Steve wakes up in the hospital with bandages over his eyes from the surgery. Kayla is by his side to check on him. Kayla encourages that he'll be back to his old self in no time. Steve asks if that means the surgery worked. Kayla tells him the engineer was optimistic and they had no trouble. Kayla decides it's time to take the bandage off and find out.

Claire goes to the hospital where Tripp is waiting to see Steve. Claire decides to wait with him and tells him about Ciara coming to the loft earlier. Tripp asks how she seems. Claire says she's still really angry at the world or at least at everyone except Ben. Claire states that Ciara developed a really weird bond for Ben.

In the interrogation room, Rafe and Hope go over the cabin fire with Ben. Hope suggests he just tell the truth and confess. Ted arrives as Ben's lawyer and asks why he would confess when he's not guilty. Ted advises Ben not to say another word. Rafe questions what Ben is paying him. Ted responds that it's $600 an hour but Ben is not who hired him. Ciaara then arrives revealing that she hired him.

Gabi goes to the DiMera Mansion to give Stefan her Gabi Chic papers to sign. She asks him about what happened at the clinic and if he talked Abigail out of the abortion.

Abigail informs Chad that she has been keeping something from him as she then reveals she is pregnant.

Stefan tells Gabi that he got to the clinic just in time and it took some convincing but Abigail decided to keep the baby. Gabi guesses he threatened her. Stefan says he made her see the truth that she has to accept her alter's choices which means accepting his child. Gabi calls it impressive considering she hates his guts. Stefan argues that part of her still loves him and that part will live on through their child. Gabi can't imagine Chad is happy about this. Stefan says they will find out soon enough as he's sure she is telling him as they speak.

Chad gets excited about Abigail being pregnant and hugs her, saying they were just talking about it. Chad questions her not being happy when this is amazing. Abigail then informs Chad that it's not his, it's Stefan's.

Steve tells Kayla he's as ready as he'll ever be so Kayla removes the bandages. Steve informs Kayla that he feels okay but he can't see anything at all.

Claire tells Tripp how Ciara was going on about how Ben found her like he's her knight in shining armor. Tripp suggests Stockholm syndrome which Claire agrees with. Tripp doesn't know how to cure her. Claire suggests he try to talk to her but Tripp points out that she's still mad at finding them together. Claire asks if he thinks Ciara has feelings for Ben. Tripp says no and asks why she would say that. Claire says it's just the way she's talking about him so she thought maybe after what happened with Chase, Ciara thinks she doesn't deserve anyone normal and she thinks that hit a nerve.

Hope questions Ciara hiring an attorney for Ben. Ciara responds that he needed help and had no one else. Rafe questions where she got the money. Ciara says she got access to Victor's trust fund for her when she turned 21. Hope questions her spending her money like this. Ciara argues that Ben didn't do anything to her and they have no proof he set the fire as it was an accident. Hope says he hasn't shared the whole story then because the fire department deemed the fire suspicious meaning it was likely intentional.

Gabi suggests Stefan learn more about Stefano and then he can be the exact opposite as a father. Stefan tells her that he's very much looking forward to becoming a father and plans to make up for his own childhood. Gabi apologizes for the mixup with the papers. Stefan tells her that was no mixup.

Abigail tells Chad that she is three months along. Chad brings up that they were together too. Abigail cries about how much she didn't want this to be true but she had a paternity test so she shows Chad the results and tells him that she's so sorry.

Kayla and Steve finish talking with the engineer, who said that Steve's optic nerve is still healing which is why it's taking some time. Steve says they will just have to wait and see. Steve tells her it will be a good day. Tripp comes in with food. Kayla tells him that Steve's nerve is still adjusting. Kayla has a few more questions for the engineer so she goes to find him. Tripp asks Steve how he's doing. Steve says he's 100% minus the eye and asks how Tripp is. Tripp says he's good but Steve senses something is wrong. Tripp says it's not the time but Steve insists he tell him what's going on. Tripp tells him that it's Ciara and he hoped they could work things out but it didn't go as he hoped so he's starting to think their relationship is a lost cause.

Ciara questions Ben not telling her about the report. Ben apologizes and says he was afraid she wouldn't believe him. Rafe says it makes one wonder what else he is keeping from her. Ben swears he had nothing to do with the fire and would never hurt Ciara. Ted adds that he also read the report and notes the Marshall said the fire could have been suspicious but had no definite cause. Rafe calls it a preliminary report. Ted points out there being no evidence linking Ben to the fire. Rafe asks if Ben didn't do it, who did since no one lives within five miles of the cabin. Ted suggests someone from Salem could have tried to frame Ben. Rafe asks how since no one knew Ben had taken Ciara to the cabin. Ted responds that he does his research and found out about Hope trying to keep Ben from being released from Shady Hills so maybe she tried to make sure Ben would be blamed for the fire. Ted adds that it wouldn't be the first time Hope has been involved in an illegal cover up.

Gabi tells Stefan that it was obviously a mix up but Stefan doesn't buy it. Gabi asks why she would want to expose Abigail's secret. Stefan knows she wanted him to stop Abigail from ending her pregnancy. Gabi asks why she would want to do that. Stefan suggests it wasn't about him but about hurting Abigail.

Chad goes over the paternity test result as Abigail apologizes. Abigail wishes she never got the test as she wanted to put everything with Stefan behind them and she would do anything to change the results. Abigail tells Chad that she was going to end the pregnancy. Chad questions why she didn't. Abigail informs him that she spoke to Stefan, who made her realize she couldn't do it.

Rafe warns Ted about making accusations about the commissioner. Ted asks if he's threatening him. Hope clarifies that no one is threatening anyone but he better have proof if he's suggesting someone here set Ben up. Ted says he's just pointing out that there could be many explanations for what happened that night. Hope brings up Ben's past with setting the cabin on fire which makes him a suspect. Ted calls it not enough to hold him without evidence. Rafe admits they don't have evidence to directly implicate him so Ted says he will be asking to have DA Melinda Trask to release Ben immediately. Hope says she will make sure she refuses. Hope tells Rafe to keep an eye on Ben. Ciara refuses to leave. Hope and Ted exit to go see the D.A. Ben apologizes to Ciara for not telling her everything and asks if she still believes him.

Stefan points out that Abigail told Gabi the truth in confidence so spilling her big secret puts a wrench in things. Gabi asks why she would want to hurt her friend. Stefan brings up Abigail hurting her. Gabi blames Stefan's help. Stefan admits he played a part but her false testimony sent Gabi to prison so if not for her, Gabi would never have been beaten up and left barren. Stefan says if it were him, he'd hold a pretty big grudge. Gabi says she's not him and claims she won't blame Abigail for something she didn't even know was happening. Stefan feels she's been rehearsing what to say. Gabi tells Stefan that he is to blame for everything that happened to her. Stefan questions why she's working for him then. Gabi says she hates him but she loves her company more and that's the only way she can run it. Stefan questions him being evil when he helped her while Abigail gets a free pass. Gabi claims Abigail is her dear friend so she only wants what's best for her.

Chad questions Abigail telling Stefan about the baby. Abigail says he found out by accident and showed up at the clinic. Chad questions him convincing her to keep the baby. Abigail explains that he made her realize things about her alters so she has to accept those parts of her. Abigail cries that the baby isn't "Gabby's" but hers. Chad feels she is using her alters as an excuse and asks if she's sure she's not just in love with Stefan.

Tripp tells Steve that he was so excited to have Ciara back and to make things up to her but she didn't want to talk to him, especially after he insulted Ben. Tripp adds that Ciara doesn't blame Ben for anything that happened. Tripp says he's been trying to talk to her but she isn't responding. Steve calls Ciara stubborn like Bo was. Steve encourages him to just let her know he still cares and that he'll be there when she's ready. Steve talks about pushing Kayla away when they first got together but she never gave up on him and he's thankful she didn't. Steve feels Tripp could be Ciara's anchor like Kayla's been for him.

Claire asks Kayla about Steve. Kayla tells her that he can't see yet but it's still early so there's no reason to be alarmed. Claire says she'll keep thinking good thoughts. Kayla thanks her and asks if everything is alright. Claire claims she's fine as Kayla has enough on her mind. Kayla reminds her they are family so she's here for her. Kayla decides she could use a distraction so Claire asks if she's ever been into a guy who was into another girl. Kayla tells her about David Banning dumping her for Renee DiMera. Claire asks how she got over it. Kayla says she just realized they weren't meant to be which is good because she met Steve. Claire asks if she thinks there is still some hope for her to find someone who loves her as much as Steve loves her. Kayla tells her she's sure of it.

Stefan tells Gabi that he's grateful to have found out about Abigail's pregnancy before it was too late regardless of how it happened. Gabi asks about Abigail keeping the baby and if they talked about custody and visitation. Stefan is sure they will come to some agreement. Stefan doesn't care how Chad feels because he can't keep him from his child's life. Gabi asks if he thinks he can keep Chad out of the picture. Stefan claims his only concern is for the child. Gabi calls it his only connection to "Gabby". Gabi points out that Abigail is not "Gabby" so she's wondering if he can't have Gabby, if he wants Abigail.

Abigail tells Chad that she doesn't love Stefan and can barely stand him. Chad points out that "Gabby" loved Stefan and apparently she's part of him. Abigail argues that not everything about "Gabby" stayed with her. Chad asks if they figured out how it's all going to work. Abigail says she would never make a decision like that without talking to him first. Chad says she made this one. Abigail argues that Chad is her husband and the one she wants to spend her life with. Chad notes that he's just not her child's father. Abigail argues that he will be in all the ways that count unless he doesn't want to be. Chad tells her how hard it has been for him to try and forget that she slept with Stefan and now she's asking him to raise his child. Chad questions if she wants him to have a daily reminder of what happened.

Kayla returns to Steve's hospital room. Steve asks if the engineer had any good news. Kayla says he rechecked all his data from recent trials showing several where the Bionic Eye didn't work for several hours. Kayla decides to check again by shining a light on Steve's eye but there is no change. They mention the engineer coming back in 24 hours. Kayla asks him how Tripp is doing. Steve says he's having a little trouble with his love life. Kayla informs him that Claire is too as she just saw her and gave her some advice. Steve notes that he did the same with Tripp. Kayla asks if he thinks it worked. Steve hopes it did.

Claire approaches Tripp at the hospital and says she just talked to Kayla about Steve's eye. Tripp says they'll have a better idea tomorrow so he's just going to go home. Claire tells him that before he goes, he should know that Ciara is coming back to live with them at the Loft. Tripp gets excited that maybe Ciara hasn't written him off and could still forgive him.

Outside the interrogation room, Rafe confirms to Ciara that the fire marshall wasn't sure that the fire was set on purpose but asks if Ciara can think of any other explanation. Ciara says Ben took care of her, cooked her dinner, and made sure her leg wasn't bothering her. Ciara adds that Ben saved her in the first place so why would he try to kill her. Rafe knows it doesn't make sense but does note Ben being off his meds. Ciara admits he freaked out for a minute but she knows she got through to him. Rafe asks about them getting close. Ciara says they talked about a lot of things including things they've never talked about with anyone. Ciara admits after awhile she started to see Ben as a friend. Rafe points out that Abigail thought that too. Hope and Ted return so Rafe asks what Trask said. Ted declares that Ben is free to go.

Kayla puts Steve's bandage back on to keep his eye covered for healing as she lays with him on the hospital bed. Steve tells her that she doesn't have to stay if she has other patients but Kayla declares he is her only patient today and she's going to stay right here so that she's the first thing he sees in the morning.

Tripp tells Claire that he shouldn't get his hopes up but if he has another chance with Ciara who cares. Tripp thanks her and hugs her then tells her he will head home in case Ciara's already there. Claire decides she will stay and let them have alone time. Tripp thanks her and exits.

Rafe removes Ben's handcuffs while Hope tells him not to get too comfortable because this is not over. Ted says they have a lot of paper work to file but they'll be out in no time. Ted goes with Hope to sign papers. Ben thanks Ciara. Ciara knows he would never lie to her which he assures. Ted signs the papers and leaves the station with Ben. Hope hugs Ciara.

Stefan tells Gabi that he's only interested in Abigail as the mother of his child. Gabi isn't sure she believes that. Stefan remarks on how honest she's been with him. Gabi tells him to respect Abigail's marriage to Chad and not add to her misery. Stefan comments that Abigail is very lucky to have a good friend like Gabi or at least someone who is pretending to be. Gabi questions why he keeps questioning her intentions. Stefan says they are working together and he likes to know who he's dealing with and what they are capable of. Gabi then walks out of the room.

Abigail knows she's asking a lot of Chad especially after everything she has done so it's completely unfair. She hopes they can work this out because she loves him. Chad knows she does and that she's been through a lot. Chad wishes he could tell her that everything is going to be okay this time but he can't. Chad tells her he's sorry and walks out of the house, leaving Abigail in tears.
