JJ comes home where Lani tells him that she hasn't slept because Eli is really going to marry Gabi.

Eli joins Doug in Julie's hospital room. They talk about Julie getting a new pacemaker. Julie talks about being excited to marry Eli and Gabi but Eli says there is something he needs to tell her.

At the DiMera Mansion, Gabi meets with the tech guy of Julie's new pacemaker and assures that she will have full control over this one via the app on her phone. Gabi says that means she'll have full control over Lani which is a perfect wedding present to herself.

At the police station, Shawn calls Ciara and leaves a message that he heard about Ben's escape and asks her to steer clear of him. Shawn adds that he needs her to call him back as it's important and about her mom. Rafe then brings Princess Gina into the station.

The tech guy questions Gabi getting married again. Gabi responds that she is marrying the patient's grandson.

Julie questions if Eli and Gabi are still getting married. Eli tells her it's not about the wedding but about her procedure as they can't seem to find Kayla.

Kayla covers up "Steve's" gunshot wound. He says if she hadn't hidden him and fixed him up, he could be dead right now so he thanks her. Kayla responds that's what ex-wives are for. She's glad he's doing better and now it's time for her to go. "Steve" tells her that he's sorry but he can't let her leave.

Rafe brings Princess Gina into the interrogation room. She demands he let her go and calls this insanely ridiculous. Rafe sits her down and handcuffs her to the chair. She demands to speak to her attorney and accuses him of kidnapping her. Rafe then exits the room, leaving Gina handcuffed. Shawn asks Rafe if Hope's really turned in to Princess Gina which Rafe confirms. Shawn asks about John and Marlena since Belle has been worried sick. Rafe tells him they are okay since they kept Gina from kidnapping Marlena so they were able to take a separate flight back. Shawn asks about Kate, assuming she's been arrested. Rafe informs him that Kate is being arraigned as they speak. Shawn hopes they throw the book at her since Hope needed help but Kate did whatever Stefano told her and said screw everybody else. Shawn says they need to focus on getting his mom back. Rafe informs him that according to Gina, Hope is not coming back.

Lani complains about the thought of Eli being taken in by Gabi and questions if he's forgotten what Gabi did to Abigail and if he doesn't see that she's a selfish little slut. Lani questions how Eli trusts Gabi marrying someone else right after Stefan and argues that everything out of her mouth is a disgusting lie. Lani says it makes her sick to think of them together. JJ tells her to stop doing this to herself but Lani says she can't. JJ tells Lani that the wedding is not going to happen because by then Julie will have a new pacemaker and will be out of danger. Lani reminds JJ that Gabi knows about the new pacemaker so she's going to try to screw with it.

Gabi tells the tech guy not to screw up. He says all he has to do is get to the hospital and get the pacemaker to the doctor doing the procedure. She reminds him that this is their little secret. Chad and Abigail walk in asking what secret that is.

Kayla questions "Steve" telling her that she can't go, calls him a jerk, and says that she's leaving. "Steve" argues that he needs her but Kayla says so does Julie because she's getting her pacemaker changed out today and she's doing the procedure. "Steve" points out that she's not a cardiologist and suggests someone else can do it. Kayla insists he will be just fine until she comes back. "Steve" repeats that he can't let her leave.

JJ thinks Lani is overreacting and that Gabi has had enough revenge. JJ feels Gabi thinks she's getting married so she thinks she won so he asks why she would go after Julie again. Lani says it's because Gabi is insane. JJ points out that Gabi thinks Lani is gone so she thinks she's in the clear. Lani argues that Gabi is not normal and driven by hate. JJ points out that Gabi and Julie are close now. Lani calls it all an act for Gabi to dig her claws in to Eli. Lani states that Gabi doesn't have a conscience and doesn't care whose life she destroys as long as she get what she wants so they can't trust her.

Gabi complains about Chad and Abigail not knocking. Abigail says they live here. Chad questions who the guy is and what they are doing. Gabi claims he is her jeweler since she bought a watch for Eli. Chad asks to see it but Gabi says no one will see it until Eli does. The tech guy then leaves while Gabi asks Chad and Abigail not to spoil the surprise. Abigail remarks that they know what happens when people get in her way.

Shawn asks Rafe what Princess Gina said. Rafe explains that while taking Gina into custody, he told her that she would be gone forever and that Hope was coming back but Gina seemed unphased by that as she said that Hope is gone forever. Shawn argues that Dr. Rolf has to undo whatever he did. Rafe points out that they don't know what they are dealing with here. Rafe mentions that Gina said what Dr. Rolf did was permanent. Shawn argues that there can't be a way to permanently erase someone's personality. Shawn refuses to believe that his mom is gone and that Gina has taken over. Shawn declares he's going to find Dr. Rolf to make him turn her back and then he's going to kill him.

Kayla questions "Steve" repeating that he can't let her leave. Kayla argues that she's only helping him becasue she wants to see Stefano taken down for all that he has done. Kayla reminds "Steve" that he dumped her and didn't even bother to come back to town. Kayla adds that she shouldn't be talking to him or helping him after how cruel he was to her. She says him signing the divorce papers shattered her as she wondered how Steve could turn in to such a heartless bastard. Kayla questions how they could be so in love and he just throw it away. "Steve" calls it very sad. Kayla responds that his life is sadder and what lies ahead when he realizes what he's done. Kayla knows the love they had was extraordinary. Kayla says they were best friends. Kayla adds that she knows he feels damn guilty for abandoning her, his life, and their family. "Steve" respond that people grow apart. Kayla questions what has happened to him. Kayla tells him that he can change his own damn bandages and goes to storm out but "Steve" stops her, warning her that she's in just as much danger as John and Marlena. "Steve" remarks that he's not threatening her, Stefano is..

JJ tells Lani that he's doing everything he can to make sure Gabi doesn't do anymore harm but it doesn't help to hear how much Lani hates her. Lani agrees and apologizes. JJ says he's going to the hospital to keep an eye on things and if Gabi shows up, he'll handle it but she's probably getting ready to get married. Lani apologizes to JJ for dumping all her misery on him when he's been great. JJ says she did the same for him as if it wasn't for her, he would be in an Italian prison right now so he hopes he can return the favor. Lani tells him that he already has.

Julie questions Kayla missing. Eli says he left Justin a message and guesses she probably got tied up. Kayla asks if this means she can't have her procedure today. Eli tells her that everything is still going according to schedule and the cardiologist will do it. Doug thinks they should wait until they hear from Kayla but Eli thinks it's more important to have her pacemaker inserted. Julie agrees since she has a wedding to perform tonight. Doug insists on waiting for Kayla but Julie disagrees.

Gabi tells Chad and Abigail that she has things to do so she has to go. Chad says he has something he needs to tell her. Gabi asks if it can wait because it's her wedding day and Arianna is sick so Sonny can't go, Eli is worried about Julie, and she's worried about everything. Chad tells her it's about the company which gets Gabi's attention. Gabi asks what it is. Chad informs her that Stefano is back.

"Steve" begs Kayla to think about what's happening here and says they have their children to consider if Stefano is on the loose because he will target the people he loves. Kayla thinks he's just trying to scare her while "Steve" says he's trying to protect her. Kayla argues that nobody followed them last night so nobody knows he's here. "Steve" says this is Stefano they are talking about so they won't have any idea where he is until they are face to face. "Steve" remarks that Stefano is much closer than Kayla thinks.

Eli tells Julie that everything is set so she will be in and out in no time. Eli says he still has some stuff to do. Julie tells him that she will marry him to the girl of his dreams in a few hours. Eli then exits. Doug asks if Julie is sure she's up for surgery and a wedding in the same day. Julie says her grandson doesn't get married every day so that's that. Julie brings up Eli being so down when Lani ditched him and then along came Gabi. Julie remarks that she's never been so wrong about another human being in her entire life.

JJ runs in to Gabi's tech guy at the hospital and asks if he knows him from somewhere.

After Chad fills Gabi in, she laughs at the idea of Stefano coming back and taking over Steve Johnson's body, saying it's not real. Chad adds that Stefano tried to kill Hattie so imagine how he feels about the woman running his company.

Kayla tells "Steve" that she knows how Stefano operates as she's dealt with him and his stooges before. "Steve" tells her this time is different as Stefano is desperate with nothing to lose. Kayla asks if she's supposed to hide in here with him from her patients and Justin. Kayla notes that Justin will be worried sck about her. "Steve" says if she really cares about Justin, she'll stay right here for a little while. Kayla asks if he thinks Stefano will go after Justin. "Steve" says he'll go after anyone she cares about. Kayla decides she needs to call Justin and tell him what's going on. "Steve" thinks back to taking Kayla's phone in her office as she looks for it.

Rafe tells Shawn that Roman is leading the search for Dr. Rolf and there's not much else they can do. Shawn suggests they take Gina to the hospital for a brain scan. Rafe says they would need a court order so Shawn says they will get one. Rafe notes that he only has 48 hours until he'd have to charge her with a crime as he can only put off the district attorney for so long. Shawn declares that means they need to get his mom back before then.

JJ tells the tech guy that his face looks familiar. He says a lot of people say that. JJ mentions working at the hospital. He introduces himself as Chris and says he works for a medical device company so he's here a lot and JJ may have seen him making a delivery. Chris walks away as Eli approaches JJ and asks if he's psyched about the wedding which JJ claims he is but Eli notes he doesn't seem like it.

Gabi questions Chad and Abigail thinking Stefano is going to come after her. Abigail says she's welcome for the heads up, warning that Stefano is dangerous and looks like Steve Johnson. Gabi thinks they are just trying to freak her out on her wedding day. Chad calls it a fair warning. Gabi suggests maybe it's not Stefano and that Steve lost his mind and thinks he's someone else. Chad insists that the man in Steve's body is Stefano because he knew things only Stefano would know. Gabi doesn't believe it so Chad tells her that she can call Rafe, who just arrested Hope although it's not really Hope because Dr. Rolf turned her in to Princess Gina again. Gabi doesn't believe them and tells them to go get a room at Bayview.

Princess Gina tries to escape her handcuffs.

Rafe wonders to Shawn what he's going to tell Doug and Julie. Rafe then exits the station while Shawn enters the interrogation room to confront Princess Gina. Gina wants her one phone call. Shawn tries to get through to her and says he knows Hope is in there but Gina says Hope is gone. Shawn insists that Hope is in there and she will fight like Hell to get back to her kids, family, and life. Shawn brings up past memories with Hope and argues that Princess Gina is no match for Hope. Gina tells Shawn that he's wrong and that nothing can bring his mother back because she is gone and no longer exists. Gina tells him that it's time to let Hope go.

JJ tells Eli that he's sorry as he felt like he knows the guy who just left from somewhere and it's bugging him that he can't remember. Eli asks if he remembered to pick up the rings then reveals he picked them up himself. Eli tells JJ to take care of the rings because he doesn't want anything to go wrong tonight.

Lani sits alone in JJ's apartment and thinks back to when Eli proposed to her. Lani begins to pray, saying she knows she didn't take her vows but she still believes in God. Lani prays that the doctors can get Julie's pacemaker out safely and that Gabi will finally pay for all the horrible things she has done.

Gabi tells Chad and Abigail that this is her wedding day so she is going to remove this nonsense from her mind and go get ready. Gabi asks Abigail if she would like to help her. Abigail responds that she can't because she's going to the hospital to see if she can be a donor for baby Mickie. Gabi says she should probably spare a few minutes to get tested herself and check on Julie to make sure she's in top shape to perform her wedding. Abigail hopes Julie will bounce back as quick as she did before when she had a heart attack and Gabi left her for dead. Gabi argues that was an accident and questions Abigail bringin that up when she and Julie are way past that and very close now. Gabi tells Abigail to grow up and move on. Abigail says she is leaving so Gabi decides she's going with her.

Rafe goes to see Doug and Julie at the hospital. Julie tells Rafe that he doesn't have to check on her as he can tell Gabi that she will be in top shape to get her married. Rafe says he's glad to hear that but he needs to tell them something about Hope.

Princess Gina complains that there will be serious international consequences when she is released and yells that they can't leave her in here forever.

Shawn calls Kayla and leaves a message for her to call him back as it's important and he needs her help.

Kayla can't find her phone. "Steve" mentions seeing it on her desk yesterday and suggests she forgot it because they were in such a hurry to get out. "Steve" states that it's just them for a little while.
