Days of Our Lives Update Wednesday 2/26/20

Eli goes to JJ's apartment to see Lani and says he hoped they could talk. Lani thought he needed space. Eli knows he said that but that was until everything he thought he knew went to Hell. Eli tells her that Valerie and Julie made him realize that the only villain in this is Gabi.

Sarah can't believe the district attorney is refusing to drop the charges against Gabi when her bone marrow is the only thing that could save their baby. Eric suggests finding another donor. Sarah points out how long it took to find Gabi and argues they don't have time as Mickie needs the transplant now.

Justin calls Chad and tells him that Kayla is still missing, she hasn't come home or shown up at the hospital. Chad questions if he really thinks she was kidnapped by Stefano. Justin tells him they saw footage from the hospital that she left with a man that could've been "Steve". Chad says he's tried to get a hold of Stefano but he hasn't responded to him. Justin tells him to call he or Rafe if he hears from him as they hang up. Stefano then shows up at Justin's door.

Sonny walks in to the living room of the Kiriakis Mansion, questioning Victor saying that Maggie killed his mom when they know that Will did.

Eric tells Sarah that he's with her on this but the D.A. won't cave. Sarah wants to go after Gabi but Eric says that's not the answer. Sarah argues that they have to convince her to stop playing games, crying that she can't lose her daughter. Eric tells her that he has an idea.

Xander tells Sonny that it was Will since he confessed to texting and driving. Sonny asks why Victor said Maggie killed his mom then. Xander says that Maggie was feeling very guilty about the accident since Adrienne wouldn't have been in the car if she had just taken Sarah to the hospital. Sonny reminds Maggie that Adrienne offered to drive Sarah so she doesn't have to feel guilty. Maggie then reveals to Sonny that Will is innocent as she's the one who caused the crash that killed Sonny's mother.

Justin grabs Stefano, demanding to know where Kayla is. Stefano suggests he unhand him if he ever wants to see Kayla again. Justin lets him go so Stefano says they can negotiate Kayla's return. Stefano responds that he's willing to let her go for a price.

Chad goes to the interrogation room to see Gabi, who questions what he's doing here. Chad says he's here to celebrate. Gabi questions him being here to gloat which Chad confirms. Chad informs Gabi that the board has unanimously voted to have her removed as CEO of DiMera which means she's fired.

At Julie's Place, Abe makes a call trying to find out why Gabi turned down the plea deal. Eric and Sarah arrive and tell Abe that they may be able to answer that as Gabi turned down the plea deal to angle for a better deal, using their daughter as leverage.

Sonny tells Maggie this doesn't make any sense since she was home that night and passed out so she was nowhere near the accident. Maggie says she thought that because she blacked out but tonight, bits and pieces started coming back to her memory. Maggie says she got drunk and must have gotten in the car because she remembers waking up on the side of the road. Sonny argues that doesn't mean she caused the accident. Maggie reminds him that Sarah told the police that the car that swerved in to their lane was black while Will's is grey. Sonny thinks it was just a mistake because it was dark but Maggie assures him that she was on the road that night and Will just assumed he caused the crash but he didn't. Maggie cries that it was her.

Justin questions it being true that Stefano is in Steve's body. Stefano wants to talk money. Justin first wants proof that Kayla is alright so Stefano shows him a photo on his phone of Kayla holding today's copy of the Spectator. Justin calls him a son of a bitch. Stefano says she's still alive for now. Justin threatens him. Stefano says he has no intention of harming Kayla as she's much more useful to him alive than dead, as long as Justin is willing to give him what he wants for her safe return. Stefano wants 10 million dollars.

Chad tells Gabi that it's funny that all he had to do was watch Gabi self-destruct as she was arrested by her own brother at her own wedding. Gabi tells him to get out. Chad jokes about replaying the moment over and over in his head. Gabi tells him as soon as she gets out, she will wipe the grin off his face. Chad is not too concerned but Gabi informs him that she could be getting out today. Chad argues that she confessed to trying to kill Julie in front of all of the guests at her wedding and then tried to kill Julie so it's an airtight case and there's no way the D.A. is going to drop the charges. Gabi says unless she happens to hold the life of Sarah and Eric's baby girl in her hands.

Abe can't believe Gabi is refusing to donate her bone marrow unless the charges are dropped. Abe says they can't allow her to manipulate the system. Sarah begs him to convince the D.A. to change his mind. Abe says he's sympathetic to their situation but Gabi tried to destroy his daughter's life and would've killed Julie if she hadn't been stopped, so he questions helping Gabi walk away unpunished. Abe doesn't know that he can do that.

Lani brings up Eli saying he couldn't just turn off his feelings for Gabi even after everything she did. Eli says that was his pride talking but his relationship with Gabi was based on lies. Eli tells Lani that he wanted to get over her so badly that he threw himself into another relationship. Eli says he worked hard to convince himself that he hated Lani then when he saw her at the convent and on New Year's Eve, his old feelings came back. Eli says he steamrolled into a wedding with Gabi thinking it would help him get over Lani but then she came to the wedding and he saw the truth that he never wants to lose her again. Lani asks if this means he doesn't hate her anymore. Eli then kisses Lani.

Sonny can't believe this as he thought Will killed his mom all this time, he's been in prison for months, and they drew up divorce papers because he couldn't get past what he did. Sonny realizes he has to tell Will but Victor reveals that he already knows which Sonny questions. Victor explains that Will knows Maggie caused the crash and has agreed to keep it a secret.

Eli apologizes to Lani for putting her off. Lani understands he had a lot to absorb and she was willing to wait no matter how long it took because she knew God would bring them back together. Lani says she prayed for them to get back together and she really believes that God answered her prayers as they continue kissing.

Eric tells Abe that he's not asking him to save Gabi but to save his little girl. Abe says his heart breaks for what they are going through. Eric understands he's conflicted. Sarah argues that without the transplant, their baby will die. Sarah knows Abe loves Lani and wants justice for her and Julie but asks what if it was Lani that needed the transplant. Sarah argues that Abe would give in to any demands.

Justin questions Stefano wanting 10 million dollars, arguing that Stefano DiMera doesn't need Kiriakis money. Stefano says Steve's body may have had it's advantages to move around town freely but no one wants to give him Stefano DiMera's money when he doesn't look like Stefano, including his own children. Justin brings up Chad shooting him. Stefano calls it an accident then says Justin's girlfriend fixed him up. Stefano says his options are limited so he needs Justin's help to shore up his finances. Justin responds that he doesn't have that kind of money. Stefano points out that his uncle Victor does.

Victor informs Sonny that he spoke to Will earlier and he promised not to tell anyone the truth. Sonny questions Will being willing to stay in prison even if he knew he was innocent. Sonny then questions Victor talking to Will before Maggie remembered everything and then asks if that means Victor knew Will was innocent which he confirms. Sonny asks how he knew. Xander reveals that he found Maggie passed out in her car that night, called Victor to take her home, and the next day she didn't remember a thing so they thought it best to stay that way. Sonny can't believe they knew the whole time that Will was innocent and didn't cause the accident. Victor says they had to protect Maggie while Sonny screams at him for throwing he and his husband under the bus. Sonny asks how Victor could do this to them, crying that it tore his heart apart and their lives while Victor watched it happen and did nothing. Xander tries to interrupt but Sonny yells at him to shut the hell up. Sonny says Xander and Victor both make him sick. Sonny then turns to Maggie. Xander argues that Maggie didn't know any of this until tonight so it's not her fault. Sonny screams that Maggie killed his mother, asking how she could be this irresponsible when she lost her son to a drunk driver. Sonny questions if she thought of Daniel for a minute before she got drunk and got behind the wheel. Maggie cries that she's sorry and doesn't know why she did it. Maggie guesses she was trying to get to Sarah. Sonny screams that she drove Sarah off the road, killed his mom, and she's lucky that she didn't kill her daughter and her granddaughter too. Maggie breaks down crying while Victor and Xander look at one another after those comments.

Sarah cries to Abe that their children are everything to them and she can't lose her little girl. Abe says she can't and she won't as they have to put Mickie first so he will talk to the D.A. Sarah hugs him and thanks him. Abe warns them that this D.A. doesn't like being told what to do so he doesn't know if he can convince him to make a deal. Sarah suggests firing him and hiring one that will if it will save her baby's life.

Chad questions Gabi being a match for Mickie. Gabi confirms her bone marrow can help save her life. Chad guesses she will only agree to donate if Eric and Sarah can get the D.A. to drop the charges. Chad questions her using a child's life as a bargaining chip when she's a mother. Gabi argues she doesn't want anything to happen to Mickie but they can both win. Chad calls her unbelievable. Gabi says if he's done here, he can go. Gabi adds that he can thank Abigail for her since she wouldn't have gotten tested if Abigail didn't mention it. Gabi credits Abigail for a get out of jail free card. Chad says if the D.A. does drop the charges, everyone in town will know that she used a child's life to gain her freedom. Gabi doesn't care because she will be free and have her daughter so nothing else matters. Chad argues that she will have no job, no friends, and no marriage. Chad points out that Eli and Rafe won't be able to stand the sight of her so she will have nothing. Gabi declares she's come back from having nothing before so she can do it again.

Eli tells Lani that Valerie and Julie were not letting it go unless he came straight here. Eli points out they are back in his old apartment where they fell in love and made so many memories for the future. Lani says she was thankful for JJ letting her stay here but it wasn't easy with all the memories they created here. Eli suggests they make some new memories, noting that JJ is out of the country so they have the whole place to themselves and then they start kissing as Eli carries Lani onto the bed.

Justin argues that Stefano isn't as sharp as he used to be if he thinks Victor will hand over that kind of money to his sworn enemy. Stefano feels he will do it for Justin so he doesn't lose his love right after losing his wife. Stefano remarks that Justin didn't waste any time getting back in the saddle, but notes that his attention kept Kayla off his back with the divorce papers. Justin argues that he didn't do it to help him. Stefano tells him that he should be grateful to him because Steve Johnson was on his way home to be reunited with Kayla when his people intercepted him, allowing Kayla to be free to help Justin pick up the pieces after Adrienne died. Stefano warns him to get the money if he doesn't want to lose his life with Kayla. Stefano says he would return Kayla and then quietly disappear with Steve Johnson out of the picture for good, so Justin would have Kayla's full attention and they could get on with living happily ever after. Justin tells him that he and Kayla love each other so they aren't threatened by Steve Johnson. Stefano warns that he should be because Steve is the love of her life, so as long as he's around, Kayla will do everything she can to get Steve back. Justin asks if that's even possible. Stefano says it's not but they both know she will never stop trying. Justin argues that no one deserves what's happened to Steve. Stefano says it's worked out well for him. Justin tries to get through to Steve inside. Stefano laughs him off and says Kayla tried that too but Steve Johnson is gone forever. Stefano tells Justin that he's the only person who can help Kayla now, whether she lives or dies is up to him. Stefano suggests he ask Victor for the 10 million dollars. Stefano adds that contacting the police would be a fatal mistake. He says he'll be in touch and then exits.

Victor tells Sonny not to blame Maggie as it was an accident. Sonny says maybe, but what Victor and Xander did was no accident as they decided to allow his husband to take the fall for a crime he did not commit. Sonny shouts that now they are going to get him out. Victor argues that he'd be condemning Maggie to life in prison. Maggie points out that Will has been behind bars for months because of something she did and that ends tonight. Maggie tells Sonny how much she loved Adrienne but she's responsible for taking her away. Maggie wishes she lost her life that night and cries that she can never make up to Sonny for what she's done but she's going to try. Maggie says she's more sorry than he will ever know.

Chad tells Gabi that it will be hard to come back from nothing when nobody wants her. Chad says the board won't take her back with too much bad press. Gabi argues that they won't have much choice because Kristen has a worse reputation than her and Stefano is a wanted man while Chad was enabling him so they won't put him in charge. Gabi mocks the idea of Stefano's essence being inside Steve and says Mr. Shin won't have confidence in his judgment so he'll be begging her to come back. Chad declares that even if the D.A. drops the charges, she will never come back to DiMera and he will do everything in his power to make sure of that.

Sarah and Eric go back to the police station while Abe talks to the district attorney. Eric encourages her to keep the faith. Sarah can't believe of all people, the match had to be Gabi. Eric says it still means that Mickie has a real chance. Sarah agrees to focus on the positive that Mickie will get better as long as the D.A. gives in to Gabi's demands. Abe comes out so Sarah asks what the D.A. said.

Eli and Lani kiss in bed. Eli says he's really glad he came over and got over himself but his one regret is that he didn't tell her something earlier. Eli says maybe he was afraid or scared of getting hurt but that's what love is about. Eli then tells Lani that he loves her and he never stopped. Lani says she loves him too as they continue kissing.

Abe enters the interrogation room. Gabi wasn't expecting him. Abe tells Gabi to shut up and listen. Abe tells her that he hates what she did to his daughter. Abe calls her vindictive and heartless beyond reason. Abe says after she tried to kill Julie, he believes she deserves to spend the rest of her life behind bars but a baby's life is at stake. Abe says it twists his guts to say this but Gabi is getting her devil's bargain. Gabi thanks him. Abe tells her not to thank him. Abe adds that Eli went to see Lani and he suspects they are working things out as they speak. Abe says as much as Gabi may have regained her freedom, he's very happy to say that she has lost Eli for good.

Sarah and Eric hug as Sarah exclaims that Mickie has a real chance and they just had to believe. Eric says Abe getting the charges dropped was a real miracle. Sarah can't wait to tell Maggie and Xander. Xander and Maggie then arrive at the police station. Sarah says she was just about to call and asks what they are doing here. Maggie reveals that she's turning herself into the police, confusing Sarah and Eric.

Sonny sits with a photo of he and Will with Adrienne. Sonny says all this time he thought his mom died because of Will but it was never his fault. Justin arrives looking to speak to Victor but Sonny says he's not here. Justin sees Sonny crying and asks him what's wrong. Sonny tells him he needs to sit down because there's something he needs to tell him..

Chad goes home to the DiMera Mansion and puts the old portrait of Stefano back on the wall of the living room and says it would've been nice to have him in the flesh. Chad takes a drink and wonders why Stefano didn't just turn himself in so they could've got some answers. Chad then exits the living room while Stefano emerges from the DiMera Tunnels and says he's sorry but he's not about to give up now. Stefano flashes back revealing that he poured something in to the drink that Chad just took. Stefano declares that he's so close to getting everything he wants..
