At the hospital, John calls Belle to inform her of Marlena's surgery and says he's about to find out if it worked as he sees Kayla and Dr. Rolf come from the elevator. Dr. Rolf confirms he removed the microchip from Marlena and says he upheld his end of the bargain so now he would like to see Stefano.

Justin is at home where he looks at a photo of he and Kayla. He thinks back to Kayla assuring him that she loves him. Justin declares that he hopes that's true.

Brady sits with Mackenzie and says he knows she is Eric and Sarah's and it's just a coincidence. Kristen walks in and asks what is a coincidence. Brady claims it's just that he was free and clear to watch Mickie while Eric had something to do. Kristen wonders what was so important for Eric to have to leave.

Eric goes home and calls to make a flight to New York but Nicole comes home so Eric cancels and hangs up. Eric tells Nicole that he was just getting a ticket to New York to find her because Brady told him there was no business trip for Basic Black which means she lied to him and he's pretty sure he knows why. Nicole tells him that she can explain. Eric understands she was afraid to tell him the truth after everything they have gone through but they promised no more secrets so he tells her to be honest with him. Eric asks if she's sick. Nicole responds that the trip was not about her, but about him.

Kristen asks Brady if there's something wrong. Brady says he just offered to watch Mickie until Sarah was free. Kristen asks if she can hold her. Brady thinks back to telling John about the birth mark and tells Kristen that he doesn't know if that's a great idea.

Xander shows up at Justin's door and asks if he will officiate he and Sarah's wedding tomorrow. Justin suggests they just go to city hall but Xander feels Sarah deserves better. Justin responds that Sarah deserves better than him. Xander understands he's not his favorite person but they are family and Sarah needs all the family she can get with Maggie in prison. Justin tells him there's not a chance in Hell.

Dr. Rolf argues that they had a deal. John says he intends to honor his agreement once Kayla confirms he removed the microchip. Kayla hands him the microchip and confirms she watched every move like they did with Hope. Kayla says they need to wait until Marlena wakes up to make sure the procedure worked. Dr. Rolf argues that he did his part so now it's time for him to be taken to Stefano. John warns him that if Marlena isn't back to herself, he's coming for him. Dr. Rolf assures that she will be. John says he's counting on it so Marlena takes Dr. Rolf to see Stefano. Kayla enters the room and calls out to Steve to wake him up. He says his name is Stefano DiMera. She brings Dr. Rolf in to see him. Rolf says they told him he was near death but Stefano says he's not. Dr. Rolf offers to create a new eye for him and says he's here to beg for his forgiveness.

Kristen tells Brady that she knows Eric had reservations about her holding Mickie but she just wants to hold her. Sarah walks in and says there's nothing wrong with that but she's here so she can take over.

Eric questions what Nicole having to go to New York has to do with him. Nicole reveals that she went to see Dr. Raynor and explains that Dr. Raynor left Salem because of a secret about Mackenzie. Eric questions what he doesn't know. Nicole informs him that Dr. Raynor knows the truth about who his daughter really belongs to..

Xander asks Justin to please marry them for Sarah. Justin brings up how Xander nearly destroyed Sonny's marriage by letting Will go to prison and says that's unforgivable. Xander argues that Will was texting and driving so he thought he was responsible. Xander insists that they had to protect Maggie from knowing she killed Adrienne and starts to continue but stops which Justin questions.

Dr. Rolf asks to be able to speak with Stefano alone. Kayla gets paged to another patient and warns Rolf that the police will be right outside as she exits. Rolf then explains to Stefano that John forced him to remove the chip from Marlena's brain which shocks him.

Marlena wakes up in her hospital bed with John at her side and she says Stefano's name.

Eric tells Nicole that she's scaring him and says she's not making any sense. He asks her what's going on. Nicole tells him that it started when she saw Xander and Dr. Raynor talking a few times. Nicole says she seemed so afraid and only would say that Xander wanted information on Mackenzie. Nicole calls it a coincidence that Dr. Raynor left Salem in the middle of treating Mickie. Nicole reveals that Xander and Victor paid her to disappear because they know the truth about Mickie's real parents. Eric tells her to stop saying that. Nicole reminds him of how hard Xander pushed to have Tate tested as a bone marrow donor. Nicole brings up Mickie's birth mark and that Brady and Kristen's baby had the same birth mark. Eric calls it a coincidence and argues that it doesn't mean anything. Nicole reveals that she took a DNA sample from Mickie to compare with Kristen's. Eric can't believe she did that without permission and lied about it. Nicole said she had to know the truth. Eric asks if it was a match. Nicole says it wasn't but she thought the test could've been tampered with so she went to see Dr. Raynor to get her to admit everything that happened which she finally did. Nicole tells Eric that she's so sorry but Mickie is not his little girl, she belongs to Brady and Kristen.

John asks Marlena to tell him that Stefano is out of her mind and that she's come back to him. Marlena confirms that Stefano is completely out of her mind and they kiss. John admits he was so afraid that he had lost her forever. Marlena says he found her and saved her and he's never going to lose her again. Marlena asks where Steve is. John says he's in the hospital but in police custody so he'll never hurt her again.

Stefano questions why Dr. Rolf would agree to help John. Rolf explains that he made it sound like Stefano's life was in danger. Stefano questions how he could be manipulated this way. Stefano asks how Marlena is. Dr. Rolf says she hadn't woke up yet. Stefano asks who's name she will speak when she wakes up. Dr. Rolf believes there's a great probability that it will be John. Dr. Rolf asks how he can make it up to him. Stefano says there may be something he can do.

Xander tells Justin that it's just bad enough that Maggie killed Adrienne but Sarah was in the car too so she and the baby could've been hurt too. Justin is sure Maggie thinks of that every day. Xander says he's just trying to give a little happiness to the woman he loves. Xander asks Justin to forget how much he hates him for an hour and do something special for Sarah.

Brady tells Sarah that he was worried Dr. Rolf might try something in the operating room. Sarah confirms that Kayla made sure he did everything by the book. Brady asks if he can see Marlena. Sarah says it should be fine. Brady asks Kristen if she wants to go with him to see Marlena which she agrees to. Brady thanks Sarah for the good news while she thanks him for watching Mickie.

Eric tells Nicole that this has to be a mistake. Nicole says she's so sorry. Eric questions if she's lying to him again. Nicole says she didn't want this to be true but she didn't want to tell him until she was sure and Dr. Raynor admitted everything. Nicole reveals that the baby that died was he and Sarah's. Eric holds back tears and picks up one of Mickie's toys. Nicole says she knows how much he loves her. Eric asks how this is possible and says he needs to know everything. Nicole explains that when his baby was in the nursery, she was near Kristen and Brady's baby while Xander and Victor were there. Nicole says they paid Dr. Raynor to switch the babies, keep quiet, and go away. Eric realizes that all this time Xander knew the truth and let them believe it was their baby. Eric cries that their little girl is gone and declares he's going to kill that son of a bitch.

Xander goes home to the Kiriakis Mansion to see Sarah. He informs her that Justin agreed to officiate their wedding tomorrow.

Kayla checks on Marlena and says everything looks good and she just needs to rest. Kayla says she's so happy that she's back. Kayla leaves as Brady and Kristen arrive. Brady praises Marlena looking good, healthy, and happy. John confirms they got Marlena back. Kristen adds that she''s so relieved that she's okay. Marlena asks about Brady's arm. Brady says he'll be okay. Marlena notes that Brady and John could've died trying to save her. Marlena tells Kristen that her father wreaked havoc on all of their lives. Kristen responds that she's as much to blame as he is because she kept his secret and chose loyalty over their safety. John agrees that Kristen could've stopped it then and none of this would've happened. Kristen apologizes to Marlena and hopes she can forgive her. Marlena recalls Kristen being concerned and intervening so she's grateful to her for that. Marlena knows there's been tension between them so she thinks it's time to put that to an end so they can all move forward. Kristen shakes hands with Marlena and thanks her. John thinks part of moving forward is getting Dr. Rolf to remove the microchip from Steve's brain and declares that once that happens, the Phoenix will never rise again..

Dr. Rolf tells Stefano that he understands completely what he wants him to do and promises not to let him down. Kayla returns and tells them their time is up. Stefano asks for word on Marlena. Kayla informs him that she's awake with John and back to her old self again. Stefano responds that he's not about to give up because their connection is too strong and she will be his again one day. Kayla calls him so delusional and warns that his days are numbered. Kayla brings up Dr. Rolf removing the chip from Hope and Marlena then tells him that he will do the same for Steve.

After leaving Marlena's room, Brady jokes with Kristen about becoming best friends with Marlena. Kristen says she wouldn't go that far but it was kind of her to forgive her. Brady declares that Stefano's reign of terror is done. Kristen brings up the Phoenix always rising. Brady encourages that they will move forward with a lot to look forward to. Brady says they can go find Eric to give him good news about Marlena.

Eric tells Nicole that he's going to rip Xander and Victor apart. Nicole tries to say that Victor was protecting Maggie but Eric shouts that they both played God. Eric asks what he's supposed to do now and if he's supposed to tell Sarah and say goodbye to his daughter. Nicole responds that maybe he doesn't have to. Eric asks if she's saying they should keep quiet and not tell anyone the truth.

Sarah questions what made Justin agree to officiate their wedding. Xander says he told him how loving her changed his life and made him wanna be a better person. Sarah calls him the best and says she can't wait to call him husband tomorrow. Sarah says she's so lucky to have him in her life as they kiss.

Kayla wants the chip out of Steve's brain as soon as possible and says they can schedule a procedure as early as tomorrow morning. Dr. Rolf laughs at her and says he has no intention of doing that as she will never make him destroy the one man who has always supported him and turned his dream to reality. Dr. Rolf declares that he will never remove that chip. Kayla says he has to but Stefano says he doesn't, which means Steve Johnson will be hosting him until the end of his life.

Marlena tells John that she kept hoping he would find her and save her and he did. John says there was no way he would let Stefano beat them.

Justin goes to the hospital to see Kayla. Kayla tells him that Marlena is fine and back to her old self but Dr. Rolf refuses to remove the chip from Steve's head. Kayla adds that he said nothing will change his mind. Justin asks if that means Steve will believe he's Stefano forever.

Sarah jokes that it's Xander's last day as a free man and asks if he's nervous. Xander responds that he's never been so sure of anything. Sarah says it's happening so quickly and asks if they are forgetting anything. They agreee that all they need is each other. Xander can't believe he's finally marrying the woman of his dreams and things are going to work out for both of them.

Nicole tells Eric that Sarah is a wonderful mother and he's a great dad and they've both been through so much to keep Mackenzie alive. Nicole says they are the parents that little girl loves and deserves. Eric says they aren't her parents so they need to tell the truth. Nicole argues that would just put her in the arms of an unstable, hateful woman. Eric points out that Brady says Kristen has changed. Nicole argues that no one can change that much that quickly. Nicole insists that Eric and Sarah are the best parents to raise Mackenzie and give her a wonderful life. Eric brings up Brady. Nicole says he's already grieving a child he thinks he lost. Eric calls it wrong and says Brady deserves to know he has a daughter. Nicole points out that he will hurt Sarah. Nicole knows how much Eric loves Brady and how he feels about secrets and lies but insists that Mackenzie's best chance at a happy life is with him and Sarah. Nicole tells Eric that it's up to him and she will follow his lead on whatever he decides. Nicole tells him that Brady, Sarah, and Kristen never have to know the truth. Brady and Kristen then show up outside, knocking on the door and asking if Eric is home.
