Chad and Abigail lay in bed together. Abigail talks about everything being back to normal. She asks why Chad is so quiet. Chad says he could've lost her and the kids. Abigail points out that he didn't. Chad states that the life they are building with their kids is all that matters to him. Chad says he loves her and he's grateful for her bringing him back and ending his father's return as they kiss.

Stefano remains handcuffed to his hospital bed, saying they think the game is over and that they've won but it's far from it. He declares that very soon they will see that the master still has a few moves left..

Justin goes to the hospital to see Kayla. Kayla tells him that Marlena is fine and back to her old self but Dr. Rolf refuses to remove the chip from Steve's head. Kayla adds that he said nothing will change his mind. Justin asks if that means Steve will believe he's Stefano forever. Kayla declares that she can't let that happen. Justin asks what she can do if Dr. Rolf won't perform the surgery. Kayla says she has to do something as she owes that to Steve since he's as much a victim in this as anybody. Kayla adds that Steve has spent so much of his life trying to stop Stefano from hurting the people he loves so she can't just stand by and watch Stefano continue to hurt Steve.

Sarah finishes a call and tells Xander that her wedding dress is ready. Sarah mentions finding it at Basic Black and begging Nicole for it. Xander jokes about having Nicole to thank and he's surprised that she did anything to help with his wedding since at times it seems she wants to ruin everyone's happiness every chance she gets..

Brady and Kristen go to Eric's apartment. Eric brings them in. Brady says he thought Nicole was in New York. Eric responds that she was but she came back because there was something she needed to tell him..

Sarah tells Xander that what anyone else thinks about their wedding doesn't matter. Xander agrees that her opinion is the only one he cares about. Sarah talks about how Mickie looks at him like he can do no wrong as he hugs her.

Brady tells Eric that he just wanted to update him on Marlena as she's doing great. Brady says he just wanted him to know so they go to leave but Eric stops him and says what Nicole had to tell him is something that he needs to hear as well.

At the DiMera Mansion, Tony finishes a call with John and informs Anna that Marlena has made a full recovery so her days as Stefano's queen of the night are over. Anna asks what's going to happen to Stefano if all his plans are smashed.

Abigail asks Chad what if it's not over since Dr. Rolf is so loyal to Stefano that he could be around for awhile. Chad responds that if he is, he'll be ready for him. Chad says life is a chess game to Stefano and he's seen all his best moves plus he may have some tricks up his sleeve. Chad says Stefano plays to win while he plays for love and family. Chad suggests they stop talking about his father and make love as they kiss.

Kayla goes to check on Stefano but he doesn't want anyone to touch him and says he's refusing all treatment. Stefano tells her to get out of his sight but she refuses. Stefano mocks her trying to bring Steve back. Stefano adds that Dr. Rolf being loyal to him outweighs his own self preservation so nothing will change his mind so she has to accept that when he put the chip in this brain, Steve Johnson ceased to exist so she'll never see him again. Kayla responds that she will because she's taking the chip out herself.

Anna says she does feel kind of bad for hitting Stefano with her shoe but he was about to kill him. Tony thanks her for saving his life and they kiss. Anna says her life wouldn't be worth anything at all without him in it. Tony assures that he's here to stay and once they removed the chip from Steve's brain, this nightmare will be over. Anna points out that if they are able to bring Steve back, that will mean the end of his father.

Stefano tells Kayla that she has no right to remove his chip. Kayla reveals that she has a court order that says she is allowed to make any necessary medical decisions for Steve. Stefano refuses to let her cut in to him. Kayla says she didn't come for his consent but to say goodbye to the bastard who took away the man she loves. He asks what happens if she botches the surgery, warning that killing him also means killing Steve. Kayla argues that Steve would want her to take the chance because he wouldn't want to live like this. Kayla adds that she watched Dr. Rolf perform the surgery twice so she's confident in it's success. Kayla informs him that the nurses will be in to prep him for surgery and nothing he can say will stop her from doing this. Stefano wants one last request.

Sarah reminds Xander that he has Maggie's permission to marry her. Xander says he won't let her down and wishes she could be there to share in their happiness. Sarah cries that she misses her so much but she will take a ton of pictures to make Maggie feel like she hasn't missed anything. Sarah wonders what they could be forgetting. Xander brings up the honeymoon but tells her that he has it covered.

Kristen brings up Nicole saying she didn't deserve a child. Nicole says she shouldn't have said that but Kristen says maybe she was right. Kristen acknowledges that she did horrible things to Nicole and Eric so she doesn't expect her forgiveness but she feels for what they are going through with Mackenzie. Kristen says she wouldn't wish what she and Brady went through upon anyone. Nicole thanks her. Kristen knows she can't change the way Nicole feels so she can leave right now if she wants. Nicole tells her she should stay so Kristen and Brady sit with Eric and Nicole at the table. Brady asks what the big secret that Nicole has been keeping from them is.

Anna tells Tony that she won't shed a tear if Stefano's essence is scattered to the ether but he's his father. Anna asks how Tony feels about Stefano being out of their lives for good. Tony admits he's torn as Stefano turned so many lives upside down but he doesn't want to see him dead. Tony tells Anna that he's with her for the future either way. Anna tells him that she loves him and talks about Stefano manipulating him, Chad, and Kristen. Anna is scared that if Stefano rises again, he will draw them all back in.

Kayla comes out of Stefano's hospital room and tells Justin that she needs to go prep for surgery. Justin notes that this is a big step with a lot at stake and asks if she wants to talk about it first. Kayla says he always knows what to say to help her see clearly. Justin assures that he's here for her. Kayla says she has to take care of something first as she made a promise to Stefano that she intends to keep as she then pulls out her phone.

Chad tells Abigail that they should stay this happy forever. Chad then gets a call from Kayla, who informs him that she's about to go in to surgery to remove the chip that was implanted in Steve's head but Stefano's last request was that she reach out because he wants to see Chad, Tony, and Kristen one last time.

Xander brings up Sarah being torn between Paris and a Caribbean beach. Xander informs her that he booked the Titan jet and she can pick anywhere she wants to go for their honeymoon. Sarah kisses him and then suggests they take Mickie with them on their honeymoon.

Nicole asks if she should tell them but Eric decides he will. Brady asks if it's Nicole's health since Eric was worried. Eric tells him that they are both fine. Eric says they have all gone through a lot since Rachel and Mackenzie were born and he understands how they suffered after losing a child. Kristen gets a text from Chad about Stefano and says she really needs to go. Kristen tells Brady that he can stay but Brady says his place is at her side so he will go with her. Eric decides it can wait. Kristen tells Eric that she's really grateful that his little girl is going to be okay. Kristen and Brady then exit the apartment. Nicole points out that Eric did not tell them and questions if this means he's decided to raise their child as his own.

Justin understands how much Kayla wants to save Steve and end this nightmare of Stefano but asks if she's sure about operating on Steve. Justin points out that this is a man she loved for a huge part of her life. Justin is worried about her if something goes wrong during the surgery and Steve doesn't make it. Kayla says she's had the same conversation with herself and admits she's terrified to hurt Steve but if they want him back, she has no choice.

Chad, Tony, and Kristen go to see Stefano, who says that he knew they would come.

Eric tells Nicole that he can't keep this secret as Brady and Kristen need to know the truth that Mackenzie is their daughter. Nicole asks why he didn't say anything then. Eric declares that Sarah needs to know first.

Sarah and Xander talk about bringing Mickie on their honeymoon. Sarah then gets a call from Kayla, who informs her that she's about to do the procedure on Steve and could use her help. Sarah agrees to be right there and hangs up. She tells Xander that she has to go help Kayla. Xander offers to pick up her wedding dress but she says he can't as she doesn't want to tempt bad luck. Xander tells her what they have has nothing to do with luck as it's all good and nobody can change that.

Eric questions how to tell Sarah that their child is dead and that Mackenzie belongs to Brady and Kristen. Nicole says there's no easy way but they have to show her the proof. Eric feels a DNA test will take too long and he can't keep this quiet much longer. Nicole suggests there may be another way.

Brady goes to the Basic Black office and is on the phone about Kristen donating to the hospital in their daughter's memory. Brady hangs up and looks through a drawer where he finds Rachel's death certificate and thinks back to finding Kristen with it. Xander then walks in to the office.

Eric and Nicole go to the hospital. Eric confronts the lab tech who Xander paid to change the DNA test results. Nicole tells him that they just want the real results that show Kristen DiMera is the baby's mother. Nicole says no one will ever know they got them from him.

Justin has no doubt that Kayla has the skill to pull this off but he wants to be sure she's ready emotionally for whatever lies ahead. Kayla feels she owes it to Steve since he put his life on the line so many times to stop Stefano from hurting people. Kayla believes Steve would want her to take the chip out as he wouldn't want to spend another day helping Stefano get what he wants. Justin says Steve is lucky to have her. Kayla says she's lucky to have Justin. Kayla declares that the chip has been in there controlling him long enough so it needs to come out now.

Stefano thanks his children for coming and for honoring his request that they come alone. Stefano admits he has violated their trust and apologizes. Kristen questions if they are just supposed to forgive and forget. Tony says not this time. Chad calls it an excellent move that has worked before on all of them but they know they are here because Stefano can't give up without a fight. Chad asks if he came up with an escape plan but declares they are not going to help him this time. Stefano understands he's on the defensive and wary of trusting the father who has let him down so many times. Stefano tells him there is no escape plan or exit scheme, only goodbye. Stefano says his children are everything to him which is why he needed to see them all one last time. He knows they all have reason to hate him but also that they love him. Stefano tells Tony that he's truly sorry that he tried to kill him and that he stranded him on an island for years. Stefano says he never approved of Anna but admires how fiercely she loves him and how she will do anything to protect him. Stefano tells Chad that he had to resort to brainwashing to get him to do his bidding because he has such goodness in him and he admires and envies that. Stefano calls Kristen the child who is most like him. Kristen says that might have been true in the past but she has changed. Kayla enters the room and announces it's time to go.

Brady asks what Xander wants. Xander says he's picking up Sarah's wedding dress which Nicole arranged. Brady mocks him but Xander doesn't care as he's marrying the girl of his dreams. Brady goes to get the dress while Xander sees Rachel's death certificate on the desk. Brady brings him the dress. Xander stops and says there is something he has to tell him.

The lab tech hands Eric the real DNA test results and says he never got them from him as he exits. Eric opens it and confirms it's like Nicole said but there was still some hope in him that she was wrong. Eric declares that Mackenzie's real parents are Kristen and Brady which means his and Sarah's little girl is dead. Sarah then walks into the room.

Brady asks Xander what he wants to tell him. Xander says he's truly sorry for his loss. Brady thanks him and says they are doing the best they can to move on. Xander says he thinks that's for the best as he exits.

Sarah is glad she caught Nicole and Eric. Sarah asks if they will take Mickie when she and Xander go on their honeymoon. Eric says they need to talk but Sarah gets paged back to help Kayla with Steve's surgery. Eric agrees that they can talk later as Sarah hurries back out. Nicole hugs Eric.

Stefano is being wheeled to the operating room. Stefano stops to tell his kids to never forget they are DiMeras. He knows his actions have caused them to consider renouncing the family but they will always be stronger together than alone. Stefano notes that together they defeated him. Stefano adds that he takes some comfort in knowing that in the end, he managed to bring them all together. Stefano cries that he loves them with all his heart as he is then taken away.
