot more than just custody of his son..

Orpheus tells John that he's not in the habit of giving something for nothing so if he agrees to accept his help with Brady, then he will tell him his terms and they'll make a deal. Orpheus decides to give him time to think about it but suggests he doesn't delay so that Brady isn't railroaded the way they are trying to railroad his son. Marlena points out that his son is guilty. Orpheus says that he could lose his son like John could lose Brady and Brady could lose his children. Orpheus tells John to think about it and he looks forward to speaking with him soon. John and Marlena then walk away.

Zoey gets a phone call and tells Christian that she has to head to the courthouse as there's been a ruling on Rafe's restraining order so she will keep him posted. Christian stops her and tells her that Orpheus can't find out that he told her what they did or he could totally turn on him and they both know what that would mean. Orpheus then comes back around the corner.

Hope apologizes and says she'll come back later but Kayla says they are done. Steve asks about getting discharged. Kayla agrees to go get the paper work ready and exits. Hope comments on Steve's patch being back and says he must be relieved to be getting out of the hospital. Steve responds that he doesn't really have a place to go. Hope is sure Jack and Jennifer would love to have him stay there but Steve doesn't want to get in their way as he doesn't feel comfortable imposing on anyone. Steve feels like a man without a country as he doesn't belong anywhere. Hope responds that she knows exactly how he feels.

Gabi questions Chad saying she drugged Abigail. Rafe asks what he's talking about. Chad explains that Abigail is in the hospital now after suffering severe hallucinations. Gabi argues against it being her fault and shouts that Abigail is a nutcase. Chad shouts that she was drugged. Rafe asks why he thinks Gabi did it. Chad brings up all the times Gabi has sworn that she didn't do anything wrong. Gabi calls him insane and tells him to shut up. Rafe sees that Chad is upset but asks why he thinks Abigail was drugged. Chad reveals the test results that prove hallucinogenic drugs were found in Abigail's system.

Orpheus questions what Christian and Zoey were talking about. Zoey says nothing and that she has to get back to work so she will call when she needs something. Christian thanks her as she exits. Orpheus asks if Zoey was pressuring him to tell her everything that might be used against their family in court. Christian says she's just trying to be a good lawyer and doing everything she can to get David back to her. Orpheus asks if he's saying he's not. Christian says he knows he is. Orpheus responds that he may have made some progress in that regard as he laid the groundwork to turn some old enemies into potential allies in a new dynamic that may benefit them all.

John and Marlena go home. Marlena says if it were up to her, she'd never have anything to do with Orpheus ever again. John comments on keeping your enemies closer sometimes. Marlena asks if John is really thinking of accepting his help with Brady. John says of course not as he doesn't think Orpheus would give his help anyways. Marlena asks why he's humoring him then. John thinks it might be smart to play along and let him think he's desperate enough to take him up on his offer to find out what he's really up to.

Jack asks Abigail where Chad is and what she thinks he went to do. Abigail knows he'll be back soon and that he will have answers. Abigail talks about her and Chad being through a lot but she knows his heart and that he would do anything for her. Jack calls her fortunate to have someone like that in her life. Abigail says it gives them the strength to face any obstacle, including Gabi.

Rafe looks over the test results and confirms that Abigail was drugged but says that doesn't prove Gabi did it. Chad explains that right before Abigail's first hallucination, Gabi confronted them at Julie's Place to blame them for her losing her job and while she was lashing out, she grabbed the champagne bottle so Abigail's glass was obviously spiked. Gabi says it wasn't by her. Rafe asks if he has proof. Chad argues that Gabi had the opportunity while she was distracting them. Rafe says he's going to need more. Chad complains that Gabi has done this before. Gabi asks why she would do it now. Chad brings up her being upset that he became CEO. Rafe promises to look into this but says there's no way he can charge her for a crime right now. Chad says he should've known Rafe would protect his sister. Chad warns Rafe to do his job or he'll do it for him as he then exits the office. Gabi remarks on wondering if Chad or Abigail is crazier and thanks Rafe for backing her up. Rafe tells her that Chad is gone now so he has to ask if she drugged Abigail. Gabi says of course she didn't. Rafe asks her to swear on Arianna's life. Gabi questions him asking her to do that. Rafe says she shouldn't have a problem if she's innocent. Zoey enters and says she just came from the courthouse. Rafe tells her they are in the middle of something but Gabi says they are done and thanks him. Rafe tries to stop her but Gabi thanks him for his support and exits. Zoey tells Rafe they are alone now. Rafe says now is not a good time but Zoey says he will want to hear this as it concerns he and David. Zoey informs Rafe that his restraining order against Orpheus and Christian was just tossed out by the judge so it seems he has no choice but to allow for visitation. Zoey says she and Justin will work out the details. Rafe argues that it's putting David in danger. Zoey responds that they are his family. Rafe refuses to stop protecting him. Zoey tells him to face that he lost this round and he should prepare to lose the next one too. Zoey adds that she looks forward to seeing him in court where she plans to be awarded custody of her nephew. They wish each other luck as Zoey then exits the office.

Hope wheels Steve out of his hospital room in a wheelchair. Kayla gives him the release paper to sign and says he'll be a free man. Steve signs it and returns it to Kayla. Kayla asks if Steve knows where he'll be staying since the kids want to know. Steve informs her that Hope invited him to stay with her so that's where he will be. Hope points out that he had no where else to go. Kayla calls it generous of her and says she'll let the kids know. Steve tells her not to worry about it as he will be in touch with them. Steve thanks Kayla for everything and says he will see her around as Hope then wheels him out of the hospital.

Chad returns to Abigail's hospital room and tells her and Jack that Gabi denied it and Rafe backed her up or at least acted like he believed her. Jack questions if Rafe will cover up for what his sister did. Chad says he can try but he won't get away with it because if the police don't do something about Gabi, he will.

Gabi walks through the town square and sees Jake, who looks exactly like Stefan, standing in front of the Bistro.
