Lani and Eli watch Evan/Christian in the town square. Lani complains that all he does is sit there and read the newspaper so they are no closer to finding David. Eli says he can't sit there forever. Christian then gets up to leave the town square so Eli and Lani follow him out.

Chad says he hopes Stefano is pleased with Kate and Gabi out of the way so now he can start helping Stefano plan his party. Abigail then comes home and surprises Chad. Abigail said she missed him and the kids and JJ was fine so she hopped on a plane. Chad questions her not calling first. Abigail says she wanted to surprise him and notes that Chad doesn't seem very happy about that so she asks if everything is okay. Kate and Gabi lay unconscious behind the couch.

Marlena wakes up and acknowledges Stefano as her king as he helps her up. Stefano declares that the Queen of the Night has returned at last.

Lani calls Rafe, who is at the police station, and tells him that they thought Christian was on the move but he ducked in to a book store. Rafe worries that he saw them and now he'll never lead them to David. Rafe tells Lani to keep him posted and hangs up. Rafe then makes another call and says he needs their help.

Stefano shows Marlena that the cactus he got her has bloomed right as she came back to him, which he calls a reason to throw a party. Stefano informs her that Chad is putting it together as soon as he removes a couple of people from the guest list.

Chad tells Abigail that he is happy to see her. Abigail tells him that she missed him after being away for so long. Abigail asks if he's sure he's okay or if she caught him in the middle of something since he seems distracted. Chad says it's just that she came home without calling. Abigail jokingly asks if he doesn't have a tramp stashed here. Chad jokes that he has two actually. Chad then tells Abigail that he's glad she is home and kisses her, while Kate and Gabi remain in the floor behind the couch.

Sonny goes to the police station. Rafe thanks him for coming and reveals to him that it looks like Evan/Christian may be the son of Orpheus. Sonny thought he was dead. Rafe says he hoped so but now he doesn't know. Sonny asks how he knows that Christian is his son. Rafe informs him that Clyde told Ben that Orpheus offered him a deal to get him out of prison if he could get him a key to a safety deposit box that Jordan had, so he sent Orpheus and his son to get the key but never heard from him again. Rafe adds that he has reason to believe that Orpheus has David while Christian is running in circles since he knows he's being followed. Sonny asks how he fits in. Rafe hoped Sonny could talk to Christian/Evan and convince him to tell where Orpheus is so they can bring David home safely. Sonny doesn't think he'll listen to anything he has to say. Rafe talks about how David must be so scared so he thinks Sonny is the only person who can make Evan/Christian do the right thing. Sonny agrees to give it a try and exits the police station.

Eli and Lani continue to follow Christian through the town square. They see him sit down to make a phone call. Christian calls Orpheus and informs him that he's being watched but they can't trace this call. He asks how David is doing. Orpheus admits he's still running a bit of a fever. Christian wants him to get to urgent care but Orpheus says the police would be all over him. Orpheus argues that kids get fevers and it will go down soon. Orpheus promises he won't let anything happen to David because he is his flesh and blood.

Marlena asks Stefano why they are taking people off the guest list. Stefano says they were people who were not on their side and not loyal to the DiMera family so they are enemies, whose only goal was to overthrow them so he told Chad to get rid of them. Stefano reveals that he told Chad to eliminate them because they need to be stopped permanently. Marlena asks who the two people are. Stefano informs her that it's Gabi and Kate.

Lani wishes she could hear what Christian was saying on the phone. Eli bets he was talking to Orpheus. Eli grabs Lani and kisses her when Christian looks their way. Eli suggests she go to the police station and check in with Rafe. Christian then gets up to leave the town square when Sonny approaches him. He questions what he's doing here. Sonny says he hoped they could talk.

Abigail comes back to the living room after checking on the kids and questions Chad coming from the DiMera Tunnels. Chad claims he's just looking for Stefano. Abigail knows Stefano got in through the tunnels before but says now that he kidnapped Marlena, he won't be stupid enough to come through that way and ask for their help. Chad claims he just wanted to make sure he hadn't got back in now that Abigail is back. Chad remarks that all he saw were a couple of rats so Abigail wants to call an exterminator which Chad agrees to do.

Kate wakes up locked in the DiMera Tunnels. Kate realizes Chad got Gabi too and tries to wake her up.

Marlena tells Stefano that he can't kill Gabi and Kate because Gabi is his son's widow and Kate was his wife. Stefano argues that Kate didn't marry him out of love and he had to blackmail her. Marlena argues that it became real and she saw it. Stefano goes over Kate betraying him so she's only loyal to herself. Marlena questions killing her. Stefano brings up Kate marrying Andre and what happened to him. Stefano calls Kate her sworn enemy while Marlena declares that she is her friend so she forbids him to kill her.

Lani goes to the police station and tells Rafe that Christian got a burner phone and made a really long call. Rafe bets he was talking to Orpheus. Lani adds that Sonny showed up right as she was about to leave and he might be the one guy who can get through to him. Rafe then informs her that he sent Sonny there.

Christian questions how Sonny knew where to find him. Sonny says he knows he likes the coffee at the cafe. Christian guesses the cops sent him because he knows he's being watched. Sonny confirms that so Christian tries to leave but Sonny stops him and says he can't go on like this. Christian argues that David is his son so he's not giving him to Rafe or anybody else and as soon as he settles Jordan's accident, they will be on their way. Sonny asks if Orpheus is watching David and reveals that he knows Orpheus is his father and that he's alive and the police do too. Christian responds that David's grandfather won't let anything happen to him. Sonny argues that he's on the top 10 most wanted list and asks if he wants David in the middle of a shootout. Christian says his father won't let that happen. Sonny argues that Orpheus only wants what is best for Orpheus. Christian responds that it's not true because he risked everything to go pick up medicine for David. Sonny questions what kind of medicine and what's wrong with David.

Stefano calls Marlena a very loyal person, even to people who don't deserve it like Kate. Stefano says Kate is not the same woman that she was when Marlena befriended her and she hasn't been for a very long time. Marlena points out that she and Kate share a grandson. Stefano asks if she thinks Kate would stand up for her if she was in her shoes now. Stefano reminds her that Kate kept Princess Gina a secret to the police and lied to Roman about her affiliation with him. Stefano argues that Marlena means nothing to Kate as she always puts her own needs first. Marlena says that makes sense. Stefano advises her to let go of the past and live in the present. Marlena doesn't know what that means. Stefano tells her they can start right now as he turns on music and begins to dance with Marlena.

Kate wakes Gabi up. Gabi remembers Chad knocking her out and asks what is wrong with him.

Abigail complains to Chad about rats in their home and questions him being so calm. Chad says there is no point in freaking out. Chad tells her that he will call the exterminator and suggests Abigail go upstairs to change clothes. Abigail wants him to call someone to seal the tunnel entrances but Chad thinks that would be overreacting. Abigail doesn't want rats or people like Stefano entering whenever they want when her children live here. Chad responds that they are his kids too. Abigail questions him saying that like he's mad at her or something. Abigail points out that strange stuff has been happening like "Steve" fighting with Gabi and giving him Stefano's ring, which she points out that he is wearing. Chad calls it all he has left of his father. Abigail argues that the man who gave it to him is not his father. Chad claims he knows and that it's just a ring. Abigail disagrees and calls it a symbol. Abigail understands keeping it but feels wearing it is like Chad is marked by Stefano or on his side which she calls not possible.

Sonny tells Christian that he has a daughter and he's been through this before so if David is sick, he needs to see a doctor. Sonny says even before he got to know him, he could tell how much he loved David. Christian calls David his whole life and the reason he's on earth. Sonny argues that he needs to put David first and do right by him no matter what that means. Sonny tells him that he knows exactly what Orpheus is capable of. Christian argues that he's not dangerous to David. Sonny questions if he really knows Orpheus and if he can trust that man with his son.

Gabi can't believe Chad would do this to her. Kate says he did the same thing to her. Gabi knows he hates her guts but she never thought he would do something like this. Gabi questions what's going on with him. Kate mentions that when she saw Chad, "Steve" had just left Stefano's ring for him and he was different like he was saying Stefano's words. Kate adds that she found a letter that Stefano wrote to Chad but before she could read it, Chad came back so she hid it. Kate reveals that she kept it on her and pulls it out. Kate reads the letter where Stefano said to Chad that the time has come for him to know and understand his plan and that he had chosen Chad to be by his side as he rebuilds his empire.

Chad tells Abigail that his father held the family and business together. Abigail says he did that while doing horrible things to good people. Chad argues that his family has been pulled apart since Stefano disappeared so he's doing his best to put it back together again while the ring represents Stefano's power and strength as a symbol that says he's meant to carry it on. Chad hopes she can understand that. Abigail says she's trying. Chad brings up how Abigail felt when she learned Jack passed away before his book could be published while Chad knew it was important. Chad compares that to the ring and says there was good between them. Abigail says even if Stefano is alive, he kidnapped Marlena and Kayla and is doing bad things right now. Abigail respects that he's Chad's father but she sees him as a threat to them and their families. Abigail admits she's freaked out about what is happening in this house. Chad tells her that nothing happened to the kids while she was away so they are fine and he doesn't want to talk about his father anymore. Chad asks Abigail about her trip and how JJ and Theo are doing but guesses she's really tired. Abigail admits she is exhausted and apologizes for being hard on him. Abigail says she really missed him and the kids and being home. Abigail wants to go upstairs, take a shower, and get in bed with her husband. Chad says that sounds excellent and tells her to go up while he has some things to finish.

Kate asks Gabi what she thinks Stefano is up to. Gabi suggests she read the rest of the letter. Kate continues reading Stefano writing to Chad that he knows his children are the future and that family is the most important thing in life. Kate recalls Chad talking to Stefano's portrait and wearing the ring. Gabi questions Chad trying to kill them because he got a letter from Stefano. Kate brings up how Andre snuck in to a hypnosis session that Marlena was having with Chad a few years ago so she knows that Andre was previously able to brainwash Chad in to wanting nothing to do with Abigail and that he had planted "La Familia" as a trigger word in Chad's brain which is written in the letter. Kate thinks Chad did what he did to them because Stefano ordered him to.

Stefano and Marlena continue dancing together. Stefano says everything is falling in to place step by step until there is nothing between them. They almost kiss but Marlena pulls away so he ask her what's wrong.

Sonny tells Christian that Orpheus has a score to settle with people in this town and that's more important to him than he and David. Christian admits he doesn't know much about that. Sonny says he wasn't here when Brady was supposed to marry Theresa but Orpheus was after breaking out of prison with Clyde and Xander. Sonny says that while Xander tried to strangle the bride, Orpheus crashed the wedding and held hostages including putting a gun to Eve's head and shooting JJ in cold blood. Sonny adds that Orpheus put Kayla and Marlena in coffins to try and burn them alive so that's what he means by having a score to settle with people in this town. Sonny can't believe that he is his son because he's seen Christian with David and Arianna and he knows what he's like when they are alone. Christian calls what happened with Jordan an accident. Sonny says being a parent is putting your child's needs ahead of your own. Sonny argues that Rafe needs to be raising David and deep down he knows it. Sonny talks about Rafe not sleeping since he took David and says this won't end well for him. Sonny asks what if David's fever spikes and he needs to go the emergency room. Sonny argues that David could be getting sicker while Christian is doing nothing and asks if he will be able to live with himself after that.

Sonny goes to the police station where Lani thanks him for what he did for David. Sonny says he just hopes it turns out okay.

Orpheus plays with David in his motel room. Christian comes in. Orpheus said he told him to stay away. Christian says he had to see David and get him to a doctor. Orpheus argues that the police will have the place surrounded. Christian says it's too late for that and says they can come in now that he's got David. Rafe and Eli then enter. Orpheus asks if he's out of his mind. Christian says he's thinking pretty clearly and he loves David. Christian then hands David to Rafe. Rafe tells David he doesn't have to be scared anymore.

Abigail questions Chad having things to finish when she came home to spend time with him. Chad says he'll be up there before she's out of the shower. Abigail questions if it can't wait. Chad reminds her about the rats. Abigail says she can cope with rats for the night so they then exit together.

Kate tells Gabi that it's all starting to make sense as "Steve" managed to brainwash Chad and then ordered him to get rid of them, so if Gabi didn't walk in when she did, she'd probably be dead now. Kate doesn't understand why Chad didn't finish them off after knocking Gabi out. Gabi suggests someone else may have walked in. Kate figures this is only temporary.

Stefano asks Marlena what's wrong. She says she can't do this and thinks if they are having a party, she should go rest. Stefano tells her they have all the time in the world now.
