Chad and Abigail lay in bed with their laptops. Chad complains about not hearing back from Stefano after he said he was going to deal with Kristen but didn't say how. Abigail is sure Stefano will reach to Kristen in some cryptic way. Chad reminds her that Kristen is expecting a face to face. Abigail asks why Chad thinks Stefano would meet Kristen face to face if he wouldn't do that for Chad. Chad says it depends on how bad Stefano wants those shares. Chad comments that Stefano could be meeting with Kristen as they speak.

Kristen questions "Steve" wanting her to believe that he is her birth father and thinks he's just trying to convince her to help go catch Stefano. She calls him pathetic and yells at him to get out. He screams at her to listen to him because he is not Steve Johnson, he is Stefano DiMera as he then removes his eye patch. Kristen asks if this is a joke. Stefano insists but Kristen doesn't buy it and yells at him to get the hell out. Stefano tries to get through to her but Kristen threatens to call security. Stefano asks if Kristen could come back as Nicole Walker, why can't he come back as Steve Johnson.

At the Brady Pub, Kate uses her laptop to search Evan. Roman comes over and comments that Kate is supposed to be working. Kate responds that she is working on saving their grandson's marriage.

Will sits in his prison cell and reads a letter from Arianna about her recital. She writes that she and Sonny miss him and hope he can come home soon.

Clyde tells Ben that he wants to bust them both out of prison because Ben either faces the rest of his days here until his lethal injection or he spends the rest of his life outside with Ciara but it's his call.

Ciara says she knows what Victor and Xander did to Ben so she's not going to let Ben die for their sins. Ciara pleads with Victor to help her because he's the only person in the world who can. Victor doesn't respond so Xander says Ciara has her answer and starts to take her out of the room. Ciara threatens to tell Maggie everything about how she saw Xander burning his confession and how she overheard them saying they sent an innocent man to prison. Xander argues that she can't tell Maggie any of that. Ciara says she will say and do whatever to get Maggie to believe her then Maggie will get them to admit what they did. Victor stops Ciara and tells Xander that they have to tell her the truth. Xander questions what he's doing. Victor says they have to come clean because he can't torture his granddaughter anymore so she has to know everything.

Ben tells Clyde that he doesn't want any part of whatever he's planning. Clyde reminds him that he lost his last appeal so he's a dead man walking. Ben argues that Ciara can still prove he didn't do it by getting Victor and Xander to tell the truth. Clyde points out that she hasn't been able to do it so far so he questions why he thinks she can do it now.

Ciara asks if Victor is finally going to be honest. Victor tells Ciara that she's right that they sent an innocent man to prison. Ciara stops him and says first she wants to call her mom to come record this conversation because they won't overturn Ben's conviction without a recorded confession. Xander tells her not to call anyone. Xander doesn't know what Victor is trying to do and says they didn't kill Jordan. Ciara argues that he did since Victor just admitted that they sent an innocent man to prison. Xander confirms that but reveals that Victor wasn't talking about Ben..

Stefano asks Kristen what it's going to take to convince her that he's telling the truth. Kristen questions believing he's in a Steve Johnson disguise. Stefano responds that thanks to Dr. Rolf, it's not a disguise but a reality. Kristen asks if it's plastic surgery or what since it's not a mask. Stefano explains that Dr. Rolf was able to transplant his consciousness into Steve Johnson's body. Kristen laughs and says she's heard it all. Stefano responds that she hasn't but she's about to.

Roman questions why Kate is getting involved in this Will and Sonny situation. Kate argues that they need her help to save their marriage so she needs to get rid of Evan. Kate tells Roman that she knows Will and Sonny have a lot to overcome in the tragic event that tore them apart. Kate thinks they can work their way back to each other if Evan is out of the picture. Kate insists she's going to find out what Evan is up to. Roman feels it sounds like a lot of work. Kate brings up Roman being the former police commissioner so she asks him to do a background check on Evan. Hattie works at the Pub nearby and wonders what that is all about.

Abigail questions if Chad really thinks Stefano would meet with Kristen and not him. Chad responds that Stefano and Kristen always had a special relationship. Chad says that she was the most like Stefano of his children so if anyone would get through to her it's him. Abigail asks if he trusts Stefano. Chad says he has no choice since Kristen was playing both sides so Stefano is their best chance.

Kristen continues to believe she is talking to Steve but he says in her heart she knows that he's not Steve. Kristen questions believing that Dr. Rolf took Stefano's personality and brain and uploaded it in to Steve Johnson's body. Stefano assures it was not his first choice. Kristen argues that Dr. Rolf is brilliant but she won't believe that he found a way to put Stefano's essence in to this body without proof. Stefano understands and pulls out his ring, assuring her that the Phoenix has risen.

Chad apologizes for dragging Abigail in to all of this. Abigail says he's not dragging her since Kristen and Stefano are her family too. Chad asks what Abigail is working on. Abigail informs him that it came out today that Ben lost his final appeal so they are setting a date for his execution. Chad responds that he can't say he's sorry he'll be gone. Abigail asks what if Ben didn't do it.

Clyde asks if Ben really thinks Ciara will miraculously save him. Ben responds that Ciara won't give up so neither will he. Clyde says saving him will take more than faith and determination while he's running out of time. Clyde suggests Ben let him start working on plan B.

Ciara doesn't understand what Xander means that they weren't talking about Ben and questions Victor. Victor explains that when she heard them discussing someone who didn't belong in prison, they weren't talking about Ben Weston, they were talking about Will Horton.

Will tapes Arianna's drawing on the wall next to his bed in his cell. Will swears if he could come home, he would, but after what he did to Adrienne, he's exactly where he belongs.

Roman tells Kate that he's not going to interfere in Will's relationship with Sonny. Kate says she's trying to protect Sonny from a guy who could be a predator. Roman asks what if Evan is just a nice and normal guy with nothing to find. Hattie comes over and greets them. Kate tells her they are having a private conversation. Hattie asks if there is any word on "he who shall not be named".

Kristen looks at Stefano's ring and argues that it's not proof because he could've stolen the ring from Kate. Kristen declares that she's done playing this game. Stefano refuses to leave. Kristen threatens to call security. Stefano asks why it's so hard for her to believe when it was her idea.

Roman asks Kate if she told Hattie about the Stefano situation. Hattie guesses she shouldn't have said anything. Kate claims she just told her that the police are looking for Stefano and that they questioned her. Hattie insists the cops will catch him. Roman comments that Stefano would be wise to stay far away. Roman then heads back to the kitchen. Kate tells Hattie that she thought they agreed to keep quiet about all of this. Hattie says she just got so excited about their secret mission. Kate reminds her that it has to remain secret. Hattie guesses she got afraid that Stefano would come after her because of "Patch". Hattie then asks if she can still call Steve, Patch, if he doesn't have the eye patch.

Kristen asks Stefano how the hell this was her idea. Stefano asks if she doesn't remember taking him to Nashville. Kristen asks what about it. Stefano says that she asked Dr. Rolf to save his life so he did, he got him out of the fire. Kristen asks why Rolf didn't tell her then. Stefano states that he forbid him to tell her since Kristen had already mourned his death once and if Rolf's treatment failed, she would've had to go through it again and he couldn't do that to her. Kristen complains that this doesn't make any sense. Stefano asks how he would know all of this if he wasn't Stefano. Stefano adds that he can tell her every detail of what went on in the warehouse behind the door marked "S.D." Kristen questions why he's showing himself now after all this time and why he reached out to Chad instead of her.

Chad questions if Abigail is defending Ben after what he did to them. Abigail clarifies that she's not defending Ben but she's a reporter so she's asking questions like what if Ben didn't kill Jordan and what if the police made a mistake again. Abigail adds that she's thinking about Ciara. Chad points out that Ciara chose to be with Ben despite his past. Abigail questions if that means Ciara deserves to watch the man she loves die.

Ben tells Clyde that he's not ready for a plan B from him. Clyde asks if he's ready for the death penalty instead. Ben brings up Clyde calling him a rat a few days ago for protecting an innocent man. Clyde argues that Ben pissed him off by protecting Will instead of his own flesh and blood. Ben responds that Will is a better person than Clyde will ever be. Clyde says that may be so but declares that Ben is his son so he's not going to sit back and watch them kill him. Clyde feels he has to do something. Ben still believes Ciara can pull this off. Clyde asks what has changed. Ben feels that after Victor's stroke, he's left vulnerable and his defenses are down. Clyde argues that Victor won't suddenly cough up a murder confession as if he's responsible for Jordan's death, he will take that secret to the grave. Ben argues that he doesn't know that. Clyde calls him crazy for taking the risk when they could leave all this behind and find a new place for Ben to spend the rest of his life with Ciara. Clyde asks what Ben says to that. Will then walks in and questions what's going on here.

Ciara questions what Victor is talking about since Will is in prison for killing Adrienne. Xander says they know. Ciara asks if he's telling her that Will is innocent. Victor confirms that he is. Ciara argues that this doesn't make any sense and asks if Victor is saying that he and Xander killed Adrienne? Ciara demands Victor tell her what's going on and asks again if they killed Adrienne then let Will go to prison for it. Victor says of course not. Xander adds that they would never. Ciara questions who did kill Adrienne then. Xander claims it doesn't matter but they didn't have anything to do with her death or Jordan's. Xander says that Ciara has been barking up the wrong tree for months which Victor agrees with.

Clyde tells Will that he and Ben are having a private conversation so he better stay out of it. Will asks if Clyde's going to try to kill him again when the guard is watching. Ben tells them that's enough. Clyde remarks that Will is not worth it. Clyde tells Ben to think about what he said and then exits the room. Will asks Ben what that was about.

Abigail finishes her report and asks if Chad got any word from Stefano but he hasn't. Chad decides he has to do something to solidify his position at DiMera. Abigail asks what he can do without Kristen's shares. Chad tells her that there is someone else who could help; Kate, because she still has Andre's shares. Abigail asks if they are enough to make a difference. Chad says no but they could help. Abigail points out that Kate won't just give him her shares. Chad reminds her that Kate said she doesn't want anything to do with DiMera anymore but Abigail doesn't believe that. Chad asks if she thinks Kate is content being a waitress. Abigail suggests if Kate doesn't agree then they can find out if she has a hidden agenda.

Kate asks Hattie what exactly Steve told her. Hattie says that he told her that the ISA fixed his eye and then he told her to move out of John and Marlena's because Stefano might come after her. Kate says that's because Stefano is going after Marlena and Hattie looks like her. Hattie asks why else she would leave. Roman comes out from the kitchen and calls Hattie to work. Hattie comments on Roman needing her. Kate reminds her that Roman has made it clear to her that he's not interested in her romantically. Hattie responds that Kate has made it clear that men don't know what they want. Hattie suggests maybe she's not what Roman wants right now but she will be because she has a way of wearing people down. Hattie then heads to the kitchen to help Roman. Kate goes behind the bar and pours herself a drink.

Stefano knew it would upset Kristen that he reached out to Chad first but says he had no choice because after the fire, he was in terrible shape and in a great deal of pain with his future uncertain. Stefano adds that it took all of Dr. Rolf's abilities to keep him alive and to find a suitable host. Kristen asks why Steve Johnson. Stefano states there were many factors involved but that is when his work began. Kristen calls this not possible. Stefano knows it's a lot to take in and says the transformation was difficult and complicated. Stefano tells her that he disappeared to recover because even after Rolf finished his work, it took months for him to get strong enough to start planning and that's when he read about what happened to Kristen and her child. Stefano says it broke his heart. Kristen cries that she lost her baby, almost went to prison for murder, and she never felt so alone. Stefano wishes he could've been there to help but he couldn't, though he is here now. Stefano tells her that her father is here for her.

Kate texts Stefano asking where he is because Hattie is about to blow their plans. Chad enters the Pub which Kate calls a nice surprise. Chad tells her that he needs her help.

Abigail can't believe the only two people they are relying on is Stefano and Kate. She wonders if Stefano really is connected to what happened to Jennifer or if Stefano really is meeting with Kristen right now.

Stefano asks Kristen to forgive him for not reaching out to her sooner. Kristen says this year has been Hell. Stefano says he did attempt to reach out to her and he learned that she was away at the convent. Kristen admits she felt so lost. Stefano understands she needed to heal like him. Stefano asks her to come home to her family where she belongs.

Will tells Ben that he was surprised to see him chatting with his dad after he stabbed him. Ben explains that Clyde came to offer his own unique brand of comfort which he knows doesn't make much sense. Will asks if it was about his appeal. Ben informs Will that Ciara came earlier to tell him that his last appeal was denied so they are setting a date for his execution. Will tells him he's so sorry and asks if anything can be done. Ben declares it's time to pray for a miracle.

Ciara can't believe she wasted all this time chasing after Victor and Xander when they had nothing to do with what happened to Ben. Xander asks if that means she will drop all of this. Ciara asks how she's supposed to drop this. Victor tells her that she knows they didn't kill Jordan so there's nothing left to pursue. Ciara questions if she's just supposed to forget what they told her about Will. Ciara argues that if Will is innocent, he does not belong in prison. Victor tells her to stay out of it but she refuses and urges Victor to come clean so that Will can be set free to be with Sonny, Arianna, and his family. Victor responds that he will never do that. Ciara questions what is wrong with him. Xander says they can't. Ciara declares that if he won't tell anyone then she will. Victor stops Ciara and informs her that she has to know what really happened to Adrienne..

Chad brings up that Kate said she took the waitress job because she was tired of the corporate world so he asks if she doesn't want anything to do with DiMera anymore. Kate asks why he is asking. Chad responds that he can offer her a way out for good.

Kristen doesn't know what to believe anymore and asks if this is really possible. Stefano states that she knows him better than anyone and like the Phoenix, they have both risen from the ashes again and again. Stefano tells Kristen they can do this together and asks what she says. Kristen really wants to believe this and asks if this is really real. Stefano responds that she knows the answer in her heart. Kristen hugs Stefano as she breaks down crying.

Abigail shows up at the Salem Inn and goes to Kristen's door, saying if Stefano is in there then she'll have a look at him.

Ben shakes Will's hand and thanks him for still believing him. Ben says Will was the one thing that made all this tolerable. Will argues that Ben is innocent and facing the death penalty while he killed someone and gets to live which is not right or fair. Will wishes he could trade places with Ben because he doesn't deserve this. Will declares that if anyone deserves to die for their crime, it's himself.

Victor finishes telling Ciara the whole sordid story of what happened to Adrienne. Ciara can't believe it and says this is awful. Victor knows it's upsetting to hear and tells her that she can't breathe a word about this to anyone. Ciara asks about Will because of what's at stake here. Victor orders her to promise not to say anything to anyone. Ciara says she's sorry but she can't make that promise. Ciara then rushes out of the room.
