Ciara and Ben wake up in bed together. Ben kisses her until Ciara tells him they can't do this.

Hope walks through the town square, looking at the balcony where Princess Gina pushed Jennifer off of. Jennifer then approaches and startles her.

Justin wakes up in bed alone and calls out for Kayla.

Steve remains in his hospital bed and thinks back to he and Kayla after their first wedding where he gave her an anchor necklace. He then thinks back to Kayla leaving to go home to Justin. Sonny enters the room and Steve tells him how good it is to see him. Sonny notes that the nurse said he wanted to see him as soon as possible. Steve informs him that he just found out about Adrienne yesterday. Steve asks if they caught the son of a bitch who was driving the other car. Sonny confirms the driver is in prison now. Steve apologizes for not being there for him back then. Sonny says he's had a lot of time to deal with it but it's new for Steve so he knows it must hurt like hell. Steve can't imagine his life without Adrienne which Sonny relates to. They joke about how Adrienne never had a problem speaking her mind. Sonny informs Steve that he and Will are thinking about having another kid. Steve calls that great news. Sonny wishes he could talk to Adrienne about it. Steve encourages that their connection won't go away. Sonny does feel she is watching over them. Steve feels he should've been watching out for her and been there for all of them but he wasn't.

Justin gets out of bed and is surprised by Kayla bringing him breakfast. Justin tells her that she didn't have to but Kayla says she was up early. Justin thought she already went to the hospital but Kayla says she wouldn't leave without saying goodbye.

Eli and Lani return to work at the police station where Rafe welcomes them back and hands them their badges, saying they have been missed. Rafe brings up Eli being commissioner when he left but notes that Abe wants him to remain in that position now. Eli says he couldn't report to anyone he respects more and admits he misses being out in the field. A woman arrives and questions which one of them is in charge.

Jennifer apologizes for startling Hope and asks if she's okay. Hope asks how she can be okay when she was thinking about what she did to her and how she could've died. Jennifer insists it wasn't Hope's fault but Hope insists that it was. Hope acknowledges that she hurt so many people. Hope mentions that she tracked down Eve in New York City so she could apologize but Eve threatened to take legal action against her. Jennifer argues that Eve is free and it's all been taken care of so if she was going to take legal action against anyone, it should be Dr. Rolf. Jennifer remarks that what Gina did to Eve pales in comparison to what Eve has done to others. Hope continues to blame herself for pushing Jennifer.

Sonny encourages that there was not much Steve could have done if he was here since it was a freak accident that hurt Adrienne badly. Steve remarks that his sister left this life thinking he was a bum. Steve repeats that he should've been there. Sonny assures that he would've been if Stefano and Dr. Rolf hadn't got to him first. Sonny points out that Stefano is gone and Dr. Rolf is finally in jail. Steve decides he needs to get out of here and get his life back together. Sonny says now that they talked about his mom, Adrienne, he thinks it's time they talk about his dad, Justin.

Justin feels Kayla must be anxious to get back to the hospital and Steve. Kayla admits she wants to see how he's doing after brain surgery because he is her patient. Justin notes that he's a lot more than a patient. Kayla acknowledges that he's also the father of her children and they are worried about him. Kayla adds that she doesn't think she can save Steve's eye but she has an eye surgeon coming in to check on him. Justin hopes she gets good news as he knows she's worried. Justin points out that Kayla hardly slept last night.

Rafe introduces himself as police commissioner while the woman reveals she is Zoey Burge, the lawyer of Christian Maddox. She demands her client be let go immediately. Rafe says that's not going to happen because he's facing kidnapping charges. Zoey hands him a folder and reveals that Orpheus has taken full responsibility for the alleged kidnapping. Rafe points out that Orpheus is in federal custody. Zoey reveals she just came from there and asks him to get her client but Rafe says no chance.

Ben tells Ciara that she's never turned him down. Ciara explains that they can't lay in bed forever because they have to get back to the real world. Ben talks about applying to so many jobs and none of them even want to interview him. Ciara encourages him to hang in. Ciara says by the real world, she didn't mean looking for jobs but she has a surprise. Ciara tells Ben to take a shower and meet her in the park outside the town square in 20 minutes. Ben suggests she join him in the shower. Ciara says no but he convinces her and they kiss.

Steve informs Sonny that he knows about Kayla and Justin. Sonny talks about Justin being out of his mind when Adrienne died and he doesn't know if he would've got through it without Kayla. Steve points out that Kayla would've just been a good friend to Justin if she didn't get the divorce papers. Sonny goes over Kayla getting the divorce papers and not knowing it wasn't Steve who signed them. Steve asks if he's saying his marriage is over even though Stefano signed the papers. Sonny can't imagine what it's like for Steve to come out of this and know he was screwed over. Sonny insists that Justin and Kayla are good together. Steve is glad that somebody was there for Kayla but she now knows that her situation isn't what she thought it was. Sonny tells Steve that Justin and Kayla is not a rebound thing as they fell in love.

Kayla admits that she had a pretty restless night. Justin tells her that it meant a lot to him that she decided to come home instead of staying at the hospital. Kayla assures it's where she wanted to be.

Jennifer tells Hope that Eve can never take responsibility for anything bad in her life. Hope argues that she took a year of Eve's life and Jennifer's. Hope adds that when she did all those horrible things, she felt nothing. Jennifer insists it wasn't her but Hope argues that it was. Hope feels she should be punished for what she did.

Ciara surprises Ben in the park by bringing his nephew David to him.

Rafe questions releasing Christian because his psychopath father claims he had nothing to do with David's kidnapping. Zoey argues that Rafe is trying to keep Christian from being reunited with his son. Rafe brings up that her client killed his son's mother and let another man take the fall for it. Zoey claims Jordan's death was an accident and argues that Ben should've been executed after three murders. Rafe declares that Christian was involved in David's kidnapping so he doesn't care what he or his father say, he has lost all rights to his son. Rafe suggests maybe she'll have better luck with the judge. Zoey informs him that she just came from the court and both judges agree that Christian has been exonerated. Zoey reveals a court order that says Christian is free to go and Rafe has been instructed to release him.

Jennifer argues that Hope can't be punished when she didn't have control over her actions. Hope insists she still did it. Jennifer calls Hope a victim and says she would never intentionally hurt someone. Hope flashes back to when Gina prepared to suffocate Jennifer and realizes she did that. Jennifer points out that something stopped her so she didn't do that. Hope remembers Ciara walked in and worries about what if she hadn't then Jennifer would be dead right now.

Ben plays with David and asks how Ciara made this happen. Ciara explains that she figured it out with Rafe last night and he agreed to let Ben see David since the babysitter had a doctor's appointment. Ciara comments that Christian and Orpheus are locked up so there is no problem.

Rafe tells Zoey that he may have to let her client go but he still has a murder charge hanging over his head. Zoey calls it temporary and says Christian is looking forward to his day in court. Lani and Eli bring Christian in. Zoey demands his handcuffs be removed so they do. Rafe tells him to enjoy his freedom while he has it. Zoey and Christian then exit the station. Lani asks Rafe who David is with right now so he pulls his phone out.

Justin tells Kayla that he wanted to hold her last night but he didn't because he wasn't sure that's what she wanted and he doesn't know where they stand. Kayla says they need to talk about everything but right now she has to get to the hospital so she exits.

Sonny assures Steve that Justin and Kayla fell in love and questions if he just expects Justin to walk away now that he's back when Kayla makes him happy. Steve doesn't want to hurt Justin but he does want his life back. Steve calls Kayla his one true love and the mother of his children so he's going to win her back.

Ciara gets a call from Rafe, who tells her to take David home now. Ciara thought he said they could spend the whole day with him. Rafe explains that Evan/Christian has been released since Orpheus took full responsibility for the kidnapping. Rafe instructs Ciara to take David home, lock the doors, and not let anyone in as he will be there as soon as he can. Ciara hangs up and informs Ben that Christian has been released and Rafe is afraid that he will come for David. They prepare to leave but Christian comes around the corner and finds them.

Hope asks Jennifer what if Gina smothered her and continues to blame herself. Hope cries that she just remembered something else and tells her that she thought about killing Abigail.

Sonny goes to see Justin, who says he was just on his way to work but Sonny asks if he has a minute so Justin invites him in. Sonny informs him that he just came from talking to uncle Steve because he wanted to talk about Adrienne. Justin guesses he is devastated. Sonny mentions that he wanted to know if they got the person who caused the accident. Sonny says he didn't tell him that it was Maggie, just that she's in prison. Justin says he will tell Kayla that Steve asked about the accident. Sonny then informs Justin that they also talked about he and Kayla.

Kayla goes to Steve's room at the hospital and questions him sitting up on the side of the bed, pointing out that he just had brain surgery so he could get dizzy and fall. Kayla tells him that he needs to lie back down so he does. Kayla guesses he's feeling better. Steve says he's feeling pretty lousy because of his heart. Kayla checks him but Steve clarifies that it's his broken heart. Steve asks if she and Justin made love last night. Kayla reminds him that they are divorced so her personal life is none of his business. Steve guesses that means no.

Rafe tells Lani and Eli that he has to go see David and leaves them in charge. Lani asks Eli if Christian would be stupid enough to go after David so soon after getting out. Eli points out that Rafe left them in charge so they can assign themselves to tail Christian. Lani likes that idea but Zoey returns asking to speak to Rafe. They tell her that he just left and ask if they can help but she says no. Eli says she probably thinks she did a good thing setting Christian free but he's going to prison just like his dad for a long time because kidnapping is a federal offense. Zoey argues that they didn't cross state lines. Eli comments that Orpheus will be there forever with all his crimes. Zoey warns that he doesn't even know what he's talking about.

Ben and Ciara try to leave with David but Christian stops to talk to David and says he has something really important to tell him.

Jennifer tells Hope that Gina is gone so she won and none of this is her fault. Jennifer brings up Steve knowing what it's like and insists they are both going to pull through this.

Justin appreciates Sonny going to bat for him with Steve but suggests maybe he shouldn't have. Sonny felt he had to because Steve was pretty upfront that he still loves Kayla and he wants her back. Justin doesn't blame him but points out that Kayla came home with him last night. Sonny asks if she's made her decision then. Justin says she's too wise to rush a decision like that and he's going to give her the space she needs. Sonny calls that noble but warns that Steve is not going to give her space with their history. Justin notes that part of their history was pretty rough. Justin feels they have learned from their mistakes and what they have together makes them very happy. Sonny encourages Justin to fight for Kayla.

Steve asks if Kayla and Justin went to bed last night only to sleep. Kayla tells him not to make assumptions about her personal life. Steve says it's all over her face and something monumental happened between them yesterday when she brought him back. Kayla says she was just doing her job but Steve argues that it's much more than that. Kayla says she will go brief his eye specialist. Steve insists that he's not giving up on her and he never will as she then exits the room.

Hope sits alone in the town square, thinking back to Jennifer's words that Gina is gone and she won. Hope wonders why she feels like Gina beaten her then.

Jennifer goes to the hospital and sees Kayla crying so she asks what's wrong. Kayla tells her that she's just a mess as Jennifer hugs her.

Justin enters Steve's room at the hospital and tells him it's time for them to have a talk.

Christian tries to talk to David but Ben grabs him by the throat.

Zoey reveals to Eli and Lani that Orpheus is a free man.

Rafe goes home and is shocked to find Orpheus sitting inside.
