At the hospital, Xander confronts Ciara and asks what she did or said to Victor. Ciara thinks back to admitting to Victor that she believes he sent Xander to kill Jordan. Ciara tells Xander that she's not going to defend herself to him. Xander remarks that Victor trusted Ciara when she's been nothing but a sneaky lying bitch to him. Xander warns that if Victor dies, it will be on her head.

Lani sits in her hotel room, thinking back to talking to Eli and Gabi. She gets a call from Gabi, who questions her still being in Salem. Gabi warns Lani to get her ass out of town by tonight or she will crank Julie's pacemaker until it explodes. Gabi declares she will send her straight to Hell and hangs up as Eli walks in and asks who she is sending to Hell now.

At the Horton house, Julie talks to JJ about it becoming a tradition for the New Year's Eve party to be crashed. Julie thought she could break the cycle by changing the venue but no luck. JJ reminds her that Jack was one of those party crashers a couple years ago but it worked out alright. Julie points out that was after he got rid of his date, Eve Donovan. JJ says it could work out for Steve too. Julie doesn't see that happening after how he treated Kayla. JJ notes that he didn't see it happening for Jack either. Julie decides she has more important things to worry about than Steve. Julie mentions her restaurant being vandalized last night and reveals to JJ that the security footage showed that Kristen DiMera is back in town.

Brady is having a glass of water at the Basic Black office as he thinks back to Kristen. Nicole calls for his attention and guesses that he can't stop thinking about Kristen.

Kristen asks Lani who called. Lani tells her it was Gabi, who said if she doesn't leave Salem by tonight then she's going to kill Julie. Kristen argues that threatening to kill someone and actually doing it are two different things. Kristen adds that Gabi is with Eli so she questions if she will really murder his grandma. Lani feels that she can't take that chance with Julie's life. Kristen asks what choice she has then. Lani questions if she's saying she just do what Gabi wants. Kristen asks if she has a better idea. Lani brings up that Gabi would sell out her own mother for Kristen's stock. Kristen says she's sorry but she can't just give up a bargaining chip like the stock when she has her own problems. Lani decides she will start packing then but Kristen stops her and says she doesn't have to leave Salem but just convince Gabi that she did and find a place to lie low for awhile. Lani asks where she would go. Kristen says there has to be someone she trusts and suggests her father. Lani mocks the idea of asking Abe to hide her but he can't ask any questions. Kristen admits it was a bad idea and asks if there is anyone else she trusts. Lani reminds her that everyone thinks she broke Eli's heart. Kristen tells her that she's on her side and assures that they will bring Gabi to her knees. Kristen then exits the room.

JJ asks Julie if she's sure that Kristen is in town which she confirms. JJ thought he saw the last of her in Italy. Julie argues that threatening to shoot Kristen was the drugs talking and now he's off the drugs. JJ says he didn't see a light, it was just that Lani showed up and stopped him. Julie doesn't want to hear Lani's name. Julie appreciates that Lani stopped him from murdering Kristen but that doesn't change the fact that she strung Eli along to humiliate him on his wedding day. Julie is thankful that Eli has found happiness with Gabi. JJ comments on Julie doing a 180 on Gabi. Julie says that's true because Gabi healed Eli's broken heart and her own. Julie states that she's alive by Gabi.

Gabi claims to Eli that she was talking to Rafe and talking about sending Kristen to Hell. Eli notes that Rafe could have Kristen picked up. Gabi feels that Kristen would get off because nothing sticks to her. Eli offers to go make sure Kristen knows her place. Kristen then shows up and says she knows exactly where her place is.

Ciara questions Xander thinking what happened to Victor was her fault. Kayla comes over so Ciara asks how Victor is. Kayla says she just saw him and he's still in the ER. Kayla adds that it was good Ciara was with him to call the ambulance. Ciara asks if that means he will be okay. Kayla notes that the blood clot is large so if it doesn't dissolve, they will prep him for brain surgery. Ciara asks if Victor isn't going to die. Kayla wishes she could promise that but says they will take it one step at a time. Kayla hugs her and assures they will do their best. Kayla asks if she knows where Maggie is because she has lots of paperwork to sign. Xander questions Ciara not calling Maggie to let her know that her husband might be on his deathbed.

Maggie shows up at the Horton house and greets JJ, happy to see him looking like his old self. Julie notes that JJ wants to go back to his own place but she thinks it's too soon. Maggie wanted to make sure JJ has all the support he needs in his recovery because his last meeting didn't go so well. Maggie offers to go with him to another one and guarantees that Brady won't be there this time.

Brady complains to Nicole about being unable to stop thinking about Kristen after the way she treated Nicole when she didn't deserve that. Nicole understands that Kristen doesn't want Brady kissing another woman. Brady doesn't get why Kristen came back and says she's wasting her time because if he never sees her again, it'd be too soon. Nicole asks if he's sure.

Eli accuses Kristen of breaking the Gabi Chic window but Kristen says she didn't so Eli asks who did. Kristen suggests the only other person in town dressed as a nun. Eli questions her saying it was Lani. Kristen tells him to go ask Lani himself. Gabi tells Eli not to worry about it. Eli says it matters to him so he's going to get to the bottom of this and he then exits. Kristen remarks that Eli seemed pretty anxious to go spend time with his ex so she asks if he's still hung up on her. Gabi comments that Lani waited until they were at the altar to tell him that she was leaving him and didn't even give a reason. Gabi says Kristen is being ridiculous but she disagrees.

Lani sits in her room thinking back to Gabi's threats when Eli shows up, demanding she answer the door because he's not leaving until he talks to her.

JJ says when he stopped using drugs before, he told himself he didn't need a program because he didn't think he would do drugs again but he was wrong. JJ agrees to try another meeting with Maggie. Maggie relates and says she doesn't know what she would do without the support from her meetings so she feels JJ could benefit from that support. Maggie adds that he can always call her if he needs someone to talk to. JJ agrees to and thanks her for always being there for him. Maggie says she always will be and hugs him. JJ thanks Maggie and Julie for having his back. Julie asks Maggie if there's any news about Mickie. Maggie says she hasn't talked to Sarah today. Maggie then gets a call from Xander, who informs her of the news about Victor which shocks her.

Brady hates when Nicole acts like she knows him better than he knows himself. Brady insists that he only feels contempt for Kristen. Brady suggests they just stick to business. John arrives and says he just got a piece of news that he wanted to deliver in person. John informs Brady that Marlena just called him and told him that Victor has been rushed to the hospital after having a stroke. Brady asks why John is telling him.

Gabi tells Kristen to worry about her own life because she knows Brady and Nicole are getting pretty chummy. Kristen asks if she wants her shares or not. Gabi remarks that she didn't know she was still in the running since Chad told her they talk all the time. Kristen states that Chad called her once but they are not that close and if Stefano wants him to run the company, she won't jump on the bandwagon. Gabi asks if she wants her to run the company then. Kristen says she didn't say that. Gabi accuses her of playing games and that she won't give her stock to anyone but herself. Kristen tells Gabi that she is willing to play ball. Gabi asks what she wants from her in return.

Lani puts her nun outfit on to answer the door. She asks what Eli wants now. Eli asks what it is with her since Kristen said Lani is the one who threw the plant through Gabi's store window. Lani responds that she can't lie to him. Eli points out that she did yesterday. Lani says he just jumped to a conclusion and she just didn't set him straight. Lani admits that was still a lie in the eyes of God. Eli wants to know why she broke the window and says it can't be because he's with Gabi because she's the one who broke things off with him. Eli asks what Lani has against Gabi because she has never done anything to her. Lani snaps back that Eli has no idea what Gabi has done. Eli questions what the hell that is supposed to mean and asks if she's saying Gabi did do something to her.

Maggie arrives at the hospital where Xander hugs her as she cries.

Ciara sits at Victor's side in his hospital room. She cries that she's so sorry for everything she said to him. She says she loves him so much and doesn't want anything bad to happen to him but she loves Ben too. She cries that she's desperate because without answers, they are going to execute Ben for something he didn't do which is the only reason she pushed him so hard. Ciara pleads for Victor to wake up and tell her what he and Xander did. Kayla, Maggie, and Xander then enter the room.

John tells Brady not to pretend he doesn't care about his grandfather. Brady says he just lost his infant daughter when his grandfather fired him to put Xander in charge. Brady tells John that he is still angry. Nicole encourages Brady to listen to John. John says Brady and Victor have been at war since he got out of high school but they always found peace because they love each other. John warns Brady that this stroke is a bad one so this may be his last chance to see Victor alive. John suggests Brady think about what Maggie is going through so maybe he should be there for her like she's always been for him. Brady then agrees to go. John offers to go with him but Brady says he needs to do this on his own and exits.

Kristen tells Gabi that the company is not the only reason she came back to Salem as she came to win back Brady so business is the least of her worries right now. Gabi calls Kristen crazy if she thinks she can help her get Brady back. Gabi says she cannot help Kristen with anything but Kristen thinks that she can.

Maggie tells Victor that she's here and she loves him. Xander is sure Maggie would like some time alone with her husband. Xander tells Victor to hang in there. Xander follows Ciara out of the room and tells her that he has a pretty good idea what she was saying to Victor. Ciara yells at him to leave her alone. Brady arrives to interrupt and asks Ciara how Victor is. Ciara tells him it's bad. Brady asks what the doctors said. Ciara explains that Kayla said they gave him a drug to help dissolve the blood clot but he still might need surgery. Brady thinks it's a big mistake for him to be here but Ciara says not to her. Brady reminds her that he and Victor are on the outs. Ciara notes that no matter how much they love Victor, he still finds ways to make them angry and hurt but he's doing those things because he loves them. Brady is tired of analyzing why Victor does what he does but he always seems to push them away.

John tells Nicole that he was sorry for interrupting so he'll let her get back to work. Nicole asks him not to go and thanks him for getting through to Brady. John calls it the right thing to do. Nicole knows it would have eaten at Brady if he didn't go to the hospital. Nicole adds that he's already in a pretty bad place with Kristen being back which surprises John.

Gabi tells Kristen that she is not doing that. Kristen warns her not to make an enemy out of her. Gabi says she's not afraid of her. Kristen asks if she won't mind if she signs her shares to Chad then which will give him the upper hand and cost Gabi her job, the house, and all the money she controls right now. Gabi mocks Kristen going from being a nun to blackmailing her. Kristen remarks that she can make a believer out of anyone.

Eli refuses to leave until Lani tells him what Gabi supposedly did to her. Lani brings up Gabi donating Stefan's heart to Julie but hating her for shooting Stefan. Eli tells her to quit telling him what he already knows because he wants to know what Gabi did to her. Lani informs Eli that she tried to make Gabi understand that she would never do anything to hurt Stefan and she made her get down on her knees and beg her to give his heart to Julie. Eli questions Gabi doing that. Lani cries that she got down on her knees and begged her. Eli argues that Gabi was filled with grief and probably didn't know what she was saying. Lani assures that Gabi enjoyed every minute of it and she's not a nice person who will end up breaking his heart. Eli declares that no one will ever break his heart more than Lani did. Eli says he didn't come to talk about them. Eli reminds Lani that she was a cop so she knows she can go to jail for felony vandalism. Lani questions if he's really going to arrest a nun for breaking a window when he was a cop too and knows those charges won't stick. Lani tells him to stop harassing her because she's leaving town anyways. Eli points out that she just got here which Lani calls a big mistake. Eli asks where she is going. Lani says where ever the good lord leads her. Eli questions why she even came back to town then tells her not to answer. Eli thought he knew her better than anyone but he doesn't get anything that she does anymore. Lani doesn't get how Eli could fall for Gabi so she tells him to go live his life and she'll go live hers. Lani says goodbye to Eli for good as he then exits.

Maggie reminds Victor of a Shakespeare quote he said to her. Maggie cries about her granddaughter having cancer and now Victor being like this. Maggie pleads for Victor not to leave her and breaks down crying as Xander rejoins her in the room. Maggie tells him that she has to go sign consent forms because Victor will need the surgery. Xander agrees to stay with Victor because Maggie doesn't want him alone. Maggie then exits the room. Xander tells Victor that he doesn't have to worry because he'll make sure that no one will ever figure out what they did.

Nicole fills John in on Kristen planning to become a nun but now she's kicked the habit because she wants Brady back. John can't believe it and calls Kristen delusional. Nicole brings up Kristen's abilities to reel people in. John argues that she just poisons everything she touches. John acknowledges Nicole still being a good friend to Brady after everything that happened and he's grateful for that. Nicole understands he's afraid that she's on the rebound from Eric and might hurt Brady. Nicole tells John that Brady is her closest friend and nothing more. John feels that Brady will need a good friend like her with Kristen being in town because they know that Kristen has a hold over Brady that he seems powerless to resist.

Gabi argues that if she does what Kristen wants her to do, it won't change anything between her and Brady. Kristen says to leave that to her and asks if they have a deal or not. Gabi feels she has no choice because if they don't work together then Chad will beat both of them. Gabi warns that when it's all said and done, she better remember who is in charge.

Brady, Ciara, Xander, and Maggie watch as Kayla has Victor wheeled out of his room for surgery. Maggie tells Victor that she will be waiting for him. Xander says they are all counting on him to pull through. Brady adds that he doesn't want things to end this way between them so he encourages Victor to fight. Xander says it's happening so fast but if anything goes wrong, he'll get the best specialist money can buy. Kayla promises that he is in good hands as Victor is then taken in for surgery. Brady hugs Ciara as she cries.

JJ and Julie walk outside. Julie talks about Maggie not needing this when she's already so worried about Mickie. They run in to Lani. Julie comments on her being a nun and hopes she's not moving back to Salem. Lani claims she just came to see her dad and now she's on her way to the airport. Julie goes to get some coffee. Lani comments that JJ is looking a lot better since she last saw him. JJ says he's getting it together and apologizes for what Julie said. Lani understands that she really hurt Eli. JJ knows she wouldn't do that to Eli without her reasons. Lani wishes she could explain it to him. JJ says she doesn't owe him an explanation. JJ says if she didn't talk him down, he would've blown Kristen away.

Nicole calls Brady, leaving a message wondering how Victor is doing. Kristen then walks in to the office so she hangs up. Nicole tells her that Brady is not here so she can leave. Kristen sits down and declares she's not going anywhere.

Gabi finishes a call as Eli returns home. Gabi asks if he found Lani. Eli confirms that he did and he asked her why she broke the store window. Eli says that Lani said it was because of something Gabi made her do when Julie needed Stefan's heart. Gabi argues that Lani is lying.

JJ tells Lani that if he killed Kristen, his life would be over now so if there was any way he could repay her, he would. Lani asks if he really means that which JJ says he definitely does. Lani tells JJ that there is something he can do for her but it's asking a lot.

Nicole threatens to call security but Kristen informs her that she has every right to be here. Nicole argues that she has every right to kick people who assault her out of her office. Kristen disagrees and reveals that she is her co-worker now, suggesting she welcome her to the company.
