At the hospital, John tells Marlena that he feels terrible for Kayla because he knows how it felt when Marlena had no memory of their love. Marlena says it was inside of her which is why he was able to reach her and now they know Steve's love of Kayla is inside of him. John says that knowing Kayla and how much she and Steve loved each other, he's sure she will find a way.

Kayla continues telling Steve about their wedding and now she wants to give him the strength and courage to remember what they meant to each other.

The nurse insists on taking the baby back but Kristen pulls away and says she's not taking her. Kristen says she's sleeping and doesn't want anyone to upset her so she needs to hold her a little while longer.

Brady walks back in to the Basic Black office and asks what Eric has to tell him. Brady asks if it's about his big secret or if Kristen did something horrible. Eric responds that it's about Mackenzie.

Xander tells Justin that Sarah is not picking up. Justin tells him not to panic. Xander worries about if something happened and hopes she's alright. Sarah then enters the room staring down Xander. Sarah walks past him to Mackenzie in her crib and thinks back to Eric revealing the truth about the baby switch to her. Xander tells her that she scared him as he thought maybe she was getting cold feet. She turns back to stare at him so he asks what's wrong.

The nurse tells Kristen that she needs her to handle the child away but she refuses. The nurse thought it was explained that the babies have to be signed in and out at a certain time to be protected. Kristen says she understands that but she's not taking her anywhere so she just needs to hold her a little bit longer, insisting that she's safe and happy. The nurse says she knows what she's been through but she can't do this. John and Marlena then enter the room. Marlena asks if there's a problem.

Xander tells Sarah that Victor told him she left the prison over two hours ago so he asks where she was. Sarah thinks back to Eric revealing the truth and then informs Xander that she went to Eric's. Xander questions why in God's name she would do that.

Brady asks Eric if Mackenzie is okay. Nicole assures that she's fine. Eric notes that Brady really loves her. Brady says of course he does, she's his niece. Eric then reveals to Brady that she is not his niece, she's his daughter.

Steve knows Kayla really wants him to remember but he just can't as it's all gone. Kayla tells him that Stefano DiMera really messed with his mind and took it over but he could never take over his heart. Kayla says they were married over 30 years ago and he never quit on them so she's not going to quit on him now. Kayla says she remembers every minute of their wedding day and every word he said as she flashes back to their wedding. Kayla recites some of the words Steve said that day. Steve is then able to continue those vows as Kayla starts to cry. Steve calls Kayla "sweetness" and cries as he remembers her. Kayla asks if he really remembers. Steve asks how any man could ever forget her as she hugs him. Steve confirms that he remembers her now but asks why he forgot and what happened to him.

Xander guesses Eric summoned Sarah to give her more grief about custody. Xander remarks that the baby belongs with her mother. Sarah says she agrees with him.

The nurse explains to Marlena that Kristen is refusing to give the child back. Marlena approaches and comments that Kristen is very good with the baby. Kristen says she's sleeping and didn't want anyone to wake her. Marlena says she will make sure nobody wakes her. Kristen then hands the baby over to Marlena then Marlena gives her back to the nurse, who exits the room.

Brady tells Eric to say that again. Nicole confirms it's true that Mackenzie is Brady and Kristen's. Brady asks if they're serious and questions Nicole knowing. Nicole brings up seeing the birth mark and starting to wonder. Eric explains that Nicole just found out what happened. Eric reveals to Brady that he and Sarah's baby Mackenzie died that night. Brady can't believe that Rachel is alive and says he has to tell Kristen. Brady tells Eric that he's so sorry. Eric wants him to be there for Kristen and the little girl they have. Brady cries and hugs Eric. Brady thanks Nicole for figuring it out. Nicole says she didn't want to say anything until she was sure. Brady asks if Sarah knows. Eric confirms that she does. Brady knows exactly what she's going through right now.

Sarah goes to the alcohol as Justin asks if she's okay. Xander questions what exactly Eric said to her. Xander encourages her to just forget about it. Sarah responds that she doesn't think she'll ever forget. Justin says it's alright if she's not sure about getting married. Xander encourages that they are here and going to be a family officially which Sarah questions. Xander swears to be a good husband and father as there's nothing he wants more in the world. Sarah acknowledges that he wants this more than anything and mocks him swearing on it. Justin asks if she's okay. Sarah claims she's fine and says to start the wedding.

John gives Kristen a glass of water and sits with her. Kristen says for John to be nice to her, she must have really screwed up. John guesses it was a little too intense. Kristen agrees that holding a baby in her arms was intense. Marlena comes back into the room. Kristen notes that she doesn't look like she has good news for her. Marlena informs her that they want her to leave the program. Kristen understands their point of view and says it's okay. Kristen goes to leave but Marlena stops her.

Steve questions thinking he was Stefano DiMera. Kayla explains to him that Dr. Rolf implanted a microchip in his brain that contained the essence of Stefano. Steve asks how long this has been going on. Kayla says it's been almost two years but it's over now and the chip is out. Steve asks what he did, guessing that Stefano wanted something or someone so he wants to know what Stefano made him do. Kayla wants him to rest after major surgery but Steve argues that he cannot rest or forget that Stefano took him over. Steve questions what he made him do and who he went after.

Kristen tells Marlena that Brady has been wonderful but that just makes her feel guilty, like she's dragging him down and she knows it's not fair to him. Marlena says grief and guilt are powerful forces to deal with. Marlena thinks Kristen could use some help here, someone to talk to and be on her side. Kristen agrees that she needs to find a way to accept that her Rachel is gone and is never coming back.

Brady questions how the hospital can mix up babies and says he will sue the hospital. Nicole stops him and explains that it wasn't the hospital. Brady asks how the hell this happened then. Nicole reveals to him that the babies were switched on purpose. Brady asks who in the hell would do that.

Justin begins Sarah and Xander's wedding. He asks if anyone has reason for them not to be wed and points out that Mickie is the only person in attendance. Xander comments that he would move heaven and earth to make Sarah happy. Xander notes that they wrote their own vows and decides to go first. Xander starts by telling her there is something he hasn't been totally honest about so before she says "I do", she needs to know the whole truth.

Kayla tells Steve that Stefano had two goals, to take over the DiMera Empire but his kids stopped that, and the main reason he came back was for Marlena. Steve can't believe he went after her.

Marlena offers to take Kristen home. Kristen says she and John have been so kind but there is some place she needs to be.

Brady is shocked to learn Xander switched the babies and declares that he's going to kill him. Eric stops Brady and says they need to let Sarah handle this her way.

Xander tells Sarah that he has done anything and everything to make this day happen. Sarah responds that she knows that now. Xander admits he's lied over and over like he always does but he doesn't want to lie anymore to her. Sarah asks if he's going to tell her the truth now. Xander says they have been telling everyone that he's a changed man because of her but that wasn't the truth. Sarah asks why he says that. Xander responds that he still does bad things for bad reasons but the one thing he does for the right reason is love her. Xander tells Sarah it's her turn to say her vows. Sarah talks about Xander seeing how people hurt her and how he made it his job to fix things for her. Sarah says she knew the things he did and the man he was but it stopped mattering so much. Sarah says he was really good to her and brings up how he delivered her daughter. They agree that everything is about Mackenzie. Sarah says all of the things Xander did for her made her forget all the things that everyone told her about him. Sarah talks about how he was different with her and her daughter. Sarah says it was almost like Mackenzie brought them together. Sarah talks about how they lied together by not telling Eric that he was Mackenzie's father. Sarah says it's kind of funny that it all started with a lie.

Brady asks Eric how he is and tells him he's so sorry that this is happening to him. Eric tells him that he and Sarah need to face what Brady and Kristen have faced. Eric encourages Brady to go tell Kristen that their daughter is alive. Brady tells Nicole to take care of Eric. Brady hugs Eric and says he loves him as he then exits. Nicole then hugs Eric.

Kristen brings flowers to Rachel's grave. She talks about holding another baby today and not wanting to give her back because it reminded her of the night her daughter was born when she handed a healthy baby girl to a nurse and never got her back.

Justin asks if Sarah is okay. Sarah claims she just got lost in the past on the night her baby was born. Sarah talks about losing Adrienne and then going in to labor but she knew everything would be alright because Xander was taking care of everything. Sarah recalls being so scared to give her baby to the nurse to be examined but there was no reason to be scared because Xander was there and he brought the child back and put her in her arms. Sarah remarks that Xander took care of everything.

Steve questions what he has done. Kayla insists he didn't do anything, Stefano did. Kayla adds that John and Marlena don't blame him so he shouldn't blame himself. Steve asks if Marlena is okay now which she confirms. Steve says the only person Marlena wants to be with is John, just like the only person he wants to be with is Kayla. Steve tells her that he was on his way home to her when Stefano's people picked him up. Kayla points out that he didn't come back or call and she was so mad so she sent divorce papers to push him to come back but she got the papers back without a word. Steve tells her to tear up the papers because he would never give up on them and they'll get remarried. Kayla cries that she thought he did so she moved on with someone else which shocks Steve.

Justin continues the wedding ceremony. Xander says I do and then Justin asks if Sarah takes Xander to be her husband.

Eric and Nicole go home. Eric thinks that might have been the hardest thing he's ever had to do. Eric says as hard as it was to find out his baby girl was dead, it was so much harder to say out loud. Nicole says he had to tell Sarah and Brady but he hasn't had a chance to cry for his baby. Eric responds that if he does, he doesn't think he'll ever stop as Nicole hugs him.

Kristen stands at Rachel's grave and says goodbye as she has to finally find a way to let her go. Brady then appears and hugs her.

Xander tells Sarah that it's time for her to say I do. Sarah pulls away and asks how she could marry him after what he did.
