Rafe calls Shawn to update him. He mentions that he and Roman have split up to cover more ground. Rafe assures they will find his mom and find a way to bring her home. Rafe says he'll keep him posted and hangs up as Kate then appears in Prague.

Kristen goes to her room at the Salem Inn, surprised to find Chad and Abigail inside. Chad reveals the new portrait of Stefano with Steve Johnson's face, hoping that Kristen can explain it.

Steve" tells Marlena that together they will see that justice is done and no matter what, he will always be there for her as he then grabs Marlena and kisses her. Marlena pulls away and questions what he is doing.

John envisions seeing "Hope" as Marlena so "Hope"/Gina tells John to make love to her right here and now as she kisses him. John then snaps out of it and sees "Hope" again.

Will and Ben are in their prison cell. Will tells Ben that he didn't think it would be so soon. Ben says he doesn't get to pick his own execution date. Will just thought he had more time. Ben says that he did too. Will tells him he's sorry. Ben informs Will that he's out of options so he decided to take Clyde up on his offer to break them out of prison.

John realizes "Hope" is not Marlena. "Hope" tells him that she's gone and that Stefano shot her. "Hope" adds that she is the person he was about to make love to and that's how it should be because they belong together as she kisses him again.

"Steve" claims he was just trying to comfort Marlena and that they are both in terrible pain because of John's death so it's only natural to be there for each other. Marlena says they are both hurting but kissing is not the answer.

Rafe questions what Kate is doing in Prague. Kate thinks back to telling Hattie about Stefano's plans. Kate tells Rafe that she wanted to join the hunt for Stefano and she's sure he's here for the same reason. Rafe responds that he's here to find Princess Gina.

John tells "Hope" that the only woman he's meant to be with is Marlena. "Hope" tells him that she gave him something to relax and encourages him not to fight it because she knows he has feelings for her. John insists that he only loves Marlena. "Hope" argues that while Marlena was in Europe, they shared so many wonderful evenings together. John repeats they are just friends and questions what is happening here. "Hope" says they are so much more than that and she's going to prove it to him.

Kristen claims to have never seen the portrait before and asks where they found it. Abigail says it was in the DiMera Gatehouse but they aren't sure how it got there. Kristen acknowledges it looking like Steve Johnson without the patch. Chad brings up the ring and the pose looking exactly like Stefano. Kristen wonders why someone would paint a portrait of Steve Johnson to match Stefano DiMera. Abigail says that's what they want to know. Chad adds that Kristen is the only person to have seen Stefano face to face and asks if he looked like the guy in this portrait.

Marlena tells "Steve" that they are friends but will never be more than that. He asks even if just to get them through this tragedy. Marlena says Kayla is her friend so any of that would be wrong. "Steve" reminds her that she and Kayla are no longer together. Marlena argues that they are still connected and feels it would be a double betrayal. "Steve" tells her that John is gone but Marlena says that doesn't mean she stops loving him or feeling like his wife. "Steve" says he'll miss him for the rest of his life too but he knows John would want someone to take care of her and for her not to suffer alone. Marlena suggests perhaps anybody but Steve Johnson. "Steve" asks what if he told her that he wasn't Steve Johnson?

Will asks if Ben thinks Clyde's plan could actually work. Ben acknowledges that Clyde knows how to skirt the law and they would be able to disappear. Will asks about Ciara. Ben says she can't know. Will points out that she thinks he's going to die. Ben hates that more than he can say but she's already risked so much for him so he can't involve her in any of this. Will says he understands. Ben says he's only telling Will because he wanted to say goodbye and to thank him because he wouldn't have survived in here without him. Ben says he never would've imagined they would be helping each other through this nightmare. Will admits it was unlikely given their history. Ben notes that Will didn't have to forgive him, but he did and he'll always be grateful for that and their time here together. Will can't believe it's come to this, that he has to escape or he'll be executed for something he didn't do. Will calls it so unfair. Ben then points out that Will is innocent too and suggests he come with them.

Rafe sits with Kate and tells her about their theory that Dr. Rolf has turned Hope in to Princess Gina, which he has done before. Kate asks why she's in Prague. Rafe thinks she is with John and that she may have taken Marlena with her. Rafe hopes they are still here. Kate says they have to find them. Rafe assures they are trying and that Roman is out there now. Rafe adds that he hasn't even told her the worst part yet, as Hope was not the only person infested with a new host as they think Steve Johnson has been compromised as well.

Marlena questions what "Steve" means that he's not Steve Johnson. He removes his eye patch and declares he's a new man. Marlena notes his eye being fixed. He reveals that Dr. Rolf devised it. Marlena questions why he didn't say anything earlier. He responds that he needed to play the part because until now, everyone thought he was Steve Johnson but now he no longer has to pretend and doesn't need the patch. Marlena asks for the truth. He declares he is not Steve Johnson, as Dr. Rolf put his consciousness and essence into his body but Steve is just a vessel. Marlena question what all that means. Stefano then puts his ring on. Marlena says it can't be but he reveals that he is Stefano DiMera and says it's so good to be back.

"Hope" tells John that it's just the two of them trapped in this place that they may never be able to leave. She brings up the last time they were trapped together and reminds him of when they made love. John says they never slept together so she tells him to really look at her and questions him not remembering their time together under the sea. John then has flashbacks to years ago and realizes she's not Hope. She then confirms that she is Princess Gina and cries that she never stopped loving him. John questions what Gina has done to Hope. Gina responds that she's gone then says she's in there somewhere but she has complete control of her body and thoughts so Hope is never coming back. John questions her taking over Hope's body which she confirms, thanks to Dr. Rolf. Gina says Rolf has given them another chance at love. John argues that he should've known and seen this coming. Gina says she's worked so hard to get him back and now it is their time. Gina insists that John wants her now.

Kristen questions Chad asking her if their father looks like Steve Johnson. Chad brings up that last time he saw her, she said she didn't recognize Stefano. Abigail adds that the last time she was there, her uncle Steve was there when she was supposedly meeting with Stefano. Chad asks if their father has somehow made himself look like Steve Johnson. Kristen claims as far as she knows, the man that was here was Steve Johnson and Stefano still looks like Stefano. Abigail questions her not recognizing him. Kristen says a lot of time had gone by and calls this completely insane, asking why their father would want to morph in to Steve Johnson. Abigail says they thought that also but then remembered Kristen walking around for months with a Nicole mask on. Kristen argues that it would take a lot more than a mask to turn Stefano in to Steve since she and Nicole were roughly the same body type while Steve and Stefano are not. Chad suggests maybe it's not a mask and maybe it is Steve Johnson's body. Kristen asks if he thinks Stefano possessed him. Abigail talks about different personalities inhabiting a body. Kristen argues that this has nothing to do with her or Stefano. Kristen adds that if she knew something, she would tell Chad but Chad doesn't think she would. Kristen asks if he think she's lying now. Chad thinks she's definitely hiding something and tells her to just come clean.

Rafe sits with Kate and explains he and Roman's theory that Steve Johnson has been compromised. Rafe tells her about Anna and Tony's odd encounter with "Steve" since he became almost defensive about Stefano. Kate admits that is strange since Steve would never defend Stefano. Rafe concludes that if "Hope" isn't really Hope so maybe "Steve" isn't really Steve.

Marlena questions how it's possible for "Steve" to be Stefano. Stefano explains it wasn't easy as his body was breaking down and he was barely holding on but his loyal and brilliant scientist Dr. Rolf found a way to preserve his essence and consciousness. He adds that Rolf arranged for the kidnapping of Steve Johnson and put Stefano's very being inside of him, giving him a new body and a fresh perspective on life. Marlena asks why he would go through all of that and then just throw it in the trash. She says he has a new face and body but is still committing crimes. She adds that prison is prison no matter what vessel he's in. Stefano admits it was risky as he could've taken over Steve's life and lived as a law-abiding citizen but that would never satisfy him as his wants are too powerful. Marlena asks what he wants. Stefano responds that it's what he always wanted as he could never leave this earth without the one thing he has desired since he stepped foot in Salem years ago and that's Marlena, his queen of the night.

Kristen claims she's not hiding anything and that she's an open book. Chad wishes he could believe her. Kristen says whatever Stefano was planning, he did not share with her. Chad thinks there is more ot it than she's saying and they won't stop until they figure it out. Kristen wishes them luck but says they are wasting their time. Chad tells her to consider the portrait a gift as he and Abigail exit.

Marlena tells Stefano that there is no way she would ever be with him, no matter how he looks, because she still hates him. Stefano remarks that they both know there's a thin line between love and hate. Marlena says not for her. Stefano argues that they've danced this dance for so long. He tells her that she can deny it all she wants but he knows part of her has always been drawn to him. Marlena brings up Stefano locking her in a cage. Stefano thinks she might have given in to him if she wasn't so loyal to his pawn. Marlena says that John may have been a pawn to him but to her, he's a knight in shining armor. Stefano tells her that her great love is dead so that life is over but a new life is waiting for her. Stefano asks if it would be so terrible to let her guard down and see what she's been missing.

John tells Gina that she drugged him and he doesn't love her. John says he'd only be with her is if his brain was altered and all his memories were erased but never under his own freedom because the only woman he's ever loved is Marlena. Gina shouts that Marlena is gone and she's happy that she's the one who made that happen. John questions if Gina killed her which she claims that she did. John says he will make her pay but Gina tells him there is no way out of here so he's not going anywhere.

Will appreciates Ben's offer but says he can't break out of prison with him. Ben asks if he's still thinking about letting Ciara tell the truth about the accident and that Maggie is responsible for the crash that killed Adrienne. Will doesn't know as he does not want to put Maggie through that hell. Ben argues that he doesn't want to spend the rest of his life in prison. Will says that's true but going with him is a decision he can't take back. Will asks what he would do without his daughter and Sonny and what kind of life he could lead on the run. Will thanks Ben but says he has to stay put for now. Will wishes Ben luck as he really hopes he makes it because he deserves to be free. Ben thanks him and says he does too as they hug. Clyde interrupts to tell Ben that they have some business to attend to. Ben informs him that he told Will so they were just saying goodbye. Clyde questions why he did that and worries that Will could rat them out. Will assures that he won't and states that Ben is his friend, so he has his back. Clyde and Ben go to the prison yard to plan their move. Clyde informs him that he paid off the guard to leave them alone for awhile, feeling they will have until bed checks and instructs Ben to keep an eye out while he goes to work on the fence.

The guard comes to the prison cell for bed checks. Will claims that Ben is already asleep after feeling sick.

Kate tells Rafe that Steve acting odd is not new. Rafe insists he's a good man. Kate feels Steve had always been a jerk. Rafe suggests he was brainwashed like he was before. Kate guesses it's possible. Rafe says they need to find him, John, and Marlena because they could be in trouble. Kate then reveals she can help by telling him who Steve is. Rafe questions what she's saying right now. Kate then reveals to Rafe that "Steve" is Stefano DiMera.

Marlena says Stefano is out of his mind. Stefano encourages her to stop fighting her basic instincts and to do what makes her feel good without worrying about the consequences. Stefano asks if she wants to taste what it's like to be with a DiMera, proposing they could rule the world as King and Queen of the Night living a life of luxury. Stefano declares he wants her and he knows she wants him. He urges her to just give in and let go so Marlena then kisses him.

John tells Gina to get out of his way. She warns that if he got out, he wouldn't get far because the drugs in his system haven't fully kicked in yet. John argues that she can't keep him here. Gina says she can and she has so he should do the noble thing and surrender. John tells her that he will never be with her. Gina says he has no idea how much that hurts her because she's certain they belong together and she can feel it in her soul. Gina declares that if he does not give himself to her then she has no choice but to eliminate him, as much as it would break her heart. John says she can't stop him but she shouts that she can and raises a dagger at him.

Clyde works on cutting the fence with wire cutters while Ben tells him to hurry. Clyde tells him to be patient and they will be home free.

The guard enters the cell to check on Ben. Will insists that Ben is sick but the guard discovers that Ben is not in the bed and calls in an escape in progress as he rushes out of the cell.

Kristen sits with the new portrait of Stefano and says she's sorry as she did her best to protect him but Chad is onto him and he may not be the only one..

Rafe questions what Kate means by Steve is Stefano. Kate gets that it sounds really crazy but it's true as Stefano and Gina have been working together for quite some time. Rafe questions her knowing about this. Kate says all that matters is that she's here now and she wants to fix it and make things right. Rafe asks how she plans on doing that.

Stefano talks about waiting for this moment for so long as he and Marlena kiss until she stops and says she can't do this. She says it's not about John, it's about Roman because he's the man she loves and the man of her dreams. Stefano then realizes that he's had Hattie and not Marlena.

Gina holds the dagger on John and declares that if she can't have him, no one can, but Marlena enters and orders her to get away from John.
