Justin enters Steve's room at the hospital and tells him it's time for them to have a talk. Justin says he talked to Sonny. Steve says he wanted to give his condolences as he can't believe his sister is gone. Steve apologizes for not being there. Justin thanks him and says he knows how much he loved Adrienne and how hard it is for him to come to terms with her death. Justin adds that he's actually here to talk to him about Kayla.

Jennifer goes to the hospital and sees Kayla crying so she asks what's wrong. Kayla tells her that she's just a mess as Jennifer hugs her and asks what happened. Kayla informs her that Steve and Justin both love her and she doesn't know what to do about it.

Marlena wakes up to John bringing her breakfast in bed. Marlena says she has a lot to do but he always knows what she needs. John adds that there is something they need to talk about as Orpheus is back.

Rafe goes home and is shocked to find Orpheus sitting inside. Rafe pulls his gun and threatens to shoot him if he moves.

Christian tries to talk to David but Ben grabs him by the throat while Ciara yells for him to stop.

Marlena thought Orpheus was dead and can't believe he's back but John confirms that he is. Marlena brings up seeing Steve shoot him and Orpheus being pronounced dead. John wishes that were true.

Rafe handcuffs Orpheus and tells Orpheus that he's not going to lay siege to this town on his watch so he's taking him to jail. Orpheus suggests he make a phone call before he makes a big mistake.

Ciara stops Ben from choking Christian. Ciara says she just got him back and she's not ready to lose him again. Christian calls him a psycho. Ciara holds Ben back and says he's not worth it. Ben tells Ciara that she needs to take David back to Rafe now. Ciara doesn't want to leave him but Ben insists so she walks away.

Kayla tells Jennifer that Steve actually asked her if she slept with Justin last night and guessed that she didn't. Kayla talks about being exhausted. Jennifer asks if she wants to be with Steve instead of Justin. Kayla says she doesn't know as she finally put her and Steve in the past while she had a present and future being happy with Justin.

Steve tells Justin that he's happy to talk about Kayla as she's all he has been thinking about. Steve confirms he plans to fight for her. Justin agrees that she's worth fighting for. Steve guesses doing the right thing and stepping aside is not his plan. Justin feels doing the right thing is what's best for Kayla. Steve questions him thinking that is him which Justin confirms. Steve argues that he and Kayla loved each other for decades and have children together. Justin says everyone knows their love story so he's here to tell him his and Kayla's. Justin tells Steve that Kayla was lost and the night Adrienne was killed was like he fell off a cliff. Steve understands that Kayla was there. Justin says it turned out she needed him just as much as he needed her. Justin talks about taking Kayla to a jazz band concert and tells Steve about the date they had. Justin states that their love was made up of rescues as they saved each other from heartache and loneliness which brought them together.

Kayla talks to Jennifer about how Justin saved her and she knows his love for her is real. Kayla brings up her history and family with Steve. Kayla knows Steve wants their life back. Jennifer says she keeps talking about how Steve and Justin feel but now how she feels.

Rafe calls Eli and is shocked to find out that the kidnapping charges have been dropped.

John explains to Marlena that after Orpheus was shot, the ISA moved him to a private location to recover because Pamela Van Dam thought Orpheus had critical information so she protected him and pardoned him for all his crimes. Marlena asks why he's back in Salem.

Ben tells Christian that he was just protecting his nephew from the man who murdered his mother. Christian argues that David has a right to know he is his father. Ben wants David in a loving, happy, stable home and warns Christian to leave him alone. Christian says that's not going to happen.

John informs Marlena that Christian is Orpheus' son and Orpheus tried to kidnap his grandson but he was caught and is back in federal custody. Marlena worries about if he makes a deal or escapes and comes after her again. John assures that she's safe as he will always protect her.

Kayla tells Jennifer that with Steve it was a crazy love but with Justin she feels safe and happy. Jennifer asks who is by her side when she sees her future and who is the man she's choosing to move forward with. Kayla admits she doesn't know and never thought she'd have to choose between Steve and another man but Justin has made the choice very difficult.

Steve tells Justin that he knows what it's like to fall in love with Kayla and it looks like Justin fell hard. Steve appreciates he was there to take care of Kayla when she was in pain but he's back and she's his wife. Steve argues that the divorce will never hold up in court and he's back in control of his body and mind. Justin asks if he's sure that Stefano is long gone. Steve assures that Kayla and Marlena have checked him out. Justin brings up how he hurt a lot of people. Steve says he will make it right with John and Marlena. Justin asks what about what he did to Kayla which Steve questions.

John wishes he could stay in bed with Marlena all day but he's worried about Steve. Marlena understands he wants to be there for him. John doesn't want to leave Marlena alone today. Marlena responds that she'll be fine if Orpheus is behind bars. Marlena adds that she's having a lot of work sent over to catch up with. John agrees to leave and goes to shower.

Christian questions Ben telling him to stay away from his kid and mocks him being a role model. Christian calls him the neck tie killer. Ben admits he's no role model but Rafe is and he's the only father David knows. Ben wants to make sure to keep it that way.

Rafe removes the handcuffs from Orpheus and says he doesn't know how he pulled it off but the ISA says he's untouchable. Orpheus remarks that it pays to have friends in high places. Rafe says he won't for long if he has anything to say about it. Orpheus doesn't understand why he's so worked up. Rafe points out that Orpheus broke in to his house. Orpheus comments on being disappointed that David wasn't there. Rafe suggests he leave. Orpheus brings up working out visitation. Rafe says there will be none. Orpheus talks about wanting to spend time with his grandson. Ciara then arrives with David. Orpheus says he's been waiting to tell David who he is. Ciara interrupts. Orpheus talks about knowing Ciara dragged his son in to the prison at gun point. Ciara says she won't let him near David. Rafe warns Orpheus to get out of his house. Orpheus says he has something to do anyways. Orpheus tells David he'll see him soon as he exits.

Christian tells Ben that he's not going to let anybody come between him and his kid. Ben says he won't scare him off and warns him. Zoey interrupts and orders Ben to step away from her client.

Justin questions Kayla not telling Steve what he did to her. Justin feels he should hear it from her but Steve says he brought it up so he's going to tell him. Justin says it's not his place but Steve argues that it is. Steve wants to know if he did something to hurt Kayla. Justin explains to him that as Stefano, he got shot and went to Kayla for help then he took her hostage to trade her for Marlena. Justin adds that he was there for the exchange and he only let her go from Marlena but locked them in and nearly gassed them to death. Steve argues that there's no way he could have done this because he would never try to kill Kayla. John then enters the room. Justin states that if he doesn't believe him, he can ask John. Justin then exits the room.

Jennifer talks to Kayla about Jack being Steve's brother but also loving Justin so he feels in the middle so she can't imagine how torn Kayla must feel. Kayla doesn't know what is right to do. Jennifer thinks she needs to just listen to what she feels and let her heart choose the man she wants to spend the rest of her life with. Kayla agrees that she needs to do it soon. Justin then comes over.

John confirms to Steve that he kidnapped Kayla for Marlena. John encourages him not to beat himself up as it was all Stefano. Steve can't believe he was so out of control. John assures that he and Marlena understand he was a victim as well. Steve asks how Kayla can look at him now and not see the man who was ready to kill her.

Jennifer greets Justin and says she was just on her way out. Jennifer hugs Kayla and says to call if she needs anything as she exits. Kayla asks what brings Justin by. Justin tells her there is something he needs to say to her that can't wait and it's about her and Steve.

Marlena works at home then stops to think back to when Orpheus kidnapped her and Kayla.

Ciara tells Rafe that David is fine. Rafe tells her about Orpheus breaking in. Ciara mentions that she and Ben ran in to Christian on the way and he tried to tell David that he's his father but Ben shut it down. Rafe thanks her for protecting David. Ciara states that Christian is David's father and David will find the truth out at some point so she thinks it would be better if the truth came from Rafe.

Zoey introduces herself to Ben as Christian's attorney. Zoey questions Ben threatening him. Ben says he was just advising him on the best course of action. Zoey argues that Christian has every right to be a father to his child. Ben calls him a murderer. Zoey says he is too and Christian is innocent until proven guilty. Zoey declares that it's for the court to decide and suggests Ben and Ciara stop harassing her client or she will slap them both with restraining orders. Ben suggests she tell him to keep his mouth shut and stay the hell away from his nephew. Ben then walks away. Zoey reminds Christian that his temper has gotten him into enough trouble already. He argues that Ben started it. Zoey tells him to be concerned about his next move. Christian remarks that he's not afraid of Ben. Zoey tells him that he should be afraid of Rafe because he's out on bail for murder so it's not going to take much for the police commissioner to find an excuse to have him thrown back into lockup.

Ben joins Ciara in their room at the Salem Inn. Ben hugs her and says he was an idiot for going off on Christian like that. Ben thanks her for stopping him. Ciara tells him that she has no intention of ever losing him again as they kiss. Ben asks if she got David home to Rafe. Ciara confirms that she did but Orpheus was there.

Marlena tells herself that Orpheus is in prison so he can't hurt her now and she's safe. Marlena then flashes back again to Orpheus locking her in a coffin.

John assures Steve that Kayla doesn't blame him for anything he did while Stefano was controlling him. Steve can't believe what he did and asks how she can ever forgive him. John asks if he's forgetting just how much Kayla loves him.

Kayla doesn't think it's a good time but Justin tells her that he knows he's the underdog and he was ready to step aside to make this easier for her but he can't because he loves her so he has every intention of fighting her. Justin knows Steve has been pressuring her to come back to him but he doesn't want her to think he loves her any less. Justin knows it's hard but he wants to be the one she wakes up with every morning. Justin says this is not pressure, just the truth. Justin mentions that he told Steve how they have saved each other this past year. Justin calls Kayla his hero and wants to think he is her hero as well. Justin wants them to keep saving each other for the rest of their lives as he then exits the hospital.

John gets a call that Orpheus is free.

Orpheus shows up at Marlena's door.

Christian thanks Zoey for having his back with Ben. Zoey then reveals that's what big sisters do for little brothers.

Ciara complains to Ben that Orpheus almost told David that he was his grandfather but Rafe stopped him. Ciara repeats that they can't keep the truth from David forever.

Rafe sits with David and says there is something they need to talk about.

Justin goes to Julie's Place and greets Jennifer. She says she can only imagine how he's doing. Justin declares that he's taking a stand as he made it clear to Kayla how he feels so now it's up to her whether she wants to be with him or with Steve.

Kayla enters Steve's hospital room. Steve was afraid he scared her away but Kayla says she doesn't scare so easily. Steve apologizes for questioning her about her relationship with Justin as he was out of line. Kayla says it's okay but Steve says it's not and they really need to talk about what's going on. Kayla agrees and calls the situation painful for everybody. Kayla then announces that she has made a decision.
