Days of Our Lives Update Wednesday 4/8/20

Ben and Ciara go back to their room at the Salem Inn. They talk about being unsuccessful in their job search so far. Ben sits her down and massages her feet. Ciara says she has no regrets leaving Titan. Ben tells her they will enjoy another night in the room as they kiss on the bed.

Rafe confronts Evan/Christian in the interrogation room. Christian asks why he's here and if something is wrong with David. Rafe says David is fine no thanks to he and his father. Christian asks where his father is. Rafe says that's what he wanted to talk to him about.

Xander enters the living room of the Kiriakis Mansion where Sonny jokes about seeing him with a dress. Xander explains that Sarah got called away so he went to Basic Black to pick up her wedding dress for her. Sonny remarks that his wedding will be non traditional, starting with the lack of guests. Xander says they threw it together last minute so there was no time for invitations but he would like him to be there. Xander then asks Sonny to be his best man which surprises him.

At the hospital, Nicole suggests to Eric that they go home since Sarah said she would call after the surgery and it will probably be awhile. Eric questions how to tell her that all this time the little girl they prayed for and loved as their own is not their child and that their little girl died almost a year ago. Nicole points out that it's not too late to change his mind. Nicole says if he chooses not to say anything and raise Brady and Kristen's child as his and Sarah's, she promises to never tell another soul.

Jack brings Justin a coffee at the hospital. They talk about not sleeping much. Jack is glad that Sarah is in there with Kayla as he questions Kayla performing brain surgery on her ex husband. Justin explains that Dr. Rolf refused so there weren't a lot of options and Kayla did watch him do it twice so she's not going in cold. Jack questions why she didn't call in a consultant or a neurosurgeon, asking what the rush is. Justin thinks it's a testament to how badly she wants Steve back.

Kayla and Sarah prepare to begin Steve's brain surgery. Kayla declares that it's all in her hands, either she brings Steve back or she kills him..

Nicole tells Eric that sometimes she wishes she didn't tell him the truth but she really believes Mackenzie's best hope for a happy life is to be with him and Sarah. Eric says that would be wrong and as hard as it's going to be, Brady and Kristen deserve to know they have a daughter. Eric adds that Sarah is going to marry Xander tomorrow so she has to be told what he has done. Nicole argues that Sarah already knows the horrible things Xander has done and she's marrying him anyways. Eric says Xander ripped his heart apart twice. Nicole understands he's angry but says he can't tip off Xander that they know until he tells Sarah because God only knows what Xander would do to stop the truth from coming out.

Sonny questions why Xander would want him to be his best man when he despises him for letting his husband sit in jail for a crime he didn't commit. Xander informs him that Justin agreed to officiate the ceremony. Xander tells him that everything he did was to protect their family. Xander says he regrets what happened to Will but Maggie had to be protected. Xander wants a new start but Sonny refuses.

Sarah encourages Kayla that no one is more motivated than her to do this procedure. Kayla worries that this time will be different since Stefano is Dr. Rolf's whole reason for existing while removing the chip means Stefano DiMera no longer exists. Kayla can't imagine Rolf will make it easy for her to destroy the Phoenix once and for all.

Rafe tells Christian that he's stuck here until the resolve the situation with his lawyer and Orpheus unless he wants to enter a guilty plea. Christian argues that he was out on bail and helped return David but now he's in handcuffs. Rafe says he only knew where David was because he was involved in the kidnapping. Rafe says they might can work a deal if he testifies against Orpheus but he refuses so Rafe tells him to suit himself. Rafe goes to leave but Christian stops him and argues that Rafe knows he's not a bad guy. Rafe brings up that he killed Jordan and was going to let someone else hang for it. Christian says he's only guilty of wanting to be a part of his son's life. Rafe tells him he can tell it to the judge. He wants his one phone call.

Ben and Ciara kiss in bed as they start to undress until Ben's phone rings. Ben wants to ignore it but Ciara reminds him it could be about a job so Ben stops to answer. Ben says he'll have to think about it and hangs up. Ben informs her that it was Evan/Christian, who wants to see him at the police station but he doesn't know why. Ciara tells him that this could be his chance to confront him to get some closure so she thinks he should go.

Sonny says they both know Xander is asking him to be his best man because he doesn't have any friends. Sonny feels bad for Sarah and wants her to come to her senses. Xander warns him about if Victor hears him talking to him like this. Sonny mocks him making threats and says he knew he wouldn't turn over a new leaf. Sonny tells Xander that there's no chance in Hell that he will come to the wedding as he storms out.

Eric tells Nicole that he won't let Xander dictate what he can or can't do. Eric decides they are going to the Kiriakis Mansion. Nicole doesn't want him to confront Xander. Eric says every night at the hospital he's read a bedtime story to Mickie and kissed her goodnight so this is the last time he can do that as her father. Nicole agrees to go with him and they exit.

Kayla discovers the location of the microchip is surrounded by tissue while Marlena and Hope's were easier to remove. Kayla worries that the only way to remove it is to cut straight through which could destroy Steve.

Ben and Ciara go to the police station. Rafe is glad they decided to come. Ben asks about David. Rafe says he's great and that Ben needs to come see him. Ciara questions why Evan/Christian wants to see Ben. Rafe suggests Ben find out for himself. Ciara wants to go with him but Ben would rather do this alone. Ciara asks Rafe if he's sure it's a good idea to leave them inthe room alone. Ben heads in and asks what he wants. Christian says he wants to apologize for killing Jordan and almost letting him fry for it. Ben thinks he's just sucking up to the court. Christian insists that he never intended to touch Jordan but he lost it when she said he would never see his kid. He says Ben knows what it's like to lose control. Ben questions this being his apology. He says the pull in being a dad is more magnetic than anything he's ever imagined.

Eric and Nicole go to the Kiriakis Mansion. Xander questions what they are doing here. Eric wants to see Mickie. Xander asks why. Eric says he doesn't have to tell him why. Xander says that Mickie is asleep so maybe tomorrow. Eric warns him not to play around with him after what he's done. Xander asks what exactly he's done.

Jack talks to Justin about how Stefano rained down hell on so many people and hijacked Steve's body to do it. Jack thinks Kayla is just anxious to get rid of the Phoenix as soon as possible. Justin says they both know this is about getting her husband back. Jack reminds him that he's her ex and tells him not to get ahead of himself. Justin feels it's a big step for Kayla to rush Steve into surgery. Jack assures that Kayla loves him. Justin says what they have is amazing but he knows it can't hold a candle to what she had with Steve.

Kayla doesn't want to risk permanent brain damage so she's going to stop, sew him up, and call a specialist to try again later. Sarah agrees but the microchip begins beeping and they have no idea what that means until the microchip reveals it has entered self-destruct mode.

Christian tells Ben that he didn't want him to die. Ben shouts that there was a needle in his arm and he didn't confess until there was a gun to his head. Christian argues that he loves his son more than doing the right thing so if he came clean, he would've lost David and broken his heart. Ben asks how he thinks David will feel when he learns that he killed his mom. Christian says he regrets that more than anything. Ben asks if all this remorse is just a big play. Ben says he can't change the facts that his sister is still dead and if not for Ciara, he would be too.

Nicole asks Xander what Sarah would say if she knew he was keeping Eric from seeing his little girl. Xander gives in and tells him not to take too long and not to wake her up since she needs her rest.

The microchip plans to self destruct in two minutes. Kayla says this is exactly what she was afraid of, Dr. Rolf's revenge as he's made it impossible to remove the chip. Kayla declares that everyone needs to get out now.

Justin tells Jack how Adrienne was the love of his life and he can never have her back but Kayla has a real chance to have Steve back so he wants that for her. Jack tells him to stop being so noble. Justin says Steve was his brother in law and he has family and friends. Justin says he cares about him but admits he doesn't mean that with his whole heart. Jack gets that Justin is crazy in love with Kayla and doesn't want to lose her. Justin feels there are only three possible outcomes to the surgery; Steve dies and Kayla will never forgive herself for killing him, the real Steve comes back, or Steve lives but is never the same. Justin feels he's not being noble, but selfish as hell and realistic because none of those scenarios end well for him. Justin declares that whether Steve dies or lives, it's the beginning of the end for he and Kayla.

Sarah tells Kayla that she's not going anywhere as the chip has one minute to left. Sarah says they have to cut in to the power supply. Kayla worries that means cutting in to his brain and losing his memories of their kids and everything. The chip has 30 seconds so Kayla declares it's coming out. With 10 seconds left, Kayla cuts it off and says there's no coming back now. Sarah points out that Steve's vitals are stable while Kalya worries about what she has done to him.

Ben comes out of the interrogation room and tells Ciara that he said what he needed to say and he hopes he never has to look at that bastard again.

Eric and Nicole watch over Mickie. Eric talks about feeling like she is his. Nicole says he wouldn't be having to if she didn't go after the truth. Eric says the truth is always best and that this is on Xander, not her. Nicole feels like she's taken his daughter from him too. Eric points out that she is his niece so she'll always be in his life. Nicole knows it's not the same. Eric says goodnight to Mickie and that he loves her no matter whose daughter she is. Nicole then hugs him.

Rafe enters the interrogation room and tells Christian that the guard will be in soon to take him to his cell. Christian doesn't want his son to think he's a monster as he's always tried to do what's best for him. Rafe doesn't think kidnapping is what's best for him. Christian asks Rafe to tell David that he loves hm. Rafe then exits the room.

Ben and Ciara return to their hotel room. Ciara asks if he's sure he's okay. Ben says he couldn't just accept Christian/Evan's apology. Ciara understands since he killed his sister and kidnapped his nephew. Ben says he has done unforgivable things and people forgave him so he asks if he should be able to do the same. Ciara feels hearing him out was generous enough. Ciara reminds him that he was ready to let Ben die and that Jordan's dead because of him. Ben talks about Jordan protecting him when they were kids. Ben says he felt that same rage when Jordan went after her but he's a completely different person now because of Ciara and he knows what true love is now. Ben thanks her and they kiss.

Kayla and Sarah come out of the operating room to inform Justin and Jack that they successfully removed the microchip but Dr. Rolf wired the chip to self-destruct so she had no choice but to remove it. Kayla doesn't know what to expect when Steve wakes up. Jack encourages that she did what had to be done. Justin tells Kayla that whatever happens, he's here for her. Kayla thanks him and hugs him.

Eric holds Mickie and reads her a bedtime story then puts her back in her crib. Eric gets a text from Sarah that the surgery is over and she's on her way home. Eric declares this is it and tells Mickie that she will always be his angel as he says goodbye for now.

Ben and Ciara kiss and undress onto the bed.

Sarah comes home to Xander and tells him that the surgery was the most harrowing experience of her life and they have to wait and see if it was successful. Sarah says coming home to him helps because he's so good to her. Xander tells her that he picked up her dress. Sarah calls herself the luckiest girl in the world as they kiss.

Kayla enters Steve's hospital room where he sleeps. She sits at his side and tells him that she's there and has been thinking about all their memories. Kayla says even if he forgets, she will never forget. She encourages him to come back to them. Justin watches through the window.

Eric and Nicole come downstairs. Xander says he was just about to come throw them out. Eric wants to have a word with Sarah before he goes but Xander informs him that she fell asleep on the couch. Eric says he will have to wake her up because this is important. Xander questions what could be so important. Nicole says Sarah asked them to watch Mickie while they are on their honeymoon so they have to discuss living arrangements. Xander says there will be time for that tomorrow. Eric insists that it's important. Xander says they have a big day tomorrow so he opens the door for them to leave. Eric tells Nicole that Sarah needs to know the truth. Nicole decides they will wait until tomorrow. Eric agrees as long as it's before she marries Xander.

Xander goes back in to the living room and tells Sarah that everything he did was for her and tomorrow she will finally be his.
