Ben calls Ciara from the prison. Ben mentions his execution in a few hours. Ciara insists they are getting him out of there. Ben tells her it's time to face reality. Ciara informs him that she has real news and explains that she told Rafe her theory about David's father killing Jordan and the DNA pretty much proved it so Rafe is going to help her find him and they will finally know the truth. Ciara declares that she will not give up or let him give up.

Rafe is at home where Evan tells him that he heard Gabi got released. Rafe comments that Gabi has a way of getting herself out of trouble. Rafe goes through the mail and questions there being nothing else besides this. Evan thinks back to stealing the letter trying to reach Rafe about the issue with Evan's background check but then tells Rafe that was all of it.

Xander goes to the hospital and tells Sarah that he's been worried. Sarah says there has been a lot going on and the transplant could take place as early as tomorrow so it's been really intense and she's been with Mickie all night. Sarah mentions that Eric is in with her now. Xander asks how Mickie is. Sarah encourages that she has a real chance even if it is because of Gabi. Xander tells her they really need to talk about Maggie.

Justin makes a call from home to confirm that the transfer is complete. Justin thinks back to Stefano's demands for ten million dollars if he wants Kayla back. Justin says he has Stefano's money so he wonders where Kayla and Stefano are. Maggie then shows up at Justin's door.

Chad is on the phone with Abigail, saying the kids are fine but he hasn't been sleeping well and has been having crazy dreams but they miss her. Chad says he promised the kids they would video chat tonight. Chad talks about Steve becoming Stefano and he's still out there as he hasn't heard from him but it seems he may have kidnapped Kayla. Stefano then appears in the opening to the DiMera Tunnels behind Chad.

Evan asks Rafe what he's looking for and offers to help. Rafe says it's the paperwork he filed to adopt David awhile back as he figured he would've heard something by now as he's excited to get on with it. Evan calls David a great kid and offers to check recycling or with the mail carrier but Rafe tells him not to worry about it and that he will call soon if he doesn't hear anything. Rafe then exits.

Ciara tells Ben that Rafe has a friend at the FBI who is testing the DNA with everyone in the criminal database. Ben asks what if he doesn't have a criminal record. Ciara knows it's a long shot but it's all they have to go on right now. Ciara says if David's father has a criminal record, they might can postpone Ben's execution so they can track him down. Ciara tells Ben that she won't give up until he's back home with her where he belongs. Ben tells her that he appreciates it more than she knows but they are looking at a lot of if's while time is running out.

Chad finishes his call with Abigail as Stefano watches and thinks back to drugging Chad's drink. Stefano starts to come out but Gabi enters the living room so Stefano goes back into the tunnels. Chad questions what she's doing here. Gabi tells him that she's free and thought he would want to be the first to know.

Sonny goes to see Evan and tells him he can't stay long but he has some news that he felt he had to deliver in person. Sonny reveals that Will did not kill his mom, it was his aunt Maggie. Evan asks if he's sure. Sonny says he just found out last night as Maggie didn't remember any of it until yesterday. Evan doesn't understand since Will confessed. Sonny explains that Will thought he was guilty because he was looking at his phone instead of the road so he just assumed it was his fault. Sonny says that Will has been in prison all this time for a crime he did not commit.

Ciara encourages Ben to find some hope because they are so close to proving he's innocent. Ben points out they thought that before. Ciara insists that she feels this time is it. Ciara says she's going to the police station and tells Ben to call her any time he gets the chance if possible. Ciara wants Ben to promise to be more optimistic which he agrees to. Ben says he will call her later as they hang up. Will then enters the prison visiting area so Ben asks him what's going on. Will informs him that Maggie turned herself in last night for killing Adrienne. Ben thought she didn't remember any of that night. Will guesses she does now. Ben calls that great news because Will is going to get out. Will says he's not sure what happens next.

Sarah is thankful that Maggie is out on bail and says she will call her later but right now she has to get back to Mickie. Xander wants to explain things but Sarah says she understands that he and Victor let Will go to prison for something he didn't do, destroying his life and marriage. Sarah argues that Xander knew and said nothing. Xander said he did it to protect Maggie because she loved Adrienne so much and they were afraid that the guilt would tear her apart. Sarah says what happened was terrible and her heart goes out to Maggie but she's proud of her for having the courage to come forward and take responsibility instead of living a lie like Xander and Victor did. Xander insists that Maggie was their priority because she is fragile and had a hell of a year so they lied to protect her. Xander says they are scared that Maggie won't survive prison or the guilt.

Maggie tells Justin that she's so sorry. Justin says now is not a good time. Maggie says there's never a good time after what she's done. Justin says at least she's out on bail. Maggie responds that she doesn't want to be and doesn't deserve to be but Victor's lawyers did their job. Maggie knows Justin doesn't want to see or speak to her but she needs to talk to him. Justin agrees to let her in.

Stefano listens in from the tunnels as Chad comments on Gabi using a baby's life as leverage to get free. Gabi thinks even Stefano would be impressed at how she got all the charges against her dropped. Chad questions how she lives with herself. Gabi argues that she's saving a child's life. Gabi says all she has to do is a small medical procedure. Chad brings up what people can do while you're unconscious for a medical procedure, like tampering with a pacemaker. Gabi says no one would dare mess with her when they need her bone marrow to save Mackenzie's life. Chad calls her disgusting and tells her to get out of this house. Gabi responds that it's her house and she's not going anywhere as Stefano remains hiding in the tunnels.

Maggie tells Justin there is no excuse for what she did and she swears she didn't remember a thing until yesterday. Justin remarks that if she knew sooner, Adrienne would still be dead. Maggie knows the damage is done as Adrienne is gone and Will spent all that time in prison because of her crime. Maggie cries that she has shattered Justin's family. Justin responds that drunk driving can do that. Maggie knows she can't undo it or make up for what she's taken but she just wanted to tell him how sorry she is.

Ciara rushes to the police station to ask Rafe if he heard anything yet. Rafe tells her that his FBI contact is checking the DNA sample with every criminal database so it could take awhile. Ciara argues that they are running out of time as Ben's execution is in a few hours. Rafe doesn't know what she wants him to do. Ciara suggests calling again. Rafe then gets a call.

Will tells Ben that it's not a given that he will go free. Ben asks what he's talking about since someone confessed to the crime he's been locked up for, so he's going home. Will still can't believe this is happening. Ben is glad that it is and that Maggie came forward with the truth to save Will from himself. Will asks if it's weird to say he's almost going to miss Ben. Will wishes Ben was getting out too and going home. Will refuses to accept his execution happening, pointing out that everything was against him and now he's getting out so the same can happen for Ben. Ben says he sounds just like Ciara and mentions her new lead and how she's not giving up. Ben says even if Ciara finds something, it will probably be too little too late. Will bets on Ciara coming through for him but he wishes there was something he could do. Ben pulls out his request form for his last meal and says Will can help him fill it out.

Gabi suggests champagne to celebrate her release. Chad says she can drink alone. Gabi says she'll call Mr. Shin to reconsider firing her since the charges are dropped so she's pretty much innocent. Chad argues that she will never be the head of DiMera again. Gabi says maybe, maybe not but as Stefan's widow, this is her house. Chad says it won't be long before they get rid of her once and for all. Gabi wishes him luck with that. Chad says just talking to her gives him a headache so he's going to get some aspirin. Chad tells her to enjoy being queen of the manor while it lasts as he then exits the room. Gabi says she's going to burn her wedding dress and that it's so good to be home. Stefano then sneaks up from behind her and startles her.

Rafe answers the call and says he hasn't gotten any letter so he asks what it's about. Rafe thanks for the call back and says he'll be in touch. Ciara asks what's going on. Rafe says his adoption process has hit a snag.

Evan says Will being innocent is huge and asks what that means for he and Sonny. Sonny says he has no idea as his head is all over the place right now. Sonny says he cares about Evan a lot which is why he came to see him in person. Evan understands Will is the love of his life. Sonny notes that they were only getting divorced because he thought Will killed his mom.

Maggie tells Justin that she loved Adrienne so much and will never forgive herself for what she's done. Justin asks if she came for absolution. Maggie says all she can do is take responsibility for her actions and let him know that she will plead guilty. Justin brings up Victor and his lawyers. Maggie says it's her choice just like driving drunk was which changed Justin, Sonny and Will's lives forever. Maggie says she's pleased that Justin found comfort and love again. Maggie wants to apologize to Kayla but Justin says she's not here. Justin apologizes and says now is not a good time and he really doesn't want to talk about this anymore. Maggie says she understands and exits.

Gabi threatens to call the police but Stefano stops her and doubts the police will be in any mood to hear what she has to say. Stefano calls the exploding pacemaker something he would've done back in the day, comparing it to when he had Dr. Rolf implant a chip in Vivian's tooth to control her behavior. Gabi says she hates Vivian and blames her for Stefan's death. Stefano regrets not getting to know his son but he finds it better to look forward. Gabi suggests they could work something out.

Ben guesses his last meal doesn't matter. Will encourages that miracles do happen and he's proof of that. Ben says he's so happy for Will. Ben asks Will to look out for Ciara if things don't work out for him which he promises to do.

Rafe tells Ciara that child welfare has been trying to get in touch with him about Evan's background check and says he didn't get either letter. Rafe then thinks back to asking Evan about the mail earlier. Rafe then realizes he needs to deal with this right now because Evan is alone with his kid. Ciara asks what if the call about the DNA sample comes in from his FBI contact. Rafe says he'll get in touch with his contact and tell her to let Ciara know anything. Rafe says he'll be back as soon as he can as he rushes out of the station.

Sarah gets that Xander loves Maggie and wanted to protect her but that doesn't excuse he and Victor ruining Will's life. Xander argues that they didn't frame Will, they just went along with his assumption. Sarah says that doesn't make it okay. Xander argues that Will wasn't innocent as he was texting and driving. Sarah points out that he didn't run them off the road. Xander says he wouldn't take back any of the time Maggie got to spend with her granddaughter. Xander says that Maggie and Sarah's happiness is everything to him so he wouldn't change a thing.

Stefano tells Gabi that his son may have fallen for her sass but it won't work on him. Gabi argues that she and Stefan loved each other while Stefano argues that she seduced him and it had nothing to do with love, just money and revenge. Gabi calls that not true. Stefano calls her a calculating, cold-blooded, soul sucking user. Gabi calls Stefan the love of her life and says she will never get over losing him. Gabi says she grieves him every day. Stefano questions letting her live in his house and run his company. Gabi argues that Chad is weak while Kristen was never really his daughter. Stefano yells at her to not say another word about her children. Stefano warns her that she may have married into this family but she will not get anything from him, not the house or his company. Gabi says he's just an essence and they'll see about that. Stefano says he could've done much more than scare her now so he warns her not to cross him. Stefano than goes back in to the DiMera Tunnels. Chad returns to the room. Gabi says she got held up by a visitor as he just missed his father which surprises him.

Justin wonders where Stefano is and then he shows up at his door. Stefano hopes he took his warning seriously and didn't alert anyone. Justin confirms he hasn't said a word to anyone and he has his ten million dollars. Justin adds that Stefano won't see a penny until he returns Kayla to him.

Sarah knows Xander loves her, Maggie, and Mickie but asks him to promise no more lies because they always come out and make things worse. Xander agrees and promises no more lies. Sarah asks what happens now and if he and Victor are going to get in legal trouble because of this cover up. Xander says that Victor is just worried about Maggie going to prison which he doesn't think he could take. Sarah can't believe they are having this conversation or that Maggie killed Adrienne. Maggie arrives and asks if Sarah can forgive her.

The phone rings at the police station so Ciara answers and asks if they were able to turn up anything in the database search.

Evan asks Sonny if he and Will are going to pick up where they left off when Will gets out of prison. Sonny has no idea as he hasn't spoken to Will but he felt Evan had the right to know. Rafe comes home. Sonny asks if he heard the news about Maggie and Will being innocent. Rafe says he will get those answers for him but right now he needs to speak to Evan alone. Sonny says he'll be in touch and exits. Evan asks Rafe what's up. Rafe informs him that child welfare just said they sent him two letters but he never got them so he asks what happened to them. Evan claims he doesn't know. Rafe warns him not to lie to a police officer and asks why he took the letters. Rafe asks what he's hiding. Evan says he's not hiding anything so Rafe questions why he changed his name.

Chad questions Stefano being there and why Gabi didn't call the police. Gabi points out that she's not their favorite person right now. Chad asks what Stefano wanted. Gabi says he wanted to scare her and to put her on notice that she will not get his company. Gabi adds that it sounded like Stefano wanted the company back for himself so he should forget about teaming up with him. Chad asks where he went. Gabi directs him to the tunnels so Chad goes to search for him but finds an envelope. Chad opens it and it's a letter from Stefano, saying the time is coming when he must know and understand his plan. Chad finds Stefano's ring with the letter.

Stefano tells Justin that Kayla's return won't be that simple. Justin questions what game he's playing. Stefano says he needs one more thing from him, warning that Justin has a lot more to lose than he does.

Sonny goes home to the Kiriakis Mansion and calls the babysitter to pick up Arianna from school. Sonny then hangs up and Will enters the mansion as a free man.

Ben calls Ciara, saying he got her message and asks if she has an update. Ciara tells him it's huge as she spoke to the FBI and there was a hit off of the DNA sample found on Jordan. Ciara confirms David's father had a criminal record and they have a name.

Evan asks what Rafe is talking about. Rafe doesn't know why he changed his name but he knows his real name is Christian Maddox.

Ciara reveals to Ben that David's father's name is Christian Maddox.
